[XLVI]

"Do you even know where we're going to go?" Taehyung questioned the younger who had a satisfied, happy smile on his face. Being away from that castle with his favorite person made him feel so free and content.

"I know some places." Jungkook told, the two now ending up in the field where they wanted to look for Pete. The Prince really only cared about Taehyung but he knew how much the said male liked that bird.

"Pete!" The older yelled into the night sky. "Me and Kook are leaving! Get your little birdy butt over here!"

Whenever the two were together the bird would always be with them or near them, but it's been different ever since the night of the ball. Taehyung frowned, doing a 360 turn around the grass field to see if he could spot him anywhere.

Taehyung crossed his arms while staring upwards. "Stop being so stubborn, we're not leaving without you."

Nothing.

"If you don't get on my shoulder by the count of three, I'm not going to buy you a big fancy cage like I was planning on."

Jungkook and the black haired both stood in silence, waiting for the bird to fly over from a direction.

"One.."

Nothing.

"Two.."

Nothing.

"Three."

And yet again, nothing.

Taehyung pouted and uncrossed his arms while turning to the Prince. "Why isn't he coming?" He questioned with the same pout on his face. Jungkook was quite confused as well.

Silence again as the older kept looking all over the place for the dove who was no where to be seen. Jungkook was looking as well, and unlike Taehyung he actually spot something that was lying in the grass. He wasn't sure of what it was, until he got a closer look making his eyes widen.

"T-tae-"

"Wait! Maybe he's playing hide and seek." The said older interrupted, walking over to a tree and sneakily looking up into the branches. "Gotcha!" He excitedly exclaimed thinking the dove was there, but he wasn't.

"That's not fair it's so dark out." He pouted once again, walking back to the younger who was frozen still. The latter raised an eyebrow.

"Kook are you okay?"

Before Jungkook could even say a word, Taehyung's whole face lit up and his eyes brightened making the Prince confused. The said male began waving into the sky with a happy expression on his face.

"Pete! There you are!" Taehyung called out as he watched a white dove fly near the stars in the sky. He waited for the dove to fly over to them but it didn't, it only kept flying across the sky until it was no longer visible.

"Pete..?"  He murmured, hesitant on why Jungkook hasn't said a word.

"That wasn't Pete bubs.." Jungkook suddenly spoke. Taehyung directed his gaze towards the Prince who was staring at something in the grass. Sighing, the older made his way over to the younger.

"What do you mean that wasn't Pete? I literally just-"

Taehyung abruptly paused his sentence once his gaze took ahold of what Jungkook was staring at. His heart felt like it started falling, before he grabbed ahold of himself and laughed it off.. even though the dove was laying flat on the ground with an arrow through it's chest.

"Kook you're silly.. that's not Pete I just saw him, he just didn't see us. That's just a random dove." Taehyung commented, denying everything. There wasn't a bone in his body that actually believed his precious dove was the one in the grass.

Jungkook sighed while looking towards the ground. While Taehyung was still in denial, the younger had already figured out who had done it.

"Here let's go find him he couldn't have flown too far." The black haired male stated, grabbing Jungkook's hand and trying to drag him along with him. He frowned when the said male was resisting to leave.

"We need to bury him Tae.." The Prince mumbled making Taehyung shake his head 'no'. "It's not him though." He replied.

Taehyung stood still waiting for Jungkook to say that he was joking, but he never got that sentence in return. He continued shaking his head no while staring at the bird that was in the grass.

"That's NOT Pete Jungkook, do you hear me?"

The said younger kept hanging his head low, waiting for the moment Taehyung would break down because he knew he would. He didn't want to lie to him and say that wasn't their dove, but they had to bury him together. It was the right thing to do.

Taehyung was grabbing Jungkook's hands, so the younger could feel when his hands began shaking meaning the latter was about to cry.

"N-no." He stuttered, gripping the youngers hands tighter. "No, no, no!"

The Prince stayed silent as the younger leaned his head into the crook of his neck. He wanted to murder the person that did this so bad, how dare they hurt Taehyung after everything he has been through.

"W-who would d-do this?" Taehyung stuttered into Jungkook's neck, the younger closing his eyes before letting go of the older and slowly walking over to the staked dove.. carefully pulling the arrow out of it's body and snapping the object in half using his knee out of anger and rage.

"This is Jimin's arrow." He knew because when he used to do archery with the said male, these were the arrows he always used.

Taehyung tightened the muscles around his eyebrows as he looked at Jungkook, and back at the dove. There was no way he just lost another thing close to him.

God, haven't I lost enough..?  He questioned in his mind as he let tears run down his face. He hated crying every time something like this happened, which was too often. So the black haired forced himself to stop crying, kneeled onto the ground, and aggressively began trying to dig a hole while forcing his tears back.

"Let's just get this over with again." He blankly mumbled as he dug a small hole, big enough for the dove to fit in.

Jungkook heartbrokenly watched the latter, not knowing what to do. His hatred towards Jimin was higher than it's ever been right now, he could tell Taehyung was trying to hold back his crying making him even more sad.

The Prince carefully placed the dead bird into his arms and walked over to the older, kneeling down right next to him. Once Taehyung felt the youngers presence by him, he wasn't able to hold back his tears anymore before letting everything out.

"This was s-supposed to be a g-good day, why can't I just have one h-happy day.."

Jungkook watched as Taehyung longingly stared at the second grave dug that day. He sighed before lightly setting the dove into the hole, making the older cry even harder.

Both were sitting criss-crossed on the grass now, knees touching as they both kept trying to hold their emotions back as much as possible. It was crazy how much they kept loosing, what were they doing to deserve all of this karma? That's what they were both thinking in this moment.

Silence and sobs surrounded the two, that is until Taehyung reached into his back pocket and pulled out a certain letter. Jungkook gazed over at the paper before the black haired began speaking.

"T-this is the letter f-from the day my h-house burned down.. I want you to r-read it." Taehyung stuttered out, looking at the Prince before handing him the letter.

Jungkook locked eyes with the latter before looking down at the crumpled up note, words being written after the last as he scanned over everything. Reading every word carefully. Taehyung nervously watched as the youngers eyes would widen at certain sentances.

Once he was done reading it, Jungkook froze up and didn't move a muscle.. that is before turning his head to face the dove in the grave, and then towards the love of his life who was smiling through his tears.

"That's why I love h-him so much Kook.. he always came b-back for us no m-matter what."

"Baby.." Jungkook frowned, reaching in to hug the older who wasn't smiling anymore. He knew as long as he had Jungkook he'd be okay, but Pete was important to him too.. really important in fact. He was his best friend.

After minutes long of mourning, eventually the Prince convinced Taehyung they needed to cover him as they stood up. Before covering up the hole, the said latter placed the letter inside the grave along with Pete.

"Sleep well best friend.. thank you for the fun while it lasted." Taehyung calmly told, softly side glaring Jungkook who was about to cover up the hole but not until he got a few words out as well.

The Prince walked a little closer to the grave than the latter was and sat down so whatever he said Taehyung wouldn't hear.

"Thanks for everything you've done you dumb bird." He smiled while whispering. "I hope you find peace and help out someone else in heaven, I've never really realized how much I appreciate you until now. You were always there for my baby when he needed a friend, and you were there for me when I fucked shit up." Jungkook chuckled, his smile fading before saying his last goodbyes.

"Hopefully we'll all reunite someday. Thank you, Pete.."

The Prince stood up from where he was sitting, and walked back to the black haired before intertwining their hands. Eventually the pair picked up their bags and slowly headed to their next destination, a soldier lost in battle.

It was silent, but it wasn't an awkward silence. It was more of a grieving silence, both having so much to think about that happened that day. Although, maybe it was for the better. Maybe all of this mourning made the two stronger, them being able to overcome anything.

But none the less, they both know the sadness from this day would eventually pass. Their company with each other being able to mend the pain. Because in reality, the only thing they needed to survive was each other even if people they loved were lost.

They are each others happiness, which was all that mattered.
