chapter 22

The next morning, the apartment was filled with the familiar clatter of breakfast. Jimin was at the stove, flipping pancakes, while Taehyung, looking surprisingly well-rested despite his nocturnal adventure, sat at the table, humming softly.

"Morning, Jiminie!" Taehyung chirped, reaching for a glass of orange juice. "Sleep well?"

Jimin grunted in response, placing a plate of pancakes in front of Taehyung. "As well as one can, knowing their best friend might have been eaten by a giant snake or kidnapped by a gangster. You certainly weren't here when I woke up."

Taehyung took a bite of pancake, savoring it. "Oh, about that..." he began, a mischievous glint in his eye. He decided there was no point in hiding it from Jimin; he was too observant, and Taehyung was too prone to dramatic confessions. "I went out last night."

Jimin paused, spatula in hand. "Out? Where? Did you go for a late-night stroll around the neighborhood?"

"No, not exactly a stroll," Taehyung admitted, a smug smile spreading across his face. "I went to Bunny Boss's mansion."

The spatula clattered onto the countertop. Jimin spun around, his eyes wide with disbelief and a rapidly escalating panic. "You did what?! His mansion?! Taehyung, are you completely out of your mind?! That's not just 'out'! That's... that's practically an invasion of privacy! A security breach! You could have been shot! Or worse!"

"Relax, Jiminie! I just wanted to see him," Taehyung said, trying to sound nonchalant, though his heart hammered a little. "I missed him."

"You missed him?! It had only been a few hours! And you thought the best way to deal with that was to stalk him at his own home?!" Jimin's voice rose, his hands now gesticulating wildly. "Did you climb the walls again?! Did you jump over fences?! Did you just walk right up to the front door and announce yourself?!"

Taehyung shrugged, a little sheepishly. "Well, I climbed the garden wall. And then I climbed up to his balcony. The door was unlocked, actually, which was quite surprising." He paused, a soft, dreamy look in his eyes. "He was working on his laptop. He yawned. And then he fanned his shirt. It was really cute, actually."

Jimin stared at him, his face a mask of utter horror. He slowly walked over to the table, leaning in close, his voice a low, furious whisper. "You climbed his mansion wall, snuck onto his balcony, went into his room, and watched him sleep?! Taehyung! That is not 'cute'! That is unhinged! That is how you end up in a very large, very cold, very unmarked grave!"

"Oh, come on, Jiminie," Taehyung said, trying to wave off his friend's hysterics. "He was fine. He didn't even wake up. I just sat there for a bit. And then I kissed him goodnight on the forehead."

Jimin's jaw dropped. He stood frozen for a long moment, then slowly, deliberately, he raised his hands to his head, pulling at his hair. "You kissed him goodnight," he repeated, his voice devoid of all emotion. "You illegally entered a mafia boss's private residence, watched him sleep, and then kissed him goodnight. I'm calling a therapist. For me. And then for you. This is beyond me, Taehyung. Beyond me!" He threw his hands up in despair, turning to pace the kitchen. "I am going to have an aneurysm because of you!"

Taehyung just munched on his pancake, a small, triumphant smile on his face. He knew Jimin would eventually calm down. And he had no regrets.

The next day, despite Jimin's lingering exasperation, life settled into its familiar rhythm as Taehyung and Jimin headed to their classes at the college. The morning lecture was a blur for Taehyung, his mind still replaying flashes of Jungkook's sleeping face and the audacity of his nocturnal visit.

During their break, they found a quiet spot in the bustling campus cafeteria, trying to ignore the usual college chatter. Jimin was still looking a bit disheveled, clearly having not fully recovered from the previous night's revelations.

"You know," Jimin began, stirring his coffee with a spoon, "I'm genuinely worried about you, Taehyung. Like, seriously worried. What if Jungkook-ssi finds out you snuck into his mansion? He's a powerful man. He could retaliate."

Taehyung just shrugged, taking a bite of his pastry. "He won't retaliate. He liked it. He likes me."

Jimin slammed his cup down, making a few nearby students glance their way. "He 'likes' you? Taehyung, you broke into his house! That's not liking, that's grounds for an arrest warrant! Or worse, a very quiet disappearance!"

"Oh, come on, Jiminie. Don't be so dramatic," Taehyung scoffed, though a playful glint was in his eye. "He knows I'm his dramatic darling. He expects it." He leaned in, lowering his voice. "Besides, we were very... intimate, just hours before that. He practically begged for me."

Jimin's face flushed. "Taehyung! Not here! We're in the cafeteria! People can hear you! My innocent ears can barely handle it!" He rubbed his temples. "I still can't believe you told me all that over breakfast. My pancakes almost came back up."

"Well, you asked," Taehyung said, taking another bite. "And it's not like I have anyone else to tell these things to. You're my best friend, Jiminie." He gave Jimin a saccharine sweet smile. "You have to bear witness to my grand love story."

Jimin threw his hands up in exasperation. "Grand love story? It's a grand security risk! You're falling in love with a man who could buy and sell this entire college, probably already has, and who has armed guards at his home! What are you even going to do next? Send him a love letter written in your own blood?"

Taehyung paused, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Hmm, blood might be a bit much. But a very dramatic, very romantic letter? Perhaps. With a lock of my hair."

Jimin groaned, burying his face in his hands. "I'm going to fail this semester because I'm too busy worrying about you getting into a mafia-related international incident. Just promise me, for the love of all that is holy, that you won't climb into his bedroom again. Please."

Taehyung just winked. "No promises, Jiminie. A dramatic darling has to keep his Bunny Boss on his toes, doesn't he?"

Taehyung, still basking in Jimin's exasperated despair, stretched languidly in his chair. The campus cafeteria buzzed around them, but to Taehyung, it was just background noise to the symphony of his own dramatic thoughts. He watched Jimin finish his coffee, still muttering under his breath about restraining orders and therapist appointments.

"You know, Jiminie," Taehyung began, leaning forward conspiratorially, his voice dropping to a theatrical whisper, though it was probably still loud enough for half the cafeteria to hear. "It's not just about getting his attention anymore."

Jimin slowly lifted his head, his eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Oh, no. What fresh nightmare have you cooked up now?"

"It's about... showing him the depth of my devotion," Taehyung declared, placing a hand dramatically over his heart. "It's about proving that my love is as vast and inescapable as his power. He thinks he's the only one who can make people disappear? Ha! I can make his worries disappear with a single smile!"

Jimin let out a long, suffering groan. "Taehyung, you're going to get yourself into a real mess. This isn't a romantic comedy. This is real life, with real gangsters and real consequences."

"But it's *my* real life, Jiminie!" Taehyung shot back, a defiant glint in his eye. "And my real life is always a drama. A beautiful, passionate, utterly unforgettable drama. And Bunny Boss is the leading man!" He leaned back, a dreamy look on his face. "I can just picture it now. Me, dramatically appearing wherever he least expects it. A sudden, heartfelt serenade under his office window, perhaps. Or a carefully choreographed dance number in his lobby!"

Jimin's jaw dropped. "A dance number? In his lobby?! With his armed guards?!"

"Exactly!" Taehyung beamed, clapping his hands together. "It would be unexpected! Daring! And undeniably charming! He wouldn't know what hit him. Except it would be love, Jiminie. Pure, unadulterated, dramatic love." He paused, his gaze drifting to the bustling students around them. "This campus is too small for my grand plans. I need a bigger stage for my affections."

Jimin slowly pushed his chair back, already standing. "I think I need to go to my next lecture now. Alone. Very, very alone. Before you accidentally cause an international incident with a flash mob." He grabbed his bag, his face a picture of resigned despair. "Just try not to get arrested before our next class, okay?"

Taehyung just winked, blowing a kiss at Jimin's retreating back. "No promises, Jiminie! A dramatic darling has to keep his Bunny Boss on his toes!" He then pulled out his phone, already envisioning potential song choices for his next grand gesture. This was going to be epic

The college day finally ended, and Taehyung and Jimin trudged back to their apartment in Seoul. Jimin immediately collapsed onto the sofa, groaning. "I swear, my brain cells are dying from all the stress you put me through, Taehyung."

Taehyung, however, was buzzing with restless energy. He paced the living room, a thoughtful, almost mischievous glint in his eyes. He had been mulling over his next "grand gesture" all day, discarding ideas that were too subtle, too ordinary. A sudden, brilliant (in his mind) idea sparked.

"Jiminie," Taehyung announced, stopping abruptly in front of the sofa, his voice resonating with a dramatic flourish. "I've decided on my next move."

Jimin slowly pushed himself up, rubbing his eyes. "Please tell me it doesn't involve public serenades or a flash mob in a secure building."

Taehyung beamed. "Oh, it's far grander than that. Far more... intimate. And utterly unforgettable." He paused for dramatic effect. "I'm going to kidnap Bunny Boss."

The words hung in the air. Jimin stared. His jaw slowly dropped. He blinked once, then twice, as if trying to re-register what he'd just heard.

"You're going to... you're going to what?" Jimin whispered, his voice dangerously quiet, completely devoid of his usual exasperation, replaced by pure, unadulterated shock.

"Kidnap him!" Taehyung repeated, completely unperturbed. "Not like, a violent kidnapping, obviously. Just a temporary, romantic abduction. A surprise getaway. So we can have some uninterrupted time together. Away from all his bodyguards and his important meetings and everything."

Jimin slowly pushed himself off the sofa, his eyes wide with horror. "Taehyung! Are you out of your mind?! You can't just 'temporarily abduct' a mafia boss! That's not romantic! That's a federal offense! That's how people end up in the bottom of the Han River!" He began to pace frantically, mirroring Taehyung's earlier movements but with genuine terror.

"Details, Jiminie, details!" Taehyung waved a dismissive hand. "It's about the gesture! The sheer audacity! He'll be so surprised, so... captivated, that he'll forget all about his little kingdom for a while. And then I'll have him all to myself!" He clapped his hands together, his eyes sparkling with delight. "I've been thinking about it. We could go to that secluded cabin in the mountains. No cell service. Just us. For a whole weekend."

Jimin stopped pacing, staring at Taehyung as if he had grown a second head. "A secluded cabin? No cell service?! Taehyung, he will send an entire army to find you! They will tear this city apart! They will find you, and they will probably... remove your kneecaps!"

"They won't!" Taehyung insisted, stomping his foot. "He'll know it's me! He knows I just want to spend time with him! He likes it when I'm dominant!"

Jimin let out a high-pitched shriek of pure frustration and fear. "Dominant, not deranged! There's a difference! This is not just a 'grand gesture,' Taehyung, this is a suicide mission! For both of us! I'm going to hide under the bed! I'm calling my mother! You are going to be the death of me!" He clutched his head, truly, utterly overwhelmed by the sheer, dramatic madness of his best friend.

Jimin was still hyperventilating on the sofa, clutching a pillow as if it were a life raft, when Taehyung, armed with a newfound determination and what looked suspiciously like a large, empty duffel bag, returned from his bedroom.

"Alright, Jiminie! Operation Romantic Abduction is a go!" Taehyung announced, his eyes shining with manic glee. "I've got the essentials! Some snacks, a playlist for the road, and this!" He gestured proudly to the duffel bag.

Jimin peeked over the pillow, his eyes wide with terror. "Is that for Jungkook-ssi?! You're going to put him in a bag?!"

"Well, it's a very *nice* duffel bag," Taehyung explained, a slight pout on his face. "And it's just for transportation, if necessary. He can't resist me, so it's probably just a formality." He straightened up. "Now, come on. We need to go."

Jimin scrambled further into the cushions. "Go where?! No! Absolutely not! I am not participating in a felony! I am not going to be an accessory to the kidnapping of a mafia boss!"

Taehyung sighed dramatically, rolling his eyes. "Jiminie, stop being so theatrical. You're my best friend. You're coming for moral support. And also, I might need you to drive."

"Drive?! I am not driving the getaway car for a lovesick lunatic!" Jimin shrieked, scrambling off the sofa and backing away towards the kitchen. "I'll call the police! I'll call the National Guard! I'll tell them everything!"

Taehyung just shook his head, a fond, yet exasperated, smile on his face. "You won't tell anyone, because you love me too much. And because you know how epic this love story is going to be." He advanced slowly, his steps deliberate. "Now, are you going to come willingly, or do I have to resort to... less graceful methods?"

Jimin tripped over his own feet, stumbling against the kitchen counter. "Less graceful methods?! Taehyung, I swear to God-"

Before Jimin could finish his threat, Taehyung lunged. He grabbed Jimin's wrist with one hand and, with surprising strength, hauled him away from the counter. Jimin shrieked, flailing wildly, his legs dragging against the floor.

"No! Let go of me! I'm not going! This is illegal! I have a thesis due! I can't go to jail!" Jimin screamed, his protests echoing through the apartment building. "Luna, help me! Your papa is a madman!"

Luna, from her enclosure, merely flicked her tongue, seemingly unconcerned by Jimin's plight.

"Stop being such a drama queen, Jiminie," Taehyung grunted, already tugging him towards the apartment door. "This is for love! True, undeniable love! And possibly a very exciting weekend getaway!"

Jimin dug his heels in, clinging to the doorframe. "No! I'm staying here! I'm calling my lawyer! I'm calling my mother! She'll send a search party!"

Taehyung just pulled harder, a triumphant grin on his face. "Too late, Jiminie! You're already involved! You're my co-conspirator in love!" With a final, powerful tug, Taehyung managed to yank Jimin clear of the doorframe and out into the hallway, pulling the door shut behind them.

Jimin's protests faded down the hallway, a muffled cry of "This is not how healthy relationships start, Taehyung!" and "I hate you! I truly, truly hate you!" Taehyung, however, just hummed contentedly, already envisioning the mountain cabin.

Taehyung, practically humming with anticipation, finally reached the familiar walls of Jungkook's mansion, dragging a protesting, whining Jimin behind him. It was late, the security lights casting long, deceptive shadows. He had a vague plan: somehow lure Jungkook out, maybe with a fake emergency call from a burner phone, then... well, the details were still fuzzy, but they involved the duffel bag and a secluded mountain cabin.

"Jiminie, lower your voice!" Taehyung hissed, pulling his struggling friend behind a large hedge. "He'll hear us!"

"He'll hear us?! He'll hear us when his bodyguards find us and drag us away by our ankles!" Jimin retorted, trying to untangle himself from Taehyung's grip. "This is a terrible, terrible idea!"

Taehyung ignored him, peering over the hedge, his eyes scanning for any sign of movement. "Just a few more steps. We need to get closer to the gate. I have a brilliant idea for-"

He didn't get to finish his sentence. From seemingly nowhere, a sudden, sharp blow landed on the back of Taehyung's head. Stars exploded behind his eyes, and a wave of dizzying pain washed over him. He felt himself falling, his grip on Jimin loosening. The last thing he heard before the world went black was Jimin's terrified shriek, followed by another dull thud.

---

The next sensation Taehyung felt was a throbbing ache behind his temples. He let out a soft groan, his eyelids fluttering open. He blinked, trying to clear the haze from his vision. The first thing he registered was the familiar scent of polished leather and a hint of something distinctly masculine, a scent he now associated intimately with Jungkook.

He was on a sofa. A very comfortable, very familiar sofa. He slowly pushed himself up, the room spinning for a moment. As his vision cleared, he realized where he was: Jungkook's office, the very same one he had so brazenly entered the day before. The large, sleek desk loomed in front of him, and the heavy, blackout curtains were drawn, bathing the room in a familiar, intimate dimness.

"Jiminie?" Taehyung mumbled, his voice raspy. He turned his head, and there, slumped beside him on the sofa, was Jimin, looking even paler and more disoriented than Taehyung felt. Jimin let out a pathetic whimper, stirring slightly.

Suddenly, a deep, calm voice cut through the quiet. "Took you long enough to wake up, dramatic darling."

Taehyung's eyes snapped to the source of the voice. Jungkook was sitting at his desk, perfectly composed, dressed in a sharp suit, a faint, dangerous smirk playing on his lips. He was twirling a sleek, silver pen between his fingers, his gaze fixed on Taehyung.

"Bunny Boss?" Taehyung managed, his head throbbing. "What... what happened? How did we get here?"

Jungkook leaned back in his chair, his eyes glinting with amusement and something else, something cold and knowing. "Well, you attempted to kidnap me, dramatic darling. Did you really think my security wouldn't notice two idiots lurking around my private residence? Especially after your rather memorable visit yesterday morning?"

Jimin groaned again, slowly pushing himself upright, his eyes wide with renewed terror as he took in the scene. "Oh my god," he whispered, his voice trembling. "We're dead. We are absolutely, definitively dead."

Jungkook's smirk widened. "Not dead, Jimin-ssi. Just... thoroughly intercepted. Now, Taehyung, perhaps you'd like to explain your latest grand scheme to me? In detail, this time. Because my men were quite confused about the duffel bag."

Taehyung slowly rubbed the back of his head, still throbbing, as he stared at Jungkook. Jimin beside him was practically vibrating with terror, his gaze darting between Taehyung and the composed, menacing figure at the desk.

"A duffel bag?" Taehyung mumbled, trying to collect his thoughts. "Right. The duffel bag." He managed a weak smile. "It was for... necessities. For our trip."

Jungkook leaned forward, resting his forearms on the desk, his eyes unwavering. "Our trip, dramatic darling? Do tell. My security team seems to believe it was for my involuntary transportation."

Jimin let out a choked sound. "It was! He was going to kidnap you! I told him it was a terrible idea! I tried to stop him! He dragged me here!" He pointed a trembling finger at Taehyung, desperately trying to distance himself from the madness.

Taehyung glared at Jimin. "Jiminie! You're ruining the romance!" He turned back to Jungkook, trying to regain his composure. "It wasn't a kidnapping, Bunny Boss. It was a romantic abduction. A surprise getaway. I just missed you, you see. A lot. And I wanted some... uninterrupted time. Just us."

Jungkook raised an eyebrow, a flicker of amusement in his dark eyes, though his expression remained mostly unreadable. "Uninterrupted time? So your solution was to scale my mansion wall, attempt to lure me out of my secure compound, and then presumably shove me into a duffel bag for a mountain retreat with no cell service?"

"Exactly!" Taehyung brightened, seeing that Jungkook seemed to be understanding, at least a little. "It was going to be perfect! Just you and me, away from all this... chaos. I even packed snacks."

Jimin slapped his hand over his face. "He really did! And he almost killed Luna trying to get out!"

Jungkook's gaze hardened slightly as he looked at Jimin. "Is that so, Jimin-ssi? So you were complicit in this... romantic abduction?"

"No! Absolutely not!" Jimin shrieked, scrambling back against the sofa cushions. "I was an unwilling participant! He literally dragged me! I've been protesting this madness for hours! Since yesterday morning!"

Jungkook's eyes returned to Taehyung, a slow, dangerous smile spreading across his face. "So, you missed me so much, you resorted to criminal acts, dramatic darling?"

Taehyung met his gaze, a defiant glint in his own eyes. "When you love someone, Bunny Boss, you do crazy things. And I love you. So, yes. I did. I needed to see you. I needed to be with you. You have no idea how much I've been thinking about you since this morning."

Jungkook's smile deepened, a low chuckle rumbling in his chest. "Oh, I think I have a very good idea. And it seems my security team is more efficient than you anticipated." He leaned back, his eyes sparkling with a mix of warning and possessive amusement. "So, what exactly did you plan to do once you had me 'abducted,' dramatic darling? Besides feeding me snacks."
