Chapter 15 ~ Earth

Your POV

Bright lights shining in all the different colours illuminated the white, soft sand. Music was beating in the air, adding to the high level of emotions. The sound of waves crashing was merely a background noise now. Wind blew around us, sending a shiver down my spine. I quivered slightly and wrapped my arms around me. I wish I hadn't worn this dress.

The salty scent of the sea tinged with hot chips filled the air, seagulls chirping in it as the day came to an end. The sunset was simply beautiful. Light and warm colours alike lit up the sky, soft gradients here and there. The golden circle that emitted light was slowly fading away, bringing a new starry sky into view.

'Alright,' Jordan stopped the engine of the convertible. He turned sideways towards Blair before kissing her. I silently grumbled and slid down in my leather back seat. 'We're here.'

A red carpet at been rolled out for us, probably for Blair and Jordan. They picked up their bags before smiling each other and giddily walking down. Rolling my eyes, I picked up my purse and stumbled my way towards the party, where two bodyguards were waiting.

'Sorry, sir,' I gasped as I tripped into one of them. Correcting myself,  I desperately wished Mother hadn't been so set on me wearing heels. The guard grunted in response.

'Name?'

'(y/n) (l/n),' I managed to stand upright. The guard trailed his finger down the list of names until he reached mine. He grunted again, the smell of cigarette clouding my nostrils for a moment. Finally, he stepped sideways, revealing a small, intricate golden gate. Pushing the gate open with his huge, meaty hand, he looked up at me.

'Welcome, (y/n) (l/n),' he began impassively as the music increased loudly. 'To Ashley Holdfar's sixteenth birthday.'

--------------------

I watched in disbelief as the scene rolled out. To my left side, a stage featuring Blair and shining colours was placed in front of palm trees. She was currently singing a duet with Jordan, something that attracted many couples.

To my right a lengthy, white-clothed table stood, piles of food and gallons of drinks all shared upon it. And in front of me, a large disco floor was placed with a stripping pole in the middle and numerous teenage girls and grown men hanging around.

Note; avoid that disco floor at all cost, I thought. What kind of twisted party was this? We weren't even eighteen. I wasn't even sure that Ashley even knew some of these people that looked like drug addicts. If my mum knew what Ashley Holdfar's parties were like, she would have Ashley's parents fired immediately.

The thought tempted me, but a way older guy "accidently" bumping into me freaked me out. I gritted my teeth and went over to the sides and promptly sat on one of the white chairs. I shouldn't have worn this revealing dress. It was the one Chanel, Harper and Ashley that had quickly sold it to me at Supre. It was super short and tight, only falling to just below my butt.

It was sleeveless, the cut revealing some of my upper breasts. It sparkled spectacularly, gathering the attention of many strangers. And it didn't help that people were throwing weird looks at me. I had a feeling Mother only let me wear this because I had thrown an over-sized hoodie over it and she was busy on the phone.

'Hey, hun,' said a familiar voice. Chanel walked into view, her white, short, Greek-style dress billowing out behind her in the wind. looking as confident and rich as ever. Golden hoops dangled from her ears, her dark hair tumbling down in elegant braids and curls.

Golden bracelets and a Prada purse adorned her tan, fragile arms which were on her hip. Her forest eyes glanced up and down at me, clearly evaluating my outfit. But it was okay. I was used to it. A smirk graced her lips, but disappeared as fast as lightning.

However, I had seen the look she gave me. She was up to something. But her face contorted into amusement when she saw my heels. 'Nice heels, I mean it. But didn't Ash tell you this was a no-shoe party? I'm sure it was on the invite.'

Maybe that was why I was getting weird looks.

'Must've missed it,' I mumbled, leaning down to take them off as Chanel joined me.

'But I see you wore the dress from Supre?' Chanel smiled, giving me a weird snake vibe. 'Harp told me you needed fashion advice for the party so she suggested to wear this number. I must say, you look absolutely sexy. If I wasn't straight, I would take you right here, right now.'

'Um...thank you?' I responded, unsure whether I should be concerned about my best friend. 'And yeah, I did ask for help from Harper.'

Silence filled the conversation for a few moments. After a lengthy silence, Chanel suddenly giggled and nudged me playfully. 'Look, (y/n)! Your boy, the boy with dreamy eyes is here.'

My heart plummeted down from my chest, from either nerves or love or uncomfortableness, I wasn't sure. But sure enough, a certain Amare boy wearing pressed pants and...no shirt had showed up.

My jaw dropped as he winked towards me and started walking, his abs gleaming and showed off to everyone. A couple of girls squealed not-so-softly and pointed in his direction, but frankly, I didn't care.

'I'll leave you two to it,' winked Chanel, standing up as Jack neared us. 'Don't mess up, hun.'

As Jack came closer, I saw that he was wearing no glasses. This made the colours seem so much brighter and dazzling, standing out from all of the usual brown, black or blue eyes. The salty wind tangled with his hair, whipping it gently to one side swiftly.

Even though he was half-naked, I could tell he was used to this and simply didn't care about the coldness or about the amount of stares he was getting from all the girls.

'Hey Chanel,' he greeted, kissing her cheek in a friendly manner. She giggled, fluttering her eyelashes as she waved and scurried off. His sea-ocean eyes turned to me, his golden flecks particularly standing out. He leaned over and sealed his lips with mine quickly before taking a seat.

'Nice dress,' he grinned, his eyes scampering across my body. I rolled my eyes in exasperation.

'Don't.'

Before he could reply, a familiar nuisance walked towards us, her icy blue eyes glittering with resentment. Her pale hands were on her hips, swaying back and forth, expensive bracelets jingling. I recognized her glimmering silver dress as the one from Topshop, the one basically everyone had been obsessing over.

'Hey, bitches,' smiled Ashley smugly, placing herself right in front of us. Her eyes lingered on my dress, reflecting disgust. 'Ew, that dress is what a slut would wear.'

'But you-'

'OMG!' Ashley cried out loudly. Eyes instantly went to the birthday girl, and people started coming over, stranger or not. A small smirk landed on her lips triumphantly. I couldn't believe this. She was the one who forced me to buy this. 'Look at this dress!'

Disgusted mutters rippled across the gathering crowd that was slowly multiplying still. From each side of Ashley, Harper and Chanel suddenly rose out from the crowd, each of their dresses and flawless beauty grabbing attention.

The smirk Ashley was wearing was mirroring on Harper and Chanel. I don't know where my actual friends were, but it was clear they weren't here, especially Layla who was fidgeting with her dress behind Ashley.Even Jack had stood up to join the crowd against me. Something told me he would still pick his precious "Ash" over me any day. Waves of betrayal overwhelmed me, enveloping me in their vicious hold. Whatever.

'Ew,' proclaimed Harper in pure horror. I didn't get it. She was the one who told me to wear it. Betrayal begun to fill my mind. I could feel the hot water beginning to burn in my eye, blurring my vision slightly. I tried to blink it back, but with no success. 'Why the fuck did you wear this, (y/n).'

'I know right,' Chanel rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. I felt as if I had been stabbed in the back. She was supposed to be my best friend. Everything was so confusing, but everything seemed to become clear at the same time. Chanel had plotted behind my back with Harper and Ashley to practically destroy me. That's what that smirk had meant. 'You're such a slutty hoe.'

The whispers escalated, even though all of the guests here were actual sluts and hoes, some even wearing more revealing dresses than me. I cast my eyes around for the bright flash of pink, but Blair wasn't anywhere.

Probably somewhere with Jordan. But the celebrity singer was silently watching the scene unfold, leaning on the trees. I looked at him pleadingly, but he just stared coldly back. I could feel my windpipe closing in and out, oxygen beginning to be difficult to swallow, as if someone was suffocating me. My chest heaved in an out and I struggled to breathe. But nobody seemed to care that I was having an anxiety attack.

Nobody cared.

The taunts just seemed to increase in volume, until it seemed like the whole world was against me. I clenched my fists, biting my tongue in an effort not to cry. But I couldn't handle all the noise directed at me, suffocating me.

'STOP!' I screamed at everyone, rage thundering in me. I directed my poisonous gaze towards Ashley, Harper and especially Chanel and Layla. It wasn't Ashley who had hurt me the most. It was those two. 'Why can't you just leave me alone?'

I turned on my heel and ran.

I didn't know where I was going. I just wanted to get away from the crowd, escaping from their clutches. As I ran along Marley the cold wind blew against my face as they stained the tears that begun streaming down. The night was cloudless and beautiful, but I didn't stop to admire the stars. All I could process was what just happened, yet I was still in complete shock. But Hannah had warned me about this. I was just too afraid of the truth.

Eventually I stopped. I found a large, smooth rock nestled in among the trees that overlooked the water. Curling into a ball on the rock, I let the tears drip down as I watched the water. It was peaceful and serene, only one ripple disturbing it, probably from the party.

They all had probably gone back to partying without even caring about me. Heck, even my sister didn't care. A fat tear rolled down my cheek.

'Hey, (y/n),' a warm voice softly mumbled. 'You ok?'

I barely moved when Jordan slid in next to me. I kept my gaze on the deep water. 'No, I'm not.'

'Look, I don't know what happened there,' Jordan began. 'But it's obvious those three were plotting against you. I know you, and you're not a slut or a hoe.'

'I know,' I sobbed quietly. 'It's just...my best friends betrayed me for my bully, as well as my date to the social. My sister isn't even here to comfort me. Father is on the other side of the world, in Russia. Mother is dealing with the whole CSIRO company stuff. I just feel so...alone.'

'You have me, (y/n),' Jordan said softly. 'And trust me, that's not gonna change.'

And with that, his lips met mine.
