The weekend had passed and it was now a Monday. During that time Katie's mind was in a constant state of a blur. After what had happened to Miguel, she went to visit him the next day to check up on him like she'd promised. Miguel told Katie how his mother Carmin never wanted him to do karate again after what had happened at the Halloween dance.

Katie couldn't imagine the look on her mother's face, when she heard from Carmen. At first, her mother was upset at the fact that kids from school had beaten up another student, with no teacher anywhere to prevent the fight from happening.

Charlotte questioned if homeschooling was the best option for Katie, in fear of her daughter getting bullied as well. Which resulted in an argument between the pair, Katie was finally starting to make friends and live her life the way she wanted to. She didn't want to be homeschooled just because of an incident that should've never happened in the first place. 

So now it made Katie confront the situation of wanting to obey her mother's wishes, but also do what is right for herself.

" So that's it?" Demetri questions Miguel "No more karate?"

The four of them are in the library, sitting at a table, studying. Katie takes a glance at Miguel who's working on his assignment. Her eyes travel to the bruises that are very prominent on his face. 

" I guess so.." Miguel only shrugs at Demetri's question, still feeling mad about the situation.

" It was probably for the best... It was starting to boost your confidence" He states with a tap of his pen. Katie and Miguel gave him a confused look.

" Isn't that a good thing?"  The Daiz boy questions, with Katie nodding along.

" No" Demtri shakes his head, making Katie scoff, "Seriously Demetri?" She gives him a disbelieving look, dropping her pencil to the side.

" What?" He says to the girl, not getting what she is so upset about.

" Miguel only took Karate so he can defend himself, why is that not a good thing to have?" She asks him while taking a glance at Miguel.

Demetri shakes his head, with dismissive hands, pushing his homework to the side. " What has confidence ever gotten anybody, except for a black eye and their backpack thrown in the trash" He states his head lowering down, with a puzzled look.

" Well I thought it was kind of cool how you stood up to Kyler '' Eli spoke up, stopping from writing in his notebook. Katie looks at Eli and smiles at him, before going back to reading her textbook.

"Are you insane?!" Demtrie slightly yells, making Katie roll her eyes and slam her book shut. So much for trying to read.

"Let me ask you this, what is the best superpower anyone could have?" He asks the three with a serious gaze.

" Super strength" Migue quickly says, positive with his answer. Demetri shakes his head and turns to Katie with raised eyebrows. " Oh..um time travel?" She says unsure of her response.

" Both of you are wrong, It's invisibility" He shakes his head again as he points his pencil to both of them.

" Oh," Katie purses her lips together. " A distant second would be super speed to run away fast" He added, playing with a pencil.

" Runaway from who?"

Katie looked up to see the person the three boys were desperately trying to avoid. It was Kyler and one of his friends with him, who Katie learned to be Bruck.

"Whom" Bruck said to Kyler who looked at his friend confused. " It's the object of a preposition. Remember English class?"

Katie mentally groaned as she and her friends quickly got up from their seats, wanting to get away from the two bullies. "We were just leaving," Miguel adds with panic in his voice. The Wilson girl tried her best to shove her stuff in her bag, dropping a few books along the way, finding herself next to Demetri.

" Hey, where are you going? " Kyler manages to grab Eli by the back of the neck, dragging to face him.

" Oh look at this freak " The asian boy harshly grabs Eli's chin getting a better look at his face.

"Oh shit" Bruck laughs at the boy, who looks frightened. "What kind of girl would kiss this shit" Kyler observes as they both laugh obnoxiously, looking at his cleft lip scar

Miguel and Demetri looked helpless as they watched their friend get humiliated. Katie on the other hand started getting deja vu and couldn't see Eli be treated like that anymore. "Leave him alone" She voices out, holding her stance with confidence, giving a cold look their way. 

Kyler lets go of Eli shoving him to the side, finally taking notice of the girl, who looked super nervous, but tried hard to hide it. "Holy shit" Kyler lets out a laugh, pointing at Katie, with a glance thrown at Bruck. "Isn't that Mia's little sister?" He asked his friend as they stepped closer to the group.

"Now I'll be damned." Bruck looks at her up and down, surprised." It is her, but hanging out with a bunch of nerds?" He chuckles, with Kyler nodding along with him.

"At least they're not douchebags like you" Katie spits out, her hand on her side, forming into a fist, feeling the anger rise in her. 

"Yeah you tell him Katie" Demetri comments, taking a step next to the girl, feeling the confident energy from her. This made the two bullies shoot him a deadly glare at him.   

Demetri gulps nervously "Or not", slowly stepping back behind an angered Katie.

Kyler takes steps forward, trying to intimidate her. "Listen bitch- "

"Enough Kyler" Miguel also steps forward, standing in front of katie. His face shows no emotion as Kyler steps up to Miguel.

" What'd you say?" He taunts with a smile, finding it funny how Miguel was trying to stand up against him. " You haven't had enough Rhea?" Bruck gives a push to the Daiz boy on the shoulder. Miguel looks down feeling powerless against him.

" Get the hell out of here man" Kyler harshly shoves Miguel's head, making Katie stubble back. She steadies herself with a bookcase watching Bruck let go of Eli and shoves him towards her.

" Are you okay?" She asks him, trying to meet his eyes, which only results in him grabbing her wrist, trying to pull her away.

" Hey you don't want this shit"

Katie looks over Eli's shoulder stopping them from walking further. Seeing Kyler grab Demetri's backpack from him. " No come on, not the trash I just-" Demetri calls out, watching Kyler and Bruck laugh, when they toss his backpack in the trash.

" Threw a yogurt in there" Demetri finishes his sentence, his shoulder slumping in defeat at the sight.

" Now it's double dip" Kyler smirks at Demetri, watching him pull out his bag covered in yogurt.

" Come on guys" Miguel calls out to the trio, all of them having miserable faces as the four of them walk by rows of bookshelves. Not taking notice of Sam watching them concerned, hearing everything that happened.

"Fucking pricks" Katie curses out, roughly cleaning Demetris backpack with brown paper towels she had gotten from the bathroom. Eli and Demetri watch her worriedly, giving towel after towel to her. " Why is there so much yogurt on here?" Katie questions her pale friend, while trying to aggressively rub it out.

" You know my backpack isn't the one who bullied us right?" He answers her back, settling himself next to her on the floor by the lockers.

" Sorry," Katies says with a sigh, stopping her movements. " It's just makes me so mad, people fucking suck"

" Not all people Katie" Eli whispers out trying to comfort the girl. Katie sends him a smile his way, and finishes wiping away the yogurt. He holds his hands out, for Katie to give him the rest of the used towels to throw away.

" Eli's right" Demetri speaks out, as Katie hands the trash to Eli. " What?" Katie says, dragging out the word dramatically, "Demetri finally agreeing on something that isn't negative?" She looks at him shocked.

Demetri rolls his eyes, " I'm serious though, think about it, we're nerds, Albert Einstein was a nerd and he didn't suck" Katie shares a look with Eli, who came back, both desperately trying not to laugh.

" Okay I may have realized how wrong that sounded" He states holding himself from laughing. "You think?" She chuckles at him.

" I'm back!" Miguel hollers out, running his way towards them, coming from the cafeteria.

" Here you go," He says, handing Katie a can of coke soda and Eli a chocolate milk. Miguel turns and lowers his head down to stare at Demetri, who gave him a raised eyebrow.

" Sorry they didn't have the milk you wanted" He says, handing him a chocolate milk instead.

Demtetri scoffs " Of course, they never do" He mumbles out, while poking his straw through the cartoon, taking a sip from the drink.

" Thank you Miguel" Katie clicks open the can and raises it up to him. " You're welcome" He tells her with a smile and takes a sip of his own.

" What were you guys talking about while I was gone?" He asks them, which made Katie snicker in response.

" How Demetri was saying what Albert Einstein sucks on" Katie giggles as she takes another sip of her crisped drink.

This made Demetri go all haywire and abrogate his words, putting the four in pits of laughter. While trying to catch her breath, Katie spotted a group of girls from her peripheral vision, coming out of the cafeteria.

It wasn't until a certain blonde voice pulled them out of their own conversation. The trio of popular girls stood in front of them. Yasmine front and center with Moon and Sam on each of her sides.

"Damn I didn't know it was a trend, Moon you should've told me it was ugly sweater season" Yasmine snickers to her two friends, gesturing towards Katie's cat cardigan.

The curly headed girl looks down at her sweater, having a slight hurt look on her face. Yasmine's comment gave a burst of emotions to Katie. It wasn't some comment that anyone could just shrug off and go on with their lives. This was personal, because this cardigan was a gift from Jason months before he had died.

" It's actually kinda cute" Moon inputs her opinion to her friend.

Yasmine gives her a look, " Really?, I could find that in some random old ladies closet" She scoffs, and turns to Sam, who stood quiet.

"Right Sam?" Yasmine questions the brunette.

Sam gives a glance to Katie who looks down at her fingers, not wanting to meet anyone's eye. The boys waited for Sam's response, hoping she wouldn't agree to the blonde's mean remark.

Letting out an uncomfortable laugh, she looks at her friends. "Yea it's pretty ugly" Sam says, eyes meeting Miguel's who looked hurt as well. Feeling fooled thinking she wasn't like them.

Yasmine gives a nudge to Moon, " Your right to let her join us-"

" You never learn do you Yasmine?" A sudden voice interrupts the blonde. A smile started to appear on Katie's face, replacing the sadden frown. Looking up, Mia makes her way to them, with a bathroom pass swinging in her hand.

" Bullying people who can't defend themselves," She lets out a tisk, "Such a coward move" 

Mia pushes Yasmine back, making Moon and Sam step away from her. " Since I can, maybe I could be your first lesson bitch"

Yasmine huffs, rubbing the spot of her shoulder ,that Mia's thumb dug into. "That is?" She questioned, feeling a tad bit nervous.

"Apologize to my sister," Mia states, crossing her arms. Yasmine laughs, feeling not so nervous anymore.

" And if I don't?"

Mia smiles mockingly and steps closer to the blonde, entering in her personal space. This made Katie stand up, having an idea what her sister is up to. She sees Mia reach out and gently laces her fingers with the golden strands of Yasmines hair.

" Nice hair extensions" Mia says with a smile, rubbing the locks between her thumb and fingers.

"Can you n-"

The older Wilson yanks her hair forward, making Yasmine harshly lean in as well, a small yelp escapes her mouth as she looks at Mia scared. Everyone around them lightly gasps, with Miguel looking at Katie. She gives him a worried look and glaces around making sure no teacher saw. 

"Too bad they won't be this color when I shove them up your ass" She finishes with an eyebrow raise. " Or I could just tell everyone that you ate shit on the field last week, take your pick"

With that she lets go of her hair, and Yasmine's gives a horrid look to Mia. Feeling more threatened with the second option " You wouldn't" She says nervously, her eyes glimpse over to her friends who gave questionable looks.

" Oh I would," Mia nods confidently " So what's it gonna be?"

Yasmine sighs angrily and looks at Katie with a distasteful look. " I'm sorry Katie" She spat out the girl's name with bitterness as she walks away, with Moon trailing along.

" See you in gym class bitch!" Mia yells out along with a middle finger to the blonde. Katie chuckles, feeling thankful for her sister. However she becomes aware of Sam still standing there with admiration over her face, looking at a carefree Mia.

" Are you coming or what Sam?!" Yasmine calls out angrily at the LaRusso girl. Who shook herself out of her own world and quickly walked towards their way, not before taking a last look to Katie then at Mia.

"That was.."Demetri pauses out loud, breaking the silence.

" Badass" Miguel finishes for him, with Eli nodding along, the three boys look at Mia in amazement.

" You good bug?" Mia questions Katie, who gave a weak smile to her. " I'm fine" She tells her, but deep down inside she wasn't.

Friday came by fast enough for Katie to forget about her encounter with Yasmine and Sam. She had a class with the LaRusso girl, but every time she shared a look with her, Sam would send a smile to her out of politeness.

After that day, Katie came home and was thankful that she was by herself. She wanted to cry so bad, but she couldn't. Katie hadn't cried since she found out about Jason.

People grieve in so many different ways and for Katie it put her into deep depression that sent her to therapy. It helped of course, but it couldn't take the pain away that the poor girl was suffering from.

That cardigan is one of the few things Katie felt that brought her closer to her brother. Wearing it that day after being in the closet for months. Healed some sort of broken piece from her heart.

Like she was one step closer to healing from everything. Wearing stuff he had gifted her over the years was hard. Happy memories always inundate back to the day, when he bought her a dainty bracelet with a star pendant from vacation, the Wilson family once went on. Ever since Jason gifted it to her, she never took it off, not even once.

When Yasmine and Sam's comment deteriorated the hope that Katie is desperately trying to cling onto. Memories came flooding back into her mind, from her old life in school when Katie was bullied for what had happened.

The Wilson girl is laying on her bed with the Tv on. Trying to forget about the other day and lose herself by watching movies and stuffing her face with snacks.

Miguel had left an hour ago after getting a call from his mother, letting him know that he could go back to karate. Which made the two friends hug each other, excitedly. Katie felt happy for Miguel and knowing he's learning martial arts, to defend himself made her applaud. She wished she could do something like that with courage and determination. 

Getting up after turning off her Tv, Katie walks over to her closet. Digging through a box that held stacks of comic books, that Demetri had gifted for her birthday. Pulling out a book and a Korean snack, she heads back to bed. Before getting herself situated, her gaze travels in front of her and Robby's envelope catches her eye.

Ever since Mia had told Katie about Robby coming over and dropping off the birthday card. Katie had placed it onto her dresser that very same night and had forgotten about it until this very moment. Since the Kyler situation and now Yasmine, it flew over her head and now, Katie felt like she was being rude.

First embarrassed because what if Robby was waiting for her to call him and now he thinks she's ghosting him. Katie sits in a slump form on the edge of her bed. Contemplating if she should text or call him or not do anything at all.

"Argh I'm so stupid" Katie argues with herself and gets up hastily, treading over to the dresser. Snatching the envelope, she hurries back and crisscrosses on her bed. Setting the open laptop on her lap and begins typing Robby's number to a new message. Taking in a sigh, she prays nothing worse happens and quickly sends the message to him, before changing her mind.

"There's no going back now"  She whispers to herself and leans back against her pillows, with her legs together and laptop on the tops of her thighs.

Five minutes have passed by of her impatiently waiting for Robby to respond back. She set aside her computer and decided on reading her comic book to pass time.

Ding

Katie hurries over and reaches to grab her laptop, her heart racing when seeing a new message appearing on her screen. She clicks onto it only to see a message from Demetri and Eli. After texting with them back and forth for a bit, Katie exits out to her background screen.

Maybe he's busy, it's fine no biggie, Katie tries to reassure herself, while getting up to walk over to her closet to randomly organize. Going through her hangers and pulling out sweaters and shoving them in no specific order. Abruptly stopping, shakes her head at herself.

Scratching the itch on her arm, Katie leaves her closet and starts heading to her door. " I need a snack" She states, twisting the knob of her door.

Ding

Another chim echos through her room, making Katie freeze from her spot. Damn it! She huffs and slowly turns around on the heels of her feet. Maybe it's not him

Katie leisurely obliges her way to her bed, hovering over the electronic device. Fingers unsteadily move to the mouse to click on the notification. Katie audibly gasps, "Shit it's him" Speedily stepping away from her computer like it contained a virus.

Robby's message reflects on her eyes as she darts between the colored text and her keyboard. Anxiety creeps into her chest, building up a breath to escape her lips. Exhaling out, she sits down on her comforter and begins typing back.

Katie smiles while typing another response, feeling relieved. A small tingle forms in her stomach as they both continue to converse with each other.
