CHAPTER ONE, meeting her
Zaylee wasn't like her family. She wasn't a hunter even though she trained with them and her family hoped that one day she would come to her senses and be one of them.
She wants to have friends for more than a few weeks, maybe hang out with them outside of school and she just wants to be a normal teenager.
But with a family like her and knowing a family like the Argents she knows that her life will never be normal, but maybe that's a good thing.
Zaylee and her family have been living in their new house for at least three days. They have everything all set up and it actually feels like a home now. Their dad even got a job as a police officer while their mom got a job as a nurse. But today is Archer's and Zaylee's first day at Beacon Hills High.
Archer was only a year older than Zaylee and often teased her for being younger, but he was protective of her, sometimes so protective it's annoying.
The same goes for her dad, Xander. She knows they mean well and don't want her to get hurt, but she deserves to have some space and she should be able to make her own decisions now.
After she woke up she took a quick shower, got dressed into a maroon t-shirt, blue jeans, a blue jacket and sneakers.
Just as she was tying her shoe laces her brother yelled, " Hurry up if you want a ride to school!"
" Calm down, I'm on my way!" she yelled back to him.
Once she finished tying her shoe laces she grabbed her backpack and phone and ran down the stairs seeing that he was waiting for her at the door, dressed and ready to go.
" Come on, let's go." Archer said as he opened the door and walked to his truck.
Zaylee closed the door behind her, making sure it was locked as she went over to her brother's truck and got in. Their parents were already gone since they both left for work when Zaylee and her brother were getting ready.
They arrive to the school and once Archer parks his truck besides a blue colored jeep they get out and head walk over to the school after he locked the truck.
As they walk up the steps they see multiple students outside, talking and hanging out or walking inside of the school together and she noticed that some of them had lacrosse sticks in their bag.
" It appears that they have lacrosse here...are you gonna try out?" Zaylee asked as she glanced at her brother knowing that he liked lacrosse and was good at it. He was on the lacrosse team at their old school, and was one of the best players on the team. He probably would've been the team captain if they stayed in the town longer.
After a moment of silence he shrugs his shoulders and said, " I might."
After going to the Principal and getting their schedule and everything else they needed they found out that they had a few classes together despite being in different grades and weren't surprised that their lockers were by each other.
" At least our lockers are by each other." Archer smiles, trying to be positive noticing that Zaylee didn't look happy as she looked around the hallway at everyone that was hanging out with people they knew. He knew that she never liked moving to different places.
" Yeah, I guess." she sighs. " But it's going to be so weird. We don't know anyone here."
" We normally don't know anyone anywhere we move to." Archer chuckles. " But it's the perfect time to make some friends."
He sent her a small smile and playfully elbowed her just as the bell rang for class to start. " You'll be fine. And you can come find me if you ever need me."
Zaylee slowly nodded and after they side hug they depart ways to their first class. As she glances around the hallway she wishes that there was a map to this school because she thinks she already got lost.
She groans as she stops in the empty hallway, knowing that she won't find the classroom anytime soon by herself. " Of course I get lost on my first day."
" Do you need some help?"
Zaylee jumps, startled by the voice and turns around to see a boy that looked to be around her age walking over to her.
He had brown colored hair, beautiful dark brown eyes, a kind smile and if she looked at the right angle she could see that his jawline was a little crooked, but he was still probably the cutest boy she has ever seen which was why she was a stuttering mess at the moment.
" I, um, yeah. I'm, uh, lost." Zaylee managed to say and sighed in frustration at how embarrassing she was. She looked at him as he let out a small laugh.
" Yeah, I figured you were." the boy chuckled lightly.
" You've been standing in a empty hallway for a few minutes looking like a lost puppy." he said and his eyes widened realizing what he said. " I wasn't staring at you! I mean, I was, but I wasn't trying to be creepy or anything, I just-"
Zaylee laughed, finding it slightly amusing and a bit cute as he rambled. " Can you help me find this classroom?" she asked, interrupting his sentence and showed him her schedule.
The boy smiled as he looked at her schedule. " We have almost every class together. I can walk with you to our first class."
She smiled. " That's great, thanks."
" Oh, um, I'm Scott Mccall, by the way." Scott introduced himself.
He then handed her schedule back to her and nervously rubbed the back of his neck. " I probably should've told you my name at the beginning."
Zaylee chuckled and held onto the schedule. " It's okay."
She then smiled at him. " It's nice to meet you Scott. I'm Zaylee Beckett."
