You can come back here and check this out after you reach Arc 2. The glossary just gives you a brief view of the world-building of the fic, nothing really important here.

1. Necromancer - Necromancy

A Necromancer is a witch or a wizard who practices Necromancy.

Necromancy is the practice of magic, or to be more precise, Death's Magic (dark magic) involving communication with the dead by summoning their spirits as apparitions or visions, or by resurrection for divination.

A Necromancer has many different abilities:

Immortality: A Necromancer is said to have the ability to become immortal after completing a contract with Death. They will become the Master of Death and are nearly indestructible.Divination: Not all Necromancers have the same abilities, although according to the amount of magic in their bodies they can summon dead people/creatures to ask about the future. Not only that, Necromancer can also ask about mysterious matters that have been lost in history. Or learn more about knowledge that has never been made public or answered.Blood Magic: Arguably one of the most dangerous forms of dark magic. Necromancers often use blood as a conduit in their rituals. The blood can be from animals or their own.Resurrection: One of the Necromancer's most special skills. They can resurrect the dead - turning them into undead (zombies), or even if strong enough, can completely revive them.Manipulation: Also an ability of the Necromancer. They must muster a great deal of power to control living things and make them do as they please. This ability also works on dead creatures and will consume less magic. Their power also applies to other dark creatures: vampires, and undead.Osteomancy: One of Necromancer's least known skills. Similar to Divination, instead of summoning the dead or spirits, they can see the past, the future, or the present through touching the remains (bones). But few Necromancers can do this, Osteomancy is said to be a mysterious gift of theirs.Mediumship: The most common ability, seeing and talking to the spirits of the dead.

As recorded in the history of magic, Necromancers were considered dark wizards, and usually only worked in groups. They were a closed group of wizards who had no contact with the wizarding community. In Merlin's era, the Necromancers were among the most powerful wizards as they were said to be witnesses to the boundary between the dead and the living. But after Merlin's era, the Necromancers also disappeared, their documents were almost destroyed, and the Ministry of Magic listed Necromancy as a particularly dangerous type of dark magic.

Shu Yamino is the only Necromancer to appear since the era of Merlin.

There are no documents or explanations as to why Shu is a Necromancer. According to conjecture, perhaps a long time ago between him and Death had a certain connection. Over time (possibly after reincarnation), Shu returned as Master, as well as a companion of Death, and was recognized as a Necromancer.

Necromancers are said to be dark wizards, and extremely evil. Not having too much connection with life but spending their whole life close to Death makes their emotions fade away, gradually losing their human characteristics and feelings: altruism, and moral affection.

Necromancers are also known to be very bad at Potions because their magic is pure dark magic, they have a lot of trouble controlling their abilities when making potions. Necromancers are good at subjects like Charms, Transfiguration, Ancient Languages, and Divination.

2. Sorceress/Mage

First of all, it is necessary to understand that Mage and Sorceress are two completely different concepts in this work. A Mage is a Wixen who uses spells, usually, they use light magic. And what they get is through a long process of study and research. A Mage can be the teacher of many other witches and wizards.

Meanwhile, the Sorcerer/Sorceress is a mystical, dangerous, and much more powerful existence than the Mage. They were born with magic. They do not need any help from wands or spells to be able to use their powers. What they need to learn is how to control and make the most of the almost limitless magical resources in their bodies. Or so to speak, the Sorceress used her magic entirely according to their will and needs.

Ivy Eveland is believed to be a Mage instead of a Sorceress. Because the Eveland family is the family with the longest history in the magical world. They exist to keep the secrets of the magical world. Eveland is said to be a direct descendant of Merlin, so it's understandable that Ivy is a Mage like her ancestors. But in reality, as a Sorceress, Ivy used magic more instinctively and willingly. Although she also absorbed a huge amount of knowledge, if it were to be classified, Ivy was a Sorceress. And also the only Sorceress since Merlin's era.

In Merlin's era, there was only one Sorceress, Morgana le Fay.

Sorceress Abilities:

Elemental Control: They can control all elemental spells. From basic elements to complex elements like lightning.Raw Magic: This is a skill that only the Sorcerer/Sorceress can use. The magic in their bodies is said to be the most primitive, and they can control even the primitive magics (Raw Magic) that exist around them, and that can make them achieve all that they desire.Extrasensory Perception: Or more precisely, the sixth sense. They can read, and feel, things that people cannot see or feel. For example, they can easily see and actualize the form of magic, or even feel the thoughts of others. Only feel, not read them.Telepathy: Quite similar to the sixth sense. But they can see and feel the emotions of those around them by seeing the aura, or how their magic changes according to the emotion. Usually, they don't necessarily have to see it, they can still feel the emotional changes of the people around them.Divination: Unlike the Necromancer, the Sorceress cannot predict the future through contact with spirits. They also do not have real prophetic powers like the Seers. What they see are blurry and often very vague images, difficult to predict exactly what that future will be. It was simply the messages that primitive magic sent them. But often the Sorceress could not decipher these prophetic images on their own.Summon: If the Necromancer needs a spell or ritual to summon, the Sorceress doesn't. They can completely use magic to summon spirits, demons, or even magical creatures to manipulate and achieve their goals. This is purely a summoning technique, they cannot communicate with spirits or the dead like Necromancers.

A Sorceress does not distinguish between magic as light or dark. Nor does it distinguish between good and bad spells. They don't have those orientations. They were born and raised with magic. To the Sorceress, magic is the most original and pure thing, they do not represent anything, but just something that helps them achieve what they want.

As Ivy said, magic does not represent good or evil, right or wrong, light or dark. Magic is not bad, a bad guy is someone who uses magic to do evil. Because of believing in the origin and simplest nature of magic, Ivy is not limited to any one field. She is perfect with everything as far as magic is concerned. Ivy is good or bad simply depending on Ivy's interests and inspiration when studying.

Everything was instinctive to Ivy, so she was a true Sorceress, not a Mage. No one knows why Ivy is the Sorceress. Because the Eveland family has no relation to Morgana le Fay, however, many believe that the Sorceress existed by the choice of Mother Magic - the source of all magic (except for Death's Magic). Ivy is said to be the child that Mother Magic loves the most.

3. Types of MagicRaw Magic: As magic that has never been transformed, they are present everywhere, existing around everyone. Usually, children under the age of eleven, if their senses are unstable, will unconsciously use Raw Magic - which is also the source of the so-called accidental magic. However, after the age of eleven, this rarely occurs, for by that time children have already begun to learn to transform one form of magic into another. The only person currently able to use Raw Magic is Sorceress Ivy Eveland.

No one knows how to control raw magic, everything related to this type of magic is purely based on desire and fluctuating emotions. This is said to be one of the most dangerous forms of magic. There is no record of controlling or possessing this power, except for Morgana le Fay.

Transformed Magic: The type of magic that must use supporting tools such as wands - to navigate and stabilize the flow of magic, spells - commands that state the user's wishes. This is the kind of magic that all Wixen know how to use. It is the same kind of magic that Wixen learn in school and practice in their daily lives.

Transformed magic is also divided into two types in the wizarding world today: light magic and dark magic. However, the origin of this type of magic is also due to the transformation from Raw Magic. So, according to what Ivy said, magic is not at all good or bad, but depends entirely on the desire and the way the user is using it.

Death's Magic: The most mystical type of magic. Only Necromancers can use these spells and rituals. Necromancy is also a part of Death's Magic. It was completely separate from the so-called Raw Magic, or more precisely, since the era of Merlin, the first Necromancer to contract with Death created a whole new kind of magic for himself.

The Sorceress Morgana at the time was believed to have the ability to control all spells and was the most powerful sorceress, not Merlin, but in reality, she was completely unable to use Death's Magic. Because this kind of power can only be used by those who have accepted a contract with the Death. Shu Yamino is currently the only one who can use this power. This type of power requires rituals, in which magic circles and spells written in ancient languages are required.

The biggest difference between these three types:

Raw Magic doesn't need spells, doesn't need wands, just relies on the user's wishes and instincts or emotions. However, it is the most difficult type to control. Is the source of Transformed Magic. => Ivy can use both Raw Magic and Transformed Magic. The user with Raw Magic is called a Sorcerer/Sorceress.

Sorcerer/Sorceress using Raw Magic will not need to exchange any price. They just need to show what they want. Therefore, this magic is also known as instinct magic.

Transformed Magic: The most common types of magic can be used by all Wixen. Derived from Raw Magic. Spells and wands are required to be used. Ordinary Wixen can only use this magic, cannot use Raw Magic.

It has been transformed, so if you use a spell with bad intentions, it will often leave certain consequences on the user. It is not because the spell is good or bad, but because of the user's purpose that the spell will take something from them. This is also seen as the price for the transformation of magic.

Death's Magic is the only type of magic recognized as dark magic by Ivy and Morgana - two Sorceress known in the history of magic. The one who can freely use this magic is the one who signed a contract with the Death. This magic must rely on rituals and spells written in ancient languages to perform. In some rituals, sacrifices are also required.

Necromancers are the only ones who don't pay the price for performing Death's Magic. Because their contract is a covenant to accompany Death. They will live immortal lives and are forced to watch the people they love die as a price. Only when the second Necromancer is born will they be freed. Other Wixen can also use ancient spells and rituals to summon Death and temporarily make contracts. But they all have to pay for this action. Usually, the price would be the life of something or the summoner's own.

4. History of Merlin's Era

The era of the founders of Hogwarts predates the era of Merlin.

Merlin: Merlin is one of the most powerful Mages that sorted in Slytherin, as well as a symbol of the greatest wizard ever to exist in history. But in reality, Merlin is only considered a Mage, that is, a user of magic transformed from Raw Magic and possessing extensive knowledge. Merlin, pioneered and paved the way for much of the research and development of many other areas of the magical world that followed. Alchemy, for example, also has its roots in Merlin's early studies.

Merlin follows King Arthur and defends the Wixen's territory. In the process of traveling around learning and supporting Arthur, he became a member of the Knights of the Round Table under King Arthur. While traveling, Merlin met Morgana le Fay, Dominus, and Nimue.

Morgana le Fay: The only known Sorceress in history. It is said that she was born from the power of Mother Magic - also known as the magic core, the source of all Raw Magic in this world. As the daughter of Mother Magic, Morgana is a very powerful sorceress, with the ability to use every type of magic. Merlin is no match for Morgana either.

Morgana was a free-spirited witch, wandering and traveling around the world in Merlin's era. No one knows when she was born, they only know that Morgana is the one who is said to have to ally with Merlin so that the wizarding world does not forget the existence of Raw Magic, of Mother Magic. Morgana also helped Merlin and Arthur in the war to protect the territory of the wizarding world when other magical creatures wanted to eradicate Wixen.

Nimue: Traitor of the Fairy bloodline – in the Fairy's history. Nimue is considered as Morgana's companion and protector. Nimue is not only Morgana's assistant but also Morgana's best friend. History says Nimue passed away on a mission to protect Morgana from attack and capture by magical creatures. Little is known about Nimue, only that before Morgana disappeared and completely vanished, Nimue's descendants were tasked with spending their whole lives protecting the Mage line of Merlin.

Dominus: The first known Necromancer. As mentioned, Necromancers operate in secret societies. But in reality, they were just people who worshiped Death's Magic and believed in the Death, worshiping him as a God. Dominus – once the son of a faithful worshipper worshiping Death, is also the only one chosen by Death to be his companion, thus becoming the first and only Necromancer in Merlin's era.

Dominus was found by Morgana when the war raged on, the creatures joined forces to make the Wixen unable to resist. Dominus went to war and used his power to create an army of undead, bringing back the glory and peace of the wizarding world. History has since stopped recording the present of Dominus, Morgana, and Nimue.

War Between Wixen and Magical Creatures

The existence of vampires, werewolves, mermaids, fairies, and many other races is unknown to wizarding history. Because no one knows why these races exist. Morgana once explained that Mother Magic created these races, giving them her powers - they were also the first inhabitants of the wizarding world. Until the four powerful wizards, who are also the founders of Hogwarts, appeared and created the so-called transformed magic, the new wizarding society gradually developed beyond the society of these magical creatures.

Gradually losing control as witches appeared more and more, these races used their power and ability to turn innocent Wixen into their kind. From there the war also started. Before King Arthur's rule, the Wixen had to live in hiding and was threatened with constant attacks from these creatures.

The arrival of Merlin and the prophecy to bring the glory back to the Wixen begins to change all that. With her power, Merlin supported the growing wizarding society and gradually regained balance with the magical creature community. But the war continued for many years until Merlin found Morgana. The one he called 'the child most loved by Mother Magic'. With Morgana's help, the magical creature's weaknesses are gradually exposed and the situation begins to unbalance.

These creatures join forces and kidnap to kill Morgana, but because of her origins as Mother Magic's child, Morgana cannot directly kill these creatures. No matter how powerful she is, she will not be able to escape their clutches. To save Morgana, Nimue - the fairy who betrayed his race sacrificed his strength to bring Morgana back to Arthur's side. In return, Morgana issued a blessing that the entire descendants of Nimue would survive the war and would keep the mission to support and protect the Mage's line (Merlin's).

After being rescued, Morgana went to Death - the source of Death's Magic, a power beyond the control of Mother Magic, also a true dark magic recognized to exist. Death and Mother Magic are equal, one creates life, and the other takes the lives of others. They represent the most balanced balance. Because Morgana requested help, Death reached out to the child with the most potential among his worshipers - Dominus.

Dominus became a Necromancer, immortalized, and spent his life supporting Morgana and Merlin against magical creatures. But the price of asking for Death's Magic to join their force, when the war ended, Morgana was forced to vanish because she turned an ordinary person into an immortal (Dominus).

When the war ended, Merlin kept his promise to Morgana not to exterminate all of these creatures. Both Arthur and Merlin divided the land for these creatures to live in, as well as enacted laws to protect them, helping them live in peace with Wixen. Since then, Morgana has disappeared under a contract with Death, and no one knows where Dominus's whereabouts are.

5. Sacred Families

Or to put it simply, real families that still hold "pure-blood" in the wizarding world.

Eveland: This is at the top of the list, not because of its long history, but because it's a family that holds the tradition of the best pure-blooded families. Eveland is a family that accepts only children born with blue hair and golden eyes. That appearance is the expression of the ancient bloodline that they possess and preserve. It takes a hundred years for such a child to be born. And only that child can be the heir. The others, too, were counted as pure-blooded wizards, but they were not named in the Eveland genealogy even though they still carried the family name.Rias: Different from society's thoughts and prejudices. Rias is one of the pure-blooded families that are traditionally Hufflepuffs because of their integrity and loyalty to their friendships and relationships. Rias is the family with the second oldest history after Eveland.Grant: One of the mysterious wizarding families no less than Eveland. Grants are Wixen who exist to protect the Eveland bloodline. They were a family that had sworn to serve the Eveland family for the rest of their lives and were rarely seen in public. It is not clear what the current situation of this family is.Avery: A family is known for supporting light magic. They were one of the most conservative families, refusing to accept any form of dark magic. Also the proud family and proud of its history of worshiping light magic.Black: This is the opposite of the Avery family. Black believes in dark magic that can help them perpetuate and protect their bloodline from contamination from half-blood families or Muggle-born wizards. Black believes in pure blood to the extreme. And through the centuries they have been the representative family of dark and brutal wizards. Blacks frequently maintained marriage to close and blood relatives because of the belief that in doing so their bloodline would be preserved. But in fact that behavior has affected many of their descendants, as most of the Black children are mentally unstable or difficult to control their magic.Violeta: This is a family of witches believed to have the blood and powers of the Seers. For generations, they all gave birth to the most powerful Seers. No one knows if Violeta retains its pure blood or not. But because their powers have never been lost, the wizarding world believes that they are selective in marrying to maintain their posterity.Endou: One of the families that believes in blood purity. The Endou often give birth to children with a very strong sixth sense and often can talk to the dead. Endou is also the family most trusted and respected by the Dark Lord because of his ability to communicate with spirits. Endou maintains its bloodline by betrothed its children to pure-blood families – a long-standing tradition among purebloods.

Families that are no longer pure blood:

Ovid: A pure-blood family who soon no longer lives in England. Currently, they live mainly in Germany. Ovid is a family that respects knowledge more than anything. Children born into this family are all famous scholars and bring a lot of voluminous research. Fulgur Ovid – the current heir to the Ovid house is a half-blood.Yamino: One of the most loyal families to the Dark Lord's pureblood ideals. But in fact, this family has long since lost its pure bloodline. Many generations of the Yamino family were mixed. Aldophus believes in the Dark Lord's ideals in hopes of restoring his family's glory.Kaneshiro: One of the families believed to be a direct descendant of one of the Knights of the Round Table who followed and protected King Arthur in Merlin's era. The Kaneshiro family is traditionally Gryffindor, and contrary to pure-blood ideals, they accept being excluded from these families when they marry wizards who are half-blood and Muggle-born. Kaneshiro worships the so-called will of the heart and feelings more than other good elements.Akuma: Their bloodline has been tainted since Robusta Akuma married a Daemon, or in other words a Wixen who was cursed and turned evil with an evil spirit. Because of this, the Akuma instead of being a pure-blood family became a family of mixed races, making their descendants semi-witch, semi-demon.6. HolidaysYule/Christmas: In the wizarding world, pure-blood families hold parties and festivals to celebrate Yule, not Christmas. Yule, in the tradition of Wixen, is a 12-day festival. In other words, in Norse culture, Yule is also the night when people celebrate the winter solstice. That means Yule usually lasts from December 21 to January 1 of the following year. Meanwhile, Christmas in wizarding culture is imported from the Muggle world, and it only includes December 25 every year.Samhain/Halloween: Pure-blood families will celebrate Samhain instead of Halloween. This festival marks the end of a harvest season and the beginning of the transition to winter (the darkest and coldest time of the year).

During the Merlin era, Samhain was a huge festival. They split into two celebrations. The first festival to celebrate Samhain will begin on September 1, but the big day to celebrate Samhain is held on October 31 – which is also Halloween night today. Although organized differently, both holidays have the same purpose of increasing the connection with the departed spirits.

Usually on Samhain, witches will perform a ritual and meditate to connect with the spirits of their ancestors and receive blessings or directions from them. And Halloween is simply a night of dressing up to have fun.
