The story continue with Arthit finding out that Dalika died and they were celebrating her memorial :)
*****************************************
Arthit let Sun down at the ground Sun beside him. His eyes were fixed at the black and white picture of Dalika. The only conclusion he could come to after thinking for awhile, was that Dalika died and they were holding a memorial for her. What actually happened in the 3 years I was gone? He had many question but no answer to them. Arthit was curious, confused and speechless, didn't know how he should handle the unexpected situation. His mind was in chaos, he felt like he was out of place. Kongpob, Dalika's child and Dalika's mother were here to remember her so he shouldn't be here since he wasn't in the family.
Kongpob was surprised and flabbergasted to see Arthit standing in front of him. No, not today. You shouldn't come today and see it. With a heavy mind, he approached him, „Why're you here?". It sounded like he didn't really want Arthit to be here. He didn't want him to see that Dalika died and he was holding a memorial for her. But why was he hiding her death from him? Was there more to her death that he didn't want Arthit to find out about?
Arthit noticed the bandage around Kongpob's hand. He was worried, wanted to know why his hand was bandaged but he didn't want to sound too worried so he let go of that topic for the time being. „Sun called me and was crying", was his answer but he hide the fact that he came running here because the thought something happened to his former fiance like Sun told him. He was embarassed that he blindly believed a 2 years old boy and stormed here without confirming it first. Kongpob was the reason why he came here but he didn't want him to find out that he was scared for his life.
The taller man looked at his son, fierce as if the little boy did somethone he couldn't accept. Somehow he didn't like the fact that a two years old boy took his phone and called his mother he didn't wan here today. „Didn't I tell you not to play with my cellphone?", anger reflected in his eyes, Sun didn't fail to notice it either.
Sun, scared of his father's angry look, hide behind Arthit then turned his head away to avoid looking at his face since he was afraid of him right now. Arthit realized how much the boy was trembling behind him. He could feel how scared he was, as if Sun conveyed his feelings through him like a mother would always sence it if her child was in danger or afraid. Even though Sun was Dalika's, his enemy's, son he couldn't let Kongpob scare the innocent boy in his presence. He felt irritated that the taller man still shouted at the child to not take his phone again or else he would be really angry next time he did it without his permission.
„Stop it Kongpob! You're scaring him", Arthit interferred. He gently touched the boy on the head, caressing him to calm him down. „ Can't you see that he's worried about you?", he said with lowered voice, showing to Kongpob's injured hand that was wrapped in dressings.
Arthit screaming at him, took Kongpob aback. It let him remember the many times Arthit would yell at him in his freshmen's year as the shorter man was still a head hazer. Even in their relationship, the older man would shout at him sometimes if he provokated him too much. Kongpob was susprised that Arthit defented Sun because he thought he would distance himself from the child if he realize that he was Dalika's son. Because of him being afraid that Arthit would want to never see them again, he didn't want him to find out that Sun was her child. But the latter didn't behave indifferently towards his son. Apparantly the older man still liked the boy even though he was related to their mutual enemy. Yeah, right. Dalika wasn't just Arthit's enemy but Kongpob's too. Ever since he finally found out the truth about her, he made sure that she would repent for her wronddoings till the day she died. Of course one shouldn't talk badly about dead person but he couldn't find any nice words for her. So evil and wicked was she till the day she died.
Kongpob finally realized how much Sun was shaking behind his mommy's back, he pitied the kid, was disappointed at himself for losing his temper in front of Sun. He went down one knee, smiling at him. „I'm sorry for yelling at you, Sun... Will you forgive Daddy?"
Sun, still hiding behind his mommy, was reluctant to show himself in front of his father. He was scared he would scream at him again for not listening to him. As he looked at his mother, Arthit smiled at him. His smile made him secure that he was safe now and shouldn't be afraid of his Daddy anymore. He went to his father, touched Kongpob on the cheek as if he wanted to tell him that everything was alright and he shouldn't be angry nor sad anymore. The little boy smiled at him, hugging him all the sudden. Kongpob and Arthit looked at each other, a sweet smile played at their lips. Maybe they were smiling at each other for Sun's sake but they wouldn't admit it yet that they were happy to see each other again in the sad night filled with sorrows and pain.
Dalika's mother smiled too. She enjoyed the beautiful sight the two men and the little child were offering her but she pitied them too. Tears filled her eyes but she hold them back. Why she was on the verge of crying even though her daugher caused their break up? Even though Dalika died and her daughter's child was calling Arthit mommy as if he gave birth to him? It was the first time in 3 years that she saw Kongpob Suthiluck smile genuinely without feeling any pain nor sadness. It was the first time that Sun had someone else apart his father. Someone he could run to if his father scolded him for being naughty. Someone he could rely on to protect him. That person was a man who's life was ruined by her daughter. It was a man called Arthit Rojnapat. Because of the sweet family reunion, she couldn't hold back her tears of joy anymore. Now that Arthit came back into Kongpob's and Sun's life, everything will be fine now. Everything is at his right place. Please, Sun, do me the favour and bring the couple that your mother tortured together. Make sure that they found to each other again.
The mother cried for the couple, nodding that they still have a long way in front of each other before they can admit their love for each other again but she trusted love to take care of it for them. She was even proud of herself that she played a part in their reconcilation by allowing Sun to call his mommy. Actually it was her doing that Sun managed to phone Arthit. Because the child asked for his mommy to tell him about his father's injury, she searched Arthit's new number in Kongpob's phone since she was sure the latter would have his new number.
Somehow it was sad. She helped them but now she felt like she was out of place, a stranger who shouldn't be here so she nodded her head before leaving for the guest room, packing her belongings in the luggage. That night she made the decision that she wouldn't come back here again. In those 3 years she would occasinally visit Kongpob to check on him to see if he was safe and sound or eating properly. Even though Kongpob was against it, telling her that he didn't blame her for her daughter's schemings, she still felt that it was her duty to take care of father and son in Arthit's absence since her daughter caused their break up. According to her Mr. Suthiluck would be fine without her now because his wife returned. His wife would take care of him in her stead.
Dalika's mother left them alone but Kongpob and Arthit didn't even notice her absence. Why should they? They finally found to each other again so they didn't need her anymore. Sun broke the hug with his father, staring deep in his eyes.
„Daddy alright?", the boy asked.
Kongpob showed to his hand that was wrapped in dressings. „Ah, you mean my hand?"
Sun nodded his head, took his papa's injured hand in his too small hands, mustering it from here and there to see if he was badly injured.
„It's nothing... I just scratched my hand too much."
Liar! It was really a big lie. Even Arthit realized that he wasn't telling the truth regarding the injury on his hand but the older man didn't want to ask him too much question about it since Kongpob was hiding the reason from him. Maybe he didn't want me to know about it. Even though Arthit decided to let go of the matter, he was pissed off that the latter was keeping a secret from him again just like 3 years ago. The shorter man looked aside, gritting his teeth at N'Kong for being such a jerk.
Arthit took out his cellphone, finally realized that it was already late whereupon he stuffed the phone back in his pocket. „I have to go home". It's not like he did have anything important to do at home but he didn't want to be here to disturb the memorial. He was curious but didn't want to reopen old wounds by asking about a subject that shouldn't concern him anyway. As he turned away to bid farewell with the old woman, he didn't see here around them.
Only now did both of them notice that Dalika's mother left them a while ago. Kongpob didn't even bother to chase after since he thought it was better for her to not see them happy while the remaining of her daughter was ashes and already mixed with mother nature. Kongpob was sure she would miss her daughter but he didn't knew that she was glad that the couple found their way to each other again. She wished for their happiness more than anybody.
Arthit bidded farewell with N'Kongpob and was about to leave but something prevented him from leaving. Both father and son were holding him there, refusing to let him go. Kongpob grabbing at his wrist, Sun tugging at his leg, looking up to him with his puppy eyes again.
„It's already too late. Why don't you spend the night here?", the younger man suggested.
It surprised Arthit that Kongpob asked him to spend the night here on the day of his son's mother's death. It surprised him even more that Kongpob even dared to ask him to stay here.
„No, I don't want to be a nuisance to you", it sounded more like a sulk that Kongpob was keeping a secret from him. Not only was he hiding his injury from him but he also kept information about Dailiak's death too. Beside Kongpob lying to him, reminded him of the many lies he troted him out to protect Dalika instead of him in the old days. Of course the main reason for their break up, was his disease but N'Kongpob's many lies were one of the reason why he choose to left him instead of staying by him, feeling insecure and crying every day. Arthit thought that Kongpob changed but he was still the same liar.
Actually Kongpob changed into a better man. Now he was a man who would believe his boyfriend more than anyone since he didn't want the same to repeat again but Arthit was just too angry to notice it. The shorter man could ask him too what happened to his hand. The taller man would tell him the truth about why he injured himself if he cincerly did ask him about it. But Arthit would never went over his pride because he didn't want him to find out that he was still concerned about him. Or else Kongpob would think he still had a chance by him. No way, would I have him back if he even begged me to forgive him for the past. Really? Arthit was testing destiny without even knowing it. Beside, I don't want him to know why I left for another country.
„You're not a bother", Kongpob tried to make him stay.
„I don't want to stay here!", Arthit clearly declared, finally letting Kongpob know that he didn't want to be closer to him than he already was ever since they met again. The older man was mad at himself that he still had feeling for him and came running here because he was worried over him. 3 years ago he promised himself not to look back at the past nor come back into Kongpob's life but here he was, standing in front of him again.
It pained Kongpob's heart that Arthit rejected him again but this time, he didn't want to make him angry like he did years before. He had enough of hurting and making Arthit angry so he finally let go of him. For him it was better to be hurt instead of Arthit since he deserved it anyway. Arthit squatted down on the ground, touching Sun at his head while smiling to him. Sun didn't like the idea that his mother was leaving him again after he made such an effort to bring him here. He was sulking, was on the verge of crying but Arthit smiling to him, made him hold back his tears. He sniffed back the tears that was about to roll down.
„I have to go tonight but it doesn't mean that we won't see each other again... I'll visit you soon"; he promised the little child. „Be a brave boy and wait for me, na?"
After hearing Arthit's promise, the smile returned on Sun's lips. He nodded that he would bravely wait for his mommy to come back again. Without taking a last glance at Kongpob, he took the way back his home. Kongpob had no choice as to look at his back till he disappeared from his home. Did I mess up again? Why's he angry at me now? He looked at his hand that hurted like hell now. I just don't want you to know that I injured myself by hitting hard on the wall... Because... Because I missed you. Because I'm furious at myself for messing it up 3 years ago by believing Dalika more than you. I wanted to feel pain because I can't stand the pain in my heart anymore. It's too painful Arthit. Why did you leave me? Why can't you see that I'm broke because of you? Why are you enjoying life with another man while I'm suffering on my own? Why can't you forgive me and come back to me?
Sun pulled at his father's, staring at his eyes to see if he was crying. He didn't like it that he was sad as his mommy left. Kongpob looked at Sun, wanted to smile, telling him that he was alright but the words wouldn't come out of his mouth. It wasn't easy to lie that he was okay although he was suffering by himself. I don't want to lie anymore that I'm fine... Arthit, I'm not fine at all.
****
Arthit, still walking on the street to find a cab on the main road, crossed his arms over his chest. The night was chilly, he rubbed on his arms to raise his temperature. But it didn't help either to warm him up. All the sudden something fell on his shoulders. It surprised him but the things felt warm. As he looked around, he found two persons smiling at him in front of him. He was speechless from shock. Kongpob and Sun were in front of him, smiling at him. Kongpob looked like the shining knight in amor since he brought a jacket for him as if he knew he would feel cold in the chilly night. The warm thing on his shoulders was a jacket. Surely it was Kongpob's jacket. Where did he knows that I'm feeling cold?
Arthit stared at Kongpob, was surprised and couldn't believe that the younger man followed him to just bring him a warm jacket. One could say it was a surprise he didn't expect to hapen either. Appreciation reflected in hArthit's eyes, he wanted to express his gratitude toward him but couldn't since he knew Kong must have an ulterior motive to chase after him. Kongpob liked the way Arthit gazed at him with gratitude in his eyes, he raised his eyebrowns.
„Do I look like the shining knight in amor for bringing you the jacket?", the taller suddenly said, making Arthit angry with his remark.
„What?", Arthit hissed at him. He wanted to thank him but the latter's remark forced him to swallow down his appreciation for him. He said through gritted teeth, „Who would be grateful for such a trivial move? It'll take you more to impress me", the shorter man lied. Not only to Kongpob did he lie but to himself too. Because he knew how hard his heart was skipping a beat because Kongpob showed that he still cared for him after all those years.
Sun, still carried by his father, enjoyed the little discussion between his father and mother. Since he was too young to understand the meaning hiding behind their little argument, he just thought they were playing with each other, enjoying their little game. Maybe the child was even right that they were enjoying each other's presence but they wouldn't admit it right away. Suns saw through them!
„Should I take you home?", Kongpob proposed him.
„No... I can go home by myself", he declined again one of Kongpob's offer.
Even though the shorter man declined that he wasn't touched by Kongpob's help, he still adjusted on the jacket around his shoulders to feel more warm. Even though he didn't want him to take him home, Kongpob just went pass him, waiting in front of him when Arthit remained there, flabbergasted about him following him again.
„I will see you to the street", the taller man answered.
Arthit continued his way, passing beside Kongpob, leaving him behind him. „You don't need to. I can find the way back home by myself."
„I'm not worrying about you getting lost. I just want you to be safe on the way back home", he said. He mumbled some words Arthit didn't fail to hear, „Beside I don't want the same accident that happened 3 years ago to repeat again", Kongpob didn't want to remind him of the painful past so he didn't want to be more clear about his remark.
Arthit froze on the spot, his eyes fixed on the latern that enlighted the way for them to see the dark street clearlier. He looked down, remembered about the past when P'Net abducted him in front of their apartment. Chill ran down his spine, he shuddered in fear when the accident replayed in his head. That time he called Kongpob for help but he never came to his rescue. The older man knew Kongpob was talking about the abduction. Both of them fell quiet.
„It happened a long time ago", Arthit mumbled as he had enough of the awkward silence between them. It sounded like he wanted to let Kongpob know that it wasn't his fault that the crazy P'Net abducted him. After all those years they were seperated, Arthit thought over it and recognized that he was at fault too for the unfortunate accident. He blamed himself that he didn't tell Kongpob sooner about the picture the stalker sent him the night they argued and he angrily closed himself in their bedroom. If he did convey him about it, maybe Kongpob could have prevent his colleague from work to kidnap him. Unfortunately Arthit spoke so faint that the younger man didn't hear him properly. He looked up again to him, „Beside nothing will happen to me because I'm more careful now."
„Still I don't want to take any risk", was Kong's last words before he walked forwards.
Even if he didn't wish Kongpob to accompany him, both of them walked on the empty street, coming closer to the main road. The awkward atmoshpere around them returned, both of them remained quiet for a long time. Although they had many topic to talk about, they couldn't find the beginning of the conversation. Arthit had many questions about Dalika, her mother, Sun and Kongpob but he couldn't find the courage to ask those questions. Kongpob too would like to know about the life Arthit lead in those 3 years but he wasn't sure if Arthit would tell him about it if he mentioned about it. None of them wanted to speak first and break the silence. It didn't last long till Sun fell asleep in his father's arm, clenching onto him.
„Shouldn't he be asleep a long time ago?", there was the first topic they could talk about.
„Yeah but he refused to sleep. Now I know why...", Kongpob wasn't sure himself but he guessed that Sun missed Arthit and waited for his arrival so he didn't sleep earlier.
„I see", was Arthit's short reply.
„Did you visit me because Sun called you over?", Kongpob found the courage to try having a discussion with him.
Arthit stuttered, „Ähm... yes. Should I have another reason to visit you in the middle of the night?". Arthit still hide the fact that he came running over there because of Kongpob. The taller man gazing at him with his sharp eyes, intimitated him. It looked like the latter didn't believe him. „Where did you find my new phone number", he was curious to know about it.
„P'Knot gave it to me."
„That bastard", the shorter man sweared at his best friend through gritting teeth, he didn't like the fact that he gave his information to his former fiance he didn't want to find out that he returned to Thailand. Because he didn't want Kongpob to search for him nor confront him, he wanted to hide from him while being in Thailand. But now that they met again under those strange circumstance, he had to enjure it for awhile till one month passed and he could return to South Korea.
„Where did you find my address?"
Now that Kongpob asked him about it, he regretted that he just sweared at Ai'Knot for giving out his personal data without his permission because of the same man told him about the taller man's new address. „From Ai'Knot", he uttered in embarassment.
Silence took over them again. Kongpob adverted his attention to the little child who was restless in his sleep, turning his head aside. He put his palm on his head to support his head so he wouldn't fall down. Arthit used the chance to look up in the sky, gazing at the starry night. The night was chilly but it didn't scare the stars to come out, shining as always. As Arthit's attention fell onto Kongpob and Sun, he fall in deeo though. So he's your son Dalika gave birth to, right? He wanted to enjure it, ignore the fact that his boyfriend cheated on him with his enemy and she even gave birth to a son for him. So she gave you a son you always wanted but I would never be able to give you. He felt happy for Kongpob for his fulfilled wish but at the same time it torned his heart apart that it wasn't him who made his wish come true. It wasn't me who gave you the sweet but innocent Sun.
„Sun is Dalika and your child, right?", Arthit dared to ask, wanted to let his feelings out or else they would torment him from the rest of his life. He didn't want to live in sufferings and loneliness, unsure if Sun was Dalika's and Kongpob's child. For Arthit, it was better to live in pain while knowing the truth instead of living in insecurity, still thinking if Sun was related to his former fiance or not. Maybe his wound would heal someday if he found out the truth.
„Is this the conclusion you came to after 3 years of knowing nothing about Dalika, Sun or me?", there was another meaning hiding in the rethorical question. It seemed like he was sad and disappointed that Arthit didn't come to another assumption as him impregnanting Dalika the day he supposed to had slept with her. It hurted him so much that his former fiance didn't still believe him after all those years.
„The last clue I found out was that my fiance cheated on me with a crazy woman. She died but you didnt even tell me about when or why she died. Nobody did", Arthit clashed back.
„Why're angry about it that nobody told you about her death? Are you curious about it now? Do you really want to find out how I spent my life after the years we were sepearted or do you just want to satisfy your curiosity?", Kongpob's fierce gaze pierced through Arthit's eyes.
Arthit felt offended from Kongpob's words. He would like to reply but as he noticed that he almost raised his voice, he swallowed down his pride for the sake of the little child that was sleeping between them. As far as he was concerned, he wanted to leave Kongpob believe he didn't care about him anymore. Since he knew his own feelings, he let him believe everything he was sure to know about. The older man was about to leave him but the taller man grabbed at his wrist, preventing him from running away from their disagreement. Arthit yanked his hand out of the latter's grip, panting furiously.
„Do you know how miserable I felt as you left me?", the taller man raised his voice, forgot that a child was there sleeping. He continued, „I searched for you every day, begged P'Knot and your parents to tell me about your whereabout but none of them wanted to see me. I was kept in the dark for 3 years. I was alone, P'Arthit", he touched on his heart, „Now you came back but didn't even show a tiny bit of interest towards me nor to Sun. I never knew you could be such a heartless person."
At first the shorter man couldn't give a reply because he didn't expect Kongpob to raise his voice at him. He didn't want to leave him high and dry either, he too was kept in the dark about Dalika's death so he clashed back at him. „Do you really think I didn't care about you at all? Do you know that I left the country for your sake?". His loud voice almost woke up Sun, the boy moved in his sleep, clenching his father's neck. Arthit lowered his voice to not disturb his sleep, „You can't call me a heartless person. Do you know that I searched for you in our old apartment as Sun called me that you're in pain?", he yelled at him. Because of rage, he vent out his feelings he tried to hide from Kongpob all those time. He almost blurted out the real reason he left Thailand but he managed to control himself in the last moment.
„Sorry... I didn't know that you came running here for me", Kongpob's heart throbed when knowing that Arthit didn't change into a cold person but was still worried about him. It made him happy to know that his former fiance could still have feeling for him. He regretted it that he yelled at him even though he wanted to reconcile with him. Damn it! How could I tell him those hurtful words although I wanted to make it up to him. Why do I have to snap out in this moment? Kongpob was disappointed at himself that he couldn't contain his anger and let it out on Arthit instead. He threw a look at his injured hand that was wrapped in dressings. „I... I injured myself because I met you again. I'm just mad at myself that I let you go 3 years ago. The pain for losing you was too much to take so I hurt myself to forget the pain in my heart."
Arthit didn't expect this revealation. He knew that Kongpob was always straightforward and would never lose hope in chasing after his love untill the person rejected him complteley but he was speechless that the latter admitted that he hurted him for him. He froze on the spot, his face reddening all the sudden from his cheeks to his ears. He stuttered, wanted to yell at him again for being stupid for injuring himself but the words refused to come out. Kongpob found it too cute that the latter blushed in front of him. As he was about to ask more about the reason why he felt Thailand, his cellphone vibrated in his pocket. No way! Who can have such a bad timing that he's disturbing me while I'm trying to make it up with P'Arthit?
He didn't want to pick up the phone, let it ring for awhile. As he was sure the caller gave up, the phone rang again. The sound dirturbed Sun. Now he had no choice to pick up the phone. Without thinking much about it, he gave Sun to Arthit, forcing the shorter man to take him while he was on the phone. Somehow Kongpob loved to see the oblivious mommy taking care of their child. It conjured a smile on his lips to see that Arthit didn't know much about a child and was struggling at how he should hold Sun. Funny that the bad-tempered head hazer P'Arthit was helpless towards a two years old boy.
Arthit almost let Sun fall fall down as the child struggled in his arms while dreaming. He sneaked a peek at Kongpob to see if he noticed him how clueless he was about a child. Kongpob arelady saw it, he looked aside to avoid the big smile on his lips. As Arthit realized that Kongpob was chuckling, he blushed in embarassment. How could a mere two years old child embarass him in front of his former fiance? Too bad I don't have a hand free or else I would have slap him on the head. Frustrasted about his own clumsiness, he gave up then just carried him in his arms like a baby.
Kongpob cleared his throat before taking the phone call, „Hello, here is Kongpob Suthiluck", he answered wihtout seeing at the screen first.
„Mr. Suthiluck, here is Malie, the nanny. I'm sorry but I have to take tomorrow off."
„You can't be serious, right?"
„Sorry but I have to leave for my country because of an urgent matter."
„Why didn't you tell me sooner that you have to leave? Now I have no one to look after Sun for me", Kongpob sounded agitated at the nanny. Strong headache tortured him, he rubbed at his forehead to lessen the pain but it didn't help much either.
„I'm sorry. I didn't know about it either untill today that my mother is sick in the country side. She has no one to look after her", she explained.
„Ah, I see", now that he found out the reason for her taking a day off, he calmed down. It was her mother after all so she should take more days off as she wished. „When will you come back?"
„I don't know... It could take 3 weeks or more. I'm sorry Mr. Suthiluck but I'll come back as soon as she is feeling alright."
„No, it's okay, I'll search for somebody to look after Sun. Just make sure that you nurse your mother back to health. Give her my greetings and I wish her to get well soon."
„Thanks... See you soon", the nanny in her end thirty said before hanging up.
Kongpob sighed, rubbing at his forehead again. He fell deep in thought, thinking about the possible person who would be free to play nanny for his son for 3 to 4 weeks. Unfortunately he had an important meeting with a CEO of their co company so he couldn't take tomorrow off nor play sick either. Damn it! He ruffled his hairs messy. Arthit had listened to the whole conversation so he could imagine in which dilemma Kongpob was right now.
„What about Dalika's mother or your family?"
„My mom is not in Bangkok and my sisters are busy with their own children. Dalika's mother don't live with me but only visit me occasionaly. Beside she already left for her home this night", Kongpob wasn't sure why she left so sudden but he could guess that she couldn't look at Arthit in the face and expect him to forgive her daughter for all the things she had done to him. Maybe she blamed herself for raising her daughter into an evil beast?
„Oh", he reacted at Kongpob's answer. Why do I feel delighted that Dalika's mother doesn't live in the same house with Kongpob and Sun? There's something wrong with me.
All the sudden Kongpob adverted his eyes to Arthit, staring at him with his sad eyes. As if he knew the question the taller man was about to ask him, Arthit just shook his head, telling him „No... Don't!". But the stubborn Kongpob didn't listen to him, asking him if he could take care of Sun till he found a surrogate nanny.
„No", Arthit refused without thinking much about it.
The shorter man gazed at the little child in his arms, guilty feeling overwhelming him for rejecting such a sweet boy. He liked Sun but he just didn't want to spend any more minute with Kongpob nor in the house Dalika could have live in before she died. Even if Sun didn't have anything to do with it nor was born in that time, his mother ruined his life so he couldn't forgive her nor resist seeing her picture in the house. It already broke his heart that Kongpob went over him and spent his life with Dalika but he wouldn't survive it if he saw their happy pictures hanging on the wall all over their rooms. Even though he didn't have any work to do in the last 3 weeks that remained him, he couldn't help Kongpob no matter the circumstance.
His mind was telling him that he should run far away from Kongpob to protect his own heart. They broke up 3 years ago. Everything ended between them the moment Kongpob slept with Dalika. He threw his old life and relationship the moment he broke up with him and climbed in the airplane to leave for South Korea. We can't never go back to our old relationship. It's for our own sake that we forget about each other and don't meet again in the future.
****
Although he clearly declined to not visit them again and listen to his intinct, here was Arthit standing in front of Kongpob's door, waiting for him to open the door for him. Somehow he was nervous for an unkown reason, chill running down his spine while thinking that he would spend a few weeks with Kongpob's son in Kongpob's house. His heart beated faster the more he thought about the duties he would have to do. He would have to see Kongpob wake up every day, help him to prepare for work, look after Sun the whole day, cook for them and wait for Kongpob till he came back late in their night. Wait! It's really a nanny work to look after Kongpob too? No way! It sounds more like the work of a... a wife? No way, will I ever play wife and mommy for Kongpob and Sun. But if I think more about it it didn't sound like the role of the wife either because I have to part way with him the moment he returned from work instead of sharing the bed with him in the night.
Wh... What? Sharing a bed with him? His eyes widened in shock about his own statement, he blushed, his body's temperature raised, he felt hot all the sudden. What am I thinking about? It's not we're a couple anymore. He hit his head to forget the pervy thought that was about to come to life in his mind. Why did I come here anyway? Arthit could have hit his head against as he remembered about yesterday's night as Kongpob accompanied him to the main road to hail a taxi.
Flashback
„You're the only one I can ask for help?", Kongpob begged, trying to convince to babysit Sun in those 3 weeks he would stay in Thailand.
Arthit had the feeling the latter had an ulterior motive. A motive he woud regret later so he refused to succumb to him and help him. „I said no", he slightly raised his voice.
Kongpob heaved a sight. After their little argument, they went the rest of the way without talking to each other. Both of them arrived at the main road. The street was too quiet for the beautiful night, there was few cars driving by. Although a minute passed by, there wasn't a cab within their sight. Because the older man was still struggling with Sun that began to be heavier the longer Arthit had to hold him, the taller man took his son into to arms to release him. With a single swung Kongpob carried Sun closer to his body, leaning his head on his shoulder. Now the child calmed down in his sleep since this position was more comfortable for him.
„Tsk", the cound came from the jealous Arthit. He was jealous about the way Kongpob was able to manage Sun.
There was a cab in sight, the younger man waved to the driver that parked in front of him. Arthit entered the taxi, giving the driver his parents' home address. Kongpob closed the door for him, smiling at him, showing his complete teeth.
„See you tomorrow", he waived his goodbye to Arthit.
The driver drove forwards. Arthit who heard Kongpob talking to him, gritted his teeth at his former fiance's stubborness. No matter the circumstance he would never allow himself to play babysitting while he was in his recovery after the bad news he received this night. Kongpob waived at him, waiting till the car disappeared from his view. After making sure that Arthit safely took the cab to home, he returned to his house too. On his way back home, he smiled to Sun, whispering to him that he should be lucky because his mother would spend more time with them from tomorrow on. Later he would call him to ask if he came home safely.
End of Flashback
This was how Kongpob managed to persuade Arthit to take care of Sun in the nanny's place. Maybe I should go back home. Yeah, it's better to leave before it would be too late. The door got open before he could take a step back, a handsome young man was standing in front of him, smiling at him to see him so early in the morning. Arthit's eyes mustered Kongpob from head to toes the moment his eyes fell on the charming prince before him. His eyes then froze on Kongpob's handsome face. The latter's look captivated Arthit, he saved his look deep in his memory where he could recall it whenever he missed him. Kongpob wore a four part dark suit, an expensive dark watch around his wrist, his hair strictly combed aside like the old day he was a head hazer. He was dazzling like a precious and expensive diamond. Arthit felt like he fell in love with him all over again, so dazzling he was that it even hurted his eyes.
He always looks good in dark clothes. It really suits him. Whenever the taller man wore dark suit, Arthit would feel mesmerized about it that. Like today. He was admiring him so much that he forgot the real reason why he came here for. He even forgot that Kongpob cheated on him with his enemy N'Dalika. Arthit's throat felt dry, he gulped heavily, couldn't find a word to describe how fine looking his former fiance was today. I mean he always looks good but he looks too captivating today.
„Morning", Kongpob greeted him, breaking the silence with a sweet smile playing on his red lips. The smile was more beautiful and warm than the morning sun raising in the sky.
„Huh?", Arthit was too deep with adoring the younger man that he forgot to reply back to him. When Kongpob's smile turned bright, he came back to his senses. He wished to wipe the bright smile off Kongpob's face because it made him look like he was enjoying his little victory over him.
Kongpob's smile irritated Arthit so much that he regretted for giving in to Kongpob and come here after all. The taller man knew that Arthit wasn't a morning person so he was grateful that he came here earlier in the morning despite him hating to wake up too early. Maybe I'm still special to him that's why he couldn't reject me either. The younger man wished he was right with his assumption about Arthit still having feelings for him.
Since the taller man was too busy with preparing for work, he greeted Arthit again then dashed back in the living room. Arthit shook hard his head to bane the admiration for the taller man from his mind, reminding himself that Kongpob was a cheater he would never forgive. With a determination bruning in his eyes that he wouldn't let his look charm him, he entered the house, following Kongpob in the big living room.
Kongpob briefed Arthit shortly about his mansion and the task the shorter man had to do. Because it was too much for the first day and Arthit could forget it again, he wrote his duties down on a note hanging on the refrigerator. After they went around the house, Arthit counted that it was a 3 rooms house with 2 bathroom and a kitchen. The kitchen was seperated in two, on the one side were the closet with shoves and ofen. On the other side was the dining room with 6 chairs around the table. The guestroom was down stairs with a bathroom. The master room and the nusery were on the first etage with a single bathroom.
Kongpob rushed in his bedroom. Through the open door, Arthit could take a sneak peek in the master's room to see if there was any picture of Kongpob and Dalika. The slot of the door he was looking in the room, was too narrow that he couldn't take a better look as he wanted. The only thing he could spot was a kingsized bed that looked familiar. The younger man took his tie then carefully stepped in in the room in front of his own room. It was the nursery packed with many toys for boys. Sun was sleeping on the bed that was kept low so he wouldn't hurt himself if he tried to climb down the bed. A picture frame was on the bedside cabinet but the picture was covered on the bedside cabinet. Surely it was to hide the picture from Arthit. It must be Sun's mother's picture. Dalika's picture. His hear almost jumped out of his chest when knowing that Sun had to look at his birth mother's image every day, made his heart squeeze in pain but in jealousy too. Why am I even jealous? She's his mother and he has every right to know her. To never forget her.
The younger man gave Sun a kiss on the forehead while putting his tie on, whispering him to be good to his mommy while in his absence. Thankfully he spoke so faint that Arthit didn't hear him clealier or else he would blush or be mad at him again for calling him mommy. He smiled at his sleeping son then carefully caressed his hairs back from his face before taking the steps back in the living room, closely followed by the shorter man. Kongpob suddenly turned back, almost bumping onto Arthit since the latter was too close behind him. Their lips almost touched each other but their noses managed to brush against each other. Arthit took a step back, Kongpob rubbed at his nose, trying so hard to hold back the big grin that was about to appear on his lips. Somehow he was enjoying the beginning of their meeting. All beginning wasn't easy. It could lead them to something later. Something like love.
„You can call me if you're not sure about something", Kongpob said, trying to take Arthit's insecurities about the many task away.
Arthit's eyes were fixed on Kongpob's messy tie the whole time, he was disturbed about it. He don't seem to notice that he didn't tie it properly. Should I do it for him? No, I shouldn't. It'll make me look like a housewife wishing a good day for his husband. Arthit was thinking about whether he should correct his tie or not. He has an important meeting today. It wouldn't leave a good expression if he appears like that. They would think he is unorganized. No way Kongpob is unorganized like me. He defended him even in his though, thinking too much instead of doing it.
Kongpob was about to leave. Arthit suddenly grabbed at Kongpob's collar, making him stay for awhile. He tied the tie properly for him. They were standing too close to each other that they nose almost grazed each other's again. Their exhaled breath brushed against each other's nose. Arthit's body temperature raised. The older man tried to enjure it, resisting the tempting look in front of him. Don't look at him! Don't see him in the eyes or he would charm you again. He warned himself but didn't listen to his own warning. As he looked up, he realized Kongpob staring at him the whole time. Their eyes finally met, Arthit gulped heavily. His eyes fell in the latter's, he was captivated again. As if the taller man cast a spell on him, Arthit couldn't advert his attention from him. Kongpob looked too good to be ignored. No wonder I fell in love with him. He manages to make me admire him again even though I'm supposed to be mad at him. Why only he can do that to me? He's the only person who can make me laugh, smile, sad, cry, hurt and happy at the same time. Why did you make me leave you, N'Kong? His heart skipped a beat, he was scared Kongpob would notice his hard thumping heart.
Kongpob's warm breath grazing Arthit's sensitive nose, tickling him, making his body even more hot as it already was. The older man could feel his body hairs standing up, goosebumps. He hold back his breath to not blush nor make a wrong move that could close the little inches of gape between them and bring him closer to him. Kongpob looked calm on the outside but he was restless in the inside too but he just managed to hide his feelings to well. His heart was throbing for the shorter man, it hurted too. He would never be over his P', he would always love him till the end of his life. Why did I lose you? What can I do to have you back? How can you be mine again? The feelings he had for Arthit overwhelmed him, he felt the urge to touch Arthit's every body part, steal many kisses from him and leave his own scent on him. The urge was too unbearable that he reached out his hand to him, almost caressing him on the cheek. But he retired back his eyes when Arthit finally finished correcting the tie around his neck. Now he looked more like the perfectionist, organised prince Arthit knew him and learned to love.
„Thanks", the younger man showed his gratitude before taking his suitcase, leaving the living room.
Arthit was left behind. Only now could he breath again, he panted for air. His face turned blue earlier because of lack of oxygen but his pale colour returned when he breathed again. His body still felt hot, he waved air to his face. He felt embarassing about the fact that Kongpob managed to leave strong feelings in him although they were seperated because of him. A calm minute went by. His temperature increased back to normal. Why can't my heat react to my mind that don't want Kongpob back in my life? Why do I still love him?
„Mommy?", a sweet voice called.
Arthit looked up only to find Sun waking up and standing in his pyjama on the last step of the stairs, holding onto the banister to not lose his balance and fall down. The little child smiled brightly when he finally recognized his mother. The smile was so bright that it couldn't be compared to the sun in the sky. He was called Sun but his smile was more warmer than this of the sun. One could say he had it from his mother Arthit.
Arthit's heart brighted as he saw Sun. He returned the smile with a genuine smile that could brighten every gloomy day, revealing his cute dimples. Arthit didn't knew but the moment he stepped in this house, his fate was sealed. He was bound to stay in Thailand, more like to stay in this house and spent the rest of his life with Kongpob and Sun. Someday he would learn to love Sun as his own son and love Kongpob as his husband.
****
Kongpob drove his car out of the garage but he didn't leave right away. He remained in the car, looking at the frontshield. His lips curved up into a sweet smile.
It was a good idea to tie the tie messy. Kongpob smirked about his little victory. That young man was always a sly mischievous fox. Of course he purposely tied his tie not correctly to see Arthit's reaction. One could say that his little experiment was a success because Arthit felt so bothered about his messy tied that he tied it properly for him, showing that he still cared for him. Why Kongpob thought that Arthit still had feelings for him because he tied it for him? Right it could be that Arthit was a perfectionist who hated something that wasn't correct. But Arthit wasn't like that. He wasn't obsessed with perfection nor would do everything to get rid of a stain on clothes like Kongpob always did. He wouldn't care that a picture hanging on the wall wasn't symmetric either. Just because of his character, Kongpob found out that Arthit was worried about him. Arthit didn't want him to leave a bad image in front of his business partner so he tried to correct the tie for him. One could say that Arthit's strange behaviour was exposing him that he still loved Kongpob.
******************************************
What do you think of this chapter? Kongpob and Arthit are finally coming closer to each other again because of Sun :D Thanks the nanny had to take a few weeks off so Arthit could take her place. It was his right place from the beginning anyway ;)
It would take me longer to update the next chapter since I'm going to be busy again but I'll try to udapte the historical story this weekend.
