Chapter 44 - Surprise Destination
Struggling against the hands firmly gripping my waist, Luke held a single finger over his lips to silence me. Fingers entwined tighter around mine. I glanced sideways at Luca who was stiff, alert and focused, staring intensely across the room toward a soft ruckus coming from near the front door. His free hand was clenching something under his jacket. No doubt his gun was ready. The sounds of the scuffle faded down a hall I hadn't explored then a door loudly slammed shut.
"Get your f*cking hands off my wife," Luca snarled as soon as the disturbance, whatever it was, seemed to dissipate.
Luke released my waist, shooting me a sideways smirk that made my body shiver in discomfort. I immediately sought out Luca's arm and stood beside him.
"The car is outside," Luke reported, straightening and taking two steps backward. "Ready when you two are."
With a stiff single nod, Luca led me away. I followed closely behind him. We quickly ascended the stairs back toward our bedroom.
"I'll go change in the guest room," Luca offered although I could sense he was hesitant to leave me.
I nodded, smirking as I took steps backwards until I closed the door. The sound of Luca's footsteps retreating came a long pause after. Luckily for me, I was able to reach the buttons on my dress and zip up the departure dress without assistance. After hanging up my wedding dress, I turned back to retrieve the couture dress I had kept hidden for weeks now. I slipped it on and ran my hands over the soft fabric.
The sleeveless, boat neck, tea length masterpiece was Italian couture. Pale blue, yellow and coral flowers cascaded down the body of the skirt. I saw it in a store while shopping for a wedding dress and instantly fell in love. The silhouette it formed hugged every curve perfectly on my body as if it was made for me.
The coup de gras, was the couture shoes. Fate smiled on me that shopping day displaying these stilettos in a shop perfectly timed. They seemed to have been created to match the dress. The silver filigree added the perfect amount of feminine sparkle without being gaudy.
I slipped my feet one at a time into the delicate accessories, biting my lower lip as I rose due to the height of the heels. With one more look in the mirror, I reapplied lipstick then zipped up my overnight bag for our getaway.
Hushed voices just beyond the bedroom door made me pause my hand at it gripped the handle. It sounded like Luca and Jarrett arguing.
"Keep him in holding until I get back," I recognized Luca's voice though it was tense, fierce. He was in Mafia mode. "Interrogate and see what you can find out. I want to know how and why they got into this house on my wedding day!"
His tone was angry. I heard the heavy sigh and footsteps retreating. Presumably, Jarrett agreed to his orders and had left to carry them out. Hesitantly, I turned the knob and opened the door.
Luca leaned against the door, hands stuffed in his pockets. The signature stance indicating he was stressed about something. He had changed into a pair of khaki pants and a white button down shirt that had the top few buttons undone and sleeves rolled to the elbow. Dark locks were neatly reshaped into place. Soft curls of hair peaked out of the shirt that made his olive toned skin deepen exotically. I could have dragged him back inside our room then and there.
"Mio Dio, you are beautiful," Luca exclaimed breathily causing me to giggle shyly. He stepped forward and snaked an arm around my waist tugging me flush against him. "I could take you here...right now..."
"Behave," I scolded, playfully smacking his firm chest. "We still have guests here."
"You're right, Gattina," he exhaled heavily, warm breath fanning my neck and raising goosebumps. "Let's get to our destination before we put on a show."
Luca picked up my suitcase in one hand then gathered his own in the other. Dom took them once we reached the bottom of the stairs. The guests had gathered inside the house forming an aisle for us to walk through. Hand in hand, fingers entwined, Luca led us through the cheering crowd of our guests. He paused at certain people, shook their hands and I kissed cheeks in farewell. Once through the front door, a sapphire blue Ferrari spider waited.
For a moment, I couldn't move except for my jaw dropping. Luca opened the passenger door for me, closing it once I sat inside still in awe at this cars beauty. He gave one last wave to our guests then climbed in and brought the engine roaring to life.
"Are you ready?" he grinned at me, wiggling his eyebrows.
I rolled my eyes then nodded. With a loud cheer roaring behind us, he tore off through the driveway and onto the street. The night sky glowed above us as Luca drove, not heading into the city. A warm hand rested on my thigh as Luca maneuvered the car with such confidence, radiating sexiness.
We rode in silence until I realized Luca was pulling into a parking lot at the harbor. He reached into the center console and pulled out a blindfold.
"The next part is a surprise," Luca smirked.
My heart fluttered with nervous excitement but still I unbuckled then turned in the seat so he could place the blindfold over my eyes. The sound of his door opening then closing was highly defined in my ears. Soft footfalls echoed from outside until the passenger door opened. Two warm hands took my own and helped me rise from the car.
The soft sound of distant thumping mixed with the clicking of my heels on wood and Luca's footfalls. A fresh, salty ocean scent hit my nostrils with the light breeze easing through my loose falling hair. After a steep decline, Luca stopped and slowly untied the knot of the blindfold.
Anchored before us in its sleek, white glory was a luxurious boat. This was very unexpected yet I couldn't fight the grin pulling my lips upward. Two warm hands snaked around my waist from behind me, lacing themselves at my belly to be interlocked. I felt Luca's chin perched on my shoulder.
"Your chariot, My Queen," His husky voice breathed into my ear followed by a lingering open mouthed kiss on my neck.
Words failed me as I stared at this sleek beauty. Tinted windows, shiny silver railings and light wood floors. This was truly a beauty. Luca took my hand in his to lead me onboard, carrying our bags in the other, when I tugged at his hand to halt us. In gorgeous script on the side was the name, Madison.
"H-how long-" I stammered, swallowing hard. "How long have you had this boat?"
Emerald eyes softened as Luca turned to look at me and answered, "Two years."
Two years? That means he bought this after we...I reached up and cupped his cheek, guiding his face down toward mine so our lips could meet in a soft kiss. Capturing his lower lip between mine, I held and sucked lightly, grazing my teeth over the flesh until I let him go. He bought this boat after our time underground.
Leading me once again, Luca was walking faster now as if in a hurry to get moving. The only pause was to lift the rope keeping the boat attached to the small pier. No one else was on board. We ducked under an archway to a covered portion for a sitting area with a small bar as well as the wheel.
The thud of our bags being dropped broke my attention from briefly looking around at the white leather built in sofas, light wood table and bar. Instead, I watched Luca as he crossed the helm and took a seat in the large white leather chair, turn the key and bring the engine to life.
Smoothly, he guided the vessel from its spot in the harbor through the dark water. I took a seat behind him on the long built-in white leather couch admiring the view of the wind whipping at his wavy locks. Resting my hand on his broad shoulder, I was overwhelmed by a temptation I was unwilling and unable to fight.
I rose from my spot and leisurely sauntered my way around the vast chair, stopping when I was standing between his legs. Luca held the wheel with one hand and rested the other on his left thigh. Leaning in, I began peppering light kisses from his cheek, jaw then his neck. I ran my fingertips lightly through the dark chest hair peeking through the teasingly unbuttoned linen shirt. His jaw clenched and eyes rolled closed as I kissed my way down his chest.
Finally Luca's eyes flicked down to me as I knelt between his legs. I innocently batted my eyelashes shyly while slowly unbuckling his belt.
"Do boats have autodrive like cars?" I asked, smirking deviously as a single finger slowly eased the zipper down. Luca nodded and swallowed hard, his adam's apple bobbed at the gesture. "Good," I grinned. "You're gonna want to put the boat in that setting."
Quickly Luca leaned forward and hit a few buttons on a screen to his right. I took that opportunity to ease his pants down in back then he lifted his hips to help me get them down further. Slender fingers raked through my hair as our eyes met again. I licked my lips them eased down toward the prize risen to greet me.
Soft grunts and moans flowed to my ears as I continued. His fingers gripped into my hair to stabilize. Relentlessly I gave steady, firm attention until I felt Luca's body shutter, tense then explode.
The hand in my hair roamed down to cup my cheek as I rose to sit up. Luca's cheeks were flushed a very masculine rose, lips parted, eyes wide in genuine surprise. He guided me to rise farther, one hand behind my thigh easing my leg to bend. I knew what he wanted. I settled onto Luca's lap, straddling him so those warm hands could rest on my hips. One slid around my back pulling me closer until I was embraced tightly in his strong arm.
We sat like that for a long while. My cheek rested on his shoulder but I could feel his steady heartbeat. I fell asleep comforted, safe and loved.
A warm hand rubbed large circles on my back as Luca's deep voice rumbled from his chest, "We're here, amore."
Sleepily, I sat up and peered around us. Taking my hand in his, Luca led us from the helm to the back of the boat to gather up our bags. The boat was parked in another harbor and someone was tieing down the rope on the dock. A man dressed in all white took both bags to set them on the back of a golf cart. Luca lifted me out of the boat, guiding me to sit on one of the seats of the cart.
"This will be our transportation while we are here," Luca explained as he took the key, placed it in the ignition and turned.
He draped an arm over my shoulders, pulling me firmly into his side as he drove the golf cart through the bustling little town. I had no idea where we were and was about to ask when I saw the sign, "Welcome to Catalina Island." All my years living in Los Angeles and I had never been here.
We drove through the town following the street out of the bustling nightlife into a more residential area. The sign "Hamilton Cove" gave a hint to our final destination. I stared out at my view throughout the beautiful drive. Even though it was dark, the lights along the road lit up the scenery. This truly was a gorgeous island.
Soon Luca pulled up to a vast white house. "House" was not even accurate because this structure was huge. Small spot lights along the drive and walkway pointed upward lit up the whitewashed house and spanish style tile roof giving it a golden glow. A low rumbling overhead drew my attention away. Ominous dark clouds were quickly rolling in, threatening to bring torrents of rain with a summer storm.
One side of the double wrought iron doors opened and Luca gestured for me to go in first. The enclosed foyer looked elegant even in the dark creating a hallway leading to the rest of the house. The soft clunking of our bags hitting the tile echoed behind me followed shortly by the door closing. I made a complete 360 turn, gazing around at the details. A vaulted ceiling, elaborately painted tiles on the floor, wrought iron chandeliers directly above us then its twin a few paces away guiding toward the stairs. I only had those few breaths to take it in before eager hands gripped my waist.
(A/N Pretend it's night)
Whirled around and pushed against the cool wall, Luca's lips eagerly found mine. His tongue pushed passed the seam of my lips searching my own. I answered his call without hesitation, drawn to him like a magnet. Warm hands slid around to my lower back then down to cup my backside and squeeze. I moaned softly into his mouth as my body lit vibrantly with desire for him. Everything else faded away in this moment.
Breaking for a breath, I pulled back when Luca dove forward again which made him pause. Blazing emerald orbs locked onto mine beneath furrowed brows.
"Aren't you going to show me around?" I smirked, my voice ragged and heavy.
He grinned back at me, eyes flicking from my eyes to lips then back. "Tomorrow," his husky voice sent a shiver down my spine. "There is only one room I am interested in showing you tonight."
My breath hitched and I drew my lower lip between my teeth, dragging them across the rosy flesh. "Well let's get going then," I winked then pushed Luca off of me and began sauntering toward the stairs.
The soft clicking of my heels bounced around the air as I ascended the tile covered stairs. My hand held onto the cold wrought iron railing. A quick glance over my shoulder revealed Luca hastily gathering our bags and quickly following.
Before stepping onto the stairs, I caught a glimpse of what I guessed was a living room and hint of a large kitchen. Now at the top of the stairs, I stepped onto the loft like landing connected to a hallway on the left and the right. The floor to ceiling window with rectangular panes was dark now with night but I was sure that during the day it would give a breathtaking view. Surveying from left to right through the darkness, I didn't know which way to go until I felt the heat of Luca behind me.
"It's this way," he whispered, the glint of mischief alight in his eyes.
I followed his confidently striding form down the dark hallway to the left. My heart sped up the closer to the large double doors we came. Luca opened the door and entered first with our bags then turned on a light.
The sleek white walls glowed a light yellow under the dull light. Crown molding along the seam of the ceiling and walls went flawlessly with the dark hardwood floors. Now I knew the dark wood went throughout the house, at least what I had seen when I thought it was the lack of light. A large bed was centered on the far wall, two beige armchairs with a low table in between sat adjacent, a flat screen TV mounted on the wall and a dark wood dresser sat across the bed.
All in all, the room was breathtaking. Once again, though, I only got a brief moment to absorb it before I felt Luca standing behind me lightly kissing at the side of my neck.
"L-Luca," I whimpered reaching behind me to rake my fingers through his hair. The rumbled growl that came from his lips made my eyes roll closed as he kissed with heightening determination.
