Chapter 14

Like I promised, I finally managed to update it two weeks later... I'll update the other story as soon as I have time. Wait a little bit for me... I hope you'll like this chapter :) (The story continue where Mr. Suthiluck was talking about Kongpob and Arthit with her secretary)

The song is I'll pick you up by Standing Egg (Weighlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo OST)

****************************************

Mrs Suthiluck sat on the chair in front of her desk, listening to her secretary's information he found out about the young man called Arthit Rojnapat. Her best friend Mrs. Ittiporn called her a few hours ago and informed her about Kongpob being too close to a certain Arthit who was one of the staff of the orphagane her son was assigned to work for his social hours. She had to investigate the young man behind Kongpob's back or her son would feel the need to retire and hide everything if there was really something between them like her best friend assumed. But everything she heard till now, sounded like friendship between friends. Even if she didn't like her precious son being friend with a poor man like Arthit, she wouldn't step in for now.

„What about the money he paid for the hospital?", she was curious about the reason he spent such big amount of money for the orphanage.

„Young master Suthiluck donated money because of the young girl's illness. She's in the hospital but the orphanage doesn't have enough money to cover up for her treatment. Due to young master's weak and sensible heart, he paid for them but I heard the orphanage will pay him back the amount he spend for them", the secretary explained her, his face expressionless all the time as if he doesn't have any emotions or he was trying to hide his feelings in front of the fierce Mrs. Suthiluck. She would devour him into pieces if he didn't maintain a serious face and firm look all the time. There was one thing she hated most: If her subordinates are weak. Weakness meant losing for her. If one had weakness than one would do everything to protect and hide his weakness. Weakness could take one down in such fierce bussiness branch nowadays. She would immediately fire the person if she spotted a faint weakness or insecurity in her subordinate's eyes.

Mrs. Suthiluck was proud of her son being generous towards a harmless and pityful child but she was worried about his nature too. She didn't like the fact that he was too kind. If he was too soft than he wouldn't survive in the fierce bussiness branch he was supposed to take over after his father stepped down for his son. It's worrysome indeed... She tapped on her desk, looking at the pictures of Kongpob and Arthit that was scathered in front of her. There were nothing burdensome about those pictures. They only showed Kongpob working, cleaning the kitchen or mopping the ground, Arthit nagging at Kongpob or the latter sulking at his Phee. Even if she didn't like her son being treated like a servant, she had to atmit that there were nothing suspicious about them. But why did the Ittiporn sound worried as they called her? She knew her best friend was careful around her son. Why? Because he knew her weakness. Kong witnessed the murder of her adoptif son she commited a few years ago. Like she said before, everybody would want to protect and hide their weakness they never wanted to be revealed.

„Is there anything else I need to know?"

„It's not relevant but the man Arthit lost his husband a year ago due to a car accident. His husband dona...", he didn't even finish his sentence as she interrupted him, telling him that those information were irrelevant for her.

„It doesn't concern me whether he lost his husband due to an accident or not. I just want to know his relationship with my son...", she reminded him of only telling her the facts she needed to be aware of. As the young man kept silent, she continued speaking. „Are you sure it's everything?", he had to ask and know the answer to it to assure herself that her friend was being paranoid again and trying to insinuate her son.

„Nothing more", his voice remained serious and sure, there was any doubt in his voice.

There was a heavy tension laying in the atmosphere, Mrs. Suthiluck was responsible for such negative air since she was looking at her secretary with serious eyes, trying to intimidate him to make him tell her everything in case of him hiding something from her. However the young secretary was immune to her threat, he kept silent. She gave up then nodded to him. When she dismissed the secretary, the young man went straight to another office work a few meter away from Mrs. Suthiluck's. He knocked on the door, a deep voice echoed from inside, allowing him to enter. The secretary entered the room, revealing himself in front of a middle aged man, freshly shaved as if he just came out of the shower, his too exaggerating expensive cologne smelling until where the secretary was standing. Mr. Suthiluck wore an expensive grey five parted suit, his glasses were over his nose to see clearlier. With a single handwave from the older man, the younger man went to him, keeping a few meters of distance between them.

There were many other pictures scathered on Mr. Suthiluck's desk, it were images of two young men: Kongpob and Arthit. This time Kongpob was seen entering Arthit's flat, the shorter man helping the young heir in his flat by holding his arm around his back. There were other pictures of them standing outside of the hospital too, talking about something before the older man went away to catch a cab for them to leave. Even Aim's appearance at that night was taken on some pictures, talking with Kongpob. Mr. Suthiluck even got the treatment paper of his son's head injury and his hospitalization.

He intertwined his hands together, averting his complete attention to the young man in his front. He was so calm and laid back, nothing like Mrs. Suthiluck who was famous for always spreading fear and insecurities around her staff. „Did you tell my wife the information I gave you?"

„Yes, Mr. Suthiluck. I didn't inform her about Kongpob's injury neither about him spending the night by Mr. Arthit Rojnapat. I'm sure that I was believable enough to make her believe the stories I told her about..."

„Good work, Prem...", he praised him, a little smile appearing on his lips.

The famous and rich Suthiluck thanking a mere human like Prem was like winning lottery for the young man. No false, getting praises from him was more worth than a lottery. It was a rare occasion so he gratefully accepted his gratitude. It brought a little smile on Prem's lips. There was a soothing atmosphere between them, not an intimidating neither suffocating one like before with his wife. Mr. Suthiluck took one picture, Kongpob was cheering happily while Arthit went to catch a cab in front of the hospital on the picture. He felt happy that his son finally smiled in joy, showing his happiness with a little smile on his face. Finally Kongpob found something he could smile and laugh with, someone aside Aim he could spent his time with. It was the first time he witnessed his son smiling and cheering so bright because of a single person. Even if it semeed like a harmless friendship for now, he knew that there was something more between Kongpob and the man called Arthit. There were a kind of air around them. It was love in the air. He was old and experienced enough to realize it before his son.

Mr. Suthiluck was always worried about his son that he would never realize what true happiness meant. Kongpob always acted according to his mother's expectation and only played with girls but it was different with Arthit. The smile he showed in the picture clearly showed how important Arthit Rojnapat was for him. His wife should never found out about them neither about thosepictures. The moment she set her eyes on the pictures that clearly showed how found Kongpob was of Arthit, she would take his only happiness away. Mr. Suthuluck's past wasn't always rosy so he wanted to help his son. Don't misunderstand him. He loved his wife and would always love her just like in the first day they met but he couldn't let her control their son. She could touch everyone but not this young man Arthit Rojnapat. Because he was the only one who conjured a smile in Kongpob's face he never saw before. He was the only one who could make him happy. Kongpob wouldn't be lonely neither act fake anymore with Arthit's help. In case their relationship wouldn't take far, he wanted them to enjoy themselves to its fullest. But he hoped that their love would take them far too.

„Thanks for heliping and siding with me, Prem", again his rare gratitude.

„You're welcome...", Prem couldn't hold back his smile, trying to keep his lips shut into a thin line but they curved up every time he tried to seal them. He loved to see his also serious Mr. Suthiluck change soft whenever he was with his son. That man would do everything for Kongpob. So much did he love him. His only son.

Good job, Prem! I'm proud of you. Prem wanted to pat on his own shoulder for deciding to convey Mr. Suthulick about those pictures first before taking them to his wife. As soon as Mrs. Ittipon called his employer about Kong and she gave him the assignment to inverstigate Arthit Rojnapat, he sent some men to follow and take pictures of them. He was worried about Kongpob's wellbeing so he decided to take the pictures to his father at first. According to Mr. Suthiluck's plan, he should take old pictures about Kong and Arthit quarreling to his wife while he would keep the important ones about them being in better term than before.

Prem was woken up from his daydream as Mr. Suthiluck asked him about more information about Arthit Rojnapat. He began telling him about the young being an orphan but adopted by the Rojnapat in their family. He even mentioned about his adoptif brother P'Nai he began a realtionship with and even married years later. This time Mr. Suthiluck was all ears to listen to Arthit's tragedy. However he didn't recognize P'Nai being his son's donor and Arthit being the man who saved his son by giving up on his husband's heart even though Kong was half responsible for the accident. Why he was clueless about them? His wife had secrets she didn't want her son and her husband to find out about. Those secrets were her weakness. Weakness she had to protect and hide no matter the circumstance.

****

Kongpob already spent five days with Arthit without his mother intervening in their sweet relationship that had to blossom yet. Thanks to his father's quick reasoning, his mother didn't found out about his hidden feelings for Arthit yet. He could explore his heart more and found out about his feeling for the shorter man thanks to his father. It was his father's wish and hope to be with Arthit and enjoy his life after all. Maybe he would make his wish happen some day.

It was already morning, Arthit was preparing a british breakfast for Kongpob and him. He stood in front of the stove, stirring the batter he made for the pancake. The taller man sat on the chair behind him, his eyes directed at only one place, more like on one person. Kongpob couldn't take his eyes from the shorter man, they were following Arthit everywhere he was moving to. There were something shining in his eyes, not sure whether they were some kind of determination or just admiration for the older man. Arthit felt sharp also hungry looking eyes monitoring him, as if he was a prey and the predator was just behind him, ready himself to sneak an attack on him anytime. He felt hot, those sharp eyes were shouting ray of light at him, raising his body temperature. He gulped heavily, had difficulties pouring the batter on the pan. His hand trembled from too much nervousness that he almost poured the batter on the ground instead in the pan.

All the sudden Arthit turned to Kong, holding his fists against his hips, letting out a heavy sight. „I can't cook like this, Kongpob...", he sounded frustrated, not knowing how to save himself from this awkward but also embarrassing situation. His soft voice mumbling, „Get out", it was a command also a begging to let him cook in peace. As Kongpob didn't move at all, he raised his voice but managed to maintain his friendly nature. „Get out, Kongpob! Wait in the living room for me."

Kongpob kept his fist leaning against his cheek, was perflexed why he should leave although he didn't do anything bad this time. „Why?"

The taller man was curious to found out the reason why Arthit was eager to sent him out but the shorter man wasn't ready to deliver him a plausible answer. It was the first time another man spent days in his home he rented with P'Nai before his death. It was always P'Nai's duty to look at him like he would devour him whenever he was preparing food for them to eat. He seemed uncomfortable now that another man was sitting at Nai's place, staring at him. Arthit wasn't just accustomated to this unfamiliar circumstance. Beside he felt like betraying Nai if he let Kong continue gazing at him like that.

Arthit faced somewhere else, scratching at his head, searching for believable excuses, feeling overwhelmed with this situation. „Be... Be... Because you're making me... nervous", the word nervous faintly came out of his mouth that Kong almost missed it. It was the only reply he could give him, the only reason plausible enough to not sound stupid neither paranoid. He didn't want him to think of him as someone who wasn't over his husband's death yet. It was the truth that he couldn't forget his husband till now but he didn't have any intention to forget him anyway since he wouldn't have any more reason to live if he began to delete precious memories of Nai and him. It wasn't like someone else would take his beloved Nai's place in his heart anyway.

The younger man was confused, „I'm not doing anything as sitting here". Persistent to know the truth, he continued teasing his Phee to force the truth out of him, „Why am I making you nervous?", he asked him but fell silent all the sudden. It seemed to make click in his head. His lips curved up, a sly smile appeared when he was sure that he knew the whole truth now. „Am I making you nervous because my presence is too strong to not notice?", his lips curved more up, „Is my charm and handsomeness making you so nervous that you can't concentrate on the food?"

Kongpob's questions made Arthit glare at the man to his opposite, Arthit's eyes burning the flame of destruction, ready to hurt his Nong anytime. The older man threatened to threw the stirrer at him whereupon Kongpob finally dashed out of the kitchen to dodge the attack. He screamed at the escaping Nong to set the table while hiding from him. There weren't any reply coming from Kongpob but Arthit knew that he heard him. He turned to his food that almost burned whereupon he turned it over to cook the other side too.

„Your charm and handsomeness, my ass", Arthit mumbled, a sweet smile appearing on his face. Even if he didn't want to admit it, he had to admit that his Nong's presence was making him indeed nervous. Not because of his charm or his handsomeness but he had something on him that he couldn't figure till now. He fell deep in thougth but ceased with the thinking as he caught himself in something he wouldn't admit in front of Kongpob for his sake... Wait! Did I just call him charming and handsome? No way! He's not handsome! He's... He's... At that moment he caught himself not being able to describe Kongpob. Was he handsome or not? Had he a charm he couldn't take his attention from or not? What was Kong to him? Now he was questioning himself more and more about his Nong but couldn't answer those question to himself. He was aware of the younger man now. Once he was more aware of his presence, he wouldn't be able to ignore him anymore. It was a fact he wouldn't deny anymore someday. A feeling he would want to get rid of but would fail miserably if the time came.

Arthit shook his head to bane every thought about Kongpob out his mind, concentring on his pancake instead. Meanwhile the taller man was setting the table as ordered, taking out plates and glasses out of the shelves. His hand touched the picture frame Arthit hide from him the other day. Even though his Phee clearly warned him not to evade his privacy by touching his belongings, his curiosity was too overwhelming to ignore it right now. He took the picture frame out of the shelve, not sure whether to take a look or not. As his curiosity overwhelmed him, he turned the picture to take a look at it. It was an image of Arthit and another man, both man couldn't keep their hands from each other. Arthit showed a smile he never gave him before. It was a lovely, sweet smile. The other man had a handsome but friendly face, his smile let him look like a lovely person. His Phee wore white suit while the taller man was dressed in black suit, they were smiling happily as if they wished to never be seperated.

Something in the picture caught Kongpob's attention. It was the rings around their annularies. Wedding rings? Kongpob came to the right conclusion: P'Arthit was married before? Kong used the past term „was" because he knew that their relation belonged to their past. P'Arthit wasn't wearing his ring anymore and he never saw the man in the picture either. Maybe it was a painful past so Arthit hide it from him to not talk about it. Somehow he couldn't accept the reality he just found out about. Not because his Phee preferred men over women neither because he was a married man but because he seemed happy to be beside that unknown man. His heart pounded the longer he stared at the picture. It hurts... Kongpob touched his heart, exactely the place that was hurting. His chest felt tight, it was hard to gulp and breath under this unexpected circumstance. He was angry, his anger raising every second. It was more like jealousy but he wasn't aware of it right now. A heavy sight escaped his mouth, he placed the picture frame just like the older man left it before.

His head ached, his heart in pain, his whole body feeling weak. He admitted that he hated to see both smiling. He hated to see Arthit being happy with a man who wasn't him. He hated to see another man touching his Phee, something he didn't manage to do till now. Somehow he wished Arthit would show this smile only to him. Why? Why am I so affected by that picture? His fingers racked through his hair, he was desperated and confused at the same time, not knowing why he was so damn angry right now.

„Damn it", he sweared.

He let the cutleries beside the plates on the bale, shrugging his shoulders and forcing himself to forget the picture of Arthit and this handsome stranger who. I shouldn't be mad neither disappointed at Arthit. It's his life so he can be with whoever he wants to be. His answers to comfort himself didn't help him either to calm down. Arthit entered the living room, holding a glass filled with maple syrup and a plate filled with pancakes, there were few strawberries placed on the pancakes. But there was a gloomy atmosphere laying in the air, something he didn't expect to feel when approaching his Nong. Kongpob didn't even notice him standing behind him. The shorter man was worried about him, asking himself whether he was in pain or not.

Even though he promised himself to forget how happy Arthit smiled in the image, he was too deep in thought that he didn't realize his Phee standing behind him, keeping his head down, staring at space. A warm hand touched his back, the gentle touch pulled him out of his daydream, bringing him back to Arthit. He turned around to find Arthit standing beside him, Arthit's eyes glued at him as if he would find a hint about his wellbeing if he kept gazing at him like that. It was the second time Arthit looked with such worried eyes at him. He loved to see him have eyes only for him. Kong loved to see his Phee worried about him but today he couldn't feel any happiness. He felt more like sad but something he didn't expect, happened all the sudden.

Arthit touched his head, „Are you in pain?", his voice so soft like never before. His eyes wandered around the taller man's face, searching for every hint to find an answer. He caressed at the bandage that covered the wound on his head.

Kongpob was staring at him. Yeah, I'm in great pain... I'm hurt because of you... Why didn't you tell me about your husband? Why am I feeling betrayed to see you standing and smiling to that man I don't know about? Those were the accusations he wanted to threw at him but his Phee's shining puppy eyes looking at him, prevented him to bore through the older man's heart with those questions. He didn't want to hurt P'Arthit so he just kept his mouth tightly shut, rubbing his head against Arthit's hand.

„Please, tell me if there's something wrong...", Arthit voiced his worry. „Should I take you to the hospital?", the shorter man was ready to leave for hospital but Kongpob holding onto his hand, prevented him from distancing himself from him.

Kongpob hold onto Arthit's hand, placing their hands on his injury, closing his eyes and enjoying the rare moment. He could cry from overwhelming feelings, P'Arthit being honest with himself and showing his worrying side to him, felt like heaven. A heaven he would never reach since the latter had another man in his heart. A heaven so close yet far beyond his reach. It's warm, P'Arthit's arm. The older man blushed, his face turning hot the longer Kongpob hold onto him.

„I'm fine...", he opened his eyes. „I just wanted to see your reaction if I act hurt", he smiled.

Arthit yanked his hand out of his grip, slapping on his head, reprimanding that he shouldn't joke about pain so easily or something bad would happen to him someday and nobody would belived him just like the boy who cried wolf. He hated silly games like that but he couldn't be angry at his Nong either. There was something about Kongpob that he couldn't be angry at him not matter the circumstance. Kongpob cried fake tears, mumbling that it wasn't necessary of Arthit to hit him since he was the victim and already injured. When Arthit went to his seat, Kongpob made a brief, sad expression but he giggled afterward since he didn't want the older man to find out about his sadness.

They sat on the chair around the table, Kongpob's mouth already drooling when looking at the delicious breakfast Arthit prepared for them. He wanted to take a pice of the pancake but Arthit slapped his hand away, asking him if he washed his hands already. Kongpob lied that he washed them a while ago but Arrthit didn't believe him, ordering him that he should go and wash them or he wouldn't eat a piece of it. Kongpob was hungry, his stomach rumbling already. He ran in the bathroom, washing his hands just like he was told while complaining about his Phee that he was a tyran. After finishing cleaning his hands, he returned in the living room, sitting on the chair and taking a piece of the pancake on his plate, pouring maple syrup onto it. He began digging in the food to fill his hungry and nosy stomach.

I'm sorry but P'Arthit isn't yours anymore. He will be mine someday. I'll make him forget you. It was a promise to himself, to Arthit and to the latter's husband he wasn't aware of that his heart was in him, keeping him alive.

****

Kongpob and Arthit visited the hospital that was responsible of taking care of the taller man's wound on his head. He didn't went to the hospital Maya was laying since he didn't want the nosy staff to inform his parents about his injury. If he wanted to let the matter discreet than it was necessary to search for another doctor to treat his wound. He came here since the doctors here were known for keeping their confidentiality.

They were in the treatment's room, Arthit was next to him since he was allowed to be beside him since Kongpob gave him as his guardian. The door got open whereupon the young female doctor entered the room, sitting in front of them. Both wai-ed her, Kongpob smiling at her but he seemed worried at her too due to the dark circles around her eyes.

„Phee you look exhausted...", it was the taller man's first impression about Aim's eldest sister named Malie.

Malie sighed, coming to his side after wearing the gloves. „Doctors can make many money but we're putting our lives at high risk for treating patients without having proper break and holidays", it was her answer to his comment about her look.

Arthit pitied her but he could retaliate to her sitaution. He wasn't a doctor but he was in the same condition. He needed to work everyday just to have enough money to make his living, paying the rent and helping out his family and the children in the orphanage. He didn't have many day free, not like a certain person in this room. His eyes averted to Kong, he grunted at him, calling him lazy for having too much free days. He wasn't aware of Kongpob's situation but he could guess that he was a jobless freeloader who didn't have to worry for his future. Kongpob had a bright future ahead. He was born with silver spoon in his mouth and would never find out how desperation and frustration could change one's life. He would never knew how sad it could be to starve oneself because one didn't have enough money to buy food. His parents were rich after all.

However Kongpob couldn't retaliate to both of them because he never worked himself to death before. He would never know how exhaustion could make one wish to threw oneself on the bed and fall asleep after having a hard working day.

She undressed the bandage, taking a closer look at the wound on his head. After having a proper look at it, she let him know that the wound was healing perfectly, telling him that a certain guardian did a good work taking care of the patient. Kongpob bragged that the certain man took proper care of him while spending the days in that person's house. The older man felt confounded by Kong's comment. Of course Malie knew the person was Arthit Rojnapat, the man her nephew gave as his guardian. She was curious but it wasn't her place to ask too much question. Kongpob came to her because he didn't want his mother to find out about his injury. Beside there was something going on between Arthit and him. It was too obvious, there was a romantic atmosphere around them, letting them look like a couple that found love just a few days ago. A young couple whose love would blossom soon. It's sweet to be young.

Malie was happy for Kongpob that he find someone as lovely as Arthit but she envied them too, wishing she had find her love too. She glanced at the wedding ring around her annulary, regretting her choice for marrying the man her mother proposed to her for a beneficial reason. She married a man she didn't even love. A man who didn't love her either so he cheated on her with different women. She didn't wish the same for her only younger brother Aim neither for her nephew Kongpob. Malie wished them to find true love and fight for their love. I guess I watched too much dramas. They corrupted my cold heart...

„It's fine now", she said after desinfecting the wound. „The wound looks fine now and it's healing process is really amazing. You don't need any treatment anymore, Nong", she told him but assured him that he should be careful of stairs because they could be insidious if one took one false step.

Arthit and Kongpob wai-ed respectfully while bidding farewell to their female senior, they took the way for outside, waiting before the street to catch a cab.

„I can go home now... My mom will become suspiscious if I stay out for too long", the taller man stretched his arms, talking without thinking about the consequences he could cause in Arthit with his careless comment.

Arthit's voice turned gentle, „I see...", he mumbled faintly.

Kongpob realized the sadness in his voice, wanted to ask him whether he would miss him and their time together but Arthit's stomach rumbled. It was already noon so the shorter man was hungry. His stomach didn't knew mercy when it came to lunch that was extremely important for him. Lunch turned important for him the day as he realized that he needed to eat only one meal a day to save enough money to survive for the month. Sometime he had to eat only lunch but skip breaktfast and dinner. Life wasn't always easy for him. He searched for proper work but didn't get any offer because he didn't graduate from university since he didn't want to be a burden for the Rojnapat family who did already enough for him. Because his parents had to provide for their eldest son's university and save money for the youngest future, he refused to visit any university. Even if his high school degree didn't give him any proper work, he didn't regret the decision to not accept the Rojnapat's help. But now life became harder the day as his husband who was the bread winner in their relationship, died. Somehow he was regretting his choice for relaying too much on his husband.

„Hungry?", Kongpob asked him.

Arthit was so deep in thought that he didn't heard Kongpob calling for him, reminiscing about the precious memory with P'Nai when the latter would come home late at night, bringing him street food and his favourite pink milk to surprise him. Those little romantic gesture were the reason why he would never forget his P'Nai. A warm hand touched his shoulder, pulling him out of his daydream. He turned to the source where the voice was calling for him.

„Are you hungry?"

„Yeah...", he admitted it but could never tell him that he didn't have enough money to buy some food from the street. „I'm just a little bit hungry. I'll eat if we're at home", he decided to make some ramen at home instead of embarrassing himself by showing that he was too poor to buy food for himself.

Arthit approached the street to catch for a cab but Kongpob hold on onto him by grabbing at his wrist, preventing him from leaving too soon.

„I'll treat you for lunch", the younger man offered without having any second thought. He knew the sad situation Arthit was in as he saw the latter bringing some food from a restaurant he worked at in the weekend to eat at home with him. He was very well aware that his Phee didn't want to eat out because he didn't have money but he didn't want to ask him out to brag with money in front of him. His offer shouldn't redicule the shorter man nor show him the big gap between poor and rich, more like between Arthit and him. He just asked him out to thank him for always taking care of him in the five days. It was the little gesture that Arthit didn't expect from him to do. A little friendly gesture that would gain him the older man's trust.

Actually it was in his nature to be angry and defend himself by asking him that Kong knew he was poor so he offered him to treat him out but Arthit kept silent this time. He was speechless from the smile the taller man was showing him right now. It was unusual from Arthit to stay calm instead of snapping out at him. He couldn't reprimand his Nong that he shouldn't treat him like a beggar. This time he nodded, mumbling a „thank you."

Kongpob didn't expect him to accept his offer so easily since the latter was known as bad tempered, especially towards him. He was surprised at first but he smiled brighter, showing his complete white teeth that was too shining for Arthit. The younger man was overjoyed, couldn't hide his joy as he raised his eyebrown many times, holding tighter at him and pulling him gently to the street. Kongpob felt too happy, humming a song, acting like a teeny who managed to get the first date with his crush. Actually Arthit didn't know the song he was humming but actually Kongpob wasn't singing but mumbling some words through humming with the melody of love like this by SS501. Those words were: I finaly got my first date with P'Arthit... It's need to be perfect. I'll take him to the fanciest restaurant to make him happy... Maybe he'll... Kongpob stopped himself from thinking too much about the dirty thought swirling around in his mind or else he would make a mistake by voicing his thought. He was thinking maybe his Phee would thank him by giving him a kiss. A kiss, huh? I really want a kiss from him, huh? He shrugged off, leaving that wish aside for the time being.

„Wait...", Arthit mumbled too faintly for Kongpob to hear him.

The taxi they called for, parked in front of them. As they had to climb in the car, Arthit placed his hand above Kongpob's hand that tightly hold onto him, refusing to let him go. The shorter man suggested that he would choose a restaurant for them to eat out if the taller man agreed to it. Actually Kong wanted to take him to a fancy restaurant for their first date but he couldn't decline Arthit's pleading either. His Phee sounded too cute if he was speaking softly so he gave in to him.

They climbed in the cab whereupon Arthit gave the address to the driver. They drove to a restaurant that was located in the busy street of Bangkok, near Siam center. It didn't take them long to arrive at their destination. Kongpob and Arthit exited the car after the taller man paid for the taxi's fare, they waited in front of the also called restaurant. Kong was flabbergasted, it wasn't a restaurant he expected but it was more like a dinner where one would eat quick and leave through the backdoor to let other guests find seat. There was nothing fancy, expensive nor impressiv about it. It didn't have any beautiful view like the restaurant he preferred and usually visited but was just located in the middle of the busy street. Because it was suggested from his crush, he couldn't tell his dislike to places like this.

„Why here?", he forced a smile on his face, not wanting Arthit to find out about his true feeling right now.

„Come on, we won't find a place if we don't hurry up", Arthit grabbed at his wrist, dashing in the restaurant, pulling him forward with him.

Kongpob looked at their hands intertwining, smiling. They entered the restaurant, it was filled with many different kind of people, high school and university students, many workers who came here for lunch break and other guests. There was an amazing volume in the room, it was a mess. Everyone was speaking criss-crossed, friends were talking to each other and laughing. There was only a table available to seat. There was another couple who had their eyes on the table with two chairs around it. Arthit who always turned into a beast when he was hungry, hold tighter onto Kongpob, yanking him forwards while running to the seats available, having a race with the couple who ran towards it too. But Arthit was faster, he quickly sat down on one chair, forcing Kong to seat to his opposite. The other couple grunted at them, calling them thieves for stealing their places but they left them to wait aside for available chairs.

„There's an all-you-can-eat today", Arthit explained.

Ah, I see! Kongpob thought that he finally understood why Arthit choose this restaurant. Today was an-all-you-can-eat-lunch and he would fill his hungry stomach but wouldn't pay much at the end. Kongpob thought Arthit was stingy about money but he was oblivious to the real reason his Phee brought him here. Arthit didn't want him to spend much money on him so he preferred to eat in a cheap dinner instead in an expensive restaurant. He knew that his Nong would exaggerate with his choice and take him somewhere expensive so he decided to take the iniative for his Nong's sake, more like for his money's sake. Arthit didn't like to waste money so this dinner was more than enough for him.

After they settled down in their seats, they went to the front to pick their food. There were many dishes and side dishes also meat and seafood on the big table. Arthit took two plates and cutleries, giving it to his Nong who was behind him. Kong enjoyed this moment very much, Arthit was making sure that he had his plates full with food to fill his stomach. It wasn't the kind of perfect first date Kongpob wished for but it was more than enough as long as he was enjoying it. Arthit seemed happy so it didn't matter whether the restaurant was fancy or not.

They took each food on their plate if the dish caught their attention. A young woman stood beside the big table, explaining the ingredients put in the many dishes if one wished for more explaination. She remained friendly but didn't look happy with this kind of work. She smiled brighter when she realized the handsome man beside a short man who came in her direction. She showed her beautiful side, fixing her staff cloths and her hairs, waiting for the young man to approach her. However her smile dropped when she noticed that the tall man only had eyes for the short man, smiling happily to the latter who was more cute than handsome. The short man even stole her work, explaining the dishes to the handsome man. Her eyes followed them till they picked their food they wanted to eat, she even forgot the couple who was asking for explaining about a dish they didn't knew much about.

While Arthit returned to their table, Kongpob took another direction after placing his plate and glass on the table. There was a drink stall, he ordered two drinks for them then returned to his Phee. Arthit's eyes widened in surprised when he realized the pink milk in his front. It was the drink Kongpob bought for him. He blushed, looking aside to hide his too red face that was too embarrassing for him. Kongpob didn't miss the cute reaction of his Phee, he couldn't hold back his laughter so he chuckled. Arthit hitting on his shoulder, forced him to hold back his laughter for the time being.

They ate in silence but the taller man digged in a few mintes later. The food of commoners he didn't knew much about, tasted too delicious. He couldn't take his hands from the tasty food, swallowing it without chewing much on it. Arthit chuckled, telling him to slow down but his Nong didn't listen to him whereupon the food got stucked in his throat. Kongpob gulped his drink down to swallow the food. Arthit went to get more hot meatballs for them but bumped onto the woman beside the big table when he was on his way back to his place. The hot food poured on his hand but also on the woman's white working shirt. Arthit ignored his own pain, bowing his head down and aplogizing to her. He gave her tissues to wipe off the stain from her shirt.

However Arthit couldn't apologize properly as Kongpob immediately left his food, running to him to see if he scalded his hand. He took Arthit's red hand in his palm, looking at his hand to see if he had any injury. He blew cold wind suddenly on Arthit's red palm. The atmosphere in the room changed suddenly, everyone's eyes were on the two young men, ignoring the young woman who was hurt too. The taller man was worried, he was tender and passionate towards the shorter man, blowing wind onto his fan's injured hand. The girls were screaming inside, already daydreaming about boys love, apparantly there were some fujoshi and even fudanshi among them. Some even took pictures of them.

Arthit blsuhed, his whole face taking the colour red, his body temperature raising. He felt too hot, he blinked many times. Kongpob and Arthit seemed to be in their own universe, forgetting their surroundings that was observing every steps of them. Arthit couldn't take his eyes from his Nong, his shining eyes seemed glued at Kongpob, bond to never take them from him. All the sudden something he never expected to happen, happened: His chest tightened, his heart was beating faster, thutump, thuthump, thuthump... Why this strange feeling? Why do I have the feeling that I'm betraying P'Nai? Kongpob was fixed on blowing cold wind on his Phe's scalded hand to ease the pain that he missed Arthit's sweet reaction.

There was a calm atmosphere in the air, not even a single tension between them. One could say that love was in the air. Even imaginary wind blew passed them, letting chill running down their spine and their hair waiving around. When the shorter man was finally aware of their surrounding, he yanked his hand out of Kongpob's grip.

„I'm fine...", he said. He turned to face the young woman he just injured but she was nowhere to be found.

Apparantly she ran in the kitchen to change into another cloths to work again. Arthit was mad at himself for being careless, scratching at his head. He almost yelled at Kongpob for being stupid enough to take care of him while ignoring the woman who was more hurt than him. He grunted at him, wishing to hit him but he couldn't use violence when too much attention were on them right now. Kongpob was confused, couldn't understand why his Phee was angry at him although he was worried about him. They returned to their seats, some fangirls were still staring at them, commenting how cute they were just now. Some even mumbled that they found new ideas for their bl fanfiction they needed to update later.

The oblivious Kongpob didn't like the calm atmosphere between them, he was stealing many glances of Arthit the whole time. Somehow he couldn't concentrate on the food anymore, it didn't taste delicious either as long as he didn't knew the reason why Arthit was calm.

„Are you alright?", he asked but didn't get any answer from him.

However Arthit was deep in thought, reflecting on his hard thumping heart. Why? Why am I feeling and acting so strange in front of him? In front of this Kongpob? He touched his heart to calm down his pounding heart. Please, calm down heart... Don't turn me in a cheater... As if I'm betraying P'Nai by allowing my heart to beat fast in my Nong's presence. I don't want to feel like that towards Kongpob. I don't want him to take P'Nai's place.

„Are you so eager to get rid of me because I evaded your space at home?", the question came from Kongpob. He wanted to say something to break the torturing silence.

„Yes!", Arthit finally broke his silence, raising his voice at him. He was panting, his hot breath brushing against the younger man's face. Somehow he seemed angry at his Nong for an unknown reason. He calmed down after staring for too long at Kongpob, the latter's sad and also worried expression let his anger fade away. A soft sight escaped his mouth.

Kongpob raised his eyebrown, „Then I won't leave today nor tomorrow...", he began digging in his food again.

Arthit's eyes widened in shock, he shook his head. „No way, you'll leave today! You're a human dirt. You always leave a mess in my room even if I just cleaned the house."

Kongpob shrugged off his shoulders, eating his food in peace. The calm atmosphere returned between them, the tension finally disappearing. Arthit sulked, stealing his Nong's meat from his plate as revenge for dirtying his flat everyday. This time Kongpob couldn't let that matter slide, he took a fish from Arthit's plate, placing it in his mouth and eating it to provoke him. Because he was too greedy, karma took revenge on him. The fish was too spicy, it burnt his mouth. He searched for a drink but he emptied his coffee a while ago. His attention caught on a pink milk. When the shorter man noticed his intention, he wanted to hide his drink but he was too slow. Kongpob grabbed at his drink then drank from the same spot Arthit drank from just now. It was their second indirect kiss. Their indirect kiss both of them wasn't aware of. Arthit couldn't hold back his laughter while looking at Kongpob having hard time to breath properly after eating the spicy side dish. While Kongpob was fighting with his breath, the shorter man was fighter with himself, trying to hold back his laughter only to fail miserably. Even though he was laughing at him, Kongpob found his chuckle too sweet to be truth. It sounded like music in his ears. Music that should never cease to play. Music he would like to listen to forever.

***

It was 4 p.m. in the morning, Arthit had knocking-off from his second part time in the pub. After bidding farewell with his colleagues, he took the oppossite direction to the bus station but he froze on the spot when he heard someone shouting his name. He turned to the source where the familiar voice came from. Kongpob was standing on the other side of the street, waiving at him to have his attention on him. The taller man waiving at him while calling his name, reminded him of the little Maya who cheered up whenever he entered the orphanage. Arthit facepalmed, looking around to see whether someone realized the rich Suthiluck rediculing himself. Is he an idiot or just plan oblivious? He decided to ignore him, continuing his way to the bus station.

Kongpob couldn't let him escape so easily. He raised his voice, shouting, „P'Arthit, your boyfriend is here to pick you up... Darling, I'm here...", he said too loud to provoke him.

This words that were lies finally caught Arthit's attention, he waited on the spot, turning to face his supposed to be fan. Flames of destruction burnt in his eyes. This time Kongpob made sure that pedestrians heard him, they were giggling and poiting at them. Arthit blushed in embarassment, mumbling that he would kill him today. He went aside to cross the street over to him, stomping on the ground, ready to kill his Nong this night. A car drove towards them, the driver stepping on the accelerator instead of stepping on the brake. As Arthit arrived in the middle of the street, the car suddenly hit him, running over over. Arthit hit his head on the windshield, falling hard on the ground, laying there motionless. Kongpob froze on the spot, his body refusing to move from shock. The driver drove away without taking a look at the man she just ran over.

Kongpob's hands were trembling, his lips moving to say something but the words wouldn't come out. The shock was too profound. To see P'Arthit laying on the ground, not moving at all took every senses from him. His heart stopped beating for a second, he staggered to him. He ran after taking a few steps forwards, kneeling in front of Arthit, bending him up, laying his head on his lap. There were blood, too much coming out of the wound on Arthit's head. He touched his cheek, calling him but the latter didn't react to his call.

Tears filled his eyes, „Help...", Kong said softly. When he recognized some gazer staring at them instead of helping, he screamed louder, „Help me... Please help...", tears rolled across his face. His heart was in pain, his entire body hurting as if thousand knives were cutting through him piece by piece. It was hard to breath.  Arthit being unconscious, made the world spinning around him. His mind went blank, it ceased to function with Arthit laying motionless in his arms. This time he finally came to a conclusion. He was aware of a certain feeling now. A feeling he felt for the first time. A feeling he never expected to feel for the shorter man.
