C3: Pity, Pain, and Curiosity

She knew she have nothing to do with it. She knew everything would change now that she lived with her... No. Through her mistakes. She was even smart enough to know, she mustn’t trust the girl she's stuck with. The girl she feared the most was now the one she calls her sister. Yet why was she acting rather dumb now? Why realize now that this isn't right, even though she knew that in the first place. She sighed, walking through the halls of her new school, placing her fingertips to feel the cold and smooth wall. It's too late. She's here now, so face it.

"Why don't we introduce you to my friend?" offered Chara, gesturing towards a figure, which she figured as a female, though her figure was draped by green flames which was covered by her uniform, that made her gave the thought of her in the feminine side.

"Hi. You must be Frisk. I'm Fuku, by the way. Fukufire Grillby." the flame greeted warmly. Heh, if only Frisk could tell this pun to Sans. Speaking of which, where is he? She hasn’t seen the short skeleton all morning. Maybe he's gone somewhere with Papyrus. Papyrus. She made a mental note of meeting the tall brother of her best friend. Just wanting to make sure, he's alive. But it won't matter, even if she knows that he's alive. He won't remember her anyways, and that thought saddened her. Snapping back to reality, she smiled at Fuku sweetly, letting her know she felt very welcomed because of her greeting. Fukufire Grillby? Is she related to Grillby somehow? The Grillby from that famous diner in Snowdin, Grillby's?

"So, Frisk. What do you think of our school? Does it achieve any of your liking?" asked Fuku, moving near her. Why is this girl so nosy? Why does she even care if she likes the school or not?

"Sorry, Fuku, but she can't answer you..." said Chara, glancing back at Frisk, before silently whispering to Fuku, in intent of not letting the poor silent girl hear, "She's mute."

Ha, she heard that. She could hear the words clearly, straight in her ears. Are they pitying her now? Chara was the cause of this, and now she's acting like she felt so sorry for her? She felt the urge of glaring at the girl, but her 'too kind' nature stopped her from doing so. How come she could hear the words clearly? It sounded very clear to her, like they didn't even whispered the words at all. Does this have to do with her being mute? 'Cause if it is, then being in this situation isn't actually that bad after all.

"Hey, Frisk. Why don't we go meet mom and dad? They'd be very happy to see you for the first time. Awake, that is." said Chara, tugging Frisk away from Fuku, and to the staff room before waving a goodbye to their fiery friend.

Toriel and Asgore? Back together? Now this is what she got to see. Her heart lifted as the label of the staff room appeared in their view. It was the same feeling she felt after arriving in this school. The feeling of yearning to be recognized by the ones closest to her heart. Excitement filled her as they stepped inside the area. Her golden gaze fell upon the first person she sees.
There she is. That recognizable purple gown caught her eyes, its wearer sipping aromatic coffee, while she red quietly on her brown wooden desk. She must've sensed the two enter, for she held her fur-covered face up to see them up close. Her dark red eyes widened at the sight of her two daughters, adjusting the lens of her pair of glasses. She stood to greet them, and embraced Frisk lovingly.

"I'm very glad you've arrived safely. Welcome, Frisk." smiled Toriel, still holding the girl in her arms, "I'm guessing you might have a clue on who I am, after this hug?"

Frisk gazed at Toriel, hope filling her golden eyes. What if she remembers? What if she has that chance to know who she is? Why else would they know that her name is Frisk if it weren't because of her? But then again, she knew that's an impossible situation. Maybe she's expecting me to say she's her new mom. And her next words proved her right.

"I'm Toriel, your new mother. I really hope you'd accept us as your new family." said Toriel, releasing her from the embrace.

Frisk just smiled. Of course she'd accept them, after all, they were her friends. But she's still a bit unsure of adjusting to a family where your greatest enemy is also your new sister. She ain't ready to accept her yet.

"In a time like this, we should be celebrating." exclaimed Toriel, beaming with glee, "Unfortunately you have school, so I guess after dismissal, we should go out. What do you say?"

She can't say anything, but just gave her mom a thumbs-up. At that point, Toriel became curious about her silence. And that look in her eyes showed it pretty well. Oh no. Not again. Just having the people around her look at Frisk in pity, swells her very soul. She didn't want to look weak in front of others. She wanted to show Chara that she isn't helpless, and at the same time, hopeless. No way would she face her in a distressed situation.

But unfortunately, hope wasn't on her side this time, for Chara explained how Frisk is a vulnerable mute. She knows how to talk, for everyone's information, she just can't let the words out, thanks to Chara. Thinking about Chara being the cause of her irritating silence fills her with... With... Hate? No! She mustn’t be angry, she shouldn't be. She chose to be a pacifist, yet anger had actually swelled up in her. And that very abstract thing was the reason why Chara became a genocidal person. She breathed heavily to calm herself. She should not be won over by hate, she thought. If she wants everything to work in perfect harmony, then she must remain patient and accept her fate.

"You should be in your classes by now." Toriel suddenly said, as she ushered them both to the door, "I don't want you to be in detention, first thing at school. So let's continue any conversations later, ok?" Frisk nodded in agreement, as she shut the door behind her, leaving her and Chara in the hallway.

"Well, we better move. Our teach' ain't someone you can be late in." warned Chara, as they both started walking towards their classroom. Upon arrival, Frisk was surprised to see more familiar faces appearing before her. She smiled at them in greeting, even if they all gave her curious and weird stares. But inside that beating soul of hers, she felt aching pain whenever she gazed at each monster, one by one. Those very faces made her remember of all the good times they made together back down to the Underground. This situation of her being the only one who remembers, and them being the ones who forget, is one challenge she didn't prepare to meet.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Like the rest of the class, he stared curiously at Chara, and the girl he just met last night, as they stepped inside the room. Usually they'd look at Chara with awe and admirability, but now their eyes showed questions after seeing her with another girl whose features mirrored that of what Chara have. Although their wonderment regarded on who she is, his interest is on knowing what reason she cried last night upon seeing him.

Could they possibly know each other before?

"Hey." Chara waved her pale hands at the staring skeleton, "I was just saying, Frisk has same classes with you, so..."

He gulped at the sound of this. He knows exactly what this means. He's got a lot of work to do...

"I know, I know. I'll be stuck with her the rest of the day." grumbled Sans, eyeing Frisk in wary.

"I guess you're truly responsible and smart enough to remember that." teased Chara, seating Frisk right next to him before heading to her seat, "Don't you dare make fun of her." she said in warning.

Throughout the whole class session, the students listened attentively to the teacher. All except for him. His eye sockets showed his focus on something else. Frisk has been staring at the window all day. Wait til' she'd get caught, he smirked, still glancing at the brunette. Unfortunately, his thoughts backfired at him, and instead he was the one called by the teacher. Flip.

"Sans, I would very much appreciate it if you'd answer my question?" the teacher asked, the whole class is now looking at him, including Frisk who was alerted by the call of his name, "What do you call the force that pulls up an object in order to restrict gravity from pulling it down?"

He sighed. Why are all questions on science so easy to answer? The answer is clearly a pulley? Though nobody knows, but he's got the blood of a scientist in his veins. His father was... Never mind. Just thinking about having connections with the study of science, makes him negative all the time. So instead of answering the right answer, he just grinned and made his way through a pun.

"Why that's easy! An eskeleton!" he joked, chuckling at his own pun like he hadn't have a care in what he has gotten himself into. His classmates just gave him irritated faces and Chara face palmed herself. No one ever liked his horrible puns. His punny nature is what clearly made his soul calm and cool. He drowns his sorrows to all his jokes, and he didn't care, whether they'd like it or not. But he didn't expect to see someone actually gave a silent giggle on his current pun. He looked to see Frisk trying to cover her mouth from laughing... Silently. She laughed like it was one of the funniest thing she ever heard. He, on the other hand, just stood there. He didn't know if he should be happy that he has finally succeeded in making someone understand his pun, or sad of knowing he'll be sent to detention for this.

"Sadly, that is not the answer, Sans. I'm afraid you'll have to go to detention." the teacher sternly said, crossing her arms.

Sigh. Now he's finally know what to feel this time.
