Everyone stayed as close to Meena as possible as the sewers grew darker and darker. Now the group could hear the sobbing sounds coming from their dear boss. Meena had the glowstick now since Johnny gave it to her to lead.
There wasn't much light in the sewers except for what's in front of them. Out of nowhere, a skeleton dropped right in front of the group unexpectedly, earning screams and yelps of terror from an unexpected scare.
They breathed heavily to realize that it's just a skeleton right in front of them.
"Bloody Mary, that scared me," Johnny replied with his hand over his chest.
"Normally, I would adore skeletons but not when they jump out of nowhere," Ash uttered breathlessly.
Meena cringed at the appearance of it. "I'm not liking this."
"I don't think anyone likes any of this," Mike implemented.
"We have to keep going," Eddie determined softly.
Meena nodded her head in pure fear as she stepped forward, going around the dangling skeleton with the group following her.
"Ugh, I don't like this at all," Gunter groaned while they stayed close to the elephant.
However, there's more than one skeleton dangling. More skeletons dangled in the sewers, creating a creepy atmosphere that would only scare everyone to death if those skeletons ever come alive and tried to grab them.
They continued to hear sobbing as it began to die down.
"Wait, Moonster, keep crying," Mike uttered. "I know that sounds bad but we're trying to find you."
"Yeah, that sounds really bad, Mike," Nancy responded with her clenched teeth.
"Shh," Meena shushed the mice as her ears perked up more just to hear more groaning than sobbing. "I think Mr. Moon is in pain."
"Or having a nightmare. He sounds like that when he has a nightmare," Mizuki pointed out to the group.
The group continued onward until they reached the sewer opening that would lead into a cell.
"He's in there," Meena pointed with her trunk.
The group looked up with eyes wide.
"Ugh, it's dark in there. There's no windows or anything," Gunter noted to the group.
Johnny stepped in front of Meena and lifted the sewer door just to move it aside. He turns back while having his hands placed on top of each other flatly. "I'll boost you guys up to get Mr. Moon."
Rosita and Gunter were first in line as Johnny helped the pigs up towards the cell. Mizuki followed behind them with Mike and Nancy on her shoulder. Johnny lifted the antelope up towards the cell as she climbed out of the sewers.
The cell was dark and the only sounds that were heard were moans from Buster, who's tossing and turning on the cell bed.
Rosita tiptoed up to him with Gunter behind her. "Mr. Moon?"
Buster curled up. "I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry."
Rosita tilted her head while shaking his shoulders gently. "Mr. Moon, it's okay. You're dreaming."
Buster tossed a bit while trying to open his eyes.
"Mr. Moon--"
Buster gasped with his eyes snapped open. The koala blinked a bit as he noticed Gunter and Rosita standing beside him.
"G-Gunter? Rosita?" Buster uttered their names, rubbing his eyes to see if he's hallucinating. "W-What are you guys doing here?"
"Ve here to rescue you, Mr. Moon," Gunter said excitedly in a hushed tone.
Buster blinked his eyes again to adjust to the darkness. "Rescue me? How did you--?"
"Well, you can't just disappear out of thin air, can you?" Mike added while Mizuki came up close to Rosita and Gunter. "I mean, if you can, that would be an awesome super-power."
Buster smiled in relief to see more of this theater gang joining in like Eddie, Johnny, Meena, Ash, and Nancy. "Guys."
Buster's tears edged out of his eyes from the happiness he felt welling in his heart to see them again as Rosita cooed and hugged the koala softly.
"It's okay, we'll get you out. Did they hurt you?" Rosita examined Buster's face to make sure there weren't any bruises.
"I--"
Rosita discovered Buster's cut on his hand that had the word 'Friend'. "Oh no, you got a cut!"
"It's fine. You guys got to listen to me," Buster uttered while Rosita took out some cotton and alcohol and cleaned Buster's wound on his hand. "The boss in there is going to come any minute now, you have to--"
"Buster, it's okay. We know what's going on," Eddie informed gently.
Rosita took out a band-aid and placed it across the cut.
"What? What do you mean you know what's going on?" Buster questioned Eddie's words.
"We know everything about you, Moonster," Mike clarified Eddie's words.
"No, you don't know everything about me. I--"
"Your real name is Daniel Rambo. You used to be a stripper, part of the gang, and now you're the showman for the theater. Something horrific happened to you at the nightclub and your father was killed in an accident that was not entirely your fault but your Uncle Roy's fault and now Uncle Roy is in charge of the hyenas and is going after you," Ash implemented.
"And now we're getting you out," Johnny added with a bright smile.
Buster tilted his head, now in even more confusion.
"Guys, I hear someone coming," Meena whispered to the others urgently.
Everyone didn't hesitate to jump back into the sewers as Rosita and Gunter helped Buster up on the bed and down into the sewers.
"You guys came in this way?" Buster asked.
"Not the fanciest places to get through but it at least let us slip by undetected," Nancy explained as the theater group sprinted down the dark sewers.
They heard the cell door opening but they were too far to hear the voices.
"They went into the sewers! Find them!"
Meena was the only one who heard a gruff voice ordering the hyenas. "Guys, they're coming!"
"Go, go!" Buster urged the group as the theater gang sprinted down and turned sharp left to where they came.
Meena glanced down to notice flashlights behind them, but far from reach. The elephant caught up with the group.
Johnny, Mike, and Nancy noticed the sewer opening ahead of them as the gorilla picked up the mice and raised his hand up so that they could crawl through the lid's holes to the outside world.
Nancy and Mike crawled through and out of the theaters while noticing the hyena guard patrolling the area. The hyena guard saw the sewer opening up while Mike and Nancy gasped.
An idea came into Mike's head as he looked at Nancy. "Come on, I got an idea!"
Mike took Nancy by the wrist and pulled her through the alleyway to get Johnny's truck.
"Wait, Johnny has the keys--"
"We don't need the keys," Mike replied as he climbed up the car door and opened it with ease. "Heh, Wonder Boy forgot to lock the car."
Mike and Nancy were able to get in the truck with the door opened. They hopped onto the driver's side as Mike found the wiring under the wheel and attempted to hotwire the car.
Nancy noticed the truck was too big for them to drive. "I think we're going to need more than just one mouse on pedals and the other on the wheel."
Mike managed to start the car through wiring, getting him excited. He turned to see Nancy gazing at him with her teeth biting her bottom lip. "Then what do you suggest?"
Nancy smirked when she saw the quills around her from Ash's seating on both the passenger side and the backseat. "Do you think Johnny has tape?"
Mike arched a brow. "I sure hope he does."
~.~
Meanwhile, Johnny opened the sewers with guns raised at him from outside. The gorilla had his eyes bulged out in shock with an awkward pause settling in. He slowly retreated back into the sewers with the others. But, as soon as Johnny crawled back into the sewers with the others, the hyenas already surrounded them in the sewers with guns raised at the theater group. Everyone had their hands up since they had nothing to fight back with.
"Come on out, the jig is up," They heard a voice from outside.
Buster clenched his teeth in fear as one of the hyenas shoved Buster first to move.
Johnny growled at the hyena that pushed his boss as he helped Buster out of the sewers along with the others. Since Meena was the heaviest out of everyone, she helped boost Johnny out of the sewers as Johnny and Eddie helped Meena crawl out of the sewers to join the theater group.
Buster noticed the older koala standing in front of the army of hyenas with their guns raised at his friends...the only family he ever had in a long time.
"See? This is why I can't stand your little theater friends, especially your gorilla pet," Roy pointed at Johnny, who growled at his comment. "See?"
"Okay, you have no right to call Johnny a pet," Rosita snarled with her hands on her hips like a mother would do if her child talks back to her.
"Yeah, ya pervert!" Ash barked.
The guns cocked back in unison, scaring the group a bit.
"Maybe refrain from the name-calling," Gunter whispered to Ash.
"Don't hurt them!" Buster growled with tears in his blue eyes. "You can hurt me and kill me all you want but don't hurt them!"
"Buster, no--" Eddie was cut off when one of the hyenas hit him in the back of his head with the butt of the gun. The sheep collapsed on the ground.
"Stay down!" one of the hyenas ordered the sheep aggressively.
Meena gasped in shock and was about to go beside Eddie but a gun was raised up to her for her to be frozen still.
"Stay where you are," the other hyena demanded the scared elephant.
Johnny and Ash noticed this while standing in front of the elephant.
"Wanna run that by me, punk?" Ash growled, protecting Meena from the hyenas.
Johnny clenched his fist as if he's ready for a brawl, despite having a broken arm.
Buster put his arms out to protect Mizuki and Eddie while Gunter spread his arms out to protect the teens and Rosita.
"Wow, look at everyone here. So protective of each other despite being complete strangers," Roy replied with a small chuckle.
Buster glared at Roy. "Leave them alone."
"Oh? Just like you did a few days ago? Do you remember a lesson I gave you about attachment?" Roy replied with a coy smile.
Buster widened his eyes to remember, which was a mystery to theater people around him. "No, don't you dare."
Unbeknownst to them, the truck was moving bit by bit while braking randomly, to which no one had noticed yet.
The guns were raised higher towards the animals Buster was trying to protect.
One of the hyenas grabbed Buster away from the group, earning gasps from the theater animals.
"Oi, put him down!" Johnny barked aggressively.
The hyenas raised their guns at the theater group without Buster protecting them. The hyenas cackled while holding Buster's head up to have him watch.
"No! Let them go!!!" Buster cried, struggling to get out of the hyenas' holds.
The theater group widened their eyes and watched the guns raised up.
"You don't get attach when you're part of the gang," Roy pointed out while raising his hand to signal them when to shoot them.
"NOOOOO!!!!!" Buster screamed as the theater group held hands and closed their eyes to take the pain.
Dexter arrived at the scene with Ms. Crawly on his back from the rooftop, her body flailing up and down like a cape of a superhero flying through the city. His eyes widened when he saw guns pointed at his son and his friends.
Dexter growled while jumping into the scene from the rooftop. The huge gorilla landed in between the guns and the theater group, holding up the sewer lid to deflect the incoming bullets.
Johnny opened his eyes when he didn't feel the bullets coming at him. He saw his father with widened eyes in shock. "DAD!!!"
Dexter glanced back at his son for a moment while focusing on defending him and Johnny's friends. Once the bullets ceased, Dexter gritted his teeth with a grunt and flew the sewer lid like a frisbee, hitting the hyenas behind Roy.
Ms. Crawly hopped off of Dexter with a glare up at one of the hyenas holding Buster. "Unhand Mr. Moon!"
"And what are you going to do about it, old lady?!" the hyenas cackled at Ms. Crawly's demand.
Ms. Crawly drew her brows together while taking out her small purse. She made her way towards the cackling hyena as she bit his arm, causing the hyena to yelp and let go of Buster. Then, Ms. Crawly smacked the hyena with her purse silly till he passed out. Ms. Crawly smiled victoriously while walking away from the hyena.
"Ms. Crawly!!" Buster hugged the old iguana as Ms. Crawly smiled softly at the koala and hugged him back.
Roy growled while backing away from Dexter, who pierced a deadly glare at him.
Dexter turned back to Johnny, who had his eyes broadened in surprise.
"Dad...you escaped prison. I thought that you're mad at me for not being like you and disown me--"
Dexter hugged his son, interrupting his son's assumptions. There were tears escaping the huge gorilla's eyes while rubbing his head against his son's. "I'm so sorry that I pressured you to become something you're not. You are my son...and you will always be my son no matter what happens."
Johnny's eyes were watered with tears as he hugged his father tightly back. Everyone in the theater group cooed and smiled at Johnny.
Roy chuckled. "Aww, that's so adorable. Too bad it had to end so quickly."
Everyone turned to see more hyenas approaching the alleyway with guns.
Dexter growled and clenched his fists, ready to fight them off.
All of the sudden, the lights from the headlights turned on behind them as the group turned to see a truck charging towards them. The theater animals immediately dodged out of the way. The truck screeched to a stop right beside them.
Nancy rolled down the window from the passenger side. "Get in! Quick!"
The group smiled at the mice as Ash, Buster, Ms. Crawly, Rosita, and Gunter were the first to get in through the window quickly.
"Shoot them all!" Roy shouted an order.
Johnny reached through the window and opened the dashboard, letting guns fall out. He reached for the pistol and aimed it at the hyenas about to shoot them, pulling the trigger and letting the bullets damaged the knees of the hyena shooters, messing up their aims.
Meena climbed up into the pick-up along with Eddie and Dexter as Buster rolled down the back window on the passenger side and held his hands out for Mizuki to grab. Mizuki grabbed his hands quickly as they both tumbled onto the backseat with the antelope right on top of Buster by pure accident.
"Hey, Moonster, Sunglasses, there's no time for a make-out session!" Mike pointed out from the weirdly new contraption helping the mouse to drive the vehicle. The new contraption was shaped like a stick figure a kindergarten child would draw before getting more detailed with Ash's quills shaping the figure. There were tapes that connected them together along with the tapes on the wheel to help Mike turn the vehicle. However, it wouldn't turn tightly since it's required to take a few turns of the wheel.
Johnny jumped through the window and took the wheel. "Here, let me take the wheel!!"
Johnny managed to rip the contraption off while placing Mike up on the dashboard.
"Dang it, Wonder Boy, I want to drive us out of this," Mike groaned in defeat.
"I do thank you for bringing the vehicle to us," Johnny replied with a soft smile. "Now let a professional getaway driver get us out of this mess." With that said, Johnny immediately backed the truck out of the alleyway quickly.
"Well, what are we waiting for?! Go after them!" Roy ordered as the hyenas got out their squad motorcycles and cars and drove after the group.
~.~
Johnny's heart pounded in his chest as he pushed through the intersection, the horns wailing angrily while a few cars rear-ended each other in a sloppy line from each side. The cackling hyenas weren't too far behind them as they swiftly pass through the intersection without problems. His hands were clammy and sweaty from gripping the wheel too hard as he dodged the cars in front of him using only two lanes.
All the while, the theater group hanged on for dear life while Eddie and Meena were at the pick-up of the truck, bulged out eyes in fear whether they will fall off or crash.
Dexter opened the back window. "Oi, Johnny, hand me that automatic rifle down there!"
Johnny nodded his head while picking up the automatic rifle on the floor and handing it to the theater group. "Here! Hand this to Dad!"
Buster and Mizuki helped while handing the rifle to Dexter from the back window.
"Thank you!" Dexter said while aiming the gun at the hyenas riding on motorcycles closely behind them. He pulled the trigger to get them to back off while Meena and Eddie stared at the huge gorilla in shock.
Dexter turned to Eddie and Meena. "You guys get in the truck, it's a lot safer in there than out here!"
Eddie and Meena looked into the truck as Dexter fired more bullets. The bullets plummeted through the tires, earning screeching wails from the tires and flipping the motorcycles in different directions away from them.
Eddie climbed up on the car rooftop to get to the passenger door.
Johnny widened his eyes when he saw cops blocking off the front of the intersection just to catch Dexter. The teenage gorilla became more determined as he pressed the gas pedal harder and turned the wheel to swerve a hard left down the street swiftly. The cops backed up from almost getting hit by the truck. Johnny sped down the hill, causing the truck to hop down the downhill street.
Eddie slid off of the rooftop and held onto the railing on top of the truck with a screech in fear. Buster and Mizuki noticed this as Eddie gestured them to unlock the passenger door. Buster quickly crawled to the front and unlocked the passenger door. The koala opened the door and peeked out to notice cop cars chasing after them. When Buster was about to reach out for Eddie, the squadron car belonging to his uncle came straight at them from the side, hitting the pick-up part. Meena stumbled over the edge of the pick-up as Dexter grabbed her by her hoodie to keep her from falling off.
Unbeknownst to them, there's another helicopter with the camera, broadcasting the chase live for the whole world to see.
Buster almost fell onto the asphalt but Mizuki, Gunter, and Rosita gripped his suit with the help of Mike and Nancy by the mice using what's left of the contraption to help him up.
The koala noticed the squadron car speeding after them as he glanced up at the group. "Someone hand me a pistol!"
Gunter immediately handed the koala the pistol as Buster took it without hesitation. Buster aimed the gun at the tires coming up to him. With his fingers on the trigger, he pulled it. The bullet created a hole in the tire. The squadron truck swerved and fell onto the side, screeching sounds ensued as it caused sparks.
Eddie crawled towards the opening and swung himself through while helping Buster up back into the car. The sheep closed the passenger door while glancing ahead of them.
It was now Meena's turn to attempt to get into the truck as Dexter was firing bullets at the police and Roy's squad cars. The shy elephant's heart pounded in her chest as she gripped the edge of the truck.
Ash saw this with her blue eyes bulged out in shock. She quickly opened the back door and encouraging Meena to swing into the truck.
Meena breathed heavily while her pupils shrunk in terror. With a lump coming down her throat, the teenage elephant slowly stood on the left edge of the pick-up. However, her weight caused the back of the vehicle to turn slightly, as Johnny was noticing this and reached towards the bottom of the hill. The gorilla swerved to the left, causing the truck to lean on the left tires and lifting the other side up.
Ash slipped and almost fell until Rosita grabbed her shirt, slipping herself. Gunter grabbed Rosita's arm and gripped the headrest of the back seat on the passenger side.
Dexter noticed this as he pushed his weight on the other side to keep the truck even on the ground. Rosita was able to pull Ash up back inside of the car while Gunter let go of Rosita's arm and the headrest.
Ash turned to see Meena trembling nervously. The elephant slowly made her way towards the inside of the truck from the driver's side. However, Meena took a misstep, causing her to slip. Ash, Rosita, Gunter, Ms. Crawly, Buster, Eddie, Mizuki, and Mike grabbed the heavy teenage elephant by her blue sweater.
Johnny noticed this with a gasp in shock, tempted to join the others to help her but there's trouble up ahead. When the teenage gorilla driver looked, there's a squad of police cars blocking all the roads that they could take to avoid them.
The theater group saw this as well as everyone gritted their teeth and pulled Meena up into the truck together. Meena helped them by lifting herself up and let them pull her into the truck.
Dexter gasped to see the cars in front of him, raising their guns. "Keep driving straight, Johnny!"
Johnny heard his father and sped down towards the vehicles. Dexter glanced behind him to see the motorcyclists and the squad cars catching up to them. The huge gorilla gasped when he saw one of the hyenas in the squad cars pulling out a bazooka.
Dexter turned back to Johnny. "Johnny, I need you to swerve to the side when I say so! Trust me on this!"
Johnny nodded his head as his rearview mirror was blocked by his theater group, who were hanging on for dear lives.
Dexter witnessed the hyena pulling the trigger and a missile flew rapidly towards them. "Now!!"
Johnny did as instructed, unknowingly and effectively dodging the missile. The missile bolted straight towards the police vehicles in front of them, blowing them up in front of the city of Catalonia. The gorilla drove straight into the flames, dodging every damaged vehicle. And just like that, the black truck holding a fugitive of the law and the theater group disappeared in the cloud of fire, leaving the rest of the officers and the hyenas to wonder where they are now.
~.~
With many searching eyes and cameras, the black truck blended into the shadows aside from the garage as Dexter peeked to make sure he wasn't being watched. The huge gorilla walked towards the garage and opened it quickly. He headed inside in a hurry while the black truck turned into the garage urgently.
After the black truck was parked successfully, Dexter took one last look outside and closed the garage to hide.
Meanwhile, within the black truck, Johnny turned off the ignition with a heavy sigh of relief.
"Okay, whew, that was a close one. How's everyone doing?"
When Johnny turned back to check his theater friends, he's met with wide eyes and gaping mouths as if it's the only way to breathe.
"That...was...AWESOME!!!" Ash shouted happily while releasing the tension through laughter.
"That was not awesome," Eddie opposed Ash's words while his body was trembling.
Everyone opened the doors to the truck, getting out of the vehicle with their legs shaking from the action.
Johnny's hands trembled from driving in an intense chase while the group took a moment to re-cooperate themselves.
Buster watched the theater group trying to wrap their minds around what happened.
"So...are we fugitives now?" Rosita questioned anxiously.
"Well, we did help the hyenas blow up the cop cars just to save our butts. And Wonder Boy's father escaped from prison---so, now we're going to be charged with being involved with reckless driving while helping and harboring a fugitive. So...you could say we're fugitives," Mike responded honestly.
"Oh my gosh, I can't go to jail," Meena responded while breathing heavily in fear.
"We'll be fine, Meena," Johnny reassured her gently.
"Johnny, going to jail is not a chill thing," Eddie responded in panic. "We could get arrested for all this if we just go out into the public now. The next thing you know, we'll be on the wanted posters."
Meena bit her lips while holding in her tears.
"You sure have a way of making things better," Ash sarcastically implied while comforting Meena.
"Come on, guys, let's not start a fight," Mizuki tried to calm the group down.
"Ya, I'm sure zere's a way ve can settle all of zis!" Gunter replied in a positive tone.
"Settle this? The only way we can settle any of this is if we all just go to jail," Eddie pointed out.
"Oh, come on, Wooley. There's got to be another way to settle it other than 'go to jail'. Maybe we should have Roy arrested," Mike suggested.
"How are we going to arrest Roy? He's a freaking powerhouse by now and anything we throw at him, his lawyers will instantly shut it down," Dexter replied with determination. "If I know Roy, he's got good lawyers that will make sure to shut down a case quickly before it ever happened. For example, Rambo vs. Rambo, now that's a long hard case against brothers. However, that case was shut down rather quickly after Arthur Rambo died."
Buster perked his ears up to listen with widened blue eyes. "Wait, wait, there's a court case?"
"Yeah, it happened fifteen years ago," Dexter answered without even considering why Buster was asking this. "After his fifteen-year-old child was...assaulted in the nightclub by three random animals, Arthur Rambo went and sued Roy since Roy owned that nightclub and he let a minor strip in front of older adults. However, the court ended up arresting the animals accused of the crime and placed them in the slammer. The case was closed instantly after Arthur Rambo died. Now, Roy's running underground places were...well, disgusting things happen."
Buster dropped his ears down and lowered his head, wrapping his head around the answer Dexter gave. The koala tried to pull himself together while attempting to block the memories coming towards him.
Dexter noticed Buster gazing down on the ground. "Uh...is he okay?"
The theater group immediately turned while seeing Buster trying to hold in the tears.
"Buster?" Eddie called his best friend's name.
Buster glanced up at everyone, who softly threw gazes at the koala showman.
There's a tender pause while the marsupial sighed heavily.
"I'm--I'm sorry, guys," Buster uttered sadly.
"For...what?" Mizuki questioned.
Buster sighed heavily while the tears made his blue eyes sparkle. "For putting you guys through this. I-I thought I was protecting you from Roy. But I didn't know that it's going to...go this far. I didn't mean to get you guys to involve in this. I didn't mean to hurt you. I--I thought that it's safer for everyone if you guys don't know what's going on. For fifteen years, I've been running from my past...changing it in the hopes that it will wash away as if it never happened. But no matter what I do, no matter how fast I run, I could never escape the past. And I'm sorry that I shut you guys away. You wanted to help me and I wouldn't let you. And I thought it's safer that way."
"And...now?" Eddie probed gently.
"You guys are bound to find out eventually. I'm surprised you guys didn't leave me despite finding out," Buster answered while wiping the tears away.
"You're our friend, Moonster," Mike replied softly. "You stick up for me when no one else would when we first met. As I said before, you're one of the few people I like and highly respect. I don't know about the others but, to me, you matter."
Everyone was shocked that Mike would say those words out of all the words he could say to mask his emotions.
Johnny smiled and nodded his head in agreement. "You gave me a chance to reconnect with my Mom after all of these years of being in the gang. Even when she's not here, I know that she's here because you helped me reconnect with her."
Ash looked at Buster with her arms crossed. "You know, for a while, I didn't know why you chose me out of Lance and me. When he cheated on me with this other girl, I found out why and...if I hadn't been in the talent show, I wouldn't have known about the way Lance was treating me compared to how you guys treated me."
Rosita smiled softly at the koala with her hand on his shoulder. "You helped watch over my kids when you didn't have to. That means a lot to me as a single mother. And you offered to give me a raise. That was the nicest thing I've had someone do for me, let alone a boss to help me out."
Meena hid in her ears for a moment until her head emerged from the folds of her huge ears with a small grin. "I'm still afraid of the stage and performing in general but now I-I want to try to perform in front of people. You gave me the motivation to face my fears. And I want to thank you for including me."
Nancy stepped in with a cute smile. "I feel more included now than I have before I first jump into the auditions."
Gunter nodded his head in agreement. "Ya, you treat us like family, Mr. Moon!"
Everyone grinned brightly while nodding their heads.
Buster frowned still. "Despite knowing that I murdered my own father--"
"What are you talking about? You didn't murder your dad," Eddie responded before Buster could go further.
"You don't have to say that, Eddie," Buster uttered sadly.
"No, you literally didn't kill him, Mr. Moon," Johnny emphasized Eddie's words.
"But, I--"
"You never touched him, Mr. Moon," Ms. Crawly confessed. "I was there when it happened. You never pushed him into the streets, Mr. Moon. Roy threw him into the streets before you could even touch him."
Dexter took a moment to look at Buster and gasped. "Wait a minute, you're the lost son of Arthur Rambo!"
"Shh, Dad, not now," Johnny shushed his father gently.
Dexter immediately caught on to what's going on. "Oh, uh, sorry. And truth be told, I read the article where the police actually found fingerprints on your father's fur and it turned out to be Roy's fingerprints. There were no fingerprints or paw prints that belonged to you."
Everyone turned to Dexter with widened eyes in shock.
"What? You research other gang members before you could ever trust them. That's the whole thing of being in a gang. Roy Rambo was one of the most elite gang leaders in the city of Catalonia with secret underground businesses that were made to entertain the wrong kind of people," Dexter pointed out.
Buster took a moment to ponder about what happened as a flash of memory finally appeared in his brain.
Flashback:
"I don't want to talk to you!!!"
Buster was only fifteen years old when he was gripping on the bucket, completely clothed while his father stood there in front of him, arguing with Roy.
"Dad?" Buster called meekly.
"Go find Ms. Crawly, Daniel," his father demanded his son gently.
Buster blinked while Roy turned to gaze at him. The young teenage koala stepped back while heading towards the house, his ear twitched back to listen further into the conversation.
"You have some nerve to show up here! You sickened me, Roy," his father growled at his uncle. "First, you hired my son as a stripper at a young age and now you let him be sexually assaulted by three drunk animals. He's too young for this kind of job!"
"Look, Arthur, calm down. I know this looks bad--"
"It is bad, Roy! My own son is not an object you could just display in one of your little nightclubs," his father, Arthur, shouted at Roy.
"Didn't I help you catch those three drunk animals? Apparently, you forgot that so quickly--"
"You didn't help. I caught them and called the police on them! You just went along for the ride like you've always done," Arthur snarled. "But when I sued you for hiring a minor, your snarky attitude completely changed."
Buster turned back to see the adult koalas getting closer, with the angry tension rising.
"Look, you're overreacting--"
Arthur narrowed his glare at Roy. "I have every right to overreact! You put my son through trauma without me knowing it. You told him not to tell me anything so that you couldn't get in trouble."
"Okay, I was going to offer you a deal but I see that you're not going to listen to anything I say."
"My son is not an object. I've kept quiet about your little underground entertainment for far too long. Maybe it's about time I bring this up in court--"
Roy rolled his blue eyes. "Really? You're not going to listen to me. I've tried to make a deal with you about helping you with your medical insurance since you couldn't keep up and your wife died because of you."
"Don't you dare bring her up."
"Arthur, if you've listened to me, your wife would've lived. Your son will actually have a mother. But no, you decided not to listen to me and kept working your tail off. If you drop this case, there's money waiting! You and your son will live in a lap of luxury. I'm going to need your son a little bit more--"
"No!"
"Arthur, this will make us rich--"
"Us rich?! This deal is only balancing your needs. I'm not sacrificing my son so that you could live a better life!"
Buster slowly made his way back, ready to jump into action if needed to be.
Roy sighed heavily. "I'm sorry but your son is a mistake."
Arthur hardened his glare more. "He's never a mistake! What are you talking about?"
Buster watched with tears in his eyes, taking it to heart of what his uncle said.
"Arthur, we have a customer waiting."
Teenage Buster turned to see Ms. Crawly pointing at the approaching car parking on the curb a few blocks ahead.
"Get started on it, Karen. I'll catch up with you."
Ms. Crawly frowned while nodding her head and ambled her way towards the car that was parked a few blocks away.
The teenage koala focused back to notice Arthur acknowledging Buster's presence when he talked to Ms. Crawly.
"Go help Ms. Crawly get started on the wash. I'll be there," his father, Arthur, reassured Buster.
Buster nodded his head in obedience but he didn't move when his father shifted his attention back to Roy.
"You need to leave. I'll see you in court," Arthur growled.
Roy tilted his head with a dark chuckle. "Is that how we're going to end this?"
Buster thought they were done talking...but if there was such a thing as time-traveling, his future self would say otherwise.
Arthur gritted his teeth and it morphed into a growl. "That's exactly how we're going to end it."
"Arthur--" Roy reached for Arthur's shoulder, earning a slap of resistance from his brother.
"Don't touch me--"
Roy gripped on his fur in a sudden action, earning a gasp from the teenage koala.
Buster ran to break up the upcoming brawl...however, when Buster reached his hands out for his father, his father was shoved into the streets in the instant action but he didn't feel his father's fur.
The young teenager's eyes went wide in horror as his father stumbled into the middle of the street. The diesel truck charged down the street with a warning honk before running over his father in one swift motion.
Buster gasped heavily as the diesel truck passed by him and stopped his vehicle. The young koala looked around to see some pedestrians watching it with pure horror as his father's mangled body was lying in the streets.
"What have you done, kid?"
Buster glanced at his hands with heavy breaths. "I-I didn't mean it! I-I didn't mean it!"
Buster sobbed from the curb as he felt a hand pulling him up on his feet.
"We have to go before the police arrive," Roy replied and guided Buster away from the crime scene.
Present:
Buster breathed heavily, his tears streaming down his cheeks. A dark realization came to him in his bothered mind. He...He didn't remember touching his father's fur. He didn't even remember being near enough to push him. He remembered Roy holding his father though. Roy tossed his own father into the streets, Buster never pushed him.
Realizing this now, Buster's body began to tremble as the tears finally broke free. Normally, Buster wouldn't cry so much and he's able to hold it in but this time...he couldn't. There's no way he could.
"I-I didn't kill him," Buster finally said after a pause.
The theater group perked their heads up and watched Buster coming undone.
"I--I didn't kill him...all of those years of pain and torment is for something I didn't even do. All of that time that I thought I murdered him, I-I never did it. It was Roy...It was Roy all along."
Buster felt conflicted on either if he should be relieved that he found out that he didn't kill his father or he should be vengeful and go after Roy for what he did. The koala was torn between two emotions. Mizuki observed him as she went up to him and hugged him.
"It's okay, Buster. It's okay. You know now," Mizuki said softly into his ear.
Buster smiled and hugged the antelope tightly, never wanting to let go. The other theater members joined and embraced the koala showman, widening Buster's smile. They shared a moment of warmth and love towards each other as they broke away from each other.
The koala showman frowned sadly when he thought about what happened in the warehouse. "The theater...it's...it's destroyed. And Roy wants it so that he could run his business through the theater. He was going to make me in charge of it but I had to do as he said. I didn't get a chance to accept or refuse his offer. I would still take charge of the theater but it will be under his name."
"Oh no," Dexter gasped in shock.
Johnny shook his head. "We can't hand over the theater to him."
"We have to fight for it!" Ash determined.
Everyone nodded their heads in agreement and determination.
"Yeah! It's not just the theater. It's our home!" Mike pointed out.
"But how are we going to buy it back? What are we going to do?" Ms. Crawly asked the group.
Buster pondered deeply with a sigh. "I think I know someone from the bank who can help us."
