Chapter 1:

The snow had been falling heavily, covering the streets and rooftops with a white blanket. While some might find this kind weather awful, Sana actually considered it to be her favorite season. She raised her hand to touch the snowflakes and let it melt on her bare hand but couldn't feel anything. Thinking the numbness was probably due to being exposed in the cold for too long, Sana closed and lowered her hand.

As she finally took a better look at her surroundings, her brows knitted together and confusion made its way onto her face. She was enjoying the snow so much that she didn't realize where on earth had her feet taken her. The said area seemed like a secluded neighborhood far from her home and she couldn't comprehend how did she manage to walk all the way here. There was traces of footprints creating a small path on the ground, although it was almost wiped away by the snow. Feeling adventurous, Sana decided to trailed after the leads and ended up entering a forest filled with beautiful plants.

As Sana was strolling, suddenly heard loud noises nearby. She glanced around and noticed a beautiful mansion. Its architecture design somehow reminded her of a fancy fairytale castle, albeit much more modern looking. However, before Sana could spend the next minute marveling on how picturesque the scenery was, a cheery laughter attracted her attention. Curious, she followed the sound and was eventually greeted with the sight of seven little boys playing in the backyard. Some of them were having a snowball fight while the rest were building a huge snowman.

Sana was about to walk over to ask the boys about this place but someone else beated her to it by calling them over. A lady appeared at the door, and despite not being able to see her face clearly, the elegant way she carried herself depicted that she was a woman of high class. Her flowing long black hair was silky, and her complexion was as fair as snow. The dress that she wore was simple, but it looked so elegant on her. Also, the lady was cradling a cute baby who was sleeping peacefully.

A smile adorned Sana's, seeing how contented they all seemed to be. Family, such a precious blessing to have in this world. Just as she was about to approach them, a strong wind passed by. Sana immediately blocked her face with her hands, yet it kept blowing stronger. She forced open her eyes and realized that the house in front of her vanished, and so did mthe woman and the children.

The last thing Sana noticed was a silhouette of a person, waving their arm as if joyfully conducting an orchestra before everything in her surroundings turned into golden dust and fell apart.

---

Sana opened her eyes to find herself in the local library. The librarian was occupied with her computer monitor and there were only two or three people within the vicinity.

Sana breathed out a deep sigh. Apparently she was having another strange dream again. It tended to happen quite often recently, and all of them felt oddly vivid.

Sana glanced down to see the books she picked out earlier were still placed neatly on the table. Sticked to one of the covers was a blue post-it note, which said: "I didn't want to disturb your sleep because you looked tired, but I need to be on time for the first day of my job so I'll get going first. I'll text you later! - JY"

It was from her best friend Jeongyeon. They had been working on their homework that was due the following week. Speaking of Jeongyeon, ever since her father passed away, her stepmother had seized all of his properties. Jeongyeon was left to fend on her own, thus she needed to work extra hard in order to pay for her tuition and other living expenses. Yet, despite deliberately spending most of her time on part time jobs, Jeongyeon always made sure to take her study seriously. Sana greatly admire her best friend for her conscientiousness.

It took Sana awhile to finally complete the rest of her homework. When she was done, her phone screen showed that it was already 6:45 pm.

"Shoot."

Sana quickly stood up, gathered her belongings and carried the books to the counter.

"I am going to borrow all of this." - She handed her card to the librarian. The old lady swiped Sana's card on the machine then returned it to her. Sana hastily thanked her and headed straight to the entrance. However, before she could make it pass the door, someone suddenly bumped into her and almost knocked the books out of her hands.

"It's you again."
