@LividLylie

Today we interview LividLylie, winner of The Sunflower Awards 3.0 in Horror/Paranormal genre. Join us as we learn more about their writing style and inspiration.

🌻

1. What inspired you to write 'Malthus'?

When I was younger I read Roald Dahl's book Witches and it had tips on how to write your one book on the back. So after that I started trying out things. And I'd written about 10 chapters of a paranormal book about monsters before I just didn't like it. So I went to my older brother and he told me to start again and gave me the plot on Malthus, and how I can have a series with different monsters each time. (Eg : Slenderman for the first book) So I edited that plot a bit and added my ideas to it and created Malthus.

2. What do you like about writing Horror/Paranormal genre?

The thrill. Like every time a scene with Malthus comes, I love writing the way the characters feel and how their hearts just start pumping so hard.

3. How did you feel when you found out you won in your genre for the Sunflower Awards?

I was really happy! Like I opened the chapter and I started smiling so much that my mom asked me what's with me. I mean I started writing this book in my 7th grade classroom as a fun activity. So for it to actually win something, that just made me really happy!

4. Who is your favorite character in your story and why?

Mhmm probably Cathy. I doubt she would be the readers favourite but I personally like her. She started off as an extremely awkward girl so it was really fun watching her cone out of her shell and open up to her friends. And I love how bold she is, despite everything she's gone through.

5. What does your writing process look like?

Oof. Not that great lol. Like I try my best to write on Fridays so that I can update on Saturday but when I get stuck, I remain stuck for about 2 weeks.

But other than that, I sometimes think about the new scenes in my bed when I'm unable to fall asleep, and then the next time I open my drafts, I write them down.

6. What inspires you to write?

A lot of things. I've been writing this book for 2 years now so I really want to get it done with before next year cuz I want to start focusing on my studies more. And then you get my readers. Or more like reader (bestfriendquad) who's really into the book. So I don't wanna keep her hanging for too long lol.

7. Do you have any advice for other writers?

Write only when you feel like writing. Don't try and force yourself if you've got writer's block, then your chapter won't be as good. And say you get stuck halfway through a chapter, read whatever you've written and the rest should just come to you :)

8. Who is your favorite author and why?

I'm gonna go with Roald Dahl. Even though it's been years since I've touched any of his books, they made a great impact on me when I was younger.

9. What do you like the most about Wattpad?

The people. Everyone is just so nice and accepting, like the entire community is amazing and I've been able to make so many good friends.

10. What is your favorite story on Wattpad?

The Undoing of Ryder Burke by clarifications. Like oml you've got to read this. I hadn't read a single book in months and then I thought I'll give Ryder Burke a try and I couldn't put it down.
