When Catherine Jones woke up on the floor in a school hallway holding an ugly old time dress she didn't know what to think. So she got up and went to the bathroom to wash her face and gather her bearings, only to see not her face, but the face of Katherine Pierce looking back at her.

And then it hit her. She had died. She had been in a house fire, trying to save her sister. She succeeded in saving the younger girl but in doing so she had gotten a dangerous amount of smoke in her lungs and very bad burns. By the time she had finally died she had been screaming in agony for hours.

Now, she was determined to live. She didn't care who she had to kill or who she had to manipulate; she was going to stay alive, and change things that definitely needed changing.

So she started making moves on the Salvatore brothers to get them into her grasp. She made moves on the blonde cheerleader too. She enrolled into school as Elena's long lost sister so that way the gang couldn't kill her if they turned on her, because everyone would start to notice if she was missing after her big reveal.

By the time Klaus came she had nearly everyone within her grasp, and she wasn't letting go. And it didn't matter anyways, because soon enough the big bad hybrid was also under her spell, along with his suit loving big brother.

It was once said that a pretty woman was dangerous. Well, a smart and cunning one is destructive.
