-Chapter thirty-One-
"So, it seems like we're emotionally attached to each other." Says (Y/N), sitting down on the floor next to Rico and Shinso who were both eating popsicles. They had talked with each other after (Y/N) had told Shinso to cool off. Shinso seemed much calmer now than he was earlier, but (Y/N) chalked it off as him just being concerned. She remembered the conversation they had while Rico was out of it, and blushed.
Rico coughed on his popsicle and looked up at her.
"Did you feel it?" She asks the now also blushing boy. He nods and wipes his mouth with a napkin. (Y/N) groans and flops down on the pillows behind her.
"What? What did you feel?" Shinso asks Rico, who shakes his head and points to (Y/N). "It's not mine to say." He states.
Shinso looks up at her and she turns away from him. "Is it about-" He starts but stops when (Y/N) shakes her head violently, telling him to stop where he is since Rico is still here.
"Thought you said no more lying?" He says smugly.
She blushes and a frustrated look falls upon her face, sighing.
"Rico, me and Shinso, we-"
Rico looks up and covers his mouth in shock.
"No way never would have guessed!" He laughs.
"Stop being sarcastic!" whines (Y/N). Shinso chuckles.
"You two have been flirting for so long I thought it would take less time honestly," Rico says smiling. But (Y/N) can feel his heart, the sharp sting that courses through him.
"Rico..." She says.
FLASHBACK
Shinso and (Y/N) stand with Rico standing in the corner, a blank look on his face.
"(Y/N), I have to tell you. I've been lashing out and it hurts you and others, I don't-"
Shinso struggles with his words, stumbling on this and that, trying to tell (Y/N) how he feels. Why he has been so possessive and angry, why he has been so distant.
"I like you (Y/N)!" He cries out, tired of trying to word it any differently.
"Really, you really like me? You know, I'm not-" The flustered girl starts, but Shinso cuts her off by pulling her into his embrace. "I don't care what you are." He whispers. "I love you."
Tears roll down her eyes as she cries out in relief. "I- I thought I would never, find anyone..." She sobs.
Shinso hugs her even tighter. "I'll never leave you. You'll never be in silence again," he says.
So that's what happened huh? Rico pulled his mind out of (Y/N)'s memories. He wasn't going to lie to himself. He had spent his entire life with this girl and had formed such an attachment. He should be happy for her, she finally found true love, or so she thought. She said she was so lonely before, but, he was right there, the whole time.
Tears threatened to fall like torrential rains down his face, and all the sadness of the fear that he would lose her was washing over him at once. He saw (Y/N) say something, but he couldn't hear her, not now. Not ever again.
He got up and excused himself, much to (Y/N)'s worries.
"Rico! Wait up!" She calls out before Shinso grabs ahold of her wrist, stopping her.
"Just let him be for a little while, he needs to sort it out in his head I'm sure." He says with a compassionate tone.
(Y/N)'s face falls and she looks out into the hall where Rico had left, and she hears the door open and close. He lips quiver as she feels his sadness.
"I can feel his sadness Shinso." She says weakly.
"It's ok, try to be happy, maybe then he can feel some joy through you?" He suggests.
"Maybe..." She says doubtfully.
Meanwhile, the students of UA are struggling as they are attacked by the league of villians in their training exercise. Deku and Uraraka, as well as Iida wonder why (Y/N) misses the one day where danger previals the school students, and suspious rise in the teachers as well.
