YURI feels a headache coming. She can't take it any longer — her house was a mess. Her father and step-mother were curled up together on the couch in the living room while her younger siblings make loud noise in their bedrooms. Her younger sister was chatting loudly to her friends, her two younger brothers were fighing over who got to play the guitar and piano. She wants them all to shut up.

      Then, the doorbell rings.

      "I'M OPENING IT!" Screeches Yuri's sister, her footsteps were heavy on the ground as Yuri swings open her bedroom door.

      "NO!" Screams Yuri, chasing after her sister.

      "I WANT TO OPEN IT!" Her two younger brothers yell in unison, hot on Yuri's trail.

      "SLOW DOWN AND STOP RUNNING!" Yuri's father yells, his feet also heavy on the ground behind Yuri. Her step-mother was the only sane one, her footsteps light on the ground as she walks behind the family scrambling for the door, sipping on her wine.

      Yuri's sister reaches the door first, but Yuri shoves her hard against the wall next to them and fumbles with the door, fending off her siblings. She finally gets the door open and swings it open, hitting on of her brothers in the process. "Shit, sorry!" Yuri squeaks, ruffling the head closest to her, her eyes focused upon a wide-eyed Yang Jungwon.

       "Uh, hey Jungwon, sorry, this is my family," Yuri's blushing once more.

      Jungwon gives Yuri's family his dimpled smile before bowing as he introduces himself. After all the introductions, Yuri drags Jungwon into her room, ignoring her father's yell for her to leave open the bedroom door — she slams it loudly behind her. Her back was pressed against the door and her chest heaves dramatically as Jungwon surveys his surroundings.

       "Sorry about them," Yuri says, "they're all stupid. I don't see why they wanted to meet you, you're not all that interesting. Just another teenager like I am. Raging hormones and such."

       For some reason, Jungwon grows awkward and fumbles around for his bag, "uh, yeah," he clears his throat, "like any other teenager."

      Moving away from the door, Yuri grabs her things from her bed and lies down on her stomach, her legs swinging in the air, "join me, Jungwon."

      Jungwon sits across from Yuri pulling his things from his bag. Yuri watches him silently. The silence doesn't last for long because Yuri's younger brother's yelling grows louder which makes Yuri's sister yell at them from a different room. Yuri groans and hides her head in her face. She was so embarrassed. Like, super embarrassed.

     "Sorry about them," she says through her hands as Jungwon smiles at her embarrassment.

     "It's fine," Jungwon waves off Yuri's apology, "I'm used to loud noises at home."

      "Oh, right," for some reason, Yuri feels awkward. She clears her throat and opens her book, "right so, any song ideas?"

     Immediately, the pair get down to work. The frustration of loud and distracting noises wear off as Jungwon constantly assures Yuri that it's fine and he's used to loud and distracting noises.

      "Oh wow, look at the time, do you want a break?" Yuri says as she checks her phone, ignoring the pile of notifications that lay waiting for her to open. Mostly were from her groupchat with Ji-Woo and Seo-Jun. Yuri doesn't wait for Jungwon's answer, she stands up and gestures for him to follow her.

      They enter the kitchen after passing by Yuri's father and step-mother in the living room. "We have some cookies that my sister made a couple days ago. They're surprisingly good," Yuri tells Jungwon as she pushes the plate of cookies to him, taking one herself. "Do you want water? Or juice?" She opens the fridge and inspects what food and drinks they have stored away.

      "I don't care, surprise me," Jungwon says after finishing his first mouthful of the cookies in front of him.

     Yuri pours two glasses of juice and comes to sit beside Jungwon, helping herself to more cookies. Together, they eat silently in the kitchen, the only noise coming from Yuri's brothers creating music with their piano and guitar. It was never silent in the Choi household, and sometimes Yuri hated it. She wants peace and quiet so she can gather her thoughts.

      Yuri sighs and turns to look at Jungwon but she already finds him looking at her. Yuri blushes at the fact and glances away, Ha-Eun's text echoing in her head. With another sigh, Yuri turns back to Jungwon, their eyes meeting. "Jungwon, I'm curious, do you —" she cuts herself off and blushes again. She can't believe she's asking this. Ji-Woo will rip into her. "Do you like someone?"

      Jungwon chokes on his cookie.

     Yuri only watches him as he eventually saves himself from probable death. "What? Um, no, I don't like someone. Is this about what happened with Do-Yun the other day? I just turned her down because I wasn't interested. That's all. I do not like someone — and even if I did I wouldn't really have any time for them."

      Yuri has to hide her amused smile. "Oh, okay."

     Yuri's cat, Biscuit enters the kitchen, "that's our cat, Biscuit," Yuri tells Jungwon as the black and white cat approaches them both. Yuri slips off the chair and onto the ground, her hands sliding through Biscuit's fur. Jungwon shortly follows Yuri, stretching out beside her on the ground with a couple cookies in his hand.

      Biscuit was a sociable cat, so upon seeing Jungwon beside Yuri, he leaves Yuri's side and pokes around Jungwon. Yuri watches Jungwon interact with Biscuit and can't help but compare Jungwon to her cat. "You know, I've never actually heard you sing," Yuri says, fixing her hair, "you should sing something for me so I know you aren't joking about being a singer."

      "Oh, sure," Jungwon clears his throat, watching Biscuit leave them both alone in the kitchen once more.

     Jungwon sounds like an angel. His voice captivates Yuri; she swears time has stopped. It's only her listening to Jungwon sings, frozen in time while the rest of the world passes by.

      "Wow, you are a really good singer," compliments Yuri when Jungwon finishes the verse he'd sung for Yuri, "you could be an idol with that voice if you auditioned. Anyway, what was that song? I don't think I've ever heard it before."

      "It's called Into the I-Land," Jungwon answers, smiling fondly.

     "I'll look it up later — if I remember. We should finish up the writing we have to do and figure out what the hell we're doing with our idea. How many songs do you want to record? How can we record them? Like, use a recording studio or something? Also, do we just use like a karaoke version or should we use the school's music department?" Yuri rambles absentmindly to Jungwon as they walk out of the kitchen and back to her room.

      "I can ask around and see if we can use a recording studio," Jungwon tells Yuri, "I have connections."

      Yuri grins at Jungwon, "intriguing, I also have connections to the music department. Let me work my magic!"
