For years I'd been saying no. Now, at my lowest point, a drink didn't sound so bad. Toya was gone, Rei had a mental break and tarnished my masterpiece, the other children were frightened of me and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't seem to surpass All Might. [Preview]I moved further into the alley and peered behind the dumpster. My heart fell as I strained to see through the darkness and spotted a bright orange cat that appeared to be hurt. It was barely conscious, it's strange heterochromatic orbs struggling to stay open. "Sh. It's alright." I slowly extended my hand toward the cat. It let out a hiss but seemed too injured to move away from me. I couldn't reach it and had to push the dumpster out of my way. The ginger cat flinched and tried to get up to run. A yowl of pain escaped it and it fell back over, too weak to move. "I won't hurt you." I tried to reassure the frightened cat as I gently scooped it up and tucked it against my body trying to shield it from the rain. Despite my best efforts to not care or overthink things, I was still feeling nervous for my first day of high school. I wasn't sure what to expect from the coursework, it was sure to be tough. Once more, I thought I saw a flicker of a smile on her lips but it was gone the moment I focused my attention there. That seemed like an odd request. "Alright." I nodded and held her glowing gaze. My resolve was starting to slip. This didn't feel right, something in me didn't want to kill this girl. As if she sensed my resolve beginning to waver, she offered me a meek smile, "if it's any consolation, I promise I won't haunt you." My hand felt a little unsteady. Why was this so difficult? I grit my teeth and tightened my grip on the blade. I couldn't fail this test. I drove the blade into her chest and felt my blood turn cold as her lips pulled into a maniacal grin. Her thin corpse complexioned hand encircled my bare wrist. How the hell did she get loose? Sometimes the people who smile the brightest are the most broken.... Endeavor looked around the conference room filled with his sidekicks. He took a quick mental headcount and frowned. The newest recruit, the UA student he'd offered a work study position to, was late. There was a faint pop above, causing everyone to look up as a petite girl with long snow-white hair and bright golden hued green eyes wearing a skin tight green accented silver bodysuit appeared out of thin air. She glanced downward and let out a squeak as she plummeted toward the ground. Sighing, Endeavor kicked a nearby plush rolling chair across the floor to break her fall. She toppled into the plush chair with a giggle that brought a smile to everyone's face. Her name was Ridley and she was a second year at UA. She had interned with his agency during her first year as a UA student. All of his sidekicks were surprised when he'd offered her to continue working with them. He was even considering offering her a full-time position as one of his sidekicks once she graduated from UA. No one expected him to like the bubbly energetic youth since he often came across as surly and far too serious whereas the youth seemed to be a little bit of an airhead. Ridley was almost never serious, there was always a bright happy smile on her face and everywhere she went she left laughter and smiles in her wake. She brightened everyone's days, spreading cheer and goodwill to all who crossed her path. Perhaps that was why Endeavor had decided to keep her, he wasn't immune to her charms though he rarely smiled she did cheer him up and give him hope.
