"This Halloween, you find a creepy magazine placed on a bookshelf inside a house full of partying teenagers."

"Reports show that the Plague has torn through Europe," said the radio reporter. "It will reach—"

"Turn off that junk!" shouted someone. "This is a party!"

Sam returned to the magazine as the music returned.

"Things begin to happen once you open it. Have you unleashed something from beyond?"

"Dude," said Mikey, making Sam jump, "you're reading at a Halloween party?" Mikey took a sip of his punch. "Only you could find some dusty, old magazine while at the eternal party. We got booze, babes, and bros...we don't need reading anymore."

Mikey snatched the magazine. "Wattpad Chronicle? Geez, even the title sounds boring." Mikey slapped the magazine against Sam's chest. "There are hot girls at this party!"

"I-I-I don't know."

"Your choice: babes or books." Mikey turned to the crowd. "Hey Patricia! Babe!"

Sam rolled his eyes and turned his attention to the magazine. "Babes or books," he whispered.

He opened the magazine; but this time the pages were blank, except for one sentence. Sam squinted and blinked a few times. "Zitáo Ánoigma Pýli? What?"

"It's Greek," said a delicate yet strong voice behind him.

"Lena," gasped Sam, almost dropping the magazine.

"It roughly means, 'I ask for a gate opening.'" Lena leaned closer to Sam. His heart went thumpthumpthump. "I bet those letters and numbers next to it are coordinates to another world."

Sam tried to act cool, but his voice squeaked, "Another world?"

"You've never heard of The Call of Adventure? It's a legend about a message sent from another world to find those righteous enough to join THEM." Lena's eyes met Sam's. "And you found it."

"Cool," said Sam, trying to shrug.

Lena twirled a strand of Sam's brown hair. "How's about you finish it?"

Sam blushed as he looked back to the magazine. "Zitáo Ánoigma Pýli: 61-NC-@B." He turned back to Lena with a smile on his face, but she'd already taken a step back. Sam gulped and faced the magazine; it began to glow. Purple smoke started to drift out of it. The smoke began to swirl around him. He reached out to it and noticed his had was flat...like 2D flat. He screamed, but all that came out was a colorful set of letters in a stylized font that read, "AAAH!!"

"What's going on?!" he screamed; but instead of sound, he got a speech bubble over his head with what he said written in it.

Suddenly everything exploded into a tunnel of multicolored lights. A white light shined at the other end.

"Go towards the light," said a disembodied Lena. Sam started towards the light.

Within a few feet, Sam reached the light. He held out a hand and everything swirled into daylight. Sam shielded his eyes for a moment. He then saw amazing buildings and flying vehicles. A dragon suddenly soared overhead.

"Welcome to Nexus City," said Lena. "Your new home."

"Whoa..." said Sam.
