"Hello?"

"Hey, Cole. Happy new year!"

"Hi, Charlie. Happy 2018 to you!"

"I've got some news, but I wanted to share it with you before I told anyone else."

"Now you've got me interested."

"You know that I've been dating someone for a while."

"And you refuse to tell me her name, yeah."

"Well, that's what I called to tell you about. I'm actually... sort of dating Ruby Parkinson?"

"You're kidding!"

"Nope. We've been keeping things a secret for about six months. But, that's not all. See Ruby is... kinda pregnant."

"Pregnant?"

"Yeah. It was a complete surprise and we definitely weren't planning it, but we think we're going to keep it. You know I've always wanted to be a dad."

"You already are a dad, Charlie. You know that."

"I know. I'm always going to be grateful to be Taylor's dad. I just wanted to call and tell you. I'm weirdly excited."

"I'm happy if you're happy, Charlie."

"Then why do you sound sad?"

"It's New Year's and I'm hungover. Don't worry about it, Charlie. I'm seriously so excited for you."

"Thanks, Cole. I'm gonna go. Ruby and I have an appointment. She's about a month and a half along. Apparently our baby is the size of a raspberry."

"Have fun at the appointment, Charlie."

"Thanks, Cole. I'll talk to you later. Don't be sad, okay?"

"I'm not sad."

"Yeah, you are. It's okay. I'm here if you need to talk."
