There was an awkward silence between you two. Souji and Ian sat face to face with you in the cafe. Both didn't know how to start the conversation.
The waiter, Chiaki, came back and asked if they wanted any drinks.
"Cream soda please." both you and Souji said at the same time and then looked at each other but quickly broke the gaze.
Ian coughed slightly and ordered his, "Americano for me. Arigato." Chiaki nodded and headed back in.
"Y/N, listen--I..." Souji said, trying to search for the right words.
"So you knew all along?" was the only that came out from you.
"I---Why didn't you tell me?" Souji asked you back.
"This is my own problem. I don't want to bother you." you retorted back. You didn't to come out as rude, but couldn't help it.
"Y/N-" Souji was about to say something but Ian stopped him.
"Name-chan, we really didn't mean to spy on you. Boy-yah was just worried for you. Could you please tell us what happened? How much money do you owe them left? Maybe we can think of something and help you." Ian said softly.
You looked at him and sighed.
"It all started when I was in (foreign country). Life was pretty good until my father started gambling, listening to his 'so-called' friends. Afterward, he borrowed money from some gangs here in Japan and signed some stupid contracts that mom and I will be responsible for his actions." you stated, trying not to cry.
Souji looked at you and clenched his fists. Not because he was angry at you, maybe he was at the fact that you hid all of this from him. But he was more worried for you. He felt angry at himself for not being there or reaching out.
Ian handed you a tissue. You gladly took it and wiped the tears before continuing. "So when he lost the gamble, debt started pouring in. He immediately abandoned us and my mom wanted to return here and pay them. Unfortunately, the deadline was too hard on her, so in order to get their money back fast. They decided to capture her a hostage and ordered me to pay the rest."
You paused. As the boys trying to take in the information, Chiaki came back with the drinks and then left.
You took a sip of the drink, trying not to look at Souji.
"How much does your father owe them?" Ian asked.
"2 million yen." you stated. The boys' eyes widened.
"But I already paid them 1 million yen." you told them, "so I only have 1 million yen left," you explained.
"Where did get that much money?" Souji asked. Finally spoken for the first time. You glanced to the side.
"It's just my savings from my part-time jobs back in the (foreign country)..." you stated.
"You earned that much?" Ian asked in disbelief.
"Did you sold the house in (foreign country) too?" Souji asked. Ian turned to Souji. You looked up in surprise.
"How--" you were about to ask him but he answered it.
"I know you, N/N. We've been together since babies, remember?" Souji said, his tone was soft.
Memories of you two hanging out started to flow back in your mind. You couldn't help but smile at it, but quickly covered it.
"Well...now you know the story. Please stay out of it," you stated.
"Why?" Souji asked.
"Because you don't how dangerous they might be," you told him, looking straight into his eyes.
"You should look at yourself first," Souji stated, a bit harsher than usual.
"Yah Boy-yah.." Ian warned him.
"As long as you guys stay out of it, I should be fine." you retorted back.
"Name-chan" Ian tried to warn you too.
"So you want to leave you be like that. With those dangerous guys chasing after you!" Souji asked, raising his voice.
"You two stop!" Ian stated, but both you and Souji didn't listen. People in the cafe started glancing at you two.
"Yes. That what I'm saying. I can handle it myself." you stated. You stood up.
"Fine then!" Souji stated. He walked out of the cafe. You finally slumped down on your chair and breathe out.
"Name-chan. He was just worry about you, you know." Ian explained.
"I know, Ian-san. But I do not want to get him in this mess." You said. "I'll go now." You stated.
"Where?" Ian asked, stopping you from leaving.
"I'm gonna pack and probably move to a friend's house for now." you said.
"But what if they come for you and your friend?" Ian pointed out.
"Then I guess...I'll go back to my old house." you replied, realizing his point.
"No. That's not what I meant. How about you come to Amy's house or my house? At least they don't know anything about us." Ian suggested.
You shook your head. "That would make thing more worse. I don't want to cause any harms to you guys."
"Nonsense. I know you want to move out cause you don't want that awkward tension between you and Boy-yah. So will you agree?" Ian pleaded. You looked at him.
"Fine. But wouldn't that bother you from dating with your girls?" you asked, teasing him.
"Oh my! Of course not! Where did you even get that thought?" Ian pretended to be caught. You giggled.
"Arigato Ian-san." you smiled at him.
"Anytime." Ian smiled back.
"So my house or Amy-chan's mansion?" Ian asked.
"Amy-chan's mansion then." you said, "but wouldn't that bother Amy and her family?" you asked.
"No worries. Her parents are not here right now. Only she and Gentle-san, Amy's butler, live there." Ian explained.
"Oh okay." you stated.
You two finished up your drinks and paid before heading back to Souji's house and packed up.
