Leon Storm

"Ah! Its so cold!!" I breathed out heavily as I laid on the couch holding a cup of hot chocolate in my hand. Its the starting of winter vacation and its way too cold here than the place I previously used to live. Looking at the falling snow outside I heaved a sigh of boredom.

"Being single really sucks!" I said out loud. Jade broke up with me all of a sudden two months ago as she had to permanently move out of the city. Sigh I'm gonna miss her. I was left home alone to take care of the house. Mom went to the grocery store and my arrogant twin went on her date with Axel. They have been dating for the past six months and are really happy. It feels nice to see the one you love is happy.

Suddenly the doorbell rang breaking my thoughts. I flipped off the couch making me fall hard on my butt. Pulling my aching butt off the tiled floor I went to open the door. Rubbing my butt I opened the door and was greeted by a woman who was trying real hard to hide her tears. It is mom.

I stopped what I was doing and went towards her. When she saw me she broke into tears and dropped her bags of groceries.
"What happened mom?" I panicked seeing her breaking down like this. I quickly hugged her and took her inside the house. After placing her on the couch I brought the groceries inside the kitchen counter.

I quickly went towards mom and hugged her tightly. She hugged me back and started sobbing uncontrollably. 
"Shh...mom stop crying and tell me what's the matter?" I asked her drawing little circles on her back in order to comfort her. She pulled away from me and looked into my eyes. She wiped her tears and turned to the other side. I turned her back towards me so that now she is looking at my eyes.

"What's happening mom?" I said my tone became serious and all my laziness flew out of the window in a second and a uneasy feeling spread inside me.

She remained silent. The room filled up with an eerie silence only the sobbing sounds of mom is heard. My legs automatically started to move underneath me. It always happens whenever I'm nervous.
I took a deep breath and looked at mom. "Mom tell me what happened? Why are you crying?" I said looking straight into her eyes. No one ever dared to look into her eyes before. And I don't know how I got the courage but I looked straight into her eyes without blinking for a second. After which felt like years mom finally spoke and the words that came out of her mouth left me heartbroken, that I couldn't stay there for a mere second.
I shot off the couch and made my way towards the main entrance. I could feel my legs moving on its own taking me away from this situation which I so badly don't even want it to exist.

After hours of running my legs gave away. I flopped on the soft cold icy sidewalks as hot tears slided down my face. I look at the open blue sky staring blankly at it. Don't know why people stare at the sky when they are sad as if an angel will come and wash  all the pains away. Bullshit.
I stood up from the the kneeling position while  making eye contract with some passerby that gave me an strange look. I shrugged at them looking at me like that but one face made me freeze in my spot.
