[XXIII]
"Taehyung!" Jungkook kept yelling hoping that the said male would listen to him. He already knew that the chance of his house being on fire was very high, which meant an even higher risk of the latter getting hurt which he most definitely didn't want happening.
Taehyung kept running, and running, and running knowing that the Prince behind him was telling him to stop and turn back. But it was too late before that because seconds later the black haired male was standing in front of the house he worked so hard to get, burning down brick by brick.
"Fuck.." The Prince whispered to himself once he saw the house and Taehyung's wobbly legs. He noticed the older was about to collapse causing him to quickly run over to him, catching him before he fell and both dropping to their knees.
The house was the last place the fire got to since the brush behind it had already been burned. The only thing left standing was one small corner of the house which Taehyung had never been in.
"It's okay Tae, it'll be okay.."
Jungkook really tried his best in reassuring the elder, it wasn't something he particularly knew how to do since he's never cared for someone so much until now. The latter just shook his head 'no' as tears strolled down his face.
"B-but my m-mom and dad.. t-they- I-" Taehyung couldn't even finish his sentence because it was too hard to think about. "A-and my house, I- I don't h-have anywhere t-to live now.. I w-worked so hard to l-live here."
"I'm so sorry Tae." Was all the Prince could say while the two sat down on the pavement in each others arms, watching the house burn down.
Jungkook quickly removed an arm from Taehyung to wipe away a tear that had fell from his eye, placing his arm right back around him. It was so hard to see the latter so sad and upset since he was always such a happy and positive person.
The flames slowly began disappearing only to leave scattered remains of the house. Now since there was no more sound of fire the only sound that could be heard were Taehyung's quiet whimpers as he buried his face into the crook of Jungkook's neck.
The Prince sighed as he closed his eyes, opening them back up to see the dove flying overhead. His eyes travelled every motion of the bird until it landed on the last standing corner of the house, the one that Taehyung has never been in.
Pete stood still on a stool that was placed in the corner, walking around in circles hoping that either both or one of the two would come over to the area.
What does that fucking bird want right now The prince thought to himself as he watched the dove walk around in circles on the stool. Jungkook raised his gaze a bit until he could see that Pete was standing on something that looked like an envelope.
"Tae." Jungkook whispered as he softly pulled the said males head from the crook of his neck, softly smiling at the latter and wiping away his tears with his thumbs. "Come with me." The younger slowly picked Taehyung up off the ground who was still quivering his lips, not even looking back at the burnt down house.
"Hey, look at me." The Prince told, eyes growing concerned once he saw the elder open his eyes which seemed sadder than ever. "Don't worry about your house okay? I'll find somewhere nice for you to stay, I promise."
Taehyung only closed his eyes again, opening them up to see Pete still walking in circles.
"W-what's t-that?"
Jungkook watched as the elder pointed to the envelope he was thinking of before. "I don't know.." The Prince mumbled, beginning to walk towards the stool. Even in such a situation he couldn't hold a small lip smile back when Taehyung tightly grabbed ahold of his pinky.
The two made their way to the stool causing the dove to fly away. Jungkook used his free hand to pick up the envelope which had some dust on it but other than that it didn't burn a bit.
Taehyung's grip on the youngers pinky tightened once he saw she shocked look on the Prince's face as he read the front of the envelope. "W-what is it?" He worriedly questioned.
Jungkook kept quiet as he hesitated before handing the envelope to the latter who quickly grabbed a hold of it, and then the same look on the youngers face appeared on his once he read the front.
"To Kim Taehyung,
From Mom and Dad"
-
Taehyung didn't let go of the Prince's pinky all throughout their walk home and once they entered back in the castle. The letter was stuffed away in his backpack, he thought he should sit down and read it another time when he was more calm.
"Hey." Jungkook softly said causing the elders attention to direct to him. "You okay? Wait sorry, that's a dumb question.."
The worry on Jungkook's face grew once Taehyung didn't respond. "Is there anything I can do for you? I can put on a movie we could watch, I could go pick up some food, I can make you tea even though you probably make it better than me.."
"N-no.." The latter mumbled.
"Okay, I'm sorry-"
"Just-" Taehyung started again, looking Jungkook in the eyes who had all of his attention on him. "Don't go away from me.."
"Taehyung, I promise I-" Before the Prince could get his sentence through one of the maids came running up to the two with fear in her eyes.
"Oh my Prince Jungkook! I saw you just got back home, you must've got back before the fire began!"
The said male noticed once the woman mention the fire Taehyung pursed his lips into a line, obviously trying not to break down again. Jungkook shook his head and let go of the elders hand.
"Take him to the guest room please, get him some blankets, water, and comfy clothes." The Prince ordered before looking at Taehyung again who looked like he was about to cry again.
"A-are you coming with me?" The Prince sighed. "I'll be there soon don't worry, I need to go talk to Namjoon real quick but I promise I'll come back right away."
"Promise?" The elder looked up at Jungkook who smiled back at the latter.
"Promise."
-
Namjoon groaned once he heard a knock from his door at 10 pm, he hated getting interrupted so late since this was the only time of the day for himself. Or night you could say.
The butler paused the television that was documenting about the fire that occurred just a few moments ago. He lazily navigated himself towards the door before opening it, quite shocked to see Jungkook standing there.
"Well this is a first." Namjoon joked since it was always him knocking at the youngers door. He didn't expect to get a laugh back from Jungkook since well, he is Jungkook. He expected his usual poker face but what concerned him was that he looked like he was more frustrated than emotionless.
"You okay?" The older interrogated.
"Do I fucking look okay?" Jungkook provoked back as he stumped inside the room. Namjoon raised his eyebrows. "What happened?"
"How do you make someone sad happy again?"
"Woah woah woah slow down, breath and tell me what happened." The butler reassuringly told as he sat down on his bed next to the Prince who was trying not to rip his hair out.
"That happened." Jungkook sadly chuckled as he pointed to the paused television screen showing the past fire. The Prince leaned back onto the headboard and kept eyeing the television.
Namjoon was still out of his mind confused. "I don't understand Jungkook."
The said male turned his head away from the older because he knew he was about to cry. This was also a first since he's never cried over someone else's issues before. Crying in front of people also wasn't an option.
The butlers heart almost fell out of his chest once he heard whimpers coming out of the Prince's mouth. He's never truly heard the younger cry before and it was honestly quite heartbreaking.
"I just, I think my life is so bad and then I look at someone like Taehyung and I-" He sniffled his nose. "I'm so selfish. I live in a whole palace, millions of dollars, people lined up just for me and-"
Namjoon attentively listened to the younger since he knew this was his breaking point. This is what he's been waiting for from the Prince.
"Taehyung doesn't even have a fucking place to live anymore, his parents coffins got burned down, almost got r*ped, and eats crumbs of cereal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And I'm complaining because I don't have enough shirts in my closet."
The elder widened his eyes once Jungkook spoke about Taehyung. He knew Taehyung had it pretty bad, but not that bad. Now he could really see why Jungkook broke because of him.
"And n-now.." Namjoon looked back up at Jungkook who was closing his eyes with tears pouring out of them, it was even more heartbreaking than before. "Taehyung's crying and is the saddest I've ever seen him, he doesn't deserve to be sad. It w-was like there was no emotion left in him, like-"
"Like you." The older suddenly spoke causing the younger to open his eyes. "Taehyung's going through how you felt after your grandparents and Lucas."
"I don't want him to be like me though, I-I'm miserable and he's supposed to be h-happy-" "Jungkook." The older cut off. "Taehyung is an overall happy person, everyone has a point in their life when stuff like this happens. He's just been through so much that he's used to it, but this is definitely going to be one of the harder things for him."
The younger didn't know what to say and didn't know what to do so all he did was look back down at the sheets. "I don't want him to be sad though."
"Okay, well for starters where is he?" The elder raised his eyebrow and crossed his arms.
"In the guest room."
"And where are you?"
Jungkook immediately drew panic into his face once he realized that he's been in Namjoon's room for over 20 minutes, which meant Taehyung had been left to cry by himself for that same amount of time.
"Fuck.."
