You reached your hand delicately into the bag. You felt something smooth, like a pebble. It also felt like the texture of string. You pulled it out and saw a small blue gem attached tied by a string. It was a necklace. And you knew exactly who that necklace belonged to. "Oooh! That's Hiei's!" Yusuke said, smirking. "Y/n, you're in trouble!" You growled a bit, trying to take his focus from your blush. "Into the closet, you two!" Yusuke said, smirking. You and Hiei both glared angrily at Yusuke and walked slowly into the closet.

You were scared. Hiei had no idea that you had a crush on him. And you intended to keep it that way. Yusuke closed the door and smirked. "Seven minutes!!!!" he called. You sighed and stared at Hiei. "S...So umm..." You were terrible at starting conversations around him.

"How have you been?" Hiei asked, his arms folded in their usual way. You smiled. "I've been alright, Hiei." Truth was, you were terrible. But if you told Hiei that, he'd go to your school and raise holy hell! There was no way you could tell him how your week really was! Please, you thought. Please believe that....Please just leave it at that. You thought as you looked down. Hiei frowned at you. "Y/n...I know you're lying." he said plainly. You gulped, then sighed. Arguments would get you nowhere with him. That eye in the middle of his forehead keyed him in to everything. When you were lying. How you were feeling. And a bunch of other things.(Hell, if he wanted to, he could read your mind and see that you had a crush on him!)

Hiei scooted closer to you and voice softened. "Y/n...You know you can tell me anything, right?" he said. You sighed heavily. "Hiei...I'm scared..." you admitted, tears falling down your face. You'd never cried in front of ANYONE before, but Hiei was the exception. No matter what, he'd always listen to what you had to say. He was the only person (other than Yusuke and Kurama) that you felt comfortable talking to!

His blood red eyes gazed deeply into your e/c (eye color) ones. "Of what?" he asked. You sobbed and melted in his arms, hugging him. You gripped his tunic a bit as you cried against him. "Of losing control...If I hurt someone I cared about....Someone I loved...If I hurt Yusuke or Kurama or even you I...!" Hiei's eyes widened. "Wait a minute!  Y/n...Did...you just say...You loved me?" he asked. You gasped and covered your mouth. Damn it! you scolded yourself internally. Way to go, Y/n...You just RUINED your friendship with Hiei! 

Hiei frowned, getting more and more impatient by the second. "Answer the question, Y/n..." he said. You blushed deeply and nodded. "Yes...I did," You finally admitted. "And I do love you...But we can't be together. I'm too afraid...That I'll lose control and hurt you or WORSE! And if that happened, I...Mmph!" You were cut off as Hiei's lips made full contact with yours. You blushed as you realized what was happening. Hiei was KISSING you! Immediately, you closed your eyes and kissed back. (And why WOULDN'T you? Kissing him was all you thought and dreamed about!) 

After a moment, Hiei pulled away. "Y/n...You aren't going to lose control. And even if by some strange incident you do...I'll be there to pull you back into reality...Back to me. Because..." he trailed off long enough to kiss your cheek and smile a bit. "Because I love you too," he finished. You were so happy, you couldn't control yourself! You pulled him into another kiss, which he greedily accepted and kissed you back. You blushed deeply and reached for the buttons on his shirt. No sooner had you unbuttoned it, then you heard a very loud and recognizable sound of a camera shutter. CLICK! 

You growled angrily as you saw Yusuke had a picture of you about to take Hiei's shirt off and Hiei's hand snaking up yours. "Hahaha! Okay, that's one for the photo album!" Yusuke said as he smirked. You growled and stood up, ready to tear Yusuke's HEAD off, but Hiei beat you to it. Hiei pulled his sword, glaring angrily at Yusuke. "Listen, Detective," Hiei said, using a tone of voice you hadn't heard since he fought Zeru at the Dark Tournament. "If you even THINK about showing that picture of Y/n and me to ANYONE ELSE outside this party, you're DEAD! Get me?!" 

Yusuke gulped and nodded, tossing the picture into the trash. "What picture were we talking about?" he asked as he smiled, hoping Hiei wouldn't kill him. Hiei smirked, sheathing his sword again. "That's what I thought," he said as he helped you up from the closet floor.  Once you were far enough out of earshot Hiei smiled at you. "Y/n..." he said as he blushed. "I love you." You smiled and kissed him again. When you pulled away, you were blushing as well. "I love you too, Hiei." 

He quickly teleported you home and smiled. "Sleep now..." he said softly as he pulled the covers over you. You yawned and smiled. "G...Goodnight, my Fire Apparition." you said as you closed your eyes. Before you fell asleep, you felt Hiei kiss your head and heard him say, "Goodnight, my goddess. I promise to protect you...No matter what." You smiled and gladly gave in to sleep, taking comfort in knowing that Hiei would always be by your side.
