"breathe in.. breathe out.. okay"

Taehyun cleared his throat before standing up and tapping the side of his glass, gaining the attention of everyone in the room.

"um, hello everyone.. you probably all already know me but i am Kang Taehyun, and my wonderful mother has just got married today,"

there was a few claps.

"first of all i want to say, i love you and the man you have married today. not only have you given me an amazing step father, but also a really cool older sibling"

he laughed at the end of his sentence and so did Soobin, his new step brother who's father just married Taehyun's mother.

"i know i don't express how grateful i am too often, but i really am glad to have such a great woman as a mother, and now an even greater man as a father."

his eyes teared up a little and he widened them in an attempt not to cry.

"okay, thank you"

Taehyun then sat back down and took a deep breath of relief.

everyone in the dining hall soon went back to chatting in their own groups, which gave Taehyun the chance to stand up once again and make his way towards the restrooms.

as Taehyun gets closer to the doors of the restroom, someone else walks out and the pair immediately clash into each other.

"oh, i'm so sorry-"

"it's okay, really"

Taehyun looks up after not recognising the voice and sees the face of what he could only assume was an angel.

no. it was just a really handsome boy.

"you're Taehyun, right? that speech you just did was so cool. i wouldn't have the confidence to stand and speak in front of so many people"

again, Taehyun just stared, speechless at the face in front of him.

"oh my gosh, you probably don't even know me! i'm Beomgyu, one of Soobin's friends"

Taehyun just nodded and a small smile formed on his lips.

"it was nice to meet you, but i really need to go somewhere"

Beomgyu looked behind him at the restroom and widened his eyes, forgetting where they were.

"right! i should uh.. let you go then. see you later?"

"mhm"

Taehyun speedily answered and pushed past Beomgyu into the restroom and locked the door behind him.

"nice to meet you but i really need to go somewhere? Taehyun are you stupid!"

the poor boy looked at himself in the mirror in disbelief.

"i can't believe i just did that"

he groaned before leaning onto the counted and pressing his palm up against his forehead.

when Taehyun eventually went back to the main hall, food was being served. and as he sat down, he suddenly made eye contact with Beomgyu.

how hadn't he noticed him before? one of Soobin's friends?

"i see you've met Beomgyu"

Taehyun jumped up in his seat and looked over at the person sitting next to him. it was Soobin.

"how come you've never introduced me to your friends before?"

the two new brothers began eating their food as it was placed in front of them. Soobin just shrugged before speaking.

"never really thought to. but now we're living together you'll see them more often"

music blasted through the room as the guests had moved down to the dance floor and the lights were dimmed.

Taehyun couldn't help but smile at his mother dancing with his new step father during every song. slow or up beat.

he also can't help but notice how Beomgyu is sat directly opposite him on the other side of the room, and how they both definitely don't keep looking over at each other.

he had only taken his eyes off the boy for one second and all of a sudden he had disappeared.

the fast, up best music slowly faded into a slower one. a love song. he watched all of the couples in the room go onto the dance floor and wrap their arms around each other.

he smiled again watching his mother and step father dancing together, and he also noticed Soobin walking up with his boyfriend. the only one of Soobin's friends he had met.

he was calmly sat watching them all until-

*cough*

his whole body flinched at the sudden noise right next to him and he looked over to find Beomgyu stood right next to him.

"hi"

"hi.."

"would you uh, like to dance with me?"

Taehyun could feel his eyes widen slightly and his mouth open to an 'o' shape as he pointed at himself to say 'me?'.

Beomgyu smiled slightly and nodded with a small laugh.

Taehyun couldn't help but smile back before nodding himself and sticking out his hand to grab onto the older boy.

that was brave.

"okay"

omg i have been gone for a WHILE i checked my last uploaded post and it was june 🥲
i started a full time job and just did not have the time to keep up with posting sadly. 😭

i most likely won't ever post a full book ever again but if i ever get time i'll randomly update to this one!
