Details:

Aevaline stands about 5'9", though she has a regal air and proper posture that make her seem taller. She has a naturally delicate build, but is well-proportioned. She has always been a good-looking and desirable woman, but not classically beautiful. At 43, she is beginning to show signs of age, and is vain enough to constantly worry about small things that may mar her beauty. She looks like a larger version of her petite daughter, which makes her smile. However, Aevaline is a Targaryen by marriage, not by birth. She has pretty sky blue eyes, but they are somewhat ordinary compared to the unusual Targaryen hues.

Personality/Backstory:

Aevaline is a charming but fierce personality. A Tyrell at heart, she knows charm and proper manners---even when not applied with any sincerity---are a deadly weapon. A Targaryen soul, Aevaline has learned to speak up, to be heard, and not to let the men around her push her into the background. Growing up, she was a close friend to the future King, along with her brother, who became Hand To The Kind. However, after her marriage, she found herself wiser, more educated, and more interested in being the driving force behind her husband's decisions. Her largest obstacle has always been her brother, who is also ambitious and tried to influence the mind of the King. At times, Aevaline's brother would try to overshadow her or speak condescendingly, a habit the King himself picked up in later years. She quickly grew tired of men believing they are smarter or better rulers for the simple fact of being men. Although she loves all her children, she tried to instill a sense of fearless independence in her daughter, letting her know that even if it doesn't appear so, a woman's destiny is in her own hands.

Aevaline manages to walk a fine line between being liked by those she rules and the object of disdain. When faced with opposition, she will smile, and then she will fight. She can be a fearsome challenger, and with the recent death of her husband, has a new awareness that her job is no longer to answer to men or placate them. Aevaline has always ruled from the shadows; now she is growing into a sense of self-assurance and daring others to undermine her power. It is something that only comes with age and experience. Given time, Aevaline might become a wise ruler that is remembered for doing better than her husband. Unfortunately, there are threats around every corner, and time may be the one thing she doesn't have.

Aevaline is a loving mother and has raised all three of her children to be educated nobles who put on the proper public face. Secretly, she resents her first-born, who will take the throne when he marries and sires an heir. Fortunately, he does not want that fate any more than she does-for now. She is terrified of her middle child, who shows signs of his father's madness. If anyone is going to do her harm, she fears it's him. She loves her daughter and has raised her to be a miniature version of herself, reminding her that charm and manipulation are as strong as a weapon---but sometimes, you've just got to poison someone.

This Queen comes with secrets---particularly surrounding the sudden death of her husband, who was not old, sick, or at war. He passed peacefully in his chambers, though no one could ever say why. She and her brother are the only ones to know the whole story of how the Tyrell children were orphaned too young, leaving the Hand with the responsibility of House Tyrell. While her marriage to the King began with love, time was unkind to the pair, and his madness often became violent towards those closest to him. At some point, he crossed a line where she no longer knew him as the husband she once loved.  Aevaline had numerous affairs, conducted with enough discretion for most, but not the overly watchful eyes of her brother. Her children, niece, and nephew all carry their own secrets. Burying the truth has become a full-time job for Aevaline.

Truth does not set people free; it proves their undoing. Anyone without secrets hasn't lived, and the Queen has lived enough for a few lifetimes.

Other:

Aevaline was taught the art of dragon-taming. She has a female dragon , Electra, who is the sister to her daughter's beloved pet Abraxos.
