6. We Could Be Heros
The one thing I noticed the most the longer I was on this Earth was how less lonely I was. Back on my Earth, Jay was usually never around...at least when I was still a kid. He was always up to something and never dared take me along with him, so I always was alone. Here, at least someone was around me; whether they were working or striking up a conversation with me, I still felt more at home here that I ever did back at my actual home.
"Caitlin, I'm sorry, but your friend has gone coo-coo for cocoa puffs," Cisco remarks as he dumps a dust pan filled with glass into the trash; the glass that had broke from Joe flying into the window earlier. The image kept playing over and over in my mind, and that jitteriness of feeling like a hero was still buzzing inside of me.
Barry shakes his head. "And now she's out there with more V9."
"But she doesn't know that I put a micro tracker in the drug," Caitlin says, stopping from fixing up Joe. He had a cut in the head, but other than that, he was pretty much fine. My bullet wound was healed already, but that's only thanks to Barry's speed ability.
Joe raises his eyebrows. "That was a good idea."
Caitlin faintly smiles before her and Cisco walk over to the computer, typing a few things as we all trailed our way over. Barry silently walks up behind me before whispering to me; something I wasn't ever expecting him to say to me.
"Thanks," he smiles, nodding his head. "You got shot for Jesse today, and that is what a real hero would do."
Again, with that word. I hated it.
"I'm not a hero," I shake my head as my eyes drift to the floor.
Barry furrows his eyebrows. "Of course you are-"
"Barry," I say sternly, looking back up. I wanted to get my point across. "Don't call me a hero."
He looks desperately confused by my sudden anger, but he couldn't understand. He wasn't going to understand...at least, not until the right time. Not until Zoom comes back to wreak havoc.
"She's at the Central City bridge," Cisco says, narrowing his eyes as we all turn and look at the screen. The little tracker that was in Trajectory was zooming back and forth across the screen; giving me a headache.
Caitlin asks the question we all were thinking. "Why is she running back and forth?"
Barry nods his head. "She's creating friction."
"At that vibration and speed..." Wells fades off, thinking as we all stare at him, desperate to know what he was thinking. "She could destroy that whole bridge."
"And everyone on it," Barry fades out, his face drooping more with every millisecond. He looks up at me then, his eyes locking with mine, and I knew what he was going to ask of me in that moment.
I answered him first. "Barry, I told you, I'm not a hero. I can't help you-"
"Maybe you're not a hero, but you are like me," he walks over to me, looking me in the eyes still. It made me feel weak, and I hated it. "You can help save all of those people, Raven. You have the ability to do things no one else can do. Please Raven, be a hero for just one night."
I hated him with every ounce of fiber in my body, but something about the desperation and fear in his eyes made me consider. His pitch was nice, I must admit, but I was a villain. I wasn't supposed to save people. This wasn't apart of Jay's plan.
Dammit, I really did hate Barry Allen.
"Only for one night."

I didn't have a costume to run in, but Cisco did provide me with some pieces of clothing that were supposed to not catch on fire.
Shoes were the main thing; something about the way they were made were supposed to be "speedster" proof, like Barry's shoes in his costume. Then there was the jacket that came along with the shoes (they both even matched) and then a mask. It wasn't much, but it at least disguised me and kept my normal clothes from burning off.
When Barry and I finally made it to the bridge, chaos had already been unleashed. Trajectory was zooming back and forth across it as people ran and screamed for their lives, but I was torn on what to do. Just hearing them scream made me miss Jay and being Silver Trickster even more, but I was here to help tonight. Talk about the irony.
"Split up?" I breathe as Barry stops next to me, watching the same scene. I was new at this whole hero thing; I wasn't sure what they were supposed to do.
Barry nods. "You get the people off the bridge, and I'll go for Trajectory."
Before I could say anything more, Barry was dashing away, leaving me standing alone at the end of the bridge. I bite my tongue before running off after him, only instead of following him to catch Trajectory, I snatched up every person I was close to and ran them back to safety. I ran back and forth for what seemed to be a thousand times before stopping at the end of the bridge, seeing that everyone was off and safe.
It wasn't until I saw a flash of lighting run towards me when I realized that the bridge was coming down, and I couldn't tell if that flash was Barry or Trajectory. I didn't find that out either until I felt a hard fist in my face, knocking me off of my feet.
I roll a couple of times before landing face down, propping myself up halfway only to spit blood out of my mouth. A laugh comes across my ears then, and the rage I had felt earlier all game back. I was going to make this bitch pay.
"You're ruining all of my fun!" she whines, shaking her head. I noticed that she was shifting her weight back and forth between her feet, showing me exactly what this drug was doing to her.
I glare up at her. "Trust me, this really did look like fun. I wouldn't really have minded you if this would have been under different circumstances."
She cocks her head at me, not following. "I thought you were the good guy here?"
"And I thought you had more sense," I spit, getting ready to pounce. "You should know the bad guys aren't supposed to stick around after the job is done."
I'm dashing on my feet then, grabbing her shoulders and pushing her backwards. The two of us go tumbling down the street and towards the edge of the bridge before she kicks me off of her, causing me to go flying back into the concrete wall that was left of the bridge. I hiss from the sudden pain, but soon I was opening my eyes again to retaliate.
Just when I opened my eyes, I saw that she was running at me again, but I had a defense this time. I hold my hand out as I focus on a nearby concrete wreckage, causing it to lift into the air before I hold it out in front of me. Trajectory's fist goes flying into the piece of concrete, causing a loud, high pitched scream to come across my ears.
I drop the concrete, seeing that her hand was pretty much broken. She glares up at me, spit flying. "You bitch!"
I was ready to go at her again, and I was about to, but that was before a random figure comes soaring from out of the sky and slams into Trajectory, causing the two of them to go tumbling down the street. I knew it had to of been Barry, but the little victory of him jumping across the bridge was short lived as I'm racing down towards the two of them, ready to end this.
When I get there, I find Barry pushing himself up off the ground; but Trajectory had yet to do so. She was gasping for help; for the pain to go away, but it was useless. She lost, and that was that.
"It's over Eliza," Barry breathes, out of breath clearly. That was a far jump.
She glares up at the two of us. "It is never over."
Suddenly then she picks something up, something I didn't even realize was lying there, but then I saw that it was another dosage of V9. "Eliza, no please! Stop doing this to yourself!"
Eliza looks at Barry for a moment before going to me. "I have to!"
Barry shakes his head. "I know you actually don't want to hurt anyone."
"You don't know anything about me!" she shouts back, gritting her teeth.
Barry continues, trying to save her, but I already knew she couldn't be saved. "I know you're not a bad person, Eliza. This is the V9 in your system. I also know what it feels like to want to be the best; to be the fastest. It makes you feel like there's not enough time to accomplish things the right way, but it's a cop out. This is killing you! Look at yourself, Eliza! You're not okay. Let us help you...please."
Something about the way Barry said it triggered something in me, and I didn't like it. Eliza just looks up at the two of us, tears brimming her eyes. I thought for a moment she was going to put the vial down, to end all of it, but then she's injecting herself yet again, causing me to bite my tongue.
She stands up then, lightning bouncing off of her skin, a wide smirk on her face. "That is all of the help I need. How does it feel to know that I am faster than you will ever be?"
I saw that Barry was crying then, but not because he wasn't the fastest. It was because he couldn't save her.
"Oh, and you," Eliza says, cocking her head as she looks over at me. "You aren't like him; you aren't a hero. You have a darkness that you don't want him to know about, and that's why I hope to see you around. I could use a sidekick someday."
I grit my teeth, not sure how she pulled that out of me, but she almost hit the nail on the head. Only I wasn't a sidekick. I'll never be the sidekick. "Tootles!"
She turns and bolts off then, leaving Barry and I standing alone. I wanted to run after her, to not let her get away, but Barry just holds his arm out in front of me, stopping me. I look over at him, confusion on my face. "You're letting her get away-"
"Look," he breathes, and when I looked again, I noticed what he was talking about. Eliza's lightning was no longer yellow like Barry and I's, but instead, it was like Jay's...a cold blue. We don't get to take the sight in for long before there's a bright flash of light, and then nothing.
Barry and I run off to where Eliza was supposed to be, but instead, we found her costume lying there on the ground. It was almost as if she was just snatched out of thin air...but it only made me think of one thing.
What if that ever happens to Jay?
-*+*-
"So, Eliza just evaporated from running too fast?" Iris asks, staring at the costume from Eliza we had hanging up.
Caitlin steps forwards. "More like cellular degeneration. Like Jay's."
"Jay warned us of V9," Joe states, but I had no idea what they were talking about. "Now we know why."
Wells walks into the room then, Cisco asking him about Jesse, but I zoned out. I was too busy looking at Barry, noticing that something was wrong with him. I assumed that it was that he couldn't save Eliza, but until Iris asked him what was actually wrong, I realized what it was really about.
"It's just that..." Barry fades out. "Eliza's lightning turned blue."
Cisco nods. "Yeah, what if it's a side effect of the V9?"
"Well Jay took V9 and his lightning didn't turn blue," Caitlin states, but I was more than lost. I knew little to nothing about this earth Jay, or I guess I should say time reverent Jay.
Barry crosses his arms. "Yeah, but how fast was he running?"
"Not as fast as Eliza," Iris thinks out loud, staring at the floor.
"Okay, what if V9 is what turns your lightning blue? I mean, that would make sense as to why Zoom is so much faster than me," Barry says, sitting on the edge of a counter behind him.
I tap my finger on my arm as I watch all of this play out. "If so, then that means he's sick, right?"
"He's dying," Wells says then, and my heart dropped into my stomach. I didn't ever want to hear the words Jay, Zoom, and dying in the same sentence. I wouldn't accept it. "That's why he wants your speed. He's dying, and he needs a cure."
Barry's face drops then as he looks over at Caitlin. "Same as Jay."
They were figuring it out.
"No, no," Caitlin shakes her head, covering her face with her hands.
Cisco wasn't accepting it either. "What? No, Jay was killed right in front of all of us, guys."
"We've seen a speedster be in two places at once before," Barry says, anger starting to take over his face. At first it was sadness, but now all I saw was revenge. I didn't like it.
"I guess there's only one way to find out," Wells says, turning and looking at Cisco. Everyone stares at him before looking over at the helmet in the middle of the room, knowing what was going to come next.
I cross my arms. "Guys, I didn't know Jay, but do you really think he would do something like this? He was close to you all."
"Wouldn't be the first time someone betrayed us," Barry growls lowly, his eyes on the floor. I suddenly felt like a sheep in a wolf pack, which was a new feeling for me. What happens when they figure out I'm not like them?
Cisco was already placing his hands on the helmet, vibing, before I could say anymore. Something in my mind screamed to run away now while I still could, but I was still on the inside. There was no way of them knowing who I actually was by figuring out who Jay was. At least, I don't think they could.
The helmet suddenly falls to the floor as it clinks at his feet, meaning that he saw it all. I worried that Cisco saw me there too, since when he turned around to look at us all, his eyes found me first. I was ready to run if I needed to; I had my feet in ready position.
Barry talks first. "What is it?"
Cisco was speechless. "I-It's Jay. He's Zoom."
Everyone's faces were pure betrayal, but I didn't know how they really felt about it. Betrayal was an emotion I wasn't used to, since everyone back at home always listened to me. They knew Zoom would come after them if they didn't.
I tried to act as shocked as everyone else, but the moment Cisco looked back over at me, I knew that he had more to say.
"He said your name," he croaks out, barely breathing. "He called you Silver Trickster."
