44. Uprising

A breath of relief escapes my lips when I flash home, finding Jay standing there with his back turned, setting down one of the pieces of art he stole. Laurel gasps next to me when I set her down after the fast run, her eyes wide in awe as she looks around at the place I've called home for most of my life. After hearing her gasp, Jay whips around and stares at her and I, his mask still on.
Before I can speak, Jay is flashing forwards and grabbing me, taking me over to the next room. When we stop, he rips his mask off and stares at me, confusion and a little bit of anger behind his eyes. "Who's she?"
I glance around the corner at Laurel, seeing that she was still just standing there. "That's Laurel Lance-"
"Why is she here?" he asks me before I can finish.
"She's here because she needs a teacher to show her how to use her powers," I state simply before going into more detail. "I found her in an ally on the way back here; she needed help and I saved her. She's got something I think we can use, Jay. You'll just have to see for yourself."
He furrows his eyebrows, looking intrigued. "What makes you think we could use her?"
"Well, considering the fact that she was able to knock me, a speedster, off my feet, she must be useful," I say, shrugging my shoulders slightly with a little hint of excitement in my eyes. "She just needs to be taught how to use her powers and what for..."
I give him a look then, and I knew that he was getting what I was hinting at. I didn't know Laurel at all yet, but I could tell there was a light inside of her. The idea of turning someone like her into a villain; to show her what she is really made of, excited me. It doesn't take much to get someone to realize what they can do when you give them a little taste of power...which is what happened when Jay found me.
"You're sure about this?" Jay asks me one more time, his eyes glancing back around at Laurel in the other room. "You're sure about...her?"
I glance back at her, something in my gut telling me that we could use her. Sure, it was hard enough to go up against two speedsters as it was, but to add her to the mix...we'd be even more powerful. "She has a lot of potential. You'll just have to see for yourself."
Laurel calls out then, her eyes wandering. "Hello?"
Jay walks around me and puts his hood back on, covering his face. Laurel's eyes go wide when she turns and faces him, fear written on her face. However, when she sees me come walking up from behind him, she relaxes slightly.
"Y-You're Zoom," she breathes, her bottom lip quivering. "How-"
"My friend tells me that you have a power that you don't know how to control," Jay says in that raspy voice of his, sounding demonic as always. I thought that there was no way in hell Laurel would answer to someone with that menacing sound of a voice, but to my surprise, she opens up fast.
She takes a deep breath. "I-I came from Star City. I actually came here to get away from someone, but tonight those guys came and well...I screamed. I thought that when I screamed it would be to get help, but instead it felt like everything inside of me raced forwards to escape, and that was when I knocked your friend off of her feet. She saved me after that, but I don't know how I did it or how to control it..."
Jay gives me a look then, but I couldn't tell what he was thinking since he was hiding behind his mask. I look back at Laurel, licking my lips slowly. "So that's the first time something like that has happened?"
She nods her head. "Yes, I'm positive. Why?"
"It's just odd you're just now activating these powers since the particle accelerator exploded years ago..." I fade out, remembering that dreadful night. Back then, it used to terrify me, but now, I was glad to have been given these powers.
Her faces goes pale then. "Wait, y-you're telling me that I'm a metahuman?"
I nod my head then, surprised that she didn't put two and two together yet. Her eyes fall to the ground in that moment, fear and panic washing over her. I wasn't sure why she was so terrified to be a meta, but something about seeing her expression only made me want to help her more than I already did.
"We can help you," I state once again, my eyes flicking to Jay. "We can show you how to put your powers to use."
Jay adds onto what I was saying. "You have the chance to work with the two most feared villains in Central City."
For a moment, something in Laurel's eyes show the goodness that was inside of her. However, along with that was a sense of broken-ness behind them, as if she carried a lot of baggage. It was then that light faded and turned into something that looked like revenge mixed with a cry for help, and I knew what her answer was going to be.
Her bottom lip quivers. "Please, help me."

Present
Time was something we didn't seem to have lately, and listening to Cisco and Harry argue about the new sound wave device they designed made it feel as if it was ticking away faster and faster.
"So to make things more understandable for all of us, the people on earth 2 vibrate at a different frequency, meaning that this device will stun and knock out anyone that hears it?" I state, cutting Cisco off in the middle of a sarcastic comment towards Harry. "And in order for this to work all over Central City, Barry has to run in a circle so that it refracts, causing everyone inside that circle to be hit with the sound."
"Bingo," Cisco says, making finger guns at me. "See, she gets it."
"Is Barry fast enough to do this on his own?" I ask, not meaning for it to sound like I was calling him slow. "I mean, will he need my help?"
Harry takes the headphones off of his head he was wearing. "Let's hope he won't need your help since you're the back up plan, remember?"
Barry shrugs his shoulders in a cocky sort of way. "I'll be fine, I'm getting faster."
Iris raises her eyebrows at Barry's comment. "But wait, what about Raven, Harry, and Jesse? Won't they be affected too?"
"That's why we made special ear muffs to block the sound," Harry adds, holding up his set.
Cisco smirks slightly. "Beats by Wells."
I cross my arms and roll my eyes slightly before I hear an alarm go off, causing all of us to turn and look towards the computer sitting near by, showing us a white dot in the center of the city. "Looks like Black Siren is back to strike again-"
"Hundreds of people live there," Iris says, her face showing concern.
Harry dashes up the steps to a control panel. "Nows our time, Barry. Fire up the device and let's knock out all of these metas-"
"But Black Siren is about to take out that building...All of those people, Wells-" Barry cuts off as I stand back and watch, my heart aching. I wanted to help.
"Guys, let me go and take care of Black Siren, I could do it without Hunter seeing me-"
"We can't risk that, Raven," Cisco shakes his head. "Besides, aren't you sort of like the outcast right now? Meaning if you face the Laurel look-alike, she'll go run and tell Zoom that you're perfectly fine, and then there goes our back up plan-"
I shake my head. "I don't think she would...either way, people's lives are on the line here. If we have to risk that then so be it, but what other ideas do we have?"
Everyone stands around and blinks at one another for a moment, trying to think of something else we could do instead, but silence fills the air. I nod my head then. "It's decided; Barry goes and runs laps around the city and I'll take care of Black Siren."
I look over at Barry then, seeing how hesitant he looked. Something on his face showed concern, but it wasn't because this meant risking the back up plan. It was something else, and for some reason, something told me that it was because he knew that me going back out there risked more than the plan: it risked my life too.
"Alright," Barry finally breathes, shaking his head. "But if anything goes wrong, and I mean anything-"
"I'll dash away and come find you," I finish for him, adding a little smile on my face. He nods his head towards me as he half smiles back, nerves still showing all over him.
Cisco claps his hands together. "Let's get this show on the road."

As I ran to the building Black Siren was in, I couldn't help but wonder how she was going to react when she saw me. Either she'd be glad to see that I was still alive and that Hunter didn't kill me, or she would want to rip my face off for what I had done to her in the past. I couldn't decide which option it would be, so I tried to keep myself distracted.
When I finally make it, I dash up the floors until finally I spot her standing by the window on the third level, looking out as if she was deciding which building to take down next. As I stop in my tracks, I can't help but stare at her, wondering if she was even real almost. It's been so long since I'd seen her last.
"Black Siren," I state simply, my voice sounding firm yet slightly wavering. I hold my ground as she turns and faces me, her eyes growing wide. She seems stunned to see me standing here, but only for a moment.
I wait for her to say something as I hold my breath. "Silver Trickster...nice to see you again. Especially since I heard you were supposed to be dead."
She takes a step towards me. "Sounds like you wished I was."
She pauses, cocking her head slightly. It appeared that she was about to comment on my remark, but then she changes the subject. "You come to watch me knock these buildings down to the ground? Just like the good o'l days?"
I prevent myself from thinking back on it. "You have to stop this."
"Stop this? Wow, Zoom really was right..." she fades out, shaking her head with a slight laugh in her tone. "You really do believe you're a hero."
Her last sentence bounces around inside of my head for a moment before I fire back. "Tell me, how did you two get mixed back up together? Were you just dying to be his slave again?"
"Slave?" she scoffs. "He realized what he lost and came back to me. After all, I'm one of the few that knows everything about you, Raven. I know your weaknesses, and I know you care about your red little friend. You never had what it took to work with Zoom. It makes me laugh knowing that you were even the one who taught me what I know."
I bite my tongue, holding back so many things I could have replied with, but I kept my mouth shut. Instead, I hold my ground as she takes a step closer, a menacing grin on her face.
"And now it looks like I'll have the honor of killing you...and this time, I'll make sure you stay dead."
