Chapter 32: Spoiled Paws

Being in Terran's arms was a bit odd, but at least he was away from a brooding Rylan right then. He knew that he wouldn't hurt him, but he was angry and it was smart to give an angry lion space. After a quiet minute Arron was carried over to where Jordan was sitting on the sofa and deposited beside him.

"Hey kid, sorry my son is such an ass."

He is, but at least he's not nearly as aggressive as some lions I've seen. Arron mewed and nuzzled against his side with a happy purr. He felt safe just being around him. Maybe it had something to do with the pride mentality of lions. Being a cheetah, most of their instincts were opposite, so he honestly wasn't too sure. He shouldn't feel safe around Jordan, but he almost felt like one of the pride, and that meant that the head male would always protect him.

When Terran sat down next to Jordan Arron eyed him cautiously, but accepted a few pats on the head before swatting at his hand.

"You grew a little bit while away, Arron." He stated.

He had noticed that, too, but it wasn't enough to really flaunt. His kitten had probably gained a pound or two. It was nice to know that he was at least still growing and hadn't stopped. Maybe he'd have his adult cheetah one day.

"But when you bred with that elephant... Erin? I think? You grew at least a few pounds right after dad said. Maybe that kick-started your body to finally do what it's supposed to?"

Makes as much sense as anything else. He did grow quite a bit when he had shifted after his awkward time with Erin. His cheetah was nearly twice his original kitten's size that he had been stuck in before, but was still definitely small.

"So, I was wondering..." Terran said, making Arron's ears perk up a little in curiosity.

"How about we go on a little date, hm?"

What?

The shock on Arron's face was honestly adorable. It felt a bit odd asking a kitten out in the first place, but Terran knew that he was old enough to understand everything. Of course, he was partially doing it because of his brother's shitty behavior, but in the same thought, he wanted to show Arron that he didn't have to feel like he had to put up with Rylan's attitude.

He wasn't sure if they were dating yet, but he knew that was what Rylan was eventually going to try for. He liked Arron, but he was raised as a lion, and never really paid attention when their father went over interacting with other species. That was mainly because he had never wanted anything for a mate besides a lion, until Arron came along.

"Let me show you a nice time at least?" He asked with a lazy smile.

Arron pawed at his left ear nervously, which was way too cute since he was still a fuzzy kitten. Then his form wavered and he was back to his human self.

Jordan calmly but quickly pulled one of the blankets they left atop the sofa over Arron's waist for a bit of modesty. Sighing, Arron leaned back against the couch and stared up at the ceiling for a few moments before turning his head toward Terran.

"I guess. A nice time sounds good."

Time to make my bastard of a brother jealous and realize what he's about to lose if he doesn't get his act together.

"Hey, Tayn? Wake up."

No, go away.

Tayn felt something nuzzle against his hair for a moment, bringing him around slowly. A faint musky smell wafted into his nose., too.

"Pask?" He grumbled.

"We're gonna be late for dinner if you don't get up and shower soon." Pascal said.

Dinner?

"Larro will be waiting for us there in about thirty minutes."

Oh crap.

Tayn quickly jumped up and tried to run off toward the bathroom. It didn't work so well. Instead, he nearly face-planted on to the wooden floor. The arm that came around his waist kept him from obtaining a new injury and also helped him get back on his feet.

"Thanks." He mumbled, having forgotten that he'd hurt his ankle earlier.

Pask smiled and helped him to the bathroom, but then quickly turned to leave. I still can't get used to this. He would always offer to help wash me, even though I'd smack him for it and shove him out of the room. Shaking his head, Tayn got himself washed up, being careful not to slip or put too much weight on his bad ankle. Ten minutes later he was slowly stepping out of the shower and drying off.

Pascal was waiting in the living room in a pair of torn black jeans and a light grey sweater so Tayn figured that they weren't going to a fancy dinner. Good. He really didn't feel like putting on a smile around Larro's exec friends right then.

He quickly ducked into his room with his towel wrapped tightly around his waist. When he found the outfit he wanted, he took the items out and dropped his towel so that he could tug on a pair of torn jeans and a dark blue hoodie he had stolen from Pask a week ago. He did intend to return it, eventually.

It had actually been pretty tight on Pask, which was why Tayn hadn't felt too bad taking it off his hands. It was almost like he hadn't paid attention to the sizes when he bought some stuff, because some of the things were way too small on him, but fit Tayn perfectly.

Once he checked his hair in the mirror and nodded at his outfit, Tayn slid on a loose pair of tennis shoes. He'd rewrapped his ankle in the bathroom and it wasn't hurting too badly right then, so he figured that he could manage through dinner.

"Ready." He said as he returned to the living room.

Pask helped him down the stairs and then they were off. The place was only a few blocks away but from the looks of it, it was pretty popular. If the delicious smells coming from inside were any indication, it was going to be great. Tayn was so distracted picking apart the different scents that he didn't even mind when Pascal took his hand and tugged him inside. He also didn't notice Pask holding up two fingers when the hostess asked them how many were in their party since he was so focused on looking around the cool pizzeria.

Oh nice. They actually have a big arcade, too!

He might have a soft spot for video games. He never really got much of a teenage childhood, so he really enjoyed a good game of pinball or racing, among several others.

Pask knew he'd definitely have to thank Larro for telling him that Tayn would like the arcade restaurant. He, himself, wasn't much of an arcade guy, but considering the way Tayn's face was lighting up, he would definitely make an exception. In fact, right after their pizza was devoured Tayn was literally dragging him over to the big arcade area. Pascal thought that he was still pretty injured, too, but evidently the pinball machine with the X-men characters on it was more than enough incentive to get him moving quickly.

For a good two hours Pask emptied his pockets of money and completely spoiled his man. After nearly fifty dollars worth of gaming he finally got Tayn's attention away from the flashy arcade.

"We have to go pick up Larro, T."

When Tayn paused, turning away from a machine he'd just won a good amount of points at, he scowled.

"Wait, wasn't he supposed to be here?" He asked, making Pascal smirk and chuckle.

You were so caught up in everything that you totally forgot about that.

"Sorry hun, but I tricked you."

He looked a bit upset at first, but Pask swore when he furrowed his brow in anger it just made him look cuter. Tayn's mouth opened and closed like he was going to try and argue but then he actually blushed a little and leaned forward, wrapping one arm awkwardly around Pascal's side.

He's... hugging me? Where's the punch? Kick? Slap?

The last time he had lied to him he was nearly castrated.

When Tayn realized that he wasn't hugging him back his blush got even brighter and he bit his lip as he removed his arm from around Pascal.

"Let's go get Larro..." He said almost too quietly to be heard in the loud room.

Nodding, they both headed outside. "Oh uh, here..." Pascal said in a whisper as they stopped beside the car. Tayn looked up, giving him the perfect opportunity to press the absolutely fake dark red earring into his left ear. It was the only side he had pierced, and he'd evidently forgotten to put in his earring earlier.

Pascal had won it while Tayn had been busy playing against another kid at a fighting game. When Tayn lifted a hand to feel the cheap jewelry, Pask flushed and ran around to get into the driver's seat. He wasn't sure why he had gotten him such a cheap thing as a present. After spending nearly fifty dollars on just video games alone, he should have thought of something much better than a fake earring.

While he berated himself internally, he felt something soft press against the side of his face, stunning his mind into utter silence as he slowly got the car turned on to take them home.

He just kissed me.

Best. Night. Ever.
