...........Moriah..........
It's now 6 days after our wedding and i hadn't left the hotel suite. I had watched almost show on Netflix and completely re-watched all the Disney Princess movies.
Zane would sometimes leave early in the morning and come back late at night. When he got back he would always shower and then go strait to the couch and start typing on his laptop. Twice I heard him receive a call and then he got dressed quickly and left the hotel.
I don't know what he's been doing. I don't know where he's been. But I have a feeling that if I asked he might get defensive and that's not something I want to start on the first week of marriage.
Heading to my suit case I opened it and dug thru. My fingers searched the bag until I found what I was looking for. With great joy I pulled out the white one piece swimsuit. I quickly undress and replace my clothes with the suit.
Finding my favorite pair of black converse I slipped them on, grabbed my phone, and headed for the door. Much to my surprise, the door was locked. I tried the nob again. Nothing. Suddenly the door swung open smacking me in the process and sending me flying into the wall.
"Mrs. Blade." I heard a voice call. "Mrs. blade! Where are you?"
"I'm here." I say pushing the door away from me and releasing me. Now able to see who hit me with the door I understood why I went flying. The man before me was at least six and a half feet tall and was made of pure muscle. He held a pistol in hand ready for action.
"Is everything okay?" He asked looking around the room frantically.
"I believe so." I say confused before I understood who this man was. Zane had a bodyguard watching over me.
Why this aggravated me beyond belief I don't know. "Look, I am going down to the pool for a while. Why don't you do a surveillance sweep of the room huh?"
The man stops me before I reach the door. "Sorry, Mrs blade, I can not let you leave."
"Says who?"
"Your husband."
"Well." I choose my next words carefully. "How's about this, big guy. I go down the the pool for a few hours or so and I will be back before he ever gets here. Like nothing ever happened. Kay?"
"No, miss." He replied and I nodded my head in understanding.
Understanding...hah! Yah right...understanding that I needed to get out of here.
My own personal giant left a few moments later leaving me alone. I changed back into my clothes and started making supper in the small kitchen. After I had eaten and cleaned the kitchen again I set out to tidy the rooms.
4 hours later zane walked in the suite. His Black suit and white dress shirt made him look strait out of a magazine. As usual he didn't speak he just moved to the couch and started typing away on his laptop.
"Ahem." I clear my throat but he doesn't look up. "Zane."
"Mhm" he grunts from his place. His eyes never leaving the screen.
"I met my doorman today." I say a grin on my lips. "He wouldn't let me leave." This made Zane stop and look up at me.
"Why would you need to leave?"
"I wanted to go to the pool." I explain.
"It's not safe."
"Safe? We're in a 5 star hotel AND I have my own personal bouncer. What could possibly be 'not safe'?"
"we're having a few unexpected bumps on the way to telling the western mafia that they have a new leader. People may be out to harm you and keeping you safe in here is best for you."
"How often is he there?" I asked hoping he had like a lunch break I could escape on.
"he gets here I leave. he leaves when I get back"
"Zane. I know you know what's best, but I just wanted to go to the pool downstairs. There could be like no danger there."
"We can't take the chance. You will stay here. End of discussion." He states shutting his laptop and standing. "I'm going to take a shower."
I don't answer him as I start getting ready for bed. I peel the covers back and fluff the pillows. His presence behind me was evident but I didn't turn around, Afraid of what might happen if I did.
His breathing was all I could hear, telling me he was very close. Then he was gone.
...............
My swimsuit fit me just right. I slipped back on my converse and readied my plan.
Knowing that my Goliath was outside the door I readied myself. I stepped outside the doors swing so I wouldn't get hurt again and started my charade.
"No please don't hurt me!" I yelled then waited. Sure enough the door nob unlocked and then flew open. I then slipped behind the couch.
"Mrs blade!" I heard him yell. When I didn't answer I heard his footsteps rushing to the bedroom. I made my run.
I dashed thru the door and down the hallway. Skipping the elevator I ran down the stairs as fast as I could.
Before I knew it I was in the hotel pool room. "Mission complete." I smiled to myself. The pool house was covered by glass windows and ceilings. Hanging baskets filled with flowers hung everywhere. I found a chair and laid my stuff down.
I allowed myself to swim and relax all I wanted. People filled the pool and sides but I didn't notice them. The cool water covered my body washing away my troubles.
I pushed myself under water soaking in the feeling of freedom. reaching my hand up, I skimmed the top as my body slowly rose back to the surface.
2 arms grabbed my body forcing me from the water. I gasped for air trying all I could to breath. the arms wrapped around my torso pulling me closer.
I shoved the persons chest as hard as I could before they finally pulled their
Body from mine. The first thing that I saw was the tattoo on his upper arm and I knew I was in trouble.
"Zane I didn't see you coming." I looked around the pool to see everyone had left except for Zane and my giant who sat by the door on guard.
"Exactly. What if someone came in here and took you. You couldn't save yourself." He looked enraged. Like all he could do was sit here and hold me and that was what was keeping him from blowing up.
"I'm sorry." I say looking down. He still had me wrapped in his protective arms. "How did you know I was gone?"
"He told me." He tilted his head towards my body guard.
"Tattle tail." I grumbled but the slight smile on the bodyguard face indicated that he had heard me.
"Angel, what were you thinking"
"I think that this angel nickname thing has to stop, and I think that if you want me to stay inside and sit still then you're going to be very disappointed." I push out of his arms but he grabs my hand and slowly pulls me back.
"angel," he started and I opened my mouth to protest but then decide against it. his fingers ran over my wedding ring. "what this for?"
"its my ring zane." I sigh.
" the ring that claims you as mine. mine to protect. mine to care for. mine to hold."
"I can take care of myself zane." I glare.
"I don't doubt that." he chuckled.
"and for the holding part." I pull my hand from his. " that's not yours."
he slowly backed away and nodded. "you swim for a while I've cleared the pool there's no threats now. ill sit on the side and work."
I nod. "thank you zane."
.......zane........
I walk from the pool and grab one of the towels to dry off. with a side glance I watch her, she leans back and slight push propels herself thru the water. once again Im mesmerized.
this girl confuses me with every word that escapes her mouth. I keep expecting her to pout or just yell or maybe even break down crying. She never does. She stands strong and she doesn't complain. she puts me in my place.
She's different.
Every time she's close every instinct in my body says to grab her and pull her close and do so many things to her. Then the voice in the back of my head remembers why I married her to begin with. I married her to keep her away from a man doing just what my entire body tells me to do.
"Zane." She says stepping out of the water.
"Yes angel?"
"We can go now." She whispers attempting to cover herself with a towel.
Grabbing my black button up shirt from the table next to me I hand it to her.
"Put it on."
She shrugs on the shirt while watching me with a weary eye. "Your pants." She says as I slip my white undershirt on.
"What?"
"You got your pants wet when you got in the pool."
"Don't worry about it angel" I shrug it off.
"There ruined." She crinkled her eyebrows.
"Look I said-"
The glass shattered around us. I grabbed Moriah and ran dragging her behind a fallen table.
⚠️ Warning people are bout to die.. ⚠️
"What's happening?!" She yelled clinging to my chest.
"Someone's shooting! I need to get you safe." A bullet flew past my head splintering through a nearby chair and table.
"King. Shooter on your 6!" Slater (Moriah's bodyguard) yelled. Looking around I spotted my pistol on a nearby table.
"Stay here!" I yelled over the gunfire blazing everywhere. Not giving her a chance to answer I made my run grabbing my gun I aimed at the nearby guy and shot him. His body landing on the ground with a satisfying thump.
Slater had 2 guys down already but there were still more. Spotting a few more men I took my aim and shot them both. Then there was silence. I stayed in my place watching for any movement.
"Survey the area!" I yelled to slater and he nodded while reloading his pistol and then grabbing a m16 from a nearby body.
Moriah
I turn to find her still huddled where I left her. My ears were still ringing loudly from the gunshots but I could still hear her cries.
Rushing to her side I kneeled next to her. "Hey. hey. It's okay your safe now." She looked into my eyes and within a second her venerable side was gone. She wiped her tears and looked around. With a steady hand I assisted her in standing.
The scene before us couldn't have been worse. The once closed in glass room now was just metal outlines. The flowers baskets where blown apart. The pool filling with a red liquid and flowers floating ontop.
"Zane. " she whispered and I turned back to her.
Her hand was coated in the unmistakable red.
"Zane. You've been shot." As soon as she said the words I could feel the pain in my side. The fabric of my shirt dipped in red.
Slater came back on the scene and with a few words Moriah and him assisted in getting me back to the room undetected. Once inside the locked room Moriah ordered slater to lay me on the bed.
"It's fine. I barely even feel it." I protest but one glare from her shuts me up.
"I have a medical kit." Slater says going to the closet and pulling out a suitcase. "I had it brought here with your stuff." Moriah thanked him and grabbed the kit. "I'll go keep watch." with that he left the room.
"Let me see." She orders opening the kit on the bed next to me.
"Angel, it's not that bad-" I start. With an aggravated grunt she reaches over and gently pulled my shirt off. A cut was found on my side. She got right to work applying gauss to the wound.
"Who were those men?" She asked.
"My guess would be the people I warned you about."
"They're after me?"
"Only a few."
There was silence as she kept working.
" Zane I'm so stupid." She sighed, "what if you hadn't been there? What if there were people there? What if-"
"Angel it's not your fault. nothing happened that won't be fixed"
"But something could have happened."
I didn't answer and she finished in silence. "There. you're done. It wasn't a bullet wound though. It came from a piece of glass. It's not deep so in maybe in 2 weeks you'll be fully healed and won't even notice it. Just don't push it to hard."
She stood and packed up her supplies. "I'm going to check on the guard." And before I could stop her she was out the room.
