But then her magic decides to send her home for lunch break one day, and she not only finds out about a curse that's taken hold of her way back when she was only six years old, but also reconnects with her childhood friend (who's considerably less alive now). However, she gets much more than she bargains for when one of the Naval Officers on board declares his love for her.-A scarred young woman with more magic in her blood than she knows, set adrift on a ship of prisoners with a dark destination ahead. A princess to the nine seas, to a kingdom at war with an enemy they can neither predict nor properly defend against, who is forced to live a sheltered life in the palace "just until you're old enough," to wait and watch her people die. They both want out. They both want their lives to not be what they are. And when they meet - they might just get to fight for all the things they want, and all that they didn't yet know they needed.- summary will probably change as soon as i figure out a better one. but what you can expect from this story is: - lgbtq+ fantasy with original world building and mythology- mermaids, their culture, songs, and rebellious princesses- a (hopefully) unique twist on the prompt- sea storms and monsters- badass ladies with swords (or crossbows) and magic- pirates! - and also pretty much violence and somewhat graphic descriptions of injuries, murder and torture, oops. please consider this your tw. some of it won't be pretty banyway, i hope you enjoy this! A short story written for the LGBTQ Songfic Contest. The initial plot was inspired by Monster by Imagine Dragons, the mood mostly by Earnestly Yours (feat. Ren Ford) by Keaton Henson. ** one of the winning entries of the Saint Valentine's Contest 2019, on the superhero profile **This is not a fairy tale. It's a story about love. The real one, the ugly one. Complete with tears and pain and screaming at each other until your throat is raw and your eyes burn and you hate them but you love them and you just can't stop. Complete with white lies and gray lies and black lies, with betrayals and the hopeless kind of desperation that comes with lying the whole night awake, alone, and crying yourself to sleep. It's a story about never saying you're sorry but showing it, every day. Proving it and proving you're worthy of their love, choosing it time and time again. It's about love and trust and life. (And super heroes. Of course it's about super heroes.)... my entry for #ValentinesContest2019 and i have to confess that this summary only shows the theme of what my story is supposed to be about. in truth it's mostly about a villain having been at the mercy of some heroes and his boyfriend coming to rescue him. for those with a sensitive stomach or just people that don't want to read about these kinds of things: blood gets mentioned a whole lot, as well as the almost-graphical description of cauterizing a wound, allusions of torture and violence. and the mc thinks a lot about dying, so if that's not your cup of tea i suggest you skip this :)…
