at the age of sixteen, all demons are assigned to a guardian angel who is around the same age as them. it is the angels job to help the demon to grow up and become an angel.

Kang Taehyun seemed to be a calm and composed demon, yet his guardian angel was the complete opposite to him..

"hey, would you mind giving me a map.."

Choi Beomgyu, the angel, winked at Taehyun and aimed finger guns at him,

"to your heart?".

Taehyun stared blankly at Beomgyu before turning around and walking towards his room. it had been like this for years now.

the two were assigned to each other when Taehyun was sixteen and Beomgyu was seventeen. considering their contrasting personalities, you'd think they'd hate each other.

well.. it was quite the opposite.

Beomgyu rolled his eyes with a smile and ran over to the younger male, playfully bumping his shoulder in the process.

"oh sorry, it seems like i've gotten a little lost.."

"please don't-"

"in your eyes!"

that was all it took for Taehyun to slam the door in the angels face.

"Choi Beomgyu!"

a voice from another room was heard calling the angels name, and Taehyun heard the footsteps of Beomgyu walking away.

a deep sigh escaped his lips once he knew the angel was far away. what was that feeling? every time he saw Beomgyu, his heart would start racing.

"that, is love"

Taehyun jumped at the voice and turned around to see his roommate, Huening Kai. Kai was an angel who wasn't assigned to a demon. this was because he had a power, he could read minds.

"what?"

Taehyun walked over to his bed and sat down before looking over at the younger male.

"that feeling you get. it's love".

"love? i'm a demon, do you seriously think i'm capable of love?"

Kai chuckled lightly and leaned back into his bed. he then shrugged his shoulders with a slight laugh and put a raised arm behind his head.

"all i'm saying is, most angels and demons paired together end up falling in love with each other"

"are you going to miss me while i'm gone?"

Beomgyu cheekily smiled at Taehyun while standing in the doorway of their dorm with both Kai and Soobin, the two other guardian angels in their dorm.

"why would i miss you? in fact, i'm gonna love having you gone for a week"

it was the time of year where every guardian angel is called back to heaven to be checked over.

"aw, i'll miss you too"

Beomgyu went to pull Taehyun into a hug but the younger boy stepped back with wide eyes, his cheeks going a light shade of pink.

"go! go-"

"i'll miss you!"

a shout was heard from inside the dorm, most likely from Soobin's assigned demon (and boyfriend) Yeonjun. Taehyun then waved lightly before shutting the door on the angels.

"he's definitely gonna miss me"

Beomgyu mumbled to himself, causing both Soobin and Kai to laugh.

"you really like him, huh?"

the three began walking towards the bus which was waiting outside their shared home.

"a bit too much"

"i miss him"

it had been three days without the angels, and the two demons were sat in the kitchen eating lunch. Yeonjun was taken aback by the words coming out of Taehyun's mouth.

"you miss.. Beomgyu?"

"yeah- no not him! i miss uh.. Kai! yes, i miss Kai. it's lonely not having my roommate"

"yeah.. okay"

Yeonjun nodded in suspicion and took another bite of his food.

"it's not a crime to admit that you miss Beomgyu, you know"

"i don't miss Beomgyu!"

"i used to be like you. when Soobin and i were first paired, i hated him and his adorable puffy cheeks"

Taehyun cringed at Yeonjun's choice of words but continued to lean in and listen to the older male speaking.

"it took one of these weeks where they go back to get checked over to make me realise that i never actually hated him, i loved him"

"are you saying i.. love.. Beomgyu?"

Taehyun wanted to grimace at the thought but he couldn't bring himself to. his mind just went straight to, what if he did love Beomgyu?

"it's pretty obvious that he likes you, i mean, the guy follows you around everywhere"

"i thought he just did that to be annoying.."

"then you're oblivious, my friend"

it had now been five days without the angels and Taehyun was in the dorms alone. Yeonjun had gone out to buy more food for the two of them.

Yeonjun seemed to be completely unfazed over the fact that his boyfriend had left for a week. so why was Taehyun laying in bed worrying about Beomgyu?

the guardian angel had been taking up all of his thoughts since the day he spoke to Yeonjun about his possible feelings towards the older boy.

not only that, but he was sure he felt sick. he wasn't sure why, but his heart ached.

"you look rough"

Taehyun's head shot up at the voice and he saw Yeonjun walking into his room with a small bag. it was at that moment Taehyun saw himself in the mirror by his door.

his eyes had bags under them and he looked completely lost.

"is it normal to be worrying about him?"

Yeonjun, knowing who Taehyun was talking about, softly smiled before sitting on the end of the demons bed.

"i heard once that when a demon was close to turning into an angel, they become lovesick towards their guardian angel"

Taehyun rolled his eyes and fell back down into his duvet.

"lovesick? that sounds so stupid"

"it's true! i read online that it happens to almost every pair, the demon worries about their angel so much that it keeps them up at night"

Taehyun quickly closed his eyes while Yeonjun was speaking.

"i think you're lovesick, Taehyun"

those words made the younger boy open his eyes wide and sit up on his bed. the words he spoke next not only surprised Yeonjun, but surprised himself as well.

"i think i'm in love with Beomgyu"

"who's up next?"

the three angels were stood in line, waiting to be checked over. Soobin looks down at the number he was given and his eyes widen.

"oh! that's me, i'll wait for you in the other room okay?"

both Huening Kai and Beomgyu nodded as they watched Soobin walk into the room.

"i always get so nervous for our check ups"

Kai tilted his head along with what Beomgyu was saying.

"why is that?"

"because i'm always scared that.. when it comes to them checking our relationship with our demons, they're gonna assign Taehyun to someone else"

"they would never assign him to someone else, Gyu. they only do that if the demon hates their angel"

"and Taehyun acts like he hates me!"

Kai then let out a laugh before taking Beomgyu's hands in his and making the older angel sit down.

"he doesn't hate you, trust me. it's definitely the opposite"

"next! number 13?"

Beomgyu jumped up after hearing his number and shot a nervous glance over at Huening Kai. he was hoping the younger angel was right about how Taehyun feels.

he walked over to the examiner and went inside the room. the aura completely changed into seriousness as soon as the door was closed.

Beomgyu walked to the center of the room and stood up straight.

"Choi Beomgyu, guardian angel of Kang Taehyun. correct?"

"yes sir"

"from what we have here, you are doing extremely well! Taehyun seems to have entered the lovesick phase. he will become an angel any time soon!"

Beomgyu was shocked after hearing those words. Taehyun was in the lovesick phase? it usually takes years for demons to enter the lovesick phase.

"are you and Kang Taehyun perhaps, in a relationship together?"

Beomgyu's eyes had never widened so fast before.

"oh! no, we're not.. sir.."

the man in front of him had a soft smile and equally looked shocked at the same time.

"you are doing an exceptional job as a guardian angel! most demons take years to enter the lovesick phase, and it only usually occurs if the angel and demon enter a romantic relationship together"

"if you must know, sir, i do wish to-"

"Choi Beomgyu!"

the whole room fell silent when someone sped through the door. Beomgyu's jaw slightly dropped when he saw Taehyun walking towards him.

"Taehyun! how are you here-"

he was cut off by the younger boy grabbing the collar of his shirt and pulling him closer so that their lips were hovering over each other.

the two stared in silence for what felt like hours until Beomgyu lightly nodded. and before he could even breathe out, Taehyun had connected their lips together.

Beomgyu immediately melted into Taehyun and the pair forgot about the eyes watching them for a moment.

when they pulled away, Beomgyu watched as the dark clothes Taehyun was wearing faded into a bright white, similar to the ones he was wearing himself.

his eyes widened again and a smile covered his whole face.

"you're an angel"

"i know"
