12. No Rest for the Wicked
He's going to kill me.
If I had liked Eobard before, which I didn't, I sure as hell didn't now. No way was I going to let him kill Barry; that job was for Jay. Jay told me to make sure he stays alive until then, and I wasn't going to fail because of some guy that has had beef with Barry for God knows how long.
I push myself up off the wall, hearing voices from around the corner. It takes me a moment to really focus and realize that it's Cisco and Caitlin both; talking about what seemed to be Hartley. They said something about Barry as well, but at this point, I didn't care. Just before they meet me in the hall, I run the other way.
When I stopped, I thought about what Barry said. In the wall. What in the hell did that mean? How does he expect me to know where that was—
Wait a second. I remember Barry showing me something before in the wall; something to do with Eobard. He had told me that that was where he had hid away all of last year...well, I guess this year now. That must be what he's talking about.
I don't waste any more time as I run the other way now, making sure it was clear of Cisco and Caitlin before doing so. When I finally reached the place in the hall that I was sure contained the hidden lair, I stopped. I tried listening; I even pressed my ear up against the wall, but there was nothing. I knew this was the spot...why couldn't I hear anything?
My heart races in my chest as I think of what to do; was it worth going inside and risking my life and Barry's? Was it worth exposing my cover? I knew that I needed to keep Barry alive, and that's the only thing that motivated me towards the decision I made.
I take a step back before dashing forwards, phasing through the wall just like how Jay had taught me back on my Earth. As soon as I make it inside, it takes me a moment to readjust and figure out what was going on. Standing before me was a man that looked like Harrison Wells, and lying there on the floor handcuffed to a wheelchair was Barry, now wearing normal clothes.
Before I have time to act, Eobard is running towards me and grabbing my neck, pinning me against the wall. It takes me off guard for sure, but I wasn't phased by the action. I've been put into this position many times in my life; and most of the people that had done it to me aren't alive now to tell the story.
Eobard's eyes are wide, not with fear, but with confusion and panic. His nostrils flare, his hands cold, but I kept a straight face. Barry tells him to let me go, but of course he doesn't listen. I was barely listening either; I was too focused on not breaking my stare with him.
"And who in the hell are you?" he booms, fire in his eyes. I grin at his anger, finding satisfaction in it. I could tell that my smile only made him grow more agitated, but that only caused me to laugh.
He tightens his grip as I hold up my hands, hardly able to contain myself. "I'm sorry, you just look really funny when you're angry."
A low growl escapes his throat as he lifts his arm, it starting to buzz softly. I knew then what he had planned for me, but only he didn't know what I had planned for him. I make a tsk sound with my tongue before I raise my hand, using my powers against his. He doesn't say a word as his body goes flying into the opposite wall, his feet just barely off the ground...I didn't want him trying to run away.
I hold him there, my arm extended as he stares down at himself, utterly confused as to what was going on. I slowly walk forwards until I'm standing at Barry's side, seeing a smirk forming on his face out of the corner of my eye. After a few seconds of this, Eobard starts to laugh as well, but only his sounded more sinister than mine.
"Interesting," he breathes, staring at me with wide eyes. "What else do you have up your sleeve, Allen? Any more girls you have to protect you?"
I raise an eyebrow. "Was that supposed to be offensive?"
Barry ignores my comment. "So here's what's going to happen, Thawn. You're going to give me my speed equation and I'll be on my way. Same with her. Oh, and I wouldn't try and insult her if I were you. She's even scarier than your little pet."
Eobard's smile was wiped clean off of his face, but I didn't know what they were talking about. "Go to Hell, Allen."
"Do we have a deal?" Barry says louder this time. I hold my place as I narrow my eyes, Eobard noticing it.
He nods his head. "Whatever you say, Allen. But if that time wraith finds me, then you're all dead."
I look down at Barry. "Time wraith?"
"It's that thing you saw on the way here," Barry starts, sighing. "When you knocked me out of the way from it."
"So I take it as that thing is here to...?" I ask, not really wanting to know the answer to my own question.
"It's here to kill him," Eobard snaps, shaking his head. "And if that thing finds me too, I'll be dead."
I growl lowly. "Well maybe we should get that speed equation sooner than planned so we can get out of here."
"It'll just follow us when we go back," Barry tells me. "That thing is our main focus right now."
Eobard's eyes snap back at me. "Well my main focus right now would be to get down from here!"
I roll my eyes. "Try anything, and I'll stick you to the celling."
My hand drops back down to my side as he falls back to the ground, myself hoping that he would fall flat on his face, but that wasn't the case. He lands on his feet before screaming comes across my ears, causing my eyes to flick over to the other wall. It was like there was a screen there, but instead of it playing something that would be on TV, it was of Cisco, Caitlin, and Hartley. They were down in the basement, locked in a cell, and trying to break through the glass was the time wraith.
Barry looks up at me. "You need to get out of here."
"I couldn't agree more," Eobard mumbles under his breath before walking over to Barry, pulling out a key and unlocking his handcuff.
A part of me wanted to go back to the shadows, but what I really wanted was to stay here where all of the action was. I wanted to help stop this time wraith. "If you need me, you know how to get me."
Barry nods as he stands, tapping the buzzer in the bottom of his shoe while doing so. I hear the siren in my ear as I grin, him doing the same. "Good luck."
"Gross," Eobard groans as he glances between the two of us, but I just glare at him one last time before dashing away out of the room, down the hall, and out of S.T.A.R. Labs. After I get a good distance away, I stop and look back, only one thought running across my mind.
Don't do something stupid, Barry.

It wasn't hard at all to find out where Dust Storm was. All it took was some torturing of some girl I knew about at S.T.A.R. Labs to use her computer and science stuff to pinpoint a location for me. Turns out Dust Storm wasn't as far away as I had thought.
I pull the black cap on top of my head down a little farther, my eyes scanning the area as best as I could. I was a little nervous for some reason, but I assumed that it was because I was tracking down a big villain in this city. Sure, Zoom was the biggest, but that was a different story. I hoped that her knowing who I was important to would give me leverage and a reason to keep me alive.
My heart was racing, that's for sure. The smell of salt in the air clouds my nostrils, along with the scent of fish and sea life. The lady at S.T.A.R. Labs had told me that she was here at the boating dock, but I couldn't figure out why she would be. Something about it gave me the creeps.
A board under my foot creaks as I stop, closing my eyes for brief moment out of frustration. I couldn't figure out why I was trying to be so quiet, but everything else around me was, so I felt the need to be too. However, as soon as I opened my eyes again to continue walking, I was met with a dark figure in front of me, arms crossed.
"Ah!" I start to scream, but then a hand was covering my mouth. I bite my tongue before I realize that it was her figure in the night; I knew it was.
She slowly takes her hand away from me, raising an eyebrow as the boats on the docks clang as they hit the side of the dock. "Sloppy thief, smart tracker. I'll give you props for that one kid. But why are you here? If you're here for the diamonds back, you're out of luck."
I take a moment to figure out what to say. Something about seeing her here made me speechless. It was like how I had been back when I was little, when my mom had taken me to Starling City and I had met the Black Canary after she stopped a guy from stealing my mother's purse.
"N-No, I'm not here for the diamonds. I wanted to talk to you about..." I fade off, not sure if I should even ask.
She raises an eyebrow, crossing her arms again. "Spit it out."
"I want you to teach me," I say fast, barely able to make it out.
She starts to laugh, but she quickly stops herself. "Excuse me? You want me to teach you when you have the biggest, baddest villain in all of Central City that can teach you all of what I could and more?"
I talk fast yet again. "He's already taught me everything he possibly can. You have something he doesn't, but I can't figure out what that something is. Plus, he won't teach me how to fend for myself. He focuses on teamwork, and I want to work alone. I want to be able to do it myself."
She does laugh this time, but as she does so, she walks around me. "You're crazy, kid. If I were to do that, Zoom would have me killed and my body stuffed to keep by his fireplace. I'm sorry, but no."
I chase after her, desperate. "I promise that won't happen! I need you to show me more. Please..."
She stops and turns around then, no longer laughing. "Listen, I think you have potential, I really do. With your status now being right under Zoom himself, you'll be going places. You've basically been given the winning hand of cards. But I can't help you, I'm sorry. There's nothing I can show you, and if there was, I'd be dead before I could teach you. If I'm lucky, I won't be dead before morning comes for you just being here now. He doesn't even know you're here, does he?"
I shake my head as she scoffs, but in a light way. "Exactly. You need to go back home, kid."
She turns to walk away then, but I wasn't done yet. "I don't have a home."
I look up at her as she looks over her shoulder. I had a feeling that she would agree to helping me then, but I was wrong. "I can't help you."
After she says that, she disappears into the darkness.

high-key really liked this chapter. I loved that Eobard and Raven scene the most honestly; I love badass female moments.
