4. Leap of Faith

If there was one thing I hated more than the fact that I was stuck here on this earth, it was the cold.

I'm not even sure how Barry and the rest of his little group managed to drag me out of that room and bring me to a place out in the middle of nowhere. It was freezing out here and I barely had any clothes besides for the coat Cisco gave me and the hat Barry had borrowed from Iris. I looked like a fool standing out here, but I guess I was only doing my duty of watching Barry for Zoom.

"This is a lot deeper than you said," Barry says, looking over the cliff they dragged me too. Apparently Barry was going to test his speed and see how fast he was; but we all knew that no way in hell was he fast enough to jump across this thing.

Cisco looks over as well, throwing a rock to the bottom. "It looked smaller on the map."

"Because that's flat," Barry groans, taking a step back in annoyance. He looks over at me, raising his eyebrows. "Would you try jumping across this?"

I gave him my honest answer. "Not unless I wanted to die."

Cisco glares at me before walking over to Barry, who was now looking at the ground due to nerves. "Listen, Barry, you can do this. You're fast enough."

Wells walks over then, holding a notepad. "To reach the speed velocity, you'll have to go this fast."

Barry's eyes widen. "I guess today is the day I die."

"Barry, you're going to be fine. I'm 80% sure of it," Cisco states before pausing, looking up into the sky. "Well, 76%. Maybe 72...Caitlin, what do you think?"

"If you don't feel ready, you probably shouldn't do it," she says. Cisco gives her and I pathetic looks while holding his arms out.

"Okay, negative nancy's," he complains, but I just pulled the coat around my arms closer to me, still freezing.

I raise my eyebrows. "Technically I never said he shouldn't try."

"So that's a yes then," Cisco nods. "Three against one, looks like you're doing it man."

Barry nods. "Zoom is also still out there. Until I figure out how to get back, I have to be faster than him. Right now, I wasn't even fast enough to save Jay. I have to do this no matter what."

Everyone is silent as I groan inside my head, wishing I could have taped all that for Zoom when I got back to my earth. He would have gotten a real kick out of it after he steals his speed.

"Hang on," Cisco says, looking over at me just as soon as Barry got into position. "Can Raven at least go to the other side so I can feel a little bit better about this?"

I furrow my eyebrows. "What good will it do if I'm over there? I'm not gonna catch him."

Barry gives me a look as Cisco sighs. "Look, just be his motivator. You'll give him something to focus on."

I roll my eyes before walking over to Barry, placing my hand on him as I feel the speed force flow within me, jolting me a little. "Alright."

Next thing I know, I'm turning and running at the speed of light across the dam, reaching the other side in under two seconds. I gasp from the cold air that whipped at my face, my breath even fogging up the air around me. It takes me a moment to readjust my vision to look across the canyon, seeing Barry get back into position as the others watched with their equipment and gadgets.

"Don't look down!" I shout over, cracking a smile ever so slightly. I could tell that that only made Barry more nervous, which was what my comment was supposed to do. He wasn't going to make it across this thing; but I guess if he does fall, I will have to catch him. Zoom can't take his speed when he's dead.

I shift all of the weight onto my right foot as I cross my arms, waiting to see how all of this as going to play out. The sound of the water rushing below made me slightly nervous for Barry as well, but only because I didn't want him dead. Not yet, anyways.

Barry kneels down before looking straight ahead at me, digging his back foot into the dirt for traction. I hold my breath as he kicks off, dashing towards me as fast as he could possibly run. The next thing I know, he's leaping into the air and soaring above the water below, leaving the others behind on the other side. I thought he was going to make it, at least until he lost speed and started to soar downwards.

"Dammit Barry," I curse under my breath before I uncross my arms and take off running down the cliff, glancing up at him as he flailed his arms to stop. I would have tried using my anti-gravity ability on him, but he was too far away for it to work. It wasn't until he got really close when I saw the look of fear on his face, and it was then as well that I realized that I didn't really have an idea on how to catch him.

My worry didn't last long when suddenly I slam into something rough feeling, but it wasn't water or a boulder. My feet stop moving then as something else lands on top of me, causing me to groan and hiss in pain. I heard Barry grumble under his breath then, causing me to realize that it was him that landed on me, plus the fact that I was in some type of net, flying up away from the water below.

"What the hell," I say as Barry scrambles off of me, but the movement of the net causes the two of us to fall and bump into one another. I didn't like being this close to him at all.

Suddenly we're up over the cliff looking down at Cisco, Caitlin, and Wells. Cisco was holding a controller as he started to mock someone, presumably Caitlin and Wells. "Why are you bringing the drones, Cisco? We won't need those, Cisco."

Barry and I look down at them for a moment before he looks over at me. "I thought you said you wouldn't catch me?"

I raise an eyebrow. "I couldn't just let you plummet to your death. You saved my life once, Barry Allen, so I guess it's my turn to repay the favor."

Barry smiles slightly, making it ironic since I was only keeping him alive for one reason only. "Thanks."

I fake a smile for him as Cisco lowers us to the ground in front of them, the net dropping around us as we stood back up. I brush myself off as Barry looks up at Cisco. "That was pretty smart, I must admit."

"When has anything I've ever done not been smart?" Cisco says before everyone pipes in.

"What about the time you made the cold gun?"

"Or the time you thought it was a good idea to drink five slushies at the same time?"

"Can't forget about the time you tried on the flash suit and people saw you out in public and tried to catch you."

Cisco glares and points at Barry. "What? I can't try on the suit I made? Why is that so illegal?"

Barry gives him a pathetic look. "It's not, but trying it on out in public, dude? Really? You're lucky I was around to save your ass."

Cisco looks down at the ground, dazed out. "I don't regret it; it was the first and last time I actually had girls chasing after me."

I snicker at that as Caitlin gets back onto topic. "Um well, Barry, you almost reached the right speed velocity. Just a little bit faster and you got it."

"Back to the treadmill," Barry sighs, glancing over at me.

Cisco holds his finger up. "Nuh uh, no. Not today. Team Flash needs a little downtime."

"Downtime?" Wells says, raising his eyebrows.

He nods while shoving his remote control into his pocket. "Yes, like at the club. Team Flash bout to get turnt!"

"Please don't say that every again."

-----------

"You've never been to a club before?" Barry shouts over to me, but my eyes were stuck on all of the lights and my ears were hurting from all of the loud sounds.

I shake my head. "I never really got out much."

"Well now you're with the cool kids," Cisco says, grinning ear to ear. I could tell that he was really enjoying all of this. "We know how to party it up."

"Oh look Cisco, let's go dance," Caitlin says while dragging him away, whispering to me that she was sorry about him before disappearing in the crowd. Barry laughs at the two of them before he nods over towards the bar.

"Want a drink?" he shouts.

I think for a moment, remembering everything Jay told me. "Yeah, sure."

Barry leads as I follow close behind him, looking over at Caitlin and Cisco for a moment to see their horrendous dance moves. Cisco was getting it, but they weren't good moves at all. Like, at all.

I take a seat at the bar as I scan everything, still taking it all in. It was weird being someplace where everyone could just let go and have a good time. I didn't have anything like that in my childhood, but I guess I wasn't old enough back then to go someplace like here anyways. I wondered what it would have been like to of came to a place like this if my parents wouldn't have been...taken.

"So tell me a little more about yourself," Barry says, sitting down next to me. I was taken back by the question; no one has ever asked me a question like that before. "I mean, what was your life like back on Earth two?"

Quick, come up with a lie Raven. "I was a Photographer."

"Really?" Barry says, his eyes showing interest. I mean, it wasn't really all that much of a lie. I wasn't a photographer, but that was what I wanted to do when I had grown up. I loved the idea that you could capture a memory in a single photo...it was powerful.

I cross my legs, the blue dress I had on hugging my curves nicely. "Yeah. I loved capturing moments and memories for other people."

"Did you have your own business?" he asks me as my mind wandered a little more. It was like every question he asked unlocked a part of my brain that I forgot existed. He was showing me again what I had locked away so long ago; things I forgot I was even interested in.

The bartender comes by and leaves two shots sitting in front of us. "I had a little studio next to the police department before Zoom destroyed it."

"Destroyed it?" Barry asks, furrowing his eyebrows.

I nod. "He burned down a lot of the buildings just because. I lost everything."

I must have really sounded realistic, because then Barry reaches up and sets his hand on top of mine, which was placed on the countertop. I glance down at it before he looks me in the eyes. "We're going to fix everything. He's going to pay for what he's done."

For some reason, I didn't remove my hand from under his. I didn't want to. Something about being in contact with Barry made a spark ignite inside of me; something I've never felt before. I couldn't tell what it was, but it scared me.

Just then, a bright light goes zooming into the club as the wind whips my hair, causing me to pull my hand away then. I didn't know what was happening before it was too late. Barry and I are standing quickly as a few people remark about missing wallets and purses, causing Barry to flash away after whoever it was. I didn't really have any other choice than to follow.

It was hard running in this dress, but taking off the heals really helped me run. When I ran outside of the club, it took me a minute to figure out which direction they went, but after I caught up with them, I was speechless with what I saw. In the light was a brunette girl; one who had the same speed ability as Barry and I. Only she was faster. Much faster.

I run out of breath as I stop myself, watching her as she kept on running away, disappearing into the night. Barry gasps as well as he slams to a halt a few yards ahead of me, looking up in the direction that she went. He looks back at me, eyes wide.

"You saw that too right?" he breathes, ripping his hood off on his suit.

"It was a girl."
