OJ Simpson (Part One)

So before we begin, this is just one of the cases that have fascinated me so I kinda of want to talk about it. However know that it will be broken down into two parts. Part One will be the background of the people involved, what happened leading up to the events and than everything up to the trail. The second part will be the trial itself. This is because there is so much to talk about and so I want to kinda break it up.

Also, I started writing this before and was half way through when Wattpad said "hahahahah fuck you" and froze and completely deleted everything I had written. Anyway, let's jump into it.

Orenthal James Simpson, better known as OJ Simpson was born on July 9th of 1947 in San Francisco, California. He grew up pretty poor and was amazingly athletic but he didn't do well in school. People he grew up with recalled him to be well liked and a charmer. However some of his childhood friends have said that he was the type to always feel the need to be the center of attention.

On June 24th, 1967, at the young age of 19, OJ got married to his first wife Marguerite L Whitley. Together they had three children, 1 girl and 2 boys. Tragically, they lost their youngest son in their pool in an accident. The death of their child really impacted their marriage and in 1979 they got divorced.

OJ is most well known for his skill in football. OJ was the star running back for The University of South Carolina and in 1969 OJ was drafted first round to The Buffalo Bills. He became the second leading runner in NFL history & was inducted into the pro football hall of fame in 1985. After his football career he stared in rental car commercials where he would run through airports and found roles in movies such as The Naked Gun trilogy.

In 1977, while still married to his wife, OJ went to a nightclub called Daisy's. That is where he met Nicole Brown. They immediately hit it off and almost everyone called it love at first sight. Nicole was only 18 while OJ was 30.

Nicole Brown was born on May 19th of 1959 in Frankfurt, West Germany. She was described as someone well liked, kind and very down-to-earth.

When she met OJ she was living with a friend who says he had worries about the relationship when Nicole came back from her first date with OJ. According to David LaVon, Nicole came back with her pants ripped. He asked her what happened and she told him that OJ was being forceful and ripped her pants. David said from that point on he had worries about him but he said Nicole ensured him that she really liked him.

On February 2nd, 1985 OJ and Nicole got married and in October of the same year Nicole gave birth to their first daughter. 3 years later she also gave birth to their first son.

Even though this was thought of as love at first sight they did have a lot of problems. They fought constantly and many suspected some type of abuse although it was never really proven. In 1992 Nicole filed for divorce.

Now we are going to jump forward to June 12, 1994. On that day at 4 pm Nicole and OJs daughter had a dance recital. While OJ was late getting there he did show up. Now Nicole made it very obvious she wanted nothing to do with OJ to the point OJ say somewhere else. People that were there recalled it saying there was a lot of tension and hatred between the two.

Around 6 pm the dance recital was finished and they decided to go out to eat. But the Brown family made it clear that OJ was not welcomed to join them. They went to Mezzaluna and around 8, when they were finished, they went to get all the kids ice cream at an ice cream shop and went home.

Around 9:30 her mom, Judith Brown, realized she left her glasses back at the restaurant. She called Nicole to see if she could get them for her. Nicole called a friend of hers who worked at the restaurant, Ron Goldman. He agreed to bring them to Nicole to give back to her mother.

I don't know a whole lot of Ron Goldman but he was born in July 2nd of 1968. He was well liked and loved his parents. People suspected he had a crush on Nicole or that they had a romantic relationship but nothing can be proven about that.

Now let's talk about what OJ did after the recital. While it isn't known what he did from 6 to 9, at 9 pm OJ and his friend, Brian Cato, went to McDonalds for dinner. Around 9:45 OJ and Brian went back to OJs house. Brain went to the guest house where he was staying and left OJ alone at this time.

Around 10:55 a man named Stephan Schwann was walking when he saw a dog at the corner. It's also important to note that around 10:15 neighbors of Nicole reported that her dog were barking non stop. The dog that Stephan found was Nicole's dog. Stephan brought the dog to another neighbors house. That neighbor saw red dots which he assumed to be blood. He let the dog go and followed it. The dog lead him back home where he came upon the bloody crime scene.

It was such a horrible, horrible crime scene. Now I'm not going to be showing the photos out of respect for the dead. I just don't feel right showing them. If you want to see the crime photos feel free to google them, but I'm not going to be showing them. But it really was horrific, gruesome and bloody.

Both Nicole and Ron both died of multiple stabbing and slashing wounds. Ron also had multiple defensive wounds. Nicole was found on the steps of her condo with her feet underneath the fence. Ron was found just feet away in the fetal position.

At the scene there was a black beanie like cap, bloody boot prints and a bloody leather glove.

At the time, Nicole and OJs children were inside the condo sleeping in their beds.

That night OJ got on a flight to Chicago at 11:45. By the time he was contacted about Nicole's death he was already in Chicago but he did voluntarily go back to LA.

Let's talk about that call really quick. People found this very suspicious because if you got a call saying that a loved one had died you might ask "what," in disbelief or shock or you might ask "how," because you'd be curious as to how they died. But neither of those questions were asked by OJ.

When they told him Nicole had died his response was "who killed her." They didn't tell OJ that she was murdered, they told him she had died. So why would his first question be that?

The night of the murders OJ ordered a limo to take him to the airport to go to Chicago. The limo driver said he got there a little early and said there were no lights on, he didn't see any vehicles and around 10:56 he said he saw a man who looked like OJ entering OJs home. Just a couple of minutes later OJ buzzed down to the limo driver and told him he was taking a shower and that he'd be down soon.

Now, the glove that was found at the crime scene was tested for DNA and there were three different DNA samples found: Nicole, Ron and OJ.

Something that bothers many people however is that right after checking out the crime scene at Nicole's home they immediately went to OJs house. Now the defense argued that they went there to try to frame OJ (which I'll get into a bit more in a bit) however the official word was that they went there to inform him about Nicole's death since at the time they didn't know he was in Chicago.

When they arrived to his home a police officer noticed what he thought was blood on OJs white bronco. This lead the police to think OJ might have been a victim as well. They then started to search for him. Cato let the police in and told them that OJ was in Chicago. He also told them that while he was in the guest house he heard loud thumps and the picture on the wall started to shake a bit. But since it was California he figured it was just a small earthquake.

The police started looking around and that was when they found another leather glove. They also found droplets of blood leading to and going into his home as well as a bloody sock in his bedroom and blood inside of the bronco. The blood was tested and it matched Nicole and Ron. The glove also had blonde hair on it.

They retraced OJs steps to try to find a murder weapon. They even went as far as to search the plane her flew on and the hotel room he stayed at in Chicago. But they found nothing.

During their marriage, OJ and Nicole hung out a lot with another couple, Robert and Kris Kardashian. Nicole and Kris became best friends and Robert and OJ became best friends. Robert also became one of OJs defense attorneys.

By the time the trail began Kris and Robert were no longer married. Kris was with Bruce Jenner at that time and was pregnant with Kendall, who she actually named after Nicole (cause Kendall's middle name is Nicole if you didn't know.) Kris was asked about it and Kris admitted that Nicole would come to her fearful and afraid of OJ. Kris even said that Nicole told her that she felt OJ was going to kill her and get away with it.

Robert went to OJs home the day after the murders and when he left he had a bag. If you look at the photos of this bag it definitely looks like there was something in it.

Robert was even ordered to turn in the bag and was ordered not to touch anything in the bag and bring it in as is. Robert brought the bag in immediately, but it was empty.

Police wanted to interrogate Robert about what was in the bag but couldn't. Why? Because Robert was OJs attorney and it would have been in violation of attorney/client privilege. So they couldn't question Robert about the bag.

On June 16th, 1994 Nicole and Ron were laid to rest. This was also the time that OJ went missing. So many news outlets were covering it. Everyone wondered where OJ was. Robert found a note from OJ and read it on national tv and many interpreted it to be a suicide note. His attorneys had stated that OJ had been severely depressed.

At 6:50 that night a white bronco was spotted on interstate 5. OJ was driving the car with a gun pointed towards his own head.

OJ told the police all he wanted to do was go home and the police allowed it but begged him to toss the gun out of the window but OJ refused. This chase went on for 2 hours until he arrived at his home and the police were able to negotiate with OJ and they arrested him.

Now to close this first part out I wanna discuss a few things.

Ron Goldman has at least 20 defense wounds. If you have never watch an episode of Law and Order or just don't know what that means, a defense wound is a wound that occurs when someone defends themselves. These wounds could be cuts, scrapes, bruises... but they aren't a result of the act that causing them to defend themselves.

Ron and OJ were the same height but Ron was 20 years younger than OJ and took self defense classes and with upwards of 20 defense wounds he most likely put up a good fight. That would mean the killer would probably have wounds themselves. This could also be scratches, bruises, cuts... However OJ only had one cut on his hand. Far less than you would expect if someone defended themself against you.

Also, during this era there was a lot of racial tension, even more than what there is today. This happened around the time of the LA riot. There was a ton of distress between the police and the community, especially when it came to people of color. 60% of people of color (at that time) believe OJ had been set up with some type of racial motivation.

Most of America believed he was innocent because of who he was. He was one of the most beloved men in America. He was so well known and charming that people didn't want to believe he was capable of something like this. People now a days are more likely to believe that OJ is guilty.

The last thing I want to tell y'all about this is that there was another DNA sample. When examining Nicole's body they found DNA underneath her nails but it didn't match either Ron or OJ. But it was never discovered who's DNA it was.

Part two will be published soon. I want to dive into some conspiracy theories before continuing this case cause there really is a lot to this.
