C15: This Green Flame Behind Me

Konichiwa, pinkste-*teleports away from angry mob of loyal pinksterz*

Pant! Pant! *recording dangerously while hiding in the vents*
So, I'm recording right now, 'cause I'm currently facing a horde, anyways. Sorry! A million times sorry for not updating so often! I know, things are a little hard now with the outbreak right outside of our houses. But I still stood determined! Determined to finish this as soon as possible. Other than that, it's hard managing four stories at the same time!

DJrayray: Ya should've finished your first book in the first place, idiot!

Me: I know! Sorry.

Then again, here ya go! Fresh out of the press!...

Omigosh, they found me! Gotta run, hope ya consider and enjoy! *runs away*

Almost forgot!

Arigato to pinkster @Frisk_wolf for your loyal support towards the TPC!

*Just to clarify,
'[...]' - means Frisk thinking while Papyrus translating

Oh, and almost forgot! Prepare this song; "A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton"

------------------------------------------------------

"Gaaah! Blast that Frisk!?" a certain green flame monster shrieked in annoyance, "How dare she steal my Sans!"

After witnessing the closeness between the two so-called friends, the thermal element couldn't help but be frustrated. "She was supposed to be my friend, and now he calls her with this stupid name, 'Honey'?! Dear Asgore, how could everyone be so, so... so mean!" she blurted, lost in words. It was really a miracle her tantrums couldn't reach the ears of her father, or is it because he could be busy in some... Paperwork? In any ways, she's irritated.

"I wish I could just... I could just, I could just take her down, but I can't!" bawled Fuku, collapsing on her soft red-covered bed.

"And why not?" a familiar voice asked, followed by eerie giggling that echoed through her bedroom, which made the girl jump in surprise. Fuku thought, however, that it was her conscience that has been catechizing her, so therefore, paid no heed to it.

"Frisk's my best friend's younger sister. Chara would never trust me ever again if something bad happens to her." she sighed, giving in to replying her 'conscience'.

"Nonsense!" the voice exclaimed, "My friend, you deserve better than to be stepped on by someone I have only met a few days back."

Ok, so clearly, this isn't her conscience. Rather the voice belonged to someone she knew better than anyone in school. But just to be sure, "Who are you?" the girl asked shakily, "Are you the one I think you are?" she added.

"Can't you guess?" the voice sighed, "Fine, yes. Such a smart kid you are to easily guess her own bestie in the whole wide world!"

"Ch-chara?" Fuku trembled, pushing herself backwards to the wall behind her, and finally making out the silhouette that lurked in the shadows in front of her. The figure flashed the girl its infamous maniacal smile, as blood-red fluid flowed from its glowing crimson eyes. The fluid, she guessed to be blood, went down the mysterious shadow's cheeks, and dripped to the floor below.

"Correct..." it whispered.

This is Chara. No, not the friendly sister of our heroine in this story. This... thing is her. The very demon that haunted Frisk's thoughts way back in the Underground.

'What happened to her?' you bothered asking?

The once determined soul of red, filled with the essence of hatred. A beast, you may call her. The pacifist may think this is over, but no. It has always been following her. She's always been there.

And why was she tailing her till this day? To witness her death?

'That will not be fun to watch.' she giggled. Her torture, oh sweet suffering, that's what it is! If that silly comedian could judge one's LOVE, oh how delightful! She could judge one's love, alright... One's love to its fate!

'Remind us what she hates!' you all sing-songed. The very reason she became the monster she is?

Existence.

"You're not real," the flame monster retorted, "like I said, you're only my conscience."

"Oh, but I am real! That's what consciences are for, is it not?" Chara snapped, "And I say, do what you wish! I'm sure the 'real' me would understand, and besides..." she added, moving near the frightened girl, "You'll gain two things back if you succeed."

"And what's that?" asked Fuku, finally curious.

"Sans, and... Me."

------------------------------------------------------

"FRISK!" someone yelled, its owner tugging a tall and confused skeleton behind her. Arriving in front of the beholder of the said name, she panted in exhaustion, tossing her short mahogany strands. Frisk, however, eyed the tall monster in confusion.

"Him?" Chara perked, immediately realizing the girl's wonder, "Well he'll be my personal translator."

'[Why Papyrus?]' Frisk asked, still not taking her eyes off him.

"Cause I don't trust that ketchup vacuum! Speaking of ketchup, I'll be asking you, what's with the ketchup odor last night, huh? I know something's off the moment I called that smiley trash bag and smelled that sweater of yours." Her sister rattled, looking suspiciously at her.

'[He-I, uh...]' she stammered, not knowing how to explain without alerting Chara. Before she could even word out a possible explanation, Alphys came in, stuttering heavily, "Ch-chara. Y-y-your broth-ther's ha-having a f-fight w-w-with U-undyne!"

"What?! Why?"

The yellow reptile eyed Frisk, alarming Chara that her sister was somehow, involved in this. She sighed in retort, mumbling, "Right in the middle of... Ugh. I'll be there, and Frisk? Don't butt in, in this, ok? It's dangerous." She warned, which earned her a nod of approval from the mute girl herself.

Must be about what happened yesterday, yikes. This reminded her of Sans helping her, which made her blush slightly.

She was once again, alone, watching her sister dash off with their lizard friend. Sans shouldn't have done that yesterday, she sighed, I deserved to be beaten up by the ones who should've lost their trust on me. She was still blaming herself in her thoughts, until she ran into someone hot, literally.

She looked up to see Fuku in front of her. She couldn't tell the expression the green flame was wearing, which was a hateful scowl, she just mouthed an apology, smiling, before starting to pass by. But just as she was about to, she was held by her 'friend' in the arm, making the girl silently yelp in pain of the hot surface.

"You think I was contented with that apology of yours?" the flame smirked, "Well guess what, miss zipper mouth! Apology not accepted."

The girl trembled fearfully by the sound of those words. Yes, she was surprised by her sister's best friend's sudden behavior, but the words that came out of her? Made her shiver. It stung so bad. It felt as if it came from her friends from back in the Underground after discovering the truth. She's right. Who would ever accept my apology?

"You think you could just still my Sansy Wansy away from me? I don't think so, sister!"

Wait, did she actually think... Dear Asgore! Shades of pink bloomed through her soft cheeks in embarrassment. But Fuku quickly noticed that, taking note of it, making her fume up even more.

"You think you're so smart? Think you're on top since you got in to the Music Club?! Well FYI, Friskers, I'm even better than you, Mettaton did not even hesitate to accept me in! Why don't you show me how you sing, Frisk? I'm sure everyone would love to hear that voice of yours, that you really must put on a show right here." She paused, pushing the poor girl slightly, "Right now."

'b-but...' she managed to mouth out silently, but Fuku interrupted her, "We're friends, aren't we? Prove me you still are..."

And with those words, her mind came jumbling about, not knowing what to do. She shakily sighed in fear, as she did not have any choice, tremblingly pulling out her purple microphone hidden inside her backpack.

*3, 2, 1, play A Thousand Miles *

Making my way downtown
Walking fast
Faces pass
And I'm home bound

As she did sing, a lot of the students stopped by, staring strangely at her, all curious for why she would sing her heart out in the middle of the hallway.

Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making a way
Through the crowd

Most of them took out their mobile phones, recording her, while some laugh at her 'craze'.

And I need you

She started to tremble.

And I miss you

Her heart beat faster in every beat. She tried to run away from the crowd, but they kept blocking her chances.

And now I wonder...

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you...
Tonight

------------------------------------------------------

It's always times like these
When I think of you
And I wonder
If you ever
Think of me

From a distance, just at the other side of the halls, was Sans, once walking quietly, then captivated by such alluring music. He smiled, recalling it to be the same voice that soothed his thoughts.

"Frisk." He murmured happily, then frowned in confusion, "Frisk?!"

This isn't right, he thought. Why could he hear Frisk's singing coming in near with every step he takes. The huge crowd afar made him even more worried, as he could hear the source beneath those piles of students.

'Cause everything's so wrong
And I don't belong
Living in your
Precious memory

He started running, desperately wanting to save his dear friend from humiliation.

'Cause I need you

And I miss you

And now I wonder...

He arrived, making a beeline to the center of the crowd, to find Frisk singing shakily, yet beautifully, her back faced towards him.

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
Tonight

"Frisk!" he called out, as she turned to face the worried skeleton with a tear-stained face.

'S-sans?' she trembled in his thoughts.

"Sansy! I didn't know you'd be here for the show. ~" cooed Fuku, who happens to push through the growing audience. He glared furiously at the green flame, while he reached out to grab the human's hand.

"Show?! Why are you doing this to her?" he growled, his eyes darkening hollowly, showing his selfishness for mercy.

"B-but, Sansy. She's taking you away! Can't you see? She's breaking us apart..."

"Us? There was never an 'us', Fuku! I'm not some toy you could play with, and I don't belong to you!" he barked loudly, silencing the crowd. He eyed the students dangerously, before commanding, "Stop recording! Delete them or you're all gonna have a bad time..."

And with those words, all those who tried to become trending, deleted their recordings all at the same time, for fear of having to suffer into the hands of what they know as a mysterious skeleton.

"And as for you..." he started, stomping towards the now shaking flame monster, but just as he was about to do anything, a small hand held his arm, making him glare back at whoever was the one who dared touch him in a situation like this. His expression softened to a surprised look to see Frsik as the one holding him back, her head sadly hanging low.

"Honey?" he asked, which shocked the other students to hear him call her that, and angered Fuku as well.

'Don't.' she pleaded, then he nodded at her before teleporting away to their empty classroom.

As soon as they sat down to their desks, she embraced the skeleton, which surprised him greatly while he blushed at the sudden action. He could feel her tears dripping to his jacket, but he didn't mind.

"Hey, Hon. It's okay, they ain't here. No one will ever do that to you ever again, not on my watch(Yandere?)." He reassured her, holding her dearly, his skeletal fingers tracing through her chocolate brown hair.

'No, Sans. You don't have to watch over. I d-don't deserve your help.' She staggered in her thoughts, shivering in reminiscence of what she did in the past timeline.

"Don't talk like that!" he scolded, placing both his hands on either side of her cheeks, making her look up to him, "You deserve better than just my help alone, Frisk. Remember that, okay?"

A smile slowly crept to her lips, as she wiped her tears away, 'You don't understand...'

"Then I'll try to!" he interrupted, surprising her, "No matter what, I'll try to understand you."

She sighed, looking down in defeat, "I hope you could."

A bony hand slowly slipped unto her small one, squeezing it in reassurance. She looked back to see the skeleton grin even more.

"And yes, I could." He smirked, "Ya know I'm tear-rible in making promises, but don't get tear-ified! I'll try my best to be tear-rific."

She couldn't help but giggle on his attempt to cheer her up with a pun, which caused him to smile wider.

'Okay now, you got me. But don't get too cocky, 'cause you'll lose too much tear-ms.' She chuckled lightly, as he only laughed halfheartedly.

Classes were about to start, yet she couldn't help but frown once more upon remembering what she had done.

Slowly, she felt her sins crawling on her back...
