C16: Once A Friend... Always A Friend

A/n: Just informing, I decided to turn my FateTale AU into a trilogic series(three-part book series). Yes, so for those who didn't know, once again I published the said book, and changed its title;

Part I: When Light Comes Darkness (The Encounter)

Part II: As Light Grows Dim (The Lumiere Core Games)

Part III: When The Light Is Gone (The Reset)

Another thing is that since 29th of June is coming (another year for this annoyingly, eh, annoying author), expect a very special chapter hidden in one of my books.

It's supposed to be a part of this book, but I decided to turn it to a secret chapter, one can only find if you're truly loyal.

You see, I love making riddles and mystery galore, so it's up to you to try find thy missing chapter.

Also, sorry for not updating, there's been stuff happening in life, soo... ☺

Now, onwards to the story, pinksters!💕

"The frick she just did to our sister!?" Growled the red-headed girl, slamming her hands on their table making it shake, as her friends held on to their trays.

"Calm down, Chara. Look, you're making us lose our lunch from all your tantrums." Scolded Asriel, holding his sister to sit back down.

"So what did happen?" Asked Sans, recalling to hear about a fight going on earlier, only to shrug it off.

"Well, I kinda got into a fight with Undyne after what you said to me earlier." The goat-boy shrugged, seeming to be embarassed.

"The thing about Frisk? Ya shouldn't really worry much about it, not like I wasn't worried at all." He casually said, rolling his white glowing pinpricks.

Really though. He really wanted, longed to obliterate the fish out of existence so badly. He hated it so much, how she's been doing with other people lately, especially towards what she has done to Frisk. Though, it was the said human who ceased all his murderous thoughts towards the sushi, so didn't bother to think of anything else at all.

Not really.

Speaking of Frisk, he looked beside him to see the brunette silently ate as she looked down. Even until now, she didn't seem to get over what happened earlier.

"I'm only trying to defend my sister, that's all." Azzy sighed, before glaring at his sister beside him, "Everything was going smoothly, Undyne was going to apologize, until Chara arrived with Alphys, stopping the fight in calm matter.

She asked me what the hell is going on, so I explained how Undyne tried to hurt our sister.

And just as I thought she'd talk things out with the fish, she yelled bloody hell towards her, before promptly punching her back to create, yet another fight!" He breathed heavily after rapidly explaining.

"She was being too cocky." The girl scoffed, "Besides, that wasn't enough!"

"Yeah, and through that act, you got us a ticket to detention! Way to go, happy-punch." He argued.

"Well if it weren't for your stupid 'overprotective-brother' mode, we wouldn't get involved in a fight in the first place!"

"Guys!" Sans suddenly spoke up, his turn to slam his own phalanges on the table. The two sat in silence, surprised by his sudden outburst as he sighed, giving a quick glance at the human beside him.

"It's all in the past now. Just let it go. Frisk would be unhappier to see her two siblings fighting over... over something she caused." He bluntly stated.

Wait. I think that came out wrong.

"Frisk would be unhappier to see her two siblings fighting over... over something she caused."

I-I... caused?

She gulped in great guilt, feeling uncomfortable on her seat, before letting out a deep sigh. She stood up, facing the skeleton beside her with a forced out sweet smile.

'I'm going to the restroom. See ya guys later.' She whispered in his thoughts, walking away, leaving the three in a daze.

She caused? Yes, she did. She tried so hard to avoid any mistake she encounters in her way, but nay. And here she is, yet, another ruckus between Undyne and her friends.

She sighed heavily, pinching the bridge of her nose, deep in thought of all the things she had done, still strolling through the halls of Snowdin.

But just as she was about to reach the ladies' restroom in an attempt to splash her face with cool water, a hand suddenly grabbed her, swiftly leading her towards a nearby room, the owner locking it up behind him.

Whoever he is, he was wearing a black cloak, along with the other people in this room. Wait, other people?

She gazed around in panic, her soul beating in a fast pace, as the group surrounded her. Is this some kind of a cult? She hated those stuff.

"Just look at yourself!" A highly familiar voice chuckled in amusement, as one of the cloaked figures stepped forward to examine her up and down.

"You think you're so smart, are ya? Well let's see how smart you could get when I say I dare you." The mysterious figure grimly pointed, kneeling to reach the trembling human's height. She was afraid, completely drained out from all the dares and orders she had been receiving.

She quickly kneeled, begging for whoever they are to let her go, but alas! She could not speak.

The person only chuckled, pulling down the hood of her cloak to reveal...

'Undyne.' She thought, shaking immensely.

"You think you could just beat me by telling big sis and bro about the whole shit?! Not cool." Undyne stood up, a blue aura illuminating from her blue hands, summoning a glowing blue spear.

"Now I challenge you." She paused, turning to look at me, removing her cloak to reveal her shining silver armor.

"To a spear fight!" She yelled, lights immediately lit up, enhancing her sight to finally make out where she was held.

The school's sparring room.

Undyne threw the brunette another spear, the girl barely catching it in her arms. She gave her a toothy smirk, "I may have been offended by what you have done, but as captain of the Royal Guards, I fight with honor and glory. I fight fairly, and despise inequality." She paused, glaring at Frisk, "What you have done is quite... unfair, don't you think?"

Before the human could even reply, however, the fish lady already started charging fiercely at her, along with her battle cry. Luckily for Frisk, she knew how to survive and defeat Undyne without hurting her or herself, so she tried her best to dodge every single attack.

She managed to do so, until Undyne caught her off guard while pretending to land a punch on Frisk making her yelp in surprise as Undyne's spear grazed through her sleeve and skin.

Blood seeped through her grazed arm, but she still stood, giving out a determined look, before attempting to block another attack from Undyne using her spear.

"You're good. But unfortunately, not fast." She said, aiming to throw her spear towards the girl. She didn't think of killing the girl on purpose, so she made sure it lands on her sweater's sleeve. At least, that's what she thought.

Eyeing the tip of the spear that whizzed towards her, Frisk concentrated, and with fiery determination, caught it, spun, then threw it back towards Undyne. The blue fish lady carefully eyed the spear, avoided it with a smug look on her face, and turned to look at the human, only to find face to face with a spear tip. Startled, her red crimson eyes widened in shock at the sight in front of her. Frisk was pointing her spear at eye level of the lady in front of her, her grip on the spear tight, making sure she held it in place.

D-did this lil punk just beat me? She thought, dumbfounded.

Her expression suddenly turned cocky, promptly kicking up the spear, making Frisk let it go as it soared up, with Undyne catching it with a high jump. This time, the situation was reversed, with the human now facing the spear in fear.

She closed her eyes tightly shut, preparing for the worst, but surprisingly. It never came.

"For a human like you, you're pretty good." Undyne complimented, lifting her spear, resting it on her shoulder.

"For the first time in fricking how long has it been, I've never had so much fun. This... this is awesome!" She erupted, laughing giddily at the thought of how entertaining it was for her.

She patted the short human's shoulder, much to Frisk's confusion, as she flashed her one of her most well-known toothy grin.

"I respect your determination and skill, pal. No one has ever managed to get this far in a spear fight with me, except for ya, punk. Let's put aside all our differences and start anew. What do ya say? Allies?"

Of course, Frisk eagerly nodded in agreement for two reasons; she wanted to be friends again with her old best friend, even if she doesn't remember her. And two, she doesn't want to get through all that ever again.

"Everyone, cheers to our alliance with this human, Frisk! Because of your great skill in spear fighting, I pronounce her as an ally to the Royal Gua--?!"

"F-frisk!" A shrill stuttering voice called out, its owner rapidly burst in, making a beeline towards Frisk.

"A-are you h-h-hurt? D-did she do s-s-something to you?" Alphys asked in concern, stammering uncontrollably, while glancing at Undyne in a scolding manner.

The brunette nodded in reassurance, making the yellow reptile to calm her nerves.

"S-sorry, I came too late d-didn't I?"

"Uh, hey Al? Do you know this punk?" Undyne asked in confusion, scratching the back of her neck in embarrassment.

"Sh-she's... she's a f-friend of m-mine."

"Sh-she is?! Then why didn't you say so? I wouldn't have hurt her in the first place!" She exclaimed, seeming to not be able to look at Frisk.

The human held the tall Royal Guard's hand, as if saying that everything's ok. Undyne looked down and gave her a smile.

“Well then, it’s settled!” she boomed, making the others jump on their feet, “Frisk, since you’re a friend of Alphy, I not only consider you an ally, but also a friend!”

As if on cue, however, right as she announced the given ‘title’, someone busted in from the door, revealing a totally familiar tall skeleton, who hurriedly ran towards Frisk in concern, with Mettaton and the Dreemurr siblings in tow.

“Frick that, sushi! You can’t beat us, now that Papy’s here!” yelled Chara in triumph.

The hell is happening here?! Thought Undyne, gaping at the newcomers.

“HUMAN! ARE YOU ALRIGHT? DID ANYTHING HURT? IF THERE IS, THEN I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, SHALL HEAL YOU WITH MY GREEN MAGIC!” Papyrus bursted in worry.

‘Don’t worry, Papy. I’m okay.’ Reassured Frisk, shooting him a gentle smile.

“I’M GLAD TO, UM… ‘HEAR’ THAT?”

“Wait, wait! Hold on a fricking sec. Papyrus, you know her too?!” exclaimed Undyne in disbelief.

“WELL, OF COURSE! HUMAN FRISK IS MY FRIEND!”

“And don’t forget! ~ She’s also a member of our club. ~” cooed Mettaton, giving Frisk a playful wink.

“WHAT THE HELL HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO!?” screamed the fish lady in anger, embarrassment and frustration for the current situation they’re in.

“She’s also our sister, the daughter of King Asgore and Queen Toriel.” Asriel pointed out, trying not to laugh at his act of adding another reason for Undyne to repent for herself.

“NYAAHHH!!!” she shrieked, placing her hands on both side of her head in irritation. She sighed, kneeling down in defeat.

“Y-you’re a friend to all my friends. If I have known sooner, I would have treated you like one.”

Which she was right. Frisk recalled back then how Undyne could be very friendly towards other people. Well… too friendly. The fish’s voice caused the human to jolt back her attention towards her.

“Frisk, punk… I’m really, really, really sorry for all the things that I have done to you. I didn’t mean to, but my hatred towards humans got the best of me. I know, it’s impossible for you to forgi--” she was cut off by the brunette suddenly hugging her ‘friend’.

“[Everything’s okay. It’s all in the past now, and besides, who doesn’t want to be friends with the strongest Royal Guard of Dreemurr Academy?]” Frisk stated, gently nudging Undyne’s tough elbow. The tall fish couldn’t help but laugh wholeheartedly, “Don’t try and flatter me, punk! I could still beat you to a pulp in spear fights!”

She is… doing well, he could see that.

Earlier, a few minutes passed since Frisk went to go to the restroom, he couldn’t help but worry.

“What’s taking her so long?” these words that came out of Asriel’s furry lips only heightened his worry more.

“I’ll go find her.” Suggested Sans, standing up from their spot to look for Frisk.

“Oh no, you don’t!” shouted Chara, her eyebrows furrowing, “Last time, you got Frisk in trouble. The last thing I want is for her to fall into one again! I can’t risk my own sister’s safety by being under your care. Not again.”

“Then the three of us must go if ya guys don’t trust me at all.” He advised, feeling a bit hurt by the fact that the siblings of his crush doesn’t trust him anymore. He couldn’t fight back, however. He knew that by doing so, it would only add fuel to the fire, and may waste their time. To his luck, they agreed, standing up and heading towards the exit of the cafeteria.

But after several minutes of searching, they still couldn’t find the brown-haired human.

“Where could she be? I thought she’ll be in the bathroom.” Chara sighed, running her fingers through her mahogany locks in frustration.

“Don’t worry. We will find her.” Reassured the skeleton, his pinpricking catching a suspecting glimpse at the sparring room beside the ladies’ restroom.

He pressed his skull on the door, only for him to hear unusual sounds of magic.

A fight is on?

He decided to just shrug it off. That was, until he heard whisperings in his mind.

Frisk. She’s close.

‘Undyne. I don’t want to hurt you!’ she pleaded. Anger boiled through his whole skeletal foundation discovering Undyne is with her. Then it hit him. The sounds, the whisperings… The sparring area. Frisk is in here… with Undyne in a fight!

His soul beat faster than before as chills ran down his spine, fearing for the human’s life. He alerted the siblings about his findings. Chara was about to kick the door open, but Sans stopped her, nodding his head no.

“Don’t. The whole Royal Guard is in there, and Undyne won’t stop at anything.” He shrugged.

“But… but Frisk--”

“Let’s find Alphys and Papyrus to handle this. They could do better than us. We’ll only make things worse.”

The Dreemurr siblings couldn’t help but agree, for based on what they knew, Undyne couldn’t say no to Alphys; her girlfriend, and most definitely not to Papyrus; her best friend, and ‘that-guy-who-you-can’t-say-no-to-because-of-being-too-good-for-the-world’.

“N-no need to f-find me.” a voice from behind stammered, making them turn to gaze at Alphys, “W-why are you l-looking f-for me?”

“Long story short, Frisk is in there, with Undyne.” Informed Asriel, pointing towards the door.

“Oh d-dear!” exclaimed the yellow reptile, “I h-have to get i-in there t-t-to stop them b-before i-it’s too late.”

“Do that.” urged Sans, “It’ll give us time to find Papyrus.” She nodded, turning towards the door, as the three headed to find the skeleton’s brother.

Soon enough, they arrived at the Music Club Chamber. There, they see two figures practicing to strum the guitar.

“G CHORD? OVER C?”

“That’s it, Papy dear! You’re getting a hang of it~”

“Ahem.” Went Sans, catching their attention. As much as he wants to tear the robot limb by limb, he didn’t have time for that. Right now, Frisk needs them, so he sighed.

“Paps, sorry to bother ya, but I think Frisk is in trouble with Undyne.”

“UNDYNE? THEN I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, MUST GO HENCEFORTH TO HELP OUR HUMAN COMPANION!” he boomed, running out to the sparring room with Mettaton hot in his feet.

“Come on, Sans!” the human girl called out, seeming to be already at the door.

“Go on without me. I’ll catch up!”

“Suit yourself!” and soon, she’s out. Sans frantically ran across the room to find a medical kit. After minutes of searching, bingo, he found it under the drum set, grabbing a hold of it. It’s a wonder why they placed it there.

He ran outside, heading towards the sparring area. He was panting tiredly, silently cursing at the fact that he had low stamina. He arrived at the said room, trying to catch his breath.

He didn’t move forward to get inside, however, he just stayed right at the broken doorway. I wonder who broke the door open? He chuckled, watching as his friends gather around Frisk, who seemed to suffer from Undyne’s noogie, in worry. Wait, is this real or did he just witnessed the bully, Undyne, giving Frisk, her current victim, a noogie? What happened?

Judging by the fact that everyone looked relieve and happy, laughing together in harmony beside the brunette, it seemed they’ve worked out well.

His permanent smile grew wider, proud of his friend’s nature of being friendly caused her to accomplish being friends with the aggressive sushi. That’s just one of the things he liked about her.

His cheekbones lit to a blue glow at what he thought, but quickly tried to shake it off by rubbing them underneath his bony palms. Frisk turned to face him, her expression turned happier than earlier, causing his blush to darken even more.

She giddily ran towards him, slightly pushing away from her newfound friends. It was like the whole scene underwent to a slow-mo, her shoulder-length chocolate brown hair swaying left and right as she skipped. He had never seen Frisk this joyous before, and now he did, he couldn’t help but admire the radiance her happiness she gave out, boosting her beauty even more.

She wrapped her arms around him to a hug, much to his surprise. After recovering from the daze and the sudden blue blush that appeared on either side of his cheeks, he hugged back, accepting it.

“Honey? What got ya all frisky today, eh?” he chuckled, flashing her a wink.

‘Undyne’s my friend now, Sans! So don’t try and hurt her.’

“I won’t.” he sighed, tracing his bony fingers through her soft short hair, “How are ya feelin?”

‘Just a bit tired.’ She admitted. He noticed her arms loosening from the embrace.

‘And… d-dizzy…” she trailed off, both arms to her side and seemed to slide off from his hold.

“Honey?” no response.

“Frisk?” he called out, pulling away to see her unconscious. She must’ve fainted, her body falling down if no one is there to support her. But luckily, he was there, setting her down to his lap as they sat on the hard floor. Unfortunately, their friends came to the scene, and he was prepared to receive all blames on him, but instead…

“What happened?” asked Chara in worry.

“She fainted.” He concluded, trying to look for the source. His pinpricks caught the sight of her ripped sleeve to see blood staining it. She was bleeding heavily, her graze now turned to a gash.

Good thing he brought medical supplies.
