CAITLYN MONTEZ has lived in Gravesend, Brooklyn for as long as she could remember. Her family never traveled–she's never even seen all of New York. It was always too expensive for her dad, who had to work three jobs just to keep a roof over his and his daughters head.

So as soon as she was old enough, Caitlyn started to work to help her dad with bills. She got a job doing deliveries with her best friend, CJ, at his family restaurant so she wasn't complaining and on the side, Caitlyn was an "unofficial and also unpaid assistant" to Anthony Brewer, a man who lived a few doors down. Caitlyn used to be friends with his kids, Cece and Devin, but when they moved away after their parents divorce, Caitlyn just lost touch with them.

Caitlyn didn't think much about her hometown. No one new ever showed up and the only people she remembers ever moving out of the town was Cece and Devin.

She used to be tied to the twins hip, no matter what, you could always find Caitlyn hanging out with at least one of the Brewer twins. It's how she got her unofficial assistant job in the first place; she hardly left the Brewer home and constantly heard Anthony Brewers botany jokes until she actually started to like them.

Caitlyn didn't have much in common with Cece considering the girl aced everything handed to her without breaking a sweat and Caitlyn, no matter how hard she studied, barely could get herself a C, so when middle school hit, she mostly started to hang out with Devin.

And when the twins left Gravesend, Caitlyn started to open herself up to more people. She met CJ and started to work with his family and over time, CJ introduced Caitlyn to his friend group; Frankie, Trey, and Alex, who Caitlyn did all know from school but never really talked to.

But now, Devin and Cece come back to Gravesend one summer and suddenly, Caitlyn's now stuck spending her free time helping Devin Brewer figure out what the hell happened to him at the Camp Nightmare.
