chapter eight, the breakup!

PAISLEY WAS IN RABBI REBECCA'S CLASS as the woman and Cantor Jerry were singing a song. She was currently wearing a yellow graphic tee, a short dark blue skirt, and blue and white Adidas. Hearing a notification from her phone, she took it out quickly, getting a text from Andy.

The girl furrowed her eyebrows, making eye contact with the boy. Class eventually ended as Paisley grabbed her things and headed outside. She made her way to the closet, shutting the door behind her. Andy looked nervous, looking at her. "What do you want to talk to me about?"

"Well... you know when I asked you for advice the other day?"

"Yeah.  Why?"  Andy gulped, trying to meet her eyes.  "I took the advice."

"What do you mean by that?"  Andy took a deep breath. "I broke up with Lydia."

"What? Why would you do that?"

"Because I told her that I like someone else.  Plus, she doesn't like me in that way."  Paisley stared at him, furrowing her eyebrows.  "Why didn't you tell her sooner?"

"I thought I liked her but I realized that I have feelings for someone I've liked for a long time.  Plus, I thought that being with her would make the crush go away."

"Okay, first of all, that's an unhealthy coping mechanism.  And second, who do you have a crush on?"  Andy's cheeks turned a bit pink. "Well, I-".  A loud knock on the door was heard, causing the two of them to fall silent.  "Can you get out of there? We want to use it!"

"If we get out, people will think that we kissed." Paisley whispered, causing Andy to smirk.  "I mean, that doesn't sound too bad."  Paisley felt her cheeks warm up as she rolled her eyes.  "You aren't helping, you know that?"

"It was just a thought." Andy stated, raising his hands.  "Sure it was."  The two opened the door and lucky for them, the hallway was empty.  "I think everyone's in the yard right now.  We can continue talking outside." 

PAISLEY GENTLY GRABBED his hand, leading him to a table in front of the school.  The duo sat down as she let go of his hand.

"So what were you saying earlier?"

"Well, I have a crush on someone who's very close with me."

"Who is then?"

"I can't tell you."

"Why? Andy, I'm not going to judge you for who you like." The boy smirked, looking at her. "Why do you want to know who I like, Lili? Do you have a crush on someone?"

Paisley smiled. "I do."

"Who?"

"You, actually. I've felt this way for some time now but I felt really weird about it because you were with Lydia and I didn't want to mess things up with you guys. I like you because you're really cute, sweet, and kind. If you don't feel the same way, it's fine. I mean, why would you like me?" Andy's cheeks turned pink again as he looked at her. "I do like you, actually. I've liked you for a while now. Lili, you weren't going to mess things up with me and Lydia. We weren't going to work out anyways and plus, I think she likes Lucas. I like you because you're really smart and really pretty and really nice. I only like you, Paisley."

Paisley smiled. "And I only like you, Andy."

"So... does this mean that we can start dating?"

"Not yet. I mean, you just broke up with Lydia and I don't want people to think I had something to do with it." Andy smiled. "Well, when you're ready to, I'll be waiting." The bell rang, signaling them to return back to class. As the two headed inside, Andy felt relieved. I mean, he didn't get the girl yet but he was still happy that she felt the same way.

Hi guys!! I FINALLY updated this book!! Sorry it took so long!! But Andy and Paisley confessed!! Honestly, dating someone right after breaking up in middle school was kind of the norm (idk if it still is) but I didn't want to rush it so I left it at that 💀
