Chapter Nineteen
A while later (epilogue)
A quick author's note: I know that Rolf is not Newt and Tina's son; he is their grandson. But the name of their son has not yet been revealed to the world, so for now we can just say that his name is Rolf. I'm sorry if that's a bit confusing.
"Rolf!" Tina called.
"Coming, Mum!"
A young boy stumbled down the stairs, lugging a trunk with him. He had the face of his mother but with the unkempt, curly hair of his father.
He finally reached the bottom of the stairs and set his trunk down with a loud thump.
The doorbell rang. "I'll get it!" Rolf raced to the door and unlocked it.
"Hi, Uncle Jacob!" Rolf grinned.
"Hey, Rolf! Are you excited?"
Rolf nodded, but Jacob noticed his cheerful demeanor fell.
"What's wrong?" Jacob asked.
"I'm excited, but a bit nervous too... What if no one likes me?"
Jacob chucked. "Who wouldn't like you? Anyone lucky enough to get to know you would be thrilled."
"But Dad didn't go to Illvermony."
"Your mother and your Aunt both did, and they loved it."
Rolf nodded.
"Now the important thing is not to worry. You'll be fine. Oh, and I brought something for you." Jacob reached into his pocket and handed him a brown paper bag, which Rolf looked into and saw a Niffler-shaped pastry. Rolf eagerly took it and began to wolf it down as if he hadn't eaten in years.
Newt came over to where Rolf was standing, carrying his trunk. "Ready?" He asked. Rolf didn't reply; he was too deeply focused on devouring the pastry.
"Aunt Queenie should be here any minute now," Jacob said. The doorbell rang again. "There she is."
They all went over to the Scamanders' fireplace. Newt took a pouch off of the mantle and held it out to Queenie first. She took a small handful of the Floo Powder and stepped into the fireplace. "Watch closely," Tina told Jacob and Rolf, who were both new to the Floo Network.
"Queen's Cross Station," Queenie said, and threw the Floo Powder down. She disappeared with a bang into a green puff of smoke.
"Jacob, you go next," Tina instructed. He copied what Queenie had done.
"Rolf?" Newt held out the pouch to him. Rolf nodded nervously and took a pinch of the powder. He stepped into the fireplace. "Queen's Cross Station!" He said, throwing the powder down. Bang. Green clouded his vision and he felt his body spinning. Next thing he knew, he was flying out of a fireplace at the station.
"Welcome to Platform 8 and 3/4!" Queenie beamed. "Quickly now, out of the way." Sure enough, Newt and Tina flew out of the fireplace.
The train's whistle blew. "This is the Illvermony Express," Tina said. The train was a emerald green color with silver letters adorning the side. Young first years all the way to tall seventh years were already boarding.
"Looks like we got here just in time," Newt said, pointing at the clock. "Well, he should be going," Tina agreed. "Now Rolf, whatever happens, you'll be fine. You'll love Illvermony, I know you will." Rolf hugged her tightly. "Bye Mum," he whispered. He went over and hugged Newt. "I'll miss you." "I'll miss you too." Queenie and Jacob also hugged him.
At that, Rolf grabbed his trunk and bounded over to the train. He climbed on and quickly chose a compartment just as the train started to move.
As the train started to move down the tracks, many students waved to their parents. Rolf waved too, and Queenie, Jacob, Tina, and Newt waved back.
Once the train was out of sight, Tina rested her head on Newt's shoulder. "Will he be alright?" She asked. "He'll be okay," Newt replied. Tina smiled. "He will."
