********************************************
The strong wind blew their scarf from their faces, showing their faces to the spectators. Thet Shay closed his eyes to prevent dust from getting into his eyes, meanwhile the man laying above him was looking at him, almost bore a hole into his face by staring too much at him. He couldn't believe to meet him just like he wished but he didn't expect to encounter him again under this circumstance. The wind calmed down, Thet Shay opened his eyes, finally realized the surprise awaiting him. His eyes went over the young man laying above him, describing every inch of his body.
His small face, his short black hairs, his thin lips, everything about Chan Tha was captivating. His handsome face could easily let him pass as a royal guard, for him he was even more handsome than every royal guards he saw untill now. But there was something disturbing about him. It was the look in his sharp eyes. There was something dangerous reflecting in his eyes, making him look like a black tiger, waiting for the best opportunity to strike at his prey anytime. Even if he was handsome, there were a mysterious aura surrounding him.
It was the same thought Arthit had about him 4 years ago. The man above him, mustering him with his sharp eyes, was the same person who saved him from some bandits 4 years ago, the same man who let him ride on his rude horse back to the emperial city, the very same hero who helped him collect his money back from the con salesmen. After all those years he lost contact with him, the taller man didn't change at all that he even could use the same description he made 4 years about him today too.
Chan Tha mustered him from head to toes, remembering about his past look and comparing it with his present appearance. He looked at his flawless skin, at his brown shining eyes, his small nose, his red lips, and moreover at his chubby cheeks. Now that he met him again, he noticed the latter didn't change much either after all those years. The only changes about him was his short hairs, his strong ambition and his skills in fighting. Although he trained to be stronger, he didn't put on any muscles and even kept his girlish appearance. For him he was still the stupid weak young man he saved that time from bandits, from losing his way back home and from sneaky salesmen.
Now he knew why he felt unfamiliar towards his Highness sitting beside the emperor. He didn't feel anything because his heart already noticed the man was a doubleganger, more like a cheap doubleganger too. How come his own parents didn't notice the switch, moreover the difference between their own son and this man sitting next to them? Now that the real man, Arthit, was laying under him, his heart was restless again just like before, it was pondering too hard.
A little smile cracked on the taller man's face. The reason? Simple! The picture of Arthit from 4 years ago replayed in his mind: He was smiling genuinely at him while watching him eating the bread he gave him. His dimples showed on his cheeks whenever he smiled so brightly. It was a picture that popped up whenever he reminisced about him.
Those chubby cheeks, they were doing something with him. He felt a huge urge to pinch the latter on the cheek, he couldn't control the urge as if a spell was casted on him. His hand moved to the crown Prince, wanting to touch him but he retired his hand back as he reminisced about Arthit's real identity. He was the Crown Prince so needed to restrain himself from touching him because he was a person he shouldn't touch so easily or else he would be punished to death for disrepecting him.
Murmur rised in the tournament field, the higher officials who recognized Thet Shay, couldn't believe the picture their eyes showed them. The spectators without titles couldn't understand the commotion that suddenly rised amoung the rich men in the higher position since they never saw his Highness before. They were looking at each other, asking about the reason for them to be restless. Who was the young man Ko Thet Shay? He was the Crown Prince Arthit but how should they know it when people lowly birth weren't allowed to see his Highness's face ?
Although most of the spectators were in shock because of the sudden turn of the situation, something else was happening down on the tournament field. The two fighters were busy with staring at each other, Chan Tha still laying above him and Thet Shay still admiring the man's handsome appearance and his fighting skills. They fell silent but amazement reflected in their eyes. It was impossible for them to describe what they were feeling right now because simple words couldn't be enough to speak out the feelings they had this very moment. They met again, it was like a miracle for the shorter man. For them to meet again like that, was like a miracle they never expected to happen to them.
„His Highness", Chan Tha called him with a gentle voice, breaking the silence in the atmosphere.
His Highness's lips curved up into a smile but before he could smile brightly, he suddenly remembered about his parents looking at them from above. They were so deep in their own world that they forgot their surroundings for awhile. Chan Tha stood up, offered him his hand without thinking about the consequences he could receive by breaking the law about not touching the royal family like they were normal human beings. The shorter man looked at the hand offered to him, he gently placed his hand on his palm so the latter could gently pull him over. When he stood straight his feet, he finally faced his parents.
The Emperor and Empress looked at each other, they were clearly angry at their son for taking part in the match without asking for their approval but they kept their calmness since they were the mother and father of the nation. They shouldn't show any emotion in front of their people or it woud mean they were showing weakness to their own people. But it was hard for them to remain calm under this circumstance. Arthit was in big trouble again.
The young man disguising as his Highness panicked, he was scared for his life, cursing his duty as the eunuch of the Crown Prince. He was serving the future Emperor but it also meant his life was automatically short because he could die anytime, either by doing a mistake or being slayed by some lunatic assassins. The Emperor waved his hand to the genereal of the royal guards. This movement was enouch for the young eunuch to fear for his life. Since he knew what that sign meant, he wanted to escape by stepping back to sneak out but two guards quickly captured him.
Arthit wanted to run to his rescue but he was taken aback when two other soldiers brought a man in front of the Emperor. The guards detained him, holding strongly on his arms to prevent him from running away. The prisoner had short hairs, fierce looking face but his eyes reflecting something else. It was fear but pride too. His face was awkwardly girlish... Wait! It couldn't be! Now that Chan Tha and Arthit looked closely at the man, they realized he wasn't a man with androgynous features but a woman. She had the same clothes of one the participants from this tournament. Ko Thura!
Arthit's eyes widened in shock as he recognized the girl. Not as Ko Thura but as someone he met some years ago too. How could this happen?
„She was one of the participant. We found her lurking around in the palace but when we took the scarf from her face, we saw that she was a women."
Thura glanced from the corner of her eyes to Arthit, finally realized he was the Crown Prince. Shock was written on her face when she noticed he was Ko Thet shay. She tried to run down while screaming for his Highness but the soldiers were holding her with so much strength, she couldn't escape them. She regretted fighting Arthit and her decision to sabotage his match by stealing his sword as revenge for winning against her.
Flame of rage burnt in the emperor's eyes. He almost lost his temper but managed to mentain his calmness in the last moment. „Bring her in the dungeon! She could be an assissan. I want you to force every details out of her and inform me about it later!", he ordered from the guards.
The Crown Prince was about to save her but strong hands grabbed on his arms, blocking him from his intention. He looked behind, noticed two royal guards behind him, holding at him as if he was a prisoner too.
„What do you think you're doing? Let go of me right now!", his serious voice ordered them, it was his command voice he learnt from his birth on to sound more dominant.
But the two men didn't move an inch from him, their hands were still holding him still. The Emperor finally faced his son, clenching his hands into fists.
„Confine him in his chamber", was his order regarding his own son. He pointed his finger to Chan Tha, „And bring him in the dungeon too. He could be a spy too", was his last command for them before he made his way back in the imperial court.
„Wait Emperor. Why him too? He didn't do anything", his Highness screamed, begging for his father's mercy when he was about to leave and two other guards approached Chan Tha.
The taller man was detained too but he didn't protest for some reason. They brought him in the left direction. Arthit was brought in the opposite direction, he looked behind him to Chan Tha. The man he missed so much was leaving him again. This time he had the feelings they wouldn't meet the third time if they went seperate way again. Because a man accusing as a spy and taken as prisoner, would met his death. The same went for Thura too for deceiving the ruler of this nation.
Chan Tha distanced himself further from him. Arthit's heart screamed in agony, he felt his heart being crushed as if somebody took it in his hand and was squeezing on it. It was even hard to breath. They met again but the happiness didn't last long, now they were forcing apart. While Arthit was suffering from their seperation, the latter didn't even want to look back at him, acting strong as if the seperation didn't hurt him. He was disappointed to part from hin again, felt a huge urge to assure him they would meet again but he tried to ignore this feelings he felt for the first time. Somehow he wasn't concerned about him being captured as a spy. Because he would never die anyway no matter the circumstances.
***************************************
So this is the end of chapter 5 :D What do you think about it? Some guessed that Arthit was Ko Thet Shay and et voila, he was really his the Crown Prince, Arthit ;)
Explanation why nobody noticed the switch:
his Highness sitting next to the emperor was his eunuch that resembled him a little bit.
His parents didn't realize the switch because the eunuch wore a general's hat to hide his face and because as the mother and father of the nation, they needed to stay well mannered like a statue, facing the direction in front of them.
The guards weren't allowed to look up at them anyway.
But the sharp Chan Tha noticed something was wrong from the beginning. Since the doubleganger wasn't the real Arthit, he didn't feel anything towards him :D
