Chapter Fifteen

Newt was up and out the door bright and early the next morning. When he arrived at the boat dock, he paid for his ticket and got settled on the boat.

The boat ride flew by. Newt's mind was occupied by thoughts of Tina. How surprised would she be, and what would she think of Newt's gift?

When the boat arrived at the dock, Newt jumped off the boat and left. Really, it would have been much easier to leap out and into the water, but there wasn't time for being wet. He had many things to do, a few errands to run, and a place to set up for that night.

At last, Newt had finished his shopping and arrived at his destination. The field.

The field was symbolic of so much!

They had decided to start dating there. They had an awful fight there.
They shared a kiss there.

Tonight was going to be just as memorable.

Newt began to set up. He took a baby blue delicate picnic blanket and placed it on the ground. Then, he took two muggle lawn chairs and an old TV table and started to perform transfiguration.
Once he was done, he had two elegant wooden chairs (which groaned slightly when you touch them, but they would work nonetheless), and a small dining table for two.

Next, he set up four poles on each corner of the blanket and strung lights between them. When he had finished, Newt stepped back and admired his work. Although it wasn't perfect, he was sure that Tina would appreciate it.

The sun was slowly beginning to set. Tina was going to be home from work very soon. Newt made sure he looked presentable, and apparated to the Goldstein home.

Once he saw Tina enter, Newt cautiously went up to the door, flowers in hand, and knocked.

Mrs. Esposito came to the door, her eyes narrowed. "Who are you?" She asked, although it was more of a demand than a question.

"Newt Scamander, ma'am," Newt said, nervously hiding the flowers behind his back. "Do you think I could speak to Tina Goldstein for one moment?"

Mrs. Esposito told him to wait one moment, and went to fetch Tina.

Newt worriedly pulled the end of his coat. He didn't know how tonight was going to fare, but he certainly hoped for the best.
