DUAL LIGHTING

Basically two light sources hitting an object or model like this :

It's kinda easy ish–depending on where the light's coming from. I'll teach you the basics of how to do simple dual lighting.

+Get your pretty model lady

+ Choose your colours. Colours that go well in dual light are usually : RED-BLUE, GREEN-PINK, GREEN-YELLOW, AQUA-PURPLE. I chose red and blue

+Paint the first half of the face with a red airbrush and set it to overlay/ multiply

+Paint the whites of the eyes with white and set it to add then reduce opacity.

+Do the same thing for the other side but in blue

+ Using airbrush (wow shocker) brush the parts of the face where light hits with the dual colours and set it to add.

+ Red + Blue = purple, so right in the middle I airbrush a purple colour and set to multiply or overlay.

+ I use my airbrush and brush around some areas close to the body.

THE DON'TS OF HIGHLIGHTING

1). Using Blending mode "Normal"

Don't ever use normal to highlight anything unless you're highlighting on pure black. Stick to Screen, linear Dodge and Add.

2. Reduce opacity for lighting like this :

It makes your lighting look GRAINY.

if you think the light is too bright then reduce the brightness of the background.

3. Forgetting about shadows.

Light casts shadows, usually in the opposite direction. If lighting is coming from the back then the front will be dark. If left, then the right side will have a shadow and vise versa. Don't ever forget that.

4. Doing whatever the fuck this is

Lmao there's so much wrong with this that I don't even know where to start–

But just remember, like in the last chapter that your lighting has a radius. So stop being lazy and use your airbrush.

5. Using disgusting colours

Grain, my friends. This lighting is grainy because of the colour (and the quality but another chap)

If the colour looks disgusting to you then it's disgusting and you should fix it

Your gaussian blur also goes a long way my guys.
