Chapter 10: Pinky Truce
"The healthy man does not torture others - generally it is the tortured who turn into torturers."
-Carl Jung
I stormed into the library.
Miss Annie paled as soon as she saw me.
"W-what brings you b-by Miss Hale?" she asked.
I stopped and looked at her. She was wearing a lovely lavender dress, her hair curled and adorned with a lavender flower crown. She gave off an aura of peace.
Ethereal... the only word I could describe her with at the moment.
But now wasn't the time to be stuck in admiration.
I needed to get Refael to stop being nice to me.
So with a nod of acknowledgment, I grabbed a book and retreated to the furthest corner in the library.

I couldn't even concentrate enough to read.
Refael's words were stuck in my head like a cruel loop.
"I will still break you..."
I scoffed.
Whatever.
He can't.
Then I remembered how close he was to creating a revolution in my playground.
I put my hands on my head in frustration as I also remembered.
He kissed me.
It shouldn't be a big deal. It wasn't even an open-mouthed kiss. I've kissed girls who could kiss better than him.
But he's the only guy to actually kiss me.
Are you seriously thinking about that?
I groaned.
I was.
"Oh, I have. I've changed tactics."
What could he have possibly meant by- oh?
Ohhhhhhhhhh.
That bastard.
Was he seriously going to break me in that manner?
I shook my head.
The idiot.
Of course, he would, he's a simple-minded man. Whenever they feel threatened by a woman they'll resort to such cheap back-handed tactics.
Weak.
Now that I'm certain of what he's trying to do there's only one thing I can do.
And that would be to get him on my side.
He thinks he'll succeed because of my reactions.
I chuckled darkly.
Just you wait, Refael Koch.

I marched into his class, not caring that he was in the middle of a lecture.
Ms. Smith looked like she wanted to say something but as soon as I gave her a look, she shut up immediately.
Ignoring the confused gazes of the business students (understandable since they naturally avoid me, therefore, avoiding trouble), I turned to the subject of my unwanted attention.
"Octy, I have a class," he said, giving me a flustered smile.
Ugh, I can't believe I'm about to say this.
"Raffy, I can't wait till then," I said sighing, "I need to talk to you now. Please?"
Everyone in the class looked like they wanted to throw up.
Me too guys, me too.
"But Octy..." sighed the bastard.
"Please Raffy, please?" I fake pleaded.
He sighed.
"Alright."
Holding his hand, we walked out of the class and out of the school.
*************************************
"I didn't think you were that kind of girl Octy," commented the fool.
We were seated in my car. Since we couldn't leave the compound without raising a commotion, I decided to settle things here and now. I even locked the car doors and was currently smoking a joint.
"Cut the bullshit," I said, exhaling the smoke in his face.
He coughed.
"W-what bullshit?" he sputtered.
I laughed.
"I'm no fool. I'm a bit slow and I may be completely retarded, but I'm no fool. You can speak freely so cut the 'Octy' bullshit," I explained, passing the joint to him.
He took the joint from me.
"Admit it," he said, taking a long drag, " you like the attention I'm giving you. And I noticed that you become flustered when I approach you in that manner."
I rolled my eyes.
"Your sister doesn't like it."
He laughed.
"That pretentious thing? Do I look like I give a fuck about her opinion?"
"You seemed scared of her," I teased, "like a good little boy..."
"Don't call me a good little boy," he said.
I turned to look at him. He looked very angry.
"She calls me a good little boy. Everyone likes her, the good and refined Koch child. What they don't know is that she's manipulative, abusive and toxic. Very toxic."
I sat there shocked.
Here I was thinking that my family was the only one with problems.
I chuckled a bit.
"Well, at least you only have one toxic sibling. Try being caught in the middle of two of them," I said.
"My parents see me as a..." he trailed off.
"...disappointment," I finished.
He nodded.
"Lol same," I said, "it's like our families had us and decided to fuck us up."
He laughed bitterly.
"It is what it is," he said, taking another puff.
**************************************
Three blunts later, we were high as fuck talking like old friends.
"You know, you're an alright person Octavia," said Rafael.
I smiled.
"You're an alright person Rainbow Monkey- I mean Rafael," I said, causing him to laugh.
"Stop calling me Rainbow Monkey," he said.
"Fix your hair color and maybe I'll stop," I teased.
He hummed in response.
"Let's call it a truce," he said, stretching out his pinky finger.
I laughed.
"You do realize that we're supposed to shake hands right?" I asked.
He nodded.
"But we're not two countries signing a peace treaty. We're human beings. Let's call a truce. A pinky truce," he said, wiggling his pinky finger.
I wiggled my pinky finger and we called a truce.
We talked some more before falling asleep in the car.
***********************************
By the time we got up, it was already time to go home.
"See you tomorrow Octy!" he yelled, running to his car.
"Stop calling me that!" I yelled.
"Neverrrrrrrrrrr!" he yelled.
I laughed.
I have a friend now.
Thought it was too late for that, but I suppose nothing happens before its time.
Smiling to myself, I drove out of the parking lot in the direction of my house.
