Marlene Mckinnon walked through the barrier and onto Platform 9 3/4, her heart threatening to burst with happiness as she spotted James Potter talking to her very best friend Lily Evans. It was their sixth year, and she had been trying to get those two to date since year one, so to see them together having a civil conversation, made her so excited, she thought she might die. She beamed at them like a proud mother and started to walk over, ready to make a joke about their "relationship." But just as she was meer steps away from them, somebody tugged on her arm, hard.

"Hey!" Marlene snapped as she was pulled away from the two lovebirds. She immediately looked over to see who had interfered with her and her teasing, a sour look on her face.

"Oh shut up and let them enjoy their time together!" The boy snapped back at her, coming to a stop, once they were, what he considered, far enough away from Lily and James.

Marlene's eyes were already wide in surprise when her eyes landed on the culprit. There was no mistaking that voice or face. "Sirius?" She asked, definitely not having expected the boy to so openly interfere over what she liked to call a ground breaking conversation.

"The one and only." Sirius Black said, flashing Marlene his sexy boyish grin that made all the girls in their year swoon.

It didn't work on Mar though. While she would admit Sirius was incredibly good looking, he was not her type. Definitely not. "You idiot. You ruined my good fun! I wanted to tease them a little." She scoffed lightly, not only at the fact that he had ruined her fun, but also at the fact that he was still grinning that same grin, that, even though she didn't like him, still made her heart skip a couple beats.

Sirius rolled his eyes at her, "Well that sucks then, but I'm not about to let you go ruin my ship." He said defiantly, making a point not to let go of her hand.

"Your ship?!" Marlene asked, her voice going unnecessarily high pitched as she spoke. "I've been shipping this since first year! It's my ship!"

"No! I've been shipping them since first year! It's my ship!" Sirius immediately answered, "Besides I'm James' best friend!"

"Well I'm Lily's!" Marlene exclaimed, with a huff. Why'd he have to be annoying? She had been voting for Jily since year one? What was he even talking about? "So it's my ship!"

"Actually." A female voice suddenly popped in, the owner of it grabbing onto Marlene's free hand. "I think I'm in the ship so it should be my ship or maybe James', not either of you two people who clearly don't have a life."

Marlene looked over at the girl holding onto her other hand. Of course it was lily jumping in with some witty comments that put an end to Sirius' and Marlene's argument.

"Now, I appreciate you keeping an eye on my wild friend here Sirius, but I'd appreciate if you'd take your hand off of her." She said simply, though her voice was lined with venom. She was not about to let the gryffindor playboy have some fun with her bestie. She wasn't just about to let her friend be used that way.

After Sirius had let go of her hand, Marlene gave Sirius a small fleeting wave, before turning back to Lily. "So what happened with James?" She asked excitedly, as Lily let go of her other hand.

"Where's your trunk Mar?" Lily asked Marlene, blatantly ignoring the girl's question. Her question was fairly dumb, seeing as Marlene's trunk like Lily's own, was in her hand. She just wanted Marlene to shut up, which was rather impossible seeing as she was Marlene.

Now if there was one thing Marlene hated, it was being ignored. She was a fairly loud girl who loved to talk so it made sense really that she didn't like to be ignored. She came to a halt, placing her hands on her hips. "Answer my question Lily." She said firmly, a hint of excitement still in her voice.

"You're not my mother Marlene." Lily replied back in a firm tone, as she continued walking ahead. She knew she would follow her. Mar maybe hated being ignored above all things, but she also had a large hate for being alone. "Can't you just drop it Mar?" She asked in a an exasperated tone.

Marlene rolled her eyes, skipping back up to her friend, easily reaching her. "Nope!" She said popping the 'p' in the word nope with a large smile, as she stepped onto the train ahead of Lily, dragging her trunk with her.

Lily rolled her eyes, as she followed her up and onto the Hogwarts Express. "You're such a..." She huffed, not finishing her sentence. "Look, you were talking with Sirius and you're not dating." So when I talk to James it doesn't automatically mean I'm dating him! Does it? I mean, am I giving him false hope? He's an arrogant git, but I don't want to be mean."

Marlene snorted at that. "You just called him a arrogant git Lily, good luck being nice."

"An. An arrogant git." The redhead automatically corrected her friend, earning an eye roll in return, as they trudged through the hallway of the train passing compartment after compartment. A frown suddenly slid onto her face and she peered at the back of Marlene's head curiously, wishing she could see her face, to see if her face would give off any clue of where they were sitting. "Marlene?" She asked suddenly, her voice hinted with curiousness.

"Yes Lil?" Marlene asked as she came to a halt in front of a compartment and started to put her trunk up in the storage outside of the compartment.

"Where ar...." The girl trailed off as her eyes landed on the boy's already sitting in the compartment. Remus Lupin and Peter Pettrigrew, that meant Sirius and James were next to come. "Marlene!" She snapped at the girl as the blonde threw open the compartment doors.

"Hello boys." Marlene said leaning against the wall. "Mind if Lil and I sit here? James and her are dating now. And Sirius and I have an argument to continue."

Peter stared at Marlene wordlessly, before looking behind her to see a very unhappy Lily. He patted the seat beside him, but Marlene didn't notice and took the seat beside Remus, kicking her feet up on the remaining seat beside her. "Sorry Lils. This seat is taken, you're gonna have to sit by Peter."

Peter moved his hand hearing this, giving Lily a warm smile. "It's good to see you Lily!" He said cheerfully, but Lily ignored him, making sure he got the point that it wasn't good. Nothing was good at the moment.

Marlene nudged Remus in the side playfully but he didn't even look up from his book. The playful grin dropped from Mar's face, and she crossed her arms. "People these days..." She muttered under her breath in annoyance. All she wanted to do was have some fun and now Remus was ignoring her, Lily was mad at her for sitting in that compartment, and Lily was mad that she was sitting next to Peter and now most likely James.

But when the door suddenly slid open to the compartment, and in walked Sirius and James, Marlene realized it would all be fine. Maybe Lily would kill her but at least she had someone backing her up. And right then, Sirius Black and her made a silent agreement to make their best friends end up together. Just like that, a friendship formed. And it all started off with a simple high five, then the boy sitting down on Marlene's legs.
