14. Crossfire

"This is the speed equation that you need," Eobard says to Barry while handing him what appeared to be a flash drive. I narrow my eyes as I cross my arms, watching the hand off before asking the one question Barry had to have been thinking as well.

"How do we know that it'll work?" I say, raising an eyebrow.

Barry adds to it. "How do we know this is even it?"

"What, you don't trust me?" Eobard says, earning glares from both Barry and I both. Eobard gives the both of us a pathetic look. "It's the real deal, okay? Now time for you two to go back to your time."

My eyes widen. "Wait, weren't you the one that said he couldn't leave until we figured out how to stop this thing?"

"That's the beauty of time travel, Raven," Eobard says with a smile, making me growl lowly in my throat. "While it only happens to you in the blink of an eye, we'll still be here working towards a solution. So stop worrying about your precious Barry Allen."

"Precious?" I raise an eyebrow, not sure what he was hinting towards. I shrug it off however as he walks around Barry and I both, nodding for us both to come on. I guess it was finally time to go back.

By the time we stepped back into the lab, everyone's eyes were back on Barry and I. It still freaked me out that there were two Barry's standing in the same room, but I've already started to get used to it by now. "Our satellite finally found our floating friend."

Barry steps forwards and looks down at the computer screen, myself doing the same. There was a blue dot racing across the screen that said time wraith, and I could tell that it was moving at a good speed, not to mention that it was getting closer to us. Eobard said not to worry, but I couldn't help it.

"We better go," I say while turning to Barry, ready to get the hell out of here. It's not like the other point in time was my home, but it was closer to home than here.

Barry nods as he looks back up, eyeing the other Barry as he steps forwards. The two of them stare at one another before grabbing their middle pieces on their suits, switching them out. For a moment they stand there and acknowledge the given moment, but I was ready to go, especially after looking back on that screen and seeing the time wraith even closer than before.

"Barry," I say one more time before he slips his mask part of his suit on, along with me doing the same. He looks back at the others before muttering a "Thank you", but I didn't say anything. I had nothing to say.

I look up at him, nodding. "You lead, I'll follow."

He nods before darting off, a lightning bolt leaving a trace. I take a deep breath before running after him, dashing down into the pipeline and following Barry around and around in a circle so we could gain speed. It wasn't until about the third lap around I heard the time wraith behind me, chilling me to the core.

I glance over my shoulder to get a glimpse of it, but just as I did, my feet trip up. My left foot gets caught on my right leg as I go toppling to the ground, rolling as I did so. I grunt before finally stopping, my eyes taking a moment to readjust themselves. Soon after that, I really started to panic.

I tried getting back up onto my feet to run again, but the speed was draining from me fast. My feet were forgetting how to run and my body was losing the speed force. I needed Barry.

I fall onto the ground once again before two hands were on my arms, lifting me back up again. Suddenly I was in Barry's arms as he looks down at me, fear yet courage in his eyes. For a moment I wasn't sure how to react to it, but then I remembered what I needed. It only takes me a few seconds before I feel the speed force back within me, which caused my feet to start working again and for me to run back along side Barry.

I started to trail behind a little, and that was when I had seen the time wraith catch up and place it's hand on Barry. He screams from a reason unknown to me, but I needed to get that thing away from him. Barry keeps on running as I do as well, pushing my feet to move faster as I jumped up from the wall and down onto the time wraith, knocking it to the side as it skidded across the ground.

I keep running after this happens, not daring to look back at the thing. I knew that if I looked back, I would see it still coming straight for us, but at least I helped Barry last a little bit longer. My prayers are answered when I look forwards and see a blue worm hole appear in the air, which was our ticket back home.

Barry jumps inside as I follow him, focusing on him only as I did so. If I lost him, I'd be lost within time, and that was more than a scary thought. It only takes a few more seconds as we dash through time and space until the next thing I know, the both of us are being thrown onto the floor in the lab, back in our time.

"Did you even go?" I hear Caitlin say as I look down, finding that I had landed on top of Barry somehow. This seemed to always happen.

"It's coming!" I shout as I roll off of him, sitting up with eyes wide.

Cisco furrows his eyebrows. "What's coming?"

"The time wraith!" Barry shouts, and by then we were both on our feet. However, by that time, the time wraith was already entering the room, heading straight for Barry and I.

Cisco holds up some type of gun against it, pulling the trigger, but it not doing anything. Panic really starts to settle within me then, but before I could even move or process what was happening, the time wraith was soaring towards Barry before throwing him onto the ground. I go to push the thing off of him, but the time wraith grabs me by the throat with it's other hand, an odd sensation coming over me.

The only way I could describe what happened was that the life was literally being drained from me. I could feel my skin start to wrinkle up as darkness started to close in, but I wasn't giving up. No way in hell. I manage to lift my hand as I aim it towards the time wraith, focusing on all I had left to get that thing away from us.

It takes a moment, but then I feel it's hand leave my throat as my youth flowed back to me; almost as if it had never been taken. The same happens for Barry as he gasps and sits up, eyes wide as he watches me use my powers against the creature. I could tell that I was losing my grip on it, but like I said earlier, it gave us at least a little more time.

Suddenly then, I see sound waves ripple across the room from behind me as the time wraith screams, using it's hands to cover it's ears. A few seconds after that, a light burns within it's chest before exploding, disappearing for good it seemed. After I was certain that the creature was no longer a threat, I whip around and see Hartley standing there, a smile on his face.

"I suddenly realized...low frequency, high intensity," he laughs, nodding his head from his accomplishment. His eyes land on me then. "I'm afraid we haven't met, have we?"

"That's Raven," Cisco says, a faint smile on his face. "She's from that other earth I was telling you about."

He nods before his eyes land on my costume. "Nice suit."

Cisco grins ear to ear before I throw my head back onto the ground, closing my eyes to take everything in. So much happened in such a short amount of time...well, I guess it wasn't as short as it really was. At least Barry or I didn't die today, that's the good thing.

At least, for now I suppose.

"Knock, knock," I hear Barry say as I glance away from the TV, quickly grabbing the remote before flipping it off.

He stands there for a moment before I speak. "What's up?"

I watch him take three steps farther into the room, almost as if he was keeping his distance yet wanting to come closer for some reason. "I just thought I'd let you know that Eobard wasn't lying...it really is the speed equation."

I raise my eyebrows, surprised at that news. "Well now you're faster, Barry Allen, so what next?"

He walks farther into the room until he's about two steps away from my bed, his hands in his pockets. "Next we work on opening the breaches. I'm sure you're excited about that news."

I start to agree with him, but then I stopped for some reason. Of course I was excited about that news; I wanted to see Jay again, that's for damn sure. The only thing that made me stop was because...well, as much as I was taught to hate Barry Allen, something about him was growing on me. And him wanting to opening the breaches which causes Jay to come back over here to this earth meant Barry's death was closer than I thought. I wasn't sure what to think about it.

I take a deep breath. "Barry, are you sure you want...are certain that you want to reopen them?"

"I can't just let him terrorize that other world," he sits on the edge of my bed now, confident in his answer. "He's plagued your world enough, Raven. It's about time someone did something about it."

I bite my tongue, not sure what to say. I couldn't figure out what to say. Barry speaks before I do. "Don't you want to go back to a world that doesn't have him in it?"

An image of my parents flashed across my mind. Their screams echo in my head before I shake it away, remembering all of the things that Jay has done for me. In all truth, I couldn't picture a me without him. I change the topic. "Barry, when we went back in time...I realized that I've never met my doppleganger here yet."

"Did you see yours?" he asks, looking just about as curious as me.

I shake my head. "No, but a lady thought I was her. She said something about how I was supposed to be in the hospital; I guess she had cancer from what I gathered."

Barry's head lowers for a moment before looking back up. "And now you're wondering what happened?"

I nod my head, speaking quickly. "Yeah, I'm just curious; not that it will really make any difference if I found out."

"I can ask Cisco to look into it if you'd like?" Barry nods, a sincere look in his eyes.

I'm silent for a long moment before I nod my head, smiling back slightly. "Thank you."

He stares at me for a long moment as well before he looks down at his feet, gathering courage it seemed before opening his mouth again. "Thank you for saving my ass today...multiple times."

"I can say the same," I laugh slightly. "I thought you were going to leave me in that timeline when I had ran out of speed in the pipeline."

"You thought I'd leave you there?" he says, sounding baffled that I even thought that. "Raven, I wouldn't do that. Don't think I'd ever do something like that to you."

I look down at my hands as my cheeks grow hot. What the hell? "I was the idiot who should have remembered that I didn't have much speed left within me. I must have forgot and not noticed it after seeing that time wraith."

The next thing I know, Barry's hand was in my own as my eyes flash upwards, my eyes meeting his as he speaks carefully. "Either way, we saved each other's asses, and I don't know what would have happened back there if you wouldn't have came. I know you've said you aren't a hero, but you are to me, Raven."

My stomach fluttered; something I've never felt before. It was weird, that's for sure. "Feel special Barry Allen, because I hate that word hero, but I'll let you say it. Don't abuse that privilege though-"

Lips. His lips were touching mine in that instance. I'm completely frozen still as he kisses me, his lips tasting like mint on my lips. In that short moment, time stood still. Barry Allen was kissing me; the speedster that I was sent here to keep an eye on that Jay was going to kill, was kissing me. My mind screamed at me to pull away and to run, but that was the thing I couldn't understand.

I felt like I was on cloud 9.

Why was I enjoying this? I kept trying to remember why I was here; that I wasn't someone that Barry should get close to. For a moment, I relax into the kiss and return the favor, but the second I came up for air, Jay's voice booms in my head, almost as if he was really standing here now watching what I was doing.

No love. No trust.

I pull my lips away from Barry, eyes wide with confusion. He opens his eyes as he stares back at me, wondering what I was going to say about the action he just committed. I just sit there in silence as my mouth gapes open like a fish out of water, completely and utterly speechless.

Barry shakes his head. "I-I'm sorry...I shouldn't have done that."

He quickly stands then and starts to walk away, but I couldn't let him walk away after saying that. "Barry, I-"

"Goodnight, Raven," he says finally before dashing off, a streak of lightning replacing his spot. I stop myself from getting up and following him, only because too many emotions were flooding my body right now that I couldn't sort out.

Barry kissed me. Jay wants me to help him kill him and take his speed. Barry wants to reopen the breaches. Barry Allen just kissed me on the lips. Jay told me no trust and no love, but I trusted...

and I loved.

aCK GUYS IM SO GLAD THAT THIS FINALLY HAPPENED LIKE I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR IT FOR SO LONG NOW. What do you think? Will Raven stay on the "dark side" or will Barry convince her otherwise? We'll have to wait and find out!
