⊱ ───ஓ๑♡๑ஓ ─── ⊰
"This is so stupid," Tara muttered to herself, opening one eye to look at her still-human hand. "What am I even supposed to be doing here?" she asked, looking over at Scott, Stiles, and Kenna.
"Focusing," Scott said simply.
Tara furrowed her brows at him. "It's six in the morning? How do you expect me to focus when I can barely keep my eyes open?" she asked quickly.
Stiles shrugged, "Maybe you should have gotten more sleep?" he suggested.
Tara blinked, slowly craning her neck to look at Stiles. "Maybe I would have gotten more sleep if I hadn't decided to go after you last night and spend most of it paralyzed on the pool deck," she said through gritted teeth.
Stiles scoffed, "You're being moodier than usual," he pointed out.
Tara pursed her lips, "Like I said, lack of sleep," she said simply.
Kenna frowned, "Tara, please tell me you're not mad about last night," she told her. "Look I told you, I couldn't get into the school because every fucking door was locked. Plus I was getting bombarded by this freak named," she paused her voice trailing off. Kenna's face scrunched up as if she was trying to remember something. "Max? Martin? Morgan? M- m- m- whatever, it doesn't matter because he's irrelevant anyways," she decided.
Tara sighed, "I'm not mad," she reiterated. "I just have a lot on my plate and closing my eyes waiting for my hand to grow claws isn't helping."
Scott shook his head, "That's why I said to focus," he repeated.
Tara groaned placing her hands back at her side. "Well, obviously, that's not working."
"Maybe you just need to try harder?" Stiles suggested.
Tara glared at him, "Wow, Stiles, thanks for your advice. I never could have thought of that by myself," she said sarcastically.
Kenna placed a hand on her friend's shoulder. "Hey, Tara, maybe you should just go back home and sleep? You can afford to skip a day of school."
Tara shook her head, "No, no, I'm fine," she insisted. "Plus my mom would most likely kill me. Sleeping the day away won't get us any closer to finding out who that thing-," she paused for a second, looking at Scott and Stiles. "What did Derek say that thing was again?"
"Kanima," Scott answered for her.
Tara nodded, "Thank you. Kanima. If I leave then it won't get us any closer to finding the Kanima," she finished.
"We could probably do it without you," Stiles chimed in. "No offense," he added, as if that helped anything.
"Stiles, don't," Scott warned him, "Tara's been helpful."
Stiles winced, "I wouldn't use that exact word," he said.
Tara frowned, "Oh please, enlighten me, what word would you use?" she challenged him, taking a step closer to him.
Stiles tilted his head. "Annoying, ignorant, a pain in my ass maybe?"
Tara forcefully poked him in his chest, causing Stiles to take a few steps back. "You wanna repeat that and maybe say that shit to my face?" she asked.
Stiles shook his head, "No, I stand by everything I said. It did get you to do that though," he said, pointing to her nails which had turned from her neatly painted dark red nails to long claws. "You're welcome."
Kenna laughed before covering her hand with her mouth, noticing the look that Tara had given her. "Sorry, but he did help you, in a weird roundabout way," she pointed out.
Tara pursed her lips glancing back down at her claws. "You're lucky I'm not tearing you limb from limb right now," she threatened, glaring at Stiles.
"Huh, weird way to say thank you but I accept," Stiles told her.
Tara groaned, "I'm not thank you, but thanks, I guess," she finished stubbornly.
⊱ ───ஓ๑♡๑ஓ ─── ⊰
Tara sank into her seat in her english classroom, blankly staring at the chalkboard ahead of her. She was extremely tired from about an hour and a half of trying her best to control when her claws came out. Scott kept on reminding her it was all about focus, but she couldn't pull herself to do it. It's not that she wasn't able to do it. She could as evidenced by Stiles stunt he pulled, as just wasn't able to activate them herself, which was ridiculous because it felt like everyone else was able to do it. Even everyone Derek had turned recently seemed like they were further ahead than she was.
She sighed as she put her head in her hands. Maybe Kenna was right, maybe she should've slept off the rest of the day. Then, just maybe, Tara would be able to focus on getting herself ready for whatever quote, unquote war was coming her way
"Psst," a voice behind the girl sounded. "Peters."
Tara groaned, pulling her hands up before she turned around, coming face to face with Isaac Lahey, who was sitting in the desk behind her. He had a loose grin on his face as he looked her up and down. His newly sported leather jacket clung to his frame as he rested his arms on the flat surface of the desk. "Lahey," she said with a small nod.
Isaac scoffed quietly, "What, you're not excited to see me?" he asked.
Tara held back a laugh, "Should I be?" she retorted raising her brow, trying to study his face for his reaction.
Isaac shrugged, "I dunno, just making conversation," he answered, his face remaining the same.
"And you chose to talk to me?" Tara responded. "Wow, how did I get so lucky?" she said sarcastically.
"Well, I do sit behind you so it isn't that hard of a choice," Isaac responded, his smile still not wavering. "It's more like I'm forced to talk to you."
Tara let a laugh slip out that time, "Forced, huh?" she said with a small chuckle. "You know, when don't have to talk to each other. We could just sit here, in silence. Nice, calm, peaceful, silence," she suggested.
"True, but that's not fun," Isaac responded. "Plus they seem to be fairly annoyed by it," he said briefly looking over his shoulder to nod at Scott and Stiles.
Tara followed his eyesight to a very disgruntled Stiles, and a surprisingly normal-looking Scott. She rolled her eyes as she looked back at Isaac. "They'll be fine," she asserted. Tara rested her chin on her hand. "So, out of curiosity, what are you guys planning?" she asked.
"You guys?" Isaac replied, confused by her phrasing.
"You, Erica, Boyd, Derek. What are you planning?" Tara repeated.
Isaac scoffed, "You think I'm gonna answer that just because you asked?" he shot back.
"What if I said please while batting my eyelashes," Tara said sarcastically. "Would that do anything for you?"
"Hmmm," Isaac sounded. "Tempting, but no. And if you're trying to seduce me, Peters, it's not working," he whispered.
Tara shook her head, "If I was trying to seduce you, Lahey, we wouldn't be here right now. So, do you wanna tell me what you're planning or do you wanna keep playing these little mind games?"
Isaac leaned forward a little, looking the girl directly in her eyes. "And what makes you think we're planning anything at all?" he asked.
Tara rolled her eyes, "Because Derek wouldn't send you back to school without an agenda," she stated simply.
Isaac tilted his head at the girl, as he leaned back in his seat. "Fair enough," he admitted. "I'm still not gonna tell you anything, though."
Tara smiled, "I think you already did. Welcome back, Lahey," she said coolly, before spinning back in her chair to face the front.
After the class had ended, Tara tried her best to slip out of the classroom without anyone noticing. However, her plan was unsuccessful as Scott and Stiles accosted her as she snuck into the hallway. "What were you talking to him about?" Stiles asked her almost instantly. Tara sighed as she adjusted the straps on her backpack.
"Oh, so now you think I can be helpful?" Tara asked sourly looking over her shoulder to glare at him. "Glad to see where your priorities lay, Stilinski."
Stiles groaned, picking up his pace so he could walk next to her. "Okay, I just said that so you would get mad a threaten me with your claws," he told her.
Tara clicked her tongue, "See I remember that conversation going a lot differently than you do," she said. "Besides you two," she continued, pointing from Stiles to Scott. "Have bigger problems to worry about than whatever they're planning. Kanima, remember? Did you guys find out anything?"
Scott furrowed his brows, "Wait, they're planning something?" he asked, disregarding the question at the end of her sentence.
"And he told you that willingly?" Stiles added.
Tara rolled her eyes, "I am surrounded by idiots," she muttered to herself. "No, he didn't tell me I figured it out for myself because I'm not fucking stupid. Okay, think about it, why else would Isaac be back at school if Derek wasn't planning something? Or do you guys just not know how to read context clues?"
Scott sighed as the group stopped in front of Coach's classroom. "She's right," he told Stiles.
"Thank you," Tara responded, even though she knew that it was obvious.
"Okay, well do you know what they're planning?" Stiles asked as he pushed through the entrance to the classroom. Scott and Tara followed in his wake.
Tara shook her head. "No," she said simply as she sat down in her seat behind Stiles.
Stiles looked back, raising his eyebrow at her. "Are you sure about that?" he challenged.
"Yes, what is your issue with me today?" Tara snapped, raising her voice slightly.
Stiles held up his hands defensively. "Nothing, nothing. I'm just making sure, that's all."
Tara scoffed, "Well, you should focus your energy elsewhere, okay?"
"Jesus, okay," Stiles said, setting his hands back down on his desk. "Anyways to answer your question from before. I only found one thing online called a Kanima– it's a werejaguar from South America that goes after murderers," he explained.
"That thing was not a jaguar-" Scott pointed out.
"Yeah, and I'm not exactly a murderer," Stiles added.
"That we know of," Tara muttered under her breath, earning herself a small head shake from Scott.
"Yeah, but you did see it kill somebody," Scott told his friend. "Which is probably why it tried to kill you, and it's still trying to kill you and it probably won't stop until you're dead."
Stiles made a small offended noise. "You know, sometimes I really begin to question this 'friendship'."
Before Tara could respond, Jackson Whittmore took a seat in the desk to the left of her. "Hey testicle left and right," he said, obviously referring to Scott and Stiles. "What the hell is a Kanima?" Scott, Stiles, and Tara shared terrified looks before turning to Jackson, who was a little surprised to have three pairs of eyes looking at him instead of two.
"Okay, what the hell does she know?" Jackson asked, glaring at Tara.
Tara scoffed, "Apparently a lot more than you do," she retorted.
No one was able to get another word in though as Coach loudly slammed a stack on papers down on his desk at the front of the classroom. "All right, listen up! A quick warning before we begin our review. Some of you, like McCall," he started, causing Scott to look at him in confusion. "-might want to start their own study groups, because tomorrow's midterm is so profoundly difficult. I'm not even too sure I could pass it." Coach took a quick survey of the class before he continued. "Okay, I need a volunteer at the board to answer the first question. Who's got it, huh?"
Tara kept her hand down as she was more interested in why Jackson Whittemore, of all people, wanted to know about the Kanima. "Come on, let's go, buddy," Coach said, picking someone at the back of the class that Tara couldn't be bothered to remember the name of.
Jackson then told them some batshit crazy story about how he was dragged from the Beacon Hills weight room and kidnapped by Erica to go through some 'test' by Derek using Kanima venom to see if he would react. Which didn't make a whole lot of sense to Tara, but none of this did.. Tara tried to wrap her brain around the fact that Jackson had anything to do with the supernatural world or why Derek thought he did. Well, Derek did know Tara was a werewolf before she did. Who's to say he didn't have the same feeling about Jackson?
"Paralyzed from the neck down," Jackson hissed, bringing Tara's attention back to him. "Do you have any idea what that feels like?" he asked.
"Yeah, some of us here are familiar with the sensation," Stiles responded as he and Tara exchanged knowing looks.
Scott blinked as he looked back at Jackson. "Wait, why would Derek test you? Why would he think that it's you?" he asked, stating the exact question that was on Tara's mind.
"How should I know?" Jackson said defensively.
"Wait, do they think it's Lydia?" Stiles asked.
"I don't know!" Jackson said sharply. "All I heard was her name and something about chemistry."
Tara frowned, "Lydia? What does Lydia have to do with this?" she asked.
"He overheard Isaac and Erica talking about Lydia, have you been listening?" Stiles retorted.
Tara crossed her arms over her chest. "I have been listening, Stilinski, but I'm more preoccupied with the fact that Jackson fucking Whittemore asked about the Kanima, and why you two don't seem surprised that he knows about all this, you know, supernatural shit."
Jackson clicked his tongue irritably. "You know I could say the same thing about you, Tara Peters. I don't remember you being mixed up in all this earlier," he told her.
"Jackson!" Coach said sharply, interrupting the conversation between the four of them. "Do you have something you want to share with the rest of the class?" he asked.
Jackson's mouth opened and closed quickly. "Ummm," he stuttered. "Just an undying admiration from my- my coach!"
Coach looked taken aback for a second. "That's really kind of you," he said with a smile. "Now shut up!" he barked, causing the boy to jump. "Shut it!" he added menacingly before turning back to the class. "Anybody else?" he asked.
Scott waited for Coach to fully turn around before grabbing onto Stiles' shirt, pulling him to his right so he could whisper in his ear. Tara leaned forward in her seat even though she could hear Scott perfectly fine from where she was sitting. "How do we know it's not her?" he asked Stiles.
"Because I looked into the eyes of that thing, okay. And what I saw was pure evil," Stiles whispered. "And when I look into Lydia's eyes. I only see fifty percent evil." He paused for a second. "Alright, maybe sixty," he said, correctly himself.
"Weird, when I look into her eyes, I see a hundred percent evil," Tara said with a small smile. "That's just one girl's opinion though," she added, noticing the slightly annoyed look on Stiles' face as she spoke.
Stiles grimaced, "Well your opinion's wrong okay. It's no more than forty on a good day," he asserted.
"Stiles, that's not a very good argument," Scott told him.
Stiles sighed, "I'm aware of that, but I swear it's not her," he insisted. "It can't be, alright? Lydia's fine."
Tara rolled her eyes as she turned her attention back to the front of the classroom where the girl of the hour, Lydia Martin, had gotten up to answer one of Coach's review questions. She tilted her head ever so slightly as Lydia twirled the small piece of chalk between her fingers. Tara hated to admit it, but she wasn't sure if Lydia could be the Kanima. I mean, she wasn't 100% sure that this was the specific solution to their 'problem'. It could honestly be anyone in the school. I mean, outside of Scott and Derek's pack, Tara didn't really know how far the supernatural world spread. In fact, she didn't even know that Jackson knew, or actually what he knows. Maybe she needed to ask Scott more questions.
Tara blinked as she looked back up at the board where Lydia had began to furiously write on the board, but it didn't look right. Everything she wrote looked like complete gibberish to Tara. "What the hell," she whispered under her breath, squinting at the chalkboard to see if that did anything to un-muddy the waters of whatever Lydia was trying to write, but that did absolutely nothing. Other students seemed to notice that something was off with Lydia as the class started to whisper, pointing at the large swirl pattern that she was writing in. Lydia turned around slowly, the piece of chalk still in her hand. She stared ahead blankly, although it didn't look like she was staring at anything but the opposite wall. A single tear rolled down Lydia's face before Coach decided to step in.
"Lydia! Lydia!" he said causing the girl to blink hurriedly before staring at him. Lydia looked back at the board in horror as another tear fell off her cheek and onto the floor. Lydia didn't say anything, she just gulped before rushing back to her seat at the back of the classroom. "Okay, then. Anybody else want to try answering? This time in English?" he asked.
Scott narrowed his eyes at the words. "What is that, Greek?" he asked slowly.
Stiles shook his head as he took out his phone, snapping a quick photo of the board. "No, actually," he said, much to Tara's surprise. "I think it's English." He clicked a button on his phone, mirrored the image to reveal the phrase that Lydia was writing backward on the chalkboard.
"Someone help me," Tara read over Stiles shoulder, tilting her head at his phone screen. "Yeah, no, Lydia's fine," she said sarcastically, repeating his words back to him.
⊱ ───ஓ๑♡๑ஓ ─── ⊰
"Derek's not gonna kill her without proof," Scott said as the three of them walked into chemistry, where Jackson had said the incident, or whatever the hell Derek had planned, was gonna happen.
"Alright, so he tests her like he did with Jackson, right?" Stiles reasoned. "But when and where?"
Tara looked up from her hands and took the other entrance to the classroom where Erica and Isaac had strolled in. "Shit," she whispered under her breath, nudging both Stiles and Scott in their respective sides. "Look," she said as the pair glanced up, spotting the other werewolves almost instantly.
"I think the rest is happening here and now," Scott said, his eyes floating over to the two open spots next to Lydia Martin. Scott and Stiles instantly ran to the spots next to Lydia, blocking Erica and Isaac from getting to her, forcing them to sit at the table behind her. Tara took a deep breath in, avoiding the looks of both of the betas as she booked it to the table next to them, where her two friends were sitting.
"You're panicking," Kenna pointed out as Tara took the open seat between her and her twin. "Why?"
Tara sighed, "You want the long version or the short version?" she asked as the rest of the students began to slowly file into their seats.
"Whatever version you can tell before Harris starts talking," Kenna whispered.
Tara lowered her voice, even though it wouldn't matter because if Erica and Isaac wanted to listen to their conversation, they would be able to. "Okay you know how they were talking about the Kamina is morning?" she asked Kenna, who acknowledged her statement with a small nod.
"Was that the thing that killed the hunter?" Ronan chimed in.
"We think so," Tara responded. "Anyways, Derek seems to think this Kanima is either Jackson Whittemore or Lydia Martin, and according to Jackson, they had already tested him this morning, whatever that means. So they think that Isaac and Erica are taking this opportunity to try and test Lydia," she explained. "Again, whatever the hell this test is."
Kenna furrowed her brows as she looked past Tara and to Isaac and Erica. "And why do they think it's between Jackson and Lydia, of all people?" she asked, looking back at Tara.
Tara shrugged, "You're asking the wrong person," she said honestly. "I didn't even know Jackson was involved in this shit until last period. And Lydia, well who knows what's going on with her, she was acting weird in Coach's class."
"Weird how?" Ronan questioned.
"I don't know, she was writing things backward on the front board, staring off into nowhere, muttering under her breath," Tara listed off. "Like I said, weird."
"But not Kanima weird?" Ronan pressed.
Kenna blinked, "I don't even know what that fucking means," she told her twin.
"Yeah, neither do I," Tara whispered out of the corner of her mouth. "But if Lydia passes this test they're gonna kill her."
Kenna's eyes widened, "I beg your fucking pardon," she said a little louder than she intended. "Sorry, they're gonna what?" she asked, a lot quieter than her first outburst.
"She said they're gonna kill her, Ken," Ronan said answering for Tara.
"God fucking dammit," Kenna hissed under her breath as Harris stepped up to the front of the classroom.
"Einstein once said, 'Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity... and I not sure about the universe,'" Harris lectured weaving his way through the tables of students. "I myself have encountered infinite stupidity," he continued, stopping behind Stiles to pat him on the back. "So, to combat the plague of ignorance in my class, you're going to combine efforts through a round of ground experiments! Let's see if two heads are indeed better than one. Or, in Stilinski's case, less than one."
Tara stifled a small laugh as she placed her hand over her mouth, but honestly, she was way too worried about the fact that she might have to prevent someone's death in mere minutes. She had no idea how she was supposed to act in this situation, or how to stop Isaac and Erica from getting to Lydia. Tara's best option was to be a pain in both of their asses, and luckily for her, she did know how to do that.
"Erica, you take the first station," Harris continued. "You'll start with-" Before he could finish his sentence, a bunch of hands shot up into the air. Apparently, everyone wanted a chance to sit next to Erica. "I didn't ask for volunteers," Harris sneered. "Put your hormonal little hands down. Start with Mr. McCall. Alright, next two!"
Harris paused for a second, looking around the classroom. "Lydia and Allison, you two will sit at the next station. Then, maybe," his eyes scanned the sea of students in front of him. "Mr. Lahey and Miss Peters," Harris decided. "You'll take the third station."
'Perfect,' Tara thought to herself. 'All I have to do is convince Isaac not to kill Lydia. Seems doable... i hope.'
"Peters," Isaac hummed as he sat down next to Tara. "Funnily enough you are just the girl I wanted to talk to."
Tara raised her eyebrows as she reached for the lab booklet at the front of their desk. "Really? You wouldn't wanna chat to, hmmmm, I don't know, Lydia Martin?" she asked slyly.
"Just because I want to kill her doesn't mean I want to talk to her," Isaac said slowly, carefully looking at the lab equipment in front of them.
Tara clicked her tongue, "Right. So that's your grand plan. You're just gonna kill Lydia. In front of all of these witnesses? Given the fact that you just got out of jail, that is not a good look, Lahey," she reminded him.
"If you really think that's the plan then you underestimate me, Peters," Isaac told her, casually peaking over at the lab directions and grabbing the vile full of liquid from the front of the desk and pouring it into the larger graduated cylinder.
"I see," Tara sounded. "And would you care to tell me what the plan is?" she asked, her hand brushing against his ever so slightly.
"You're smart, I think you could figure it out on your own," Isaac said with a shake of his head.
Tara tilted her head, finally turning to look at him. "Are you sure you don't wanna tell me?" she asked once more.
"No, I don't think I do," Isaac retorted.
Tara shrugged, "It was worth a shot," she admitted.
Isaac rolled his eyes. "Look, your attempts to stop whatever you think is happening here. They're cute but they're not going to work," he told her simply. "Lydia's the Kanima and she's gonna have to die, it's as simple as that."
"Says who, Derek?" Tara asked, taking her pencil off of the desk to scribble some notes on the paper that weren't relevant to the conversation at hand.
Isaac cleared his throat, "Do you want the kanima off the table or not?" he asked.,
"Oh shit, I forgot, the leather jacket," Tara said, brushing her arm against Isaac's on the desk. "The standoffish demeanor, the confidence boost, your weird little flirty comments. You're a tough guy now. It's cute, but I just didn't realize that would also make you a murderer. And maybe I misjudged you but I don't think you want her blood on your hands. But if that's the case then I guess I never really knew you anyway," she said, shaking her head slightly. She picked up the graduated cylinder and glanced liquid in it, writing down an insignificant number in the lab booklet.
Isaac held back a scoff, "And when did you start caring about Lydia Martin?" he asked her, not bothering to pretend to do the experiment they were tasked with. "Or about what I decide to do?" he added.
"I don't care about Lydia and I certainly don't care what you do," Tara said quickly. "I just don't think that the answer to the kanima problem is killing someone who could be innocent."
Isaac sighed, "That's why we're testing her," he whispered. "Do you really think I would want to kill her if she wasn't the Kanima? I'm not a monster, Peters," he reminded her.
"I never said you were," Tara replied quietly. "I just think there are better options here. Consider them. And don't mistake this as me caring about what you do or caring about you in general, because I don't. Got it?" she asserted.
"I hate to break it to you, Peters, but you're making it sound like you do care," Isaac whispered, a small smirk spreading across his face.
"Well, I don't, so stop implying that I do," Tara said stubbornly.
Isaac opened his mouth to respond but before he could Harris' voice ran out across the classroom. "Switch!"
Isaac still looked like he waited to say something to Tara but he didn't have a chance to as she quickly stood up from her seat and sat down in the now empty chair next to Allison Argent. "Hi," she mumbled quietly as she glanced over at Allison.
"Hi," Allison responded slowly. "How- um, how much as Scott told you?" she asked.
Tara was a little taken aback by her question. "About what?" she responded.
"Um, I don't know, everything?" Allison asked.
Tara bit her lip, "A lot," she answered honestly. "But it's not his fault I kind of got thrown into all of this," she admitted. "And, for what it's worth, he told me to trust you," she added, picking up the tongs off of the table and placing the sugarcoated string into the test tube filled with water.
"Funny, he said the same thing about you to me," Allison told her. "So, do you?" she asked.
"Do I what?" Tara said carefully. "I'm a werewolf, Allison, I can't read minds," she said quietly. "You should know that as you're dating one."
"Do you trust me?" Allison asked simply.
Tara paused for a second, "Yes," she answered slowly. "Until you give me a reason not to."
A small ding sounded from the bell up at the front of the classroom. "Switch!" Harris said quickly, signaling them to change partners once more. Allison gave Tara a small smile before moving on to the next station, landing her next to Erica Reyes.
"You know, I don't really like your boyfriend," Stiles said with a frown as he sat down in the open seat next to Stiles.
Tara shook her head as she looked at Stiles, "Now what the hell are you-" she started but her face fell as she noticed who had gotten up from the seat that was next to Stiles' old station. "Oh," she finished, watching Isaac sit down next to Lydia. "Seriously, boyfriend?" she scoffed, tearing her eyes away from Isaac and back to Stiles. "You're out of your fucking mind. I don't even like the guy like, as a person. And you wanna come over and say he's my boyfriend? It's like you've lost braincells since the last time I've spoken to you. You're wrong, like majorly wrong."
"Really?" Stiles asked her.
"Yes, really," she repeated in a mocking tone. "What the hell is wrong with you? You should be concerned about your girlfriend Lydia and not about me," Tara asserted, pointing to the desk where Lydia and Isaac were currently sitting.
"Shit," Stiles cursed.
Tara shrugged, "Who knows maybe they won't decide to test her after all?" she suggested.
Stiles narrowed his eyes, "What makes you say that?" he asked quickly, staring down at the weird reaction happening in their graduated cylinder, although Tara didn't really care about that at this point.
"They could have had a change of heart, maybe?" Tara said slowly. The girl paused for a second. "Yeah, who am I kidding, they're gonna kill her," she said quickly, glaring at the back of Isaac and Lydia's jackets respectively.
"There's that negative energy I always look forward to. You know I was getting a little worried, but I'm glad to see that you are back to your good old grump-" Stiles started but Tara cut him off with a quick shake of her head.
"Yeah, yeah, I got it thanks, Stilinski," Tara said dismissively.
Harris rang the bell one more time. "Time!" he called. "If you've catalyzed the reaction correctly, you should now be looking at a crystal." Tara peeked down at the mess at the bottom of their cylinder as safe to say it did not look like the crystal that Harris described.
Tara frowned, "Yeah, I can definitely see how you failed our lab report that one time because this looks like shit," she said to Stiles, setting the glass back down on the desk.
"Now, for the part of that last experiment I'm sure you'll all enjoy," Harris told the class. "You can eat it!"
Tara and Stiles both looked down at whatever substance was in their glass and both silently decided there was no way in hell they were going to be eating whatever was in that thing. Lydia and Isaac's reaction however seemed to turn out perfect. Isaac smiled as he took out their crystal with a pair of silver tongs. He looked over at Lydia, offering her the piece of candy which she delightfully took out of the tongs and into her hands. Much to Tara's horror, Lydia slowly lifted the piece of candy to her lips, about to take a bite.
"Lydia!" Scott said loudly, jumping out of his seat.
Lydia turned back to glare at him. "What?" she asked defensively.
Scott looked around at all of the eyes on him. "Uh, nothing," he said awkwardly.
Lydia rolled her eyes as she took the piece of candy in her mouth and nothing. Absolutely nothing happened.
What the hell did that mean?
