Plague 2022 Special: The Survivors Speak
Author: Hello everyone, and welcome to the very first episode of Talk with Them! It has been a while since Plague 2022 ended, and I know many of you have been waiting for this. But as you can imagine, our beloved cast has been quite busy—some dealing with sequels, some recovering from their tragic pasts.
Now that the entire series has come to an end, and we’ve wrapped up with a—shall I say—gentler conclusion, it’s time to sit down and have a heartfelt conversation with the very characters who lived through it.
So, without further ado, let’s welcome our first guest—Eunhye Minho! Our very own Korean-Indian K-pop idol!
(Audience claps.)
Eunhye: Hello everyone. Thank you for having me.
Author: Hello, hello! Please, have a seat. I hope you’re doing well.
Eunhye: Thankfully, yes. Since you decided to give me a kind ending, that is.
Author: Hahaha.
Eunhye: Haha.
Author: What a chuckle. Well, anyway, let’s get started, shall we?
Eunhye: Sure.
Author: We have a total of five questions—all of these have somehow been bought to my attention via comments in the story. Let’s start with the first audience question.
"Miss Eunhye, many fans were curious about your initial mood swings when you first met Sae Joon Hyun. Could you share what was going on in your mind at that time?"
Eunhye: Oh... That’s a deep one. Actually, there was a K-pop idol who reminded me a lot of myself. She was struggling to make her place in the industry, but then… her own reporting agency spread false rumors about her, claiming she was involved in illegal activities. The pressure became too much, and she took her own life. Shortly after, her closest friend, unable to bear the guilt and the blame, followed her…
Later, I found out that the one who had originally reported the incident was none other than Sae Joon Hyun. I couldn’t accept him—not as my savior, not even as a person I could acknowledge. But then… he told me the truth about what had happened behind the scenes. I realized that while he was part of it, he wasn’t entirely at fault. He was just doing his job as an employee, following orders… and yet, he carried that guilt with him. That’s when I decided to forgive him. Not because I had to, but because he wanted to atone for his past mistakes, and I believed he should have that chance.
Author: I see… That must have been incredibly difficult. My deepest condolences to the young women who lost their lives.
Eunhye: It’s okay. I just want people to understand that idols—celebrities in general—are human, too. We have struggles, dreams, and emotions just like everyone else. We are all trying to build our own world, in our own way.
Author: You’re absolutely right. I hope this message reaches everyone who needs to hear it.
Eunhye: Yes.
Author: Alright then. Moving on to the next question—why did you trust Jaeyeon so quickly compared to the others?
Eunhye: Haha! Honestly? Because he helped me without me even asking. And he never looked at me differently. Whether I was an idol, a woman, or just an ordinary citizen, he treated me the same. He was so pure in his actions that it felt wrong not to trust him. So I did.
Author: (chuckles) Jaeyeon is definitely one lucky fan. Let’s move on to the next question, shall we?
Eunhye: Sure.
Author: Many people find you to be a very… interesting character. A bit unpredictable, even. Some would say… mood swings? (chuckles mischievously) And that brings us to the next question!
"Why didn’t she talk to the person on the phone at the beginning of the chapter?"
Eunhye: (laughs) Oh, that! The person on the phone was my manager. You see, before the apocalypse—before you (side-eyes author) decided to destroy the world—I was a pretty quiet person. I didn’t talk much, and my manager was always trying to get me to open up. He found it frustrating, but I just wasn’t in the mood for small talk back then, haha.
Author: (sweats nervously) I-I see… Well then! Moving on…
"Mina is right. We can’t have too many people gathering in a group. Survival is key. So why did Eunhye think Mina was wrong?"
Eunhye: Well… (pauses, thinking) Being too rational can sometimes make people forget their humanity. I believed we could save people, no matter how many. Mina-ssi, on the other hand, was convinced that taking in too many survivors would only put us at risk. But it just felt wrong to ignore people who needed help. If I had the chance to save someone, I would. I just couldn’t turn my back on them.
Author: I see… That’s an interesting perspective. Now, onto the final, most-asked question for you!
"She seems like she gets distracted easily. Even in the middle of the apocalypse, she’s thinking about her conversation with Sae Joon Hyun. Why?"
Eunhye: (laughs) Ah, the human mind… or maybe just mine. I just couldn’t shake the thought that I had actually met him. And that everything I had believed about him was… wrong. He wasn’t just some villain; he was a victim too. That realization stuck with me. But! (narrows eyes at the author) Don’t get me wrong—I knew I could die at any moment, so I wasn’t just standing around daydreaming! I was still very much aware of the zombies around me, haha.
Author: Haha.
Eunhye: Haha.
Audience: (Haha.)
Author: And that wraps up all the questions for Eunhye! Thank you for your honest answers—your fans will definitely appreciate the insight.
Eunhye: Thank you for having me! It was fun, even if you did put me through the apocalypse. (side-eyes author)
Author: (laughs nervously) Right… Before we bring in our next guest, a huge shoutout to everyone who submitted questions! This segment wouldn’t be the same without you.
