Star Wars

[OVERVIEW]

Star Wars has had many movies, shows and books created.

And if you like Star Wars I suggest subscribing to Star Wars Theory in YouTube. They have an awesome channel.

Anyway, onto the theories.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF ANY OF THESE HAVE BEEN PROVEN TRUE OR FALSE IN ANY CANON MATERIAL I AM SORRY. EVEN THOUGH I LIKE WATCHING THE MOVIES IM CONFUSED AS TO WHAT THE HELL IS EVEN HAPPENING HALF THE TIME.

[K2SO DOOMED HIS ENTIRE LINE OF DROIDS]

One of the breakout stars of Rogue One was K2SO,  the pleasant-yet-sinister droid voiced by Alan Tudyk. K2SO was formerly an Imperial droid, but was reprogrammed to serve the Rebellion. The ending of Rogue One, however, ensured that the Empire now had a pretty good idea of which type of droid played a role in the Rebellion's victory.

This would likely lead to the Empire shutting down production of that line of droids, due to their susceptibility to hacking. We never see any similar droids in the "later" films, which means K2SO probably doomed his droid line to obsolescence. You know, since Rogue One really needed to be sadder.

[FATHER / SON BATTLE]

This theory explains how Darth Vader was so easily overpowered by his then sort-of wimpy son, Luke, at the climax of Return of the Jedi.

Luke had recently learned that Leia was his sister, something that was obviously weighing on his mind as he battled Vader. It's hard to imagine that a powerful Force-user like Darth Vader wouldn't have picked up this thought from Luke, a revelation that had to hit him like a ton of bricks. Not only did Vader learn he had a daughter, he also would have realized that he had already tortured her and blew up her home planet. That would be enough to distract anyone, let alone Anakin Skywalker.

[STORM TROOPERS]

People love to laugh at Storm Troopers. For an elite military force from an evil, galaxy-spanning empire, the Storm Troopers are ridiculously incompetent. They go down easily, and they can't seem to hit anything on their way down. Their fancy, high-tech blasters might as well shoot glitter. Troopers are great at incinerating Luke's foster parents, but somehow fail to hit a single protagonist throughout the entire series.

Thankfully, Rogue One's Chirrut Imwe may have finally explained why this is. As explained by Reddit user u/drewgarr, Imwe makes a bold stand against an onslaught of blaster fire at the climax of the film, walking through it unharmed while chanting about the Force. He avoids getting hit until he accomplishes his goal, while his partner Baze Malbus gets shot pretty much immediately afterwards. Imwe was Force-sensitive, while Malbus was not.

Therefore, the Force may provide a shield of sorts that is particularly good at deflecting blaster bolts. This would explain why Storm Troopers can't seem to hit Luke, Leia, Obi-Wan, and other Force-sensitive individuals throughout the series.

[OBI-WAN DID RECOGNIZE R2-D2 & C3PO]

If the in-film canon and Expanded Universe m of Star Wars have proven anything, it's that R2-D2 and C-3PO are around for basically every important event in the galaxy's history. That's what makes it so confusing when Obi-Wan appears to not recognize the droids when he encounters them in A New Hope. Or does he?

The crafty old Jedi responds to Luke saying R2 belongs to him with, "I don't seem to remember ever owning a droid," which is technically true, because Obi-Wan never did "own" R2 or C-3PO. Furthermore, Obi-Wan makes a comment that suggests he's more than aware of R2's impressive capabilities. Pointed out by Reddit user u/sjogerst, Obi-Wan casually mentions that R2-D2, "should be able to interpret the entire Imperial network," when he plugs him into the docking bay control room. That's an insane thing to assume about a random astromech droid if you had never met him before.

So, why then did Obi-Wan never tell Luke the story of R2-D2 and C-3PO?

[HAN SOLO SACRIFICED HIMSELF]

The most shocking moment of The Force Awakens was when Kylo Ren's lightsaber ended his father's life. This act of patricide was supposed to consolidate Kylo's transformation into Snoke's apprentice, but one fan theory argues Kylo failed to do this.

We never actually see who triggered the saber, as both characters are holding it when it activates. But why would Han do something so terrible in front of his own child? It was a heroic but desperate act -- Han sacrificed himself to prevent his son from bearing the weight of the act, and turning fully to the Dark side.

[QUI-GON JINN IS A BAD JEDI]

Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon Jinn is considered to be one of The Phantom Menace's saving graces, but was he really that good of a Jedi? Think about it: he consistently fails to sense danger when it's right on top of him and he fails to Jedi mind trick.

Rather than have a place on the esteemed Jedi Council, he gets shipped off to backwater planets as a glorified bodyguard. Although, considering that he ignores the warnings of literally all of his peers to train a future Darth Vader, you can see why he's so low ranking.

[ANAKINS LIGHTSABER]

If Rey really doesn't have any Skywalker blood in her veins, then how was she able to draw Anakin Skywalker's old lightsaber to herself over the pull of Anakin's own grandson? Either Rey is somehow far stronger with the Force than Kylo, or lightsabers are more magical than we realize.

One theory states that the crystal-powered weapons have enough sentience to choose their masters for themselves, and Anakin's saber -- sensing Rey's potential -- chose its new wielder, like the wands in Harry Potter.

[ANAKIN MIND TRICKED PADMA]

If we believe Jedi prophecies and Midi-Chlorian counts, Anakin was one of the strongest Force-users who ever lived. Strong enough, perhaps, to subtly manipulate Padme Amidala for months into thinking she was in love with him.
It would explain how an intelligent, rationally-minded politician fell for a tantrum-prone teenager who openly admitted that he hated the democratic system she championed and took dozens of innocent lives.

[ANAKIN FULFILLED HIS PROPHECY]

Qui-Gon Jinn was convinced that Anakin Skywalker was the "chosen one" fated to "bring balance to the Force" by the Jedi. The Council weren't so sure and, after Anakin eventually showed his red and black Sith colors, they seemed vindicated in their judgement.

Some fans think that Anakin did do what he was destined to, though, by destroying the oppressive Jedi Order and, in the end, the Sith as well. As Luke came to understand, if the Force is a natural force that is neither good nor bad, and is not owned by anyone, Anakin restored it to its natural balanced state.

[STAR TREK JOKE]

The official inspiration for the Trade Federation that was active during the twilight years of the Galactic Republic was the British East India trading company. However, there's speculation that the Federation is also secretly a big jab at that other popular space franchise, Star Trek.

Not only could the Trade Federation be a reference to the United Federation of Planets, but it's led by aliens called Neimoidians, which sounds a lot like (Leonard) Nimoy-dians. To add even more weight, allegedly, the race's original name was "Shatnerians" in an early version of the script.

[WHY PADME REALLY DIED]

The cause explained in the movies was of a broken heart, which didn't sit well with fans. While it is possible to die of a broken heart fans didn't want to believe that's the reason she died. Some fans took it as she died due to irrevocable complications during labor, which can also happen.

Other more interesting theories propose the Force was the culprit, or rather, Padme's sensitivity to it while carrying hers and Anakin's children. Padme's life ended either because her link with Anakin was destroyed or because she symbiotically suffered while he was tortuously becoming Darth Vader.

[FORCE CAN CONTROL TIME]

One of the biggest problems people have with Empire Strikes Back is Luke's suspiciously fast rise from novice to pro under Yoda's unconventional tutelage. We don't exactly know how much time passes while he's on Dagobah, but one fan theory suggests that Yoda is powerful enough to use the Force to slow down time on the planet.

Like The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, what feels like years to Luke is days to everyone else. Considering the incredible things we've seen Jedi and Sith do with the Force -- shooting lightning, Force ghosts, etc. -- tinkering with time doesn't seem impossible.
