my apple music replay 2023

hello hello! welcome to my apple music replay 2023 where i will get exposed for my terrible taste in music. (if you need to know anything about my music taste (& mental stability i guess) is it that i had a two year streak with ending by isak danielson and i would have gotten 3 if apple music didn't fuck me over last year).

i saw stilestastic do this this year (and last year and the year before) in her misc book and i thought it was a fun idea so i'm doing it.

also apple music's recap doesn't look like this i just wanted to make different graphics for fun.

i think the minutes thing is broken because last year i had around 125 000 and i feel i listened to more music this year. (i checked last year and now it says it was 16 318 so idk what happened. the 125 000 was probably wrong).

1, lewis capaldi — i was expecting it. before he released his album i had some of his most popular songs in my library but after hearing the album (which is banger after banger) i was like i need more. all of his songs are so good.

2, isak danielson — i am surprised by this. i thought he would be third or fourth because i think i haven't listened to him as much this year (last year it was 3192 minutes).

3, olivia rodrigo — i was expecting her to be first or second. but still it's fine i love her so much!!

4, jen z — i am surprised she is this high but i'm really happy about it!! i have 8 of her songs so idk how i listened to 507 minutes. (it was probably because i played how to love (acoustic) like 10 times the day it got out). she's a youtuber btw (jenerationdiy) and i love her videos!!

5, gustavo santaoalla — 380 minutes of the last of us (mainly part ii) soundtracks... i am so normal about this show/video game i swear... the show's theme song is a no skip every time it's on i shake ass (ur internet mom ash style (in her tlou reactions)).

1, vampire — was expecting it to be in the top 5 at least but it's first and deserves it. so funny story about this : the day it got released i must have played it like 15 times minimum and i was singing screaming the entire thing. then later that day i was watching a video on youtube when i got an ad for a singing lesson app and i didn't think much of it but then i got the same ad and i was like okay i know i sing badly no need to tell me google.

2, beyond desolation — this is the last song in part ii (i haven't played the game but i watched a stream) and it's just the feeling i can't describe it. like beyond desolation is the perfect title. i am not mentally prepared for whenever the tv show will adapt this part. i will be a mess calling in sick to work to cry all day.

3, burning (orchestral) — this song THIS SONG. i love it amazing show stopping spectacular. i am a hoe for acoustic versions and like this one is just everything.

4, no return (extended version) — this is the into song of yellowjackets (that show is so good btw please watch it). it would probably be number 1 because the alanis morissette cover is #18 and i alternated between the two. i just love this song because it reminds me of yellowjackets (i miss it so much season 3 can't come soon enough) and because whenever i listen to it i feel like i could beat up a man. (my two genres of songs are : to scream in the car to and could beat a man to)

5, if you ever forget that you love me — i love this song!! catch me badly singing it in my car. i would learn guitar just so i could play this.

idk how they calculated this because i didn't listen to guts 184 times (it's probably all the songs together).

1, guts — this album is amazing olivia rodrigo outdid herself. (my favourite song from it is the grudge or ballad of a homeschooled girl)

2, the last of us part ii (original soundtrack) — i told you i am sooo normal about this. this game is a masterpiece (i say as someone who hasn't played it herself but still) and the soundtrack is also a masterpiece like if i'm making gifs and i don't feel like watching a youtube video i will listen to this.

3, broken by desire to be heavenly sent — in my heart it's number one. there is simply not a skip on this album like where is lewis capaldi's grammy??

4, blood hive (original score from the showtime series yellowjackets) — i listened to the whole album once so it's this high simply because of no return. but the soundtrack is really good. it's really haunting and i love the vocals.

5, inside (deluxe) — problematic, welcome to the internet, and 1985 carried this here. idk how it got this high but i warned everyone. (it's #26)

pop — makes sense

alternative — my initial thought were "it's probably because of no return" but it's not even in this category but lewis capaldi is??

soundtrack — tlou part ii and blood hive (yellowjackets) got this here

vocal — what does this mean?? (i checked and there's 2 isak danielson's albums there)

singer/songwriter — what does this mean how is this a genre?? (i have 8 songs in this genre and i don't listen to any of them this much idk how it got here)

a couple months ago on tumblr i reblogged a post with a website which judges your music taste and thought it would be a funny thing to include here (i will post the link in the comments). i redid it today and got absolutely rip to shreds by this ai.

— first of all i don't even have tiktok and i have never step foot in a rite-aid. so shove this analysis up your ai ass
— second of all why tf is taylor swift here i have 4 songs by her a literally never listen to them.
— and third of all "nightmare to karaoke with" excuse me?? you can't even sing stupid ai

as you can see this did not affect me at all...

also i would like to share with everyone my new favourite song i discovered yesterday : killing me by conan grey. (he's my top 6 artist for this year, but with how much i've listened to killing me i think he will update to 5th sunday).

my top 4 songs and albums are the exact same and i find it really funny. also apple gives the top 15 but i didn't want to bore everyone so i just gave my top 5.
