Chapter Six
Tina didn't say a word. Looking shocked, she just stood there and stared. She began to tremble. Leta looked at Tina, then at Newt, then back to Tina. Her mouth opened in a tiny 'o' as she realized.
Newt stared at the ground. He felt his cheeks turn bright red. He moved his mouth to speak, but no words came out. How was he ever going to fix this?
At last, he gathered his courage and said, "Tina, I --" but he was cut off by the loud crack of Tina disapparating.
His first instinct was to be angry at Leta. "This is all your fault!" He said furiously. "I didn't even want to kiss you! You just kind of pulled me in! And I was going pull away, but then Tina came! God, Leta, how could you? We haven't seen each other in years and now all of the sudden you want to kiss me?! I have a girlfriend!" Newt rambled angrily. He was most unlike his usual quiet self.
"Newt, calm down," Leta whispered shakily. "W-we can fix this." "Fix this?!" Newt exclaimed. "How? How would you suggest we do that? 'Oh hi, I just started kissing your boyfriend, sorry about that!' Leta, look what you've done! And now Tina has gone home and and told Jacob and Queenie, and they'll hate me, and god I'll never have friends again. All because of you."
Tears poured down Leta's face. Newt was quiet, silently seething. "Newt, I- I'm sorry," she sobbed. "'Sorry' isn't going to cut it. 'Sorry' isn't going to fix my relationship with Tina." Newt disapparated into the cold and dark night.
